Integrate Hanwha with Immix

To begin the integration, a suitable port for Immix must be located.

NOTE: These are default ports only (they can be configured and may be
different to what is listed).

To find ports in Immix:

1.Log into the Hanwha IPC device.

2.Select Setup > Basic > IP & Port > Port. The ports needed by the integration appear.

3.HTTP or HTTPs are populated in the Port section. The RTSP port must be forwarded for internal API access.

Configuring Users in Hanwha Vision for Immix

To configure users:

1.Ensure that the user is a type of administrator or has full permissions; users without full permissions might experience issues.

2.Select Setup > Basic > User.

3.Select the checkbox under Use to enable the next available Current User.

4.Assign a name, password, and appropriate permissions.

Video Profile

The integration has capabilities to switch between different video profiles. To switch between profiles:

1.Select Setup > Basic > Video Profile.

2.Set the Video Compression to H264 for the integration.

3.Check the Enable checkbox at Audio In.

Configuring a Hanwha IPC SMTP Alarm

To configure the alarm into Immix:

1.Log into Immix.

2.Select Setup > Edit Sites > Customer >Site.

3.In the Site Actions for Site_Name pane on the right, select View Summary. A report is generated.

4.Format the recipient and sender addresses as follows: S#.a#.e#@immixalarms.com. For example: s29.a1.e21@immixalarms.com

S# – represents the ServerID.
A# – represents the Input of Response.
E# – represents the Event Number associated with the Server Type,
e21 is defaulted to IPC Object Detection.

Enabling Digest Auth

If you are having trouble using GetConfig, enable Digest Auth for your Hanwha user.

The image below shows where to enable this:

NOTE: Ensure that the user is Admin or Full user permissions. You must
create an Immix user and assign them as an administrator. A default
admin account cannot be used.

Configuring a Hanwha IPC SMTP Event

To configure the system-based events into Immix:

1.Log into the Hanwha IPC device.

2.Select Setup > Event > Event Rule. Users may configure an action for each event type.

3.Click Add to create a new rule for the event type.

4.Assign a name to the Rule, then click anywhere in the +Add pane.

5.Expand the dropdown to display a list of event types.

6.Select one or more event types.

7.In the Event Actions Settings area, select the E-mail checkbox.

8.Select the Activation Time and click OK.

Obtaining the S Number

To obtain the S number:

1.Log into Immix.

2.Select Setup > Edit Sites > Customer > Site.

3.In the Site Actions, for Site_Name pane on the right, select View Summary. A report preview is generated, indicating the Identifier or S number of the device.

Configuring Devices within Immix

To configure a device within Immix:

1.Log in to Immix with username and password.

2.Navigate to Device Details.

3.Enter information into the following screen.

•

• Host – The public address of the Hanwha IPC.

• Port – The http port of the Hanwha IPC.

• User – Username configured in Hanwha IPC.

• Password – Password configured in Hanwha IPC.

• RTSP Port – The RTSP Port configured in Hanwha IPC.

Obtaining the ID of a Camera for Use in the Extra Value

To obtain the ID of the camera:

1.Open the Hanwha system desktop client.

2.In the left side, find the appropriate camera.

3.Right click it, and click on Camera Settings. The camera settings open on the General tab.

4.Click More Info. The ID of the camera is under the field Camera ID.

5.Click Copy to copy the id for use in Immix.

SSL Error Alarms

By default, the alarm receiver is configured to disallow insecure connections. To allow connections to insecure devices (no SSL, invalid cert, etc.), change the RequireCertificate config key in appsettings.json to false.

Alarms Not Decoding

By default the alarm JSON messages are saved in the file store in the same folder as any alarm footage. To diagnose decoding issues, confirm that this message is what is expected. A typical alarm message looks like the following snippet. Alarm messages always have the broadcastAction alarm.

How to use Wisenet cameras with exacqVision

Summary:

This article provides information on using Wisenet cameras with exacqVision.

Step By Step Guide:

Wisenet Camera Settings

Mandatory

The following settings are mandatory:

• Configure IP address and password.

• Under Date and Time, check DST if needed.

The exacqVision server also functions as an NTP server and will push its address to the camera for time synchronization.

NOTE: exacqVision needs the camera to be set to the GMT time zone and will
set it to GMT when connected. If the camera is changed afterwards,
recording issues may occur.

• Set at least one motion zone on the camera.

exacqVision by default records on motion but does not create a motion zone on the camera.

NOTE: If the Camera Recording mode says Motion Not Supported after adding
the camera, the most common cause is that motion detection is not enabled.
To resolve this, enable motion detection on the camera and then disable/
re-enable the camera.

Optional

The following settings are optional:

• Fine tune motion configuration on the camera to minimize false alarms.

• Configure analytics that may be used such as line crossing, intrusion, etc.

• If the camera has AI capabilities, enable the Object Detection and Best/Detection shot for the AI metadata in exacqVision.

• Enable optional camera settings as detailed at the end of this article.

After Adding to exacqVision

exacqVision defaults to using the Hanwha default H.264 stream (profile 2) but can be changed to H.265. This changes exacqVision to utilize the default H.265 stream on the camera (profile3).

NOTE: It is not possible to set h.265 via exacqVision on a fisheye camera.
You need to log in to the camera interface and manually change the FISHEYE
profile to H.265.

To change the default stream to H.265:

1.Navigate to the exacqVision Camera Settings page and click the Recording tab.
In the Rate Control field, the default is Constant Quality which equates to Variable Bit Rate in Hanwha cameras.

The Quality slider default of 2 sets a low cap.
1 = minimum VBR cap for that stream
10 = maximum VBR cap for that stream
For 4MP+ resolution cameras it is beneficial to increase the quality to 3 or 4; otherwise, the video may be compressed too much thus decreasing quality.

2.If needed, select a stream to add from the Multistreaming dropdown menu and click Add Stream.

NOTE: With high-resolution cameras, it is best practice to create lower
resolution live viewing streams to save on decoding and bandwidth. These
streams can be added in exacqVision on the Camera Settings page.

3.Click the Motion tab to edit motion on the camera (although exacqVision does not have all the options available that are in the Hanwha cameras).

NOTE: It is possible to add motion, including windows, without adding\
multiple points to create unique shapes.

• Sensitivity in exacqVision = Sensitivity setting in the camera

• Percentage in exacqVision = Level of Detection setting in the camera

• Minimum duration for each area is not available in exacqVision.

• Configuring the minimum and maximum object size for motion detection is not available in exacqVision.

4.Click the Analytics tab to see several options for displaying and recording data.

• Display Configuration affects the bounding boxes displayed in exacqVision.

• Record analytic data records the metadata from the camera for searching later.

• Record Video will trigger a recording when an analytic event is triggered and recognized by exacqVision like motion.

5.If the camera is a fisheye, click the Digital PTZ/Fisheye tab to configure the proper dewarp code.
a. Select Immervision from the first dropdown menu.

b. Select the proper code from the second dropdown menu.

c. Select how the camera is mounted for proper dewarping from the third dropdown menu.

NOTE: Many of Hanwha’s fisheye cameras can use additional camera side dewarp
channels. These should be created first before the camera is added to
exacqVision, so they are identified and configurable inside of exacqVision.
These channels have no motion detection so they either need to record 24/7
or be used for live video only.

NOTE: The Video tab does not exactly match what is in the camera.

Brightness = Brightness
Contrast = Contrast
Saturation = Color Level in the camera
Wide Dynamic Range = controls SSDR in the camera
Video Mask = controls the camera’s Privacy Areas

Searching AI Metadata

To search AI metadata:

1.From the exacqVision home page, click the Search () icon in the top left corner of the screen.

2.Expand the camera tree then select the camera and the analytic metadata associated with it.

3.Select the Search Range to search for then click Search.

4.Click the Paper () icon to view the raw metadata.

A pane to the right of the video will appear with the raw data of that time.

5.Check the Show Filters checkbox to filter data.

6.In the pane to the left of the video, check the checkboxes to filter.

7. Click Save then click the Search button again.

NOTE: Save filters can be selected from the dropdown menu at the top.

8.If certain overlays for the metadata need to be hidden, click the Green () icon and select which overlays should be hidden.

Creating Events Based on Analytics

NOTE: The analytics must be configured in the camera first. Once done and the
camera is added to exacqVision, disable and re-enable the camera.

To create events based on analytics:

1.In exacqVision, go to Configuration and select Event Linking.

2.Under Event Type, select Analytics.

NOTE: The Event Source is the analytic to trigger the Event. There can
potentially be many of these so use the filter to find the camera.

3.Select the Action Type and Action Target.

Monitoring Analytic Events

To monitor analytic events, follow the steps in the Creating Events Based on Analytics section. However, use Event Monitoring instead of Event Linking.

Special Considerations

Take the following into consideration when setting up a camera:

• exacqVision only allows four channels per license. If a camera has more than four channels, refer to the exacqVision IP Camera Integration page for special instructions.

For example:

• SPE-1630 has 16 channels. With four channel licensing, this camera will need four licenses and be added per the exacqVision integration entry for this camera.

• PNM-C3404RQPZ has five channels. This camera will need to be added twice per the exacqVison integration entry for this camera.

• If a camera disconnects from the exacqVision server, refer to the following article to utilize edge storage for “trickle back”: Configuring Samsung|Hanwha Camera Edge Storage for Use with Server “Network Loss Recording” Feature

• Because fisheye cameras only have one default profile it is not possible to set h.265 via exacqVision. Log in to the camera and set the FISHEYE profile to h.265 then apply it and disable/re-enable in exacqVision to reflect the changes.

Optional Common Camera Settings

The following camera settings are optional:

• WiseStream 3 – Setup > Video & Audio > Wisestream

Wisestream uses an algorithm that compresses non-moving objects at a higher rate, saving bandwidth and storage. AI cameras utilize Wisestream 3, which employs AI-driven algorithms for this process, while non-AI cameras use a pixel-based algorithm. The quality setting determines the level of compression applied: a higher value means greater compression of non-moving objects.

• Dynamic GoV/FPS – Setup > Video Profiles > Select Recording Profile

These utilize the Wisestream algorithm to control the framerate of the profile and/or the key-frame interval to save on bandwidth and storage.

NOTE: Ensure the correct profile that exacqVision is using (264 or 265) is
selected.

• AI Based Shutter – Setup > Video & Audio > Camera Setup > Exposure

This setting is only available on AI-based cameras. It controls the shutter speed based on the presence of objects, reducing motion blur in low-light conditions.

NOTE: This option is not available if WDR is turned on.

• WiseNR2 Noise Reduction – Setup > Video & Audio > Camera Setup > Exposure

This setting is not available in all cameras. Wise NR II utilizes an additional algorithm to improve low-light images and reduce noise.

Verint recorders using different FPS for normal and event recording

Summary:

When a Hanwha camera is registered to a Verint NVR, the use of different FPS can be engaged on the NVR

Explanation of Behavior:

• Enabling this option is required to keep the video connection alive for Verint EdgeVR recorders using different frame rates between normal and event.

Resolution:

• Firmware can be easily updated via the NVRs web interface, the NVRs monitor/mouse interface, Wisenet Device Manager, or Wisenet Viewer. The process takes approximately 5 minutes.

• The way Verint operates is that the recorder will dictate the camera’s FPS, and changing the video profile on the camera, by default, momentarily drops and reestablishs the connections.

How to add a Wisenet camera to Genetec Security Center 5.9

Summary:

This article provides instructions for adding a Wisenet camera to Genetec Security Center 5.9 and the additional steps needed if the camera has a fisheye lens.

Step By Step Guide:

To add a Wisenet camera to Genetec Security Center 5.9:

1.Open Wisenet Device Manager.

2.Double-click your camera to load the camera’s webpage.

3.Enter and confirm your new password, then click Apply.

NOTE: If a password has already been configured and you need to default
the camera, press and hold the Reset button for 5-10 seconds.

4.From the Genetec Config Tool application, click the Video icon.

5.Right-click Archiver and select Unit enrolment.

6.Click Manual add then select Hanwha Techwin from the Manufacturer dropdown menu, select Wisenet from the Product type dropdown menu, and enter the IP address of the camera.

NOTE: You can find the IP address of the camera in the Wisenet Device
Manager results screen. Click Add and close to enroll the camera.

TIP: If you see a Bad logon error, move your mouse over the text and an Add button will appear.

Enter the username and password of the camera then click the Add button.

After a few moments the status should change to Added.

NOTE: Sometimes the status in Genetec sticks on Bad logon. To resolve this
issue, click Clear All at the bottom of Unit enrollment and add the camera
again. The camera has now been added to Genetec Security Center 5.9.

Configuring a Fisheye Camera

The following additional steps are required if the camera has a fisheye lens:

1.From the Video tab, select the newly added camera under Archiver then click Hardware and edit the Lens type.

2.Select your Camera position from the dropdown menu.

NOTE: Genetec may not automatically pick the correct lens type and
could fail to calibrate.

3.Select the correct Lens Type from the dropdown menu.

4.Click Ok and Apply at the bottom of the page to save changes.
The fisheye camera settings are now complete.

Viewing the Newly Added Camera

To view the newly added camera:

1.Open the Security Desk application from the Windows Start menu.

2.Log in and and select Monitoring.

3.Double-click the newly added camera to see live video.

4.Use the scroll wheel on the mouse or click the Viewing Mode icon to manipulate the image.

Genetec – Adding a Hanwha Camera to Genetec 5.7 or later

How do calibrate a Hanwha Fisheye Camera for use on a Genetec VMS?

1. Open the Config Tool, go to Video Unit.

2. Select the Video Unit in question.

3. Select the Hardware Tab of the Fisheye camera to be configured.

4. Set the Lens Type to Panamorph.

5. Click the Pencil to the right of the Panamorph dropdown.

6. Set the orientation to either ceiling or wall.

7. Select the proper Lens Type from the list (See De-warp Code article link below.)

8. Click calibrate once the code is registered.

Note: If it fails check the motion detection tab for an improperly configured Event or
Motion Schedule.

XVRView DVR Quick Setup Guide

4 Record video:
If you system don’t come with hard drive, you have to install a SATA
3.5 inch internal hard drive to record. This system works with most
3.5”SATA Hard Disk or 3.5 internal hard disk.

1. Install a Hard Disk (if your system has preinstalled Hard Disk,
please skip this step)
Unplug your DVR from power, unscrew and remove the top cover.
Connect the SATA power and data cables from the DVR to the
corresponding ports on your Hard Disk (as shown).

Place the Hard Disk into the DVR. Any cable should cross up over the
Hard Disk.
Holding the Hard Disk and the DVR, gently turn it over and line up the
holes on the Hard Disk with the holes on the
DVR. Using a screwdriver, screw the provided screws into the holes.
Assemble the cover.
Note: after you install a hard drive, please format the hard drive, right
click the mouse>main menu>record>HDD manage> format Disk

If you want to motion detection only, pls tick the square of motion only.

Got into the DVR main menu>playback

Record querying conditions include: file storing place, record
time,record channel, record type (regular, alarm, manual). After
chose the querying condition, click search button , If files exist, you
can see the corresponding color displaying in the time column, Click file
list button , you can see the files one by one displaying.
Double click the files you want to playback in the file list or click in the
time column to playback.

Sync Mode: Enable sync mode, multiple channels playback at the same
time.
Zoom in: Click left mouse to drag out an area, and then move mouse into
the area, after that click to enlarge, double click left mouse to exit
amplified state.
6 Motion detection Recording:
Get into the DVR main menu>sensor>motion detection

Select the channel you want to setup motion detect recording and tick
enable
Setup the sensitivity to minimize the false alarm
Region: you can select the motion detection area
Setup the the time duration
Setup motion detect linkage, tick send email, it will email alarm you

The steps required to set up Samsung Cameras / DVRs and NVRs

Setting Correct Profiles

Please ensure you have 2 profiles configured on your device:

1.The Event or Recording Profile – This will be used to record events. For optimal performance, this this to the higher resolution / frame-rate of the device or as desired if you have specific requirements.

2.The Live Profile – This will be use for live view and the analytics stream. For optimal performance, set this to 720p 15fps – set this as the default profile on NVRs/DVRs.

IP Cameras

Cameras are the easiest to set up and should work out of the box. If the cameras are not working for any reason, please try one of the following for the Analytics Path and Recording Path:

• Analytics_Path: /profile2/media.smp

• Recordings_Path: /profile1/media.smp

The above assumes profile2 is set to 720p with 15fps and profile1 is set to the maximum resolution / frame rate.

Please also ensure the RTSP port is correct (554 by default).

Multi-Sensor IP Cameras & Encoders

If your device is a multi-sensor camera or an encoder, please set the Analytics Path as follows:

• //profile2/media.smp

Sensor # range is from 0-3 (0 = Sensor 1, 1 = Sensor 2…)

For example for PNM-9081VQ, PNM-9080VQ, PNM-9322VQP, PNM-9002VQ, or PNM-7002VD:

• Camera 1: /0/profile2/media.smp

• Camera 2: /1/profile2/media.smp

• Camera 3: /2/profile2/media.smp

• Camera 4: /3/profile2/media.smp

NVR – Network Video Recorders

1.Set the correct RTSP port – The RTSP port for NVRs will be the last Device Port set on the unit. i.e. if device port is set to 554-558, 558 will be the port for RTSP.

2.Set the correct Analytics Path – Channel numbering starts at 0.

3.Set the correct Recording Path – Channel numbering starts at 0.

Can I use TetherX alongside HikConnect?

Can I use Hik-Connect on my Hikvision cameras and recorders?

Yes.

Please make sure that stream encryption is switched off under Configuration > Network > Advanced Settings:

HikConnect stream encryption uses a proprietary mechanism which is not available to third-parties. Please note TetherX will encrypt the stream to the highest standards, for more information please see our security white-paper.

Note: If you are still getting a broken stream or no live view, please try updating the camera and/or recorder firmware to the latest. There are known issues that have been addressed by Hikvision.

Live View – Technical Implementation Details

How TetherX implements live view to be compatible with all manufacturers

Introduction

The quality, latency and smoothness of live view streaming is dictated by many factors:

1.The available streams from the camera.

2.The connection speed both on site and on the viewing device.

3.The performance of the viewing device.

4.The underlying streaming technology that is being used.

5.Other manufacturer specific trickery/tweaking that may or may not be desirable.

Some of these are self-explanatory but some are a matter of trade-offs and priorities. This document explains the constraints and the decisions taken by TetherX when it comes to live view streaming.

Available Streams from Cameras

Typically cameras will provide 2 video streams as well as the ability to request a single image. These limitations dictate what is and isn’t possible when it comes to both recording and streaming.

💡 Note: More expensive and speciality cameras will provide additional video streams and custom streams of crops/de-warps of the same image (e.g. 180 or 360 cameras).

The streams are usually accessed through RTSP and the images through HTTP. For example:

• Primary Stream: 6 megapixels, 6mbit, H.265, 25fps RTSP stream

• Secondary stream: D1, 1mbit, H.264, 10fps RTSP stream

• Snapshot URL: Full resolution, 1 image over HTTP (refreshed 1 time per second)

The above is just an example as this ranges wildly depending on the hardware and customer requirements.

Formats

• H.265 – This is arguably the best currently available video format for most video applications, including video surveillance. The resulting space consumption is around 50% of H.264 for equivalent video quality (though your results may vary depending on the quality of the H.265 encoder chip and settings in your camera and/or recorder).

Please note this format is not compatible with older devices and operating systems. At present (Q3 2023) support is limited to:

◦ Windows (version 10 1709 or newer) and only when HEVC video extensions from the Microsoft Store are installed for devices with hardware support

◦ Windows (version 8 or newer), macOS ( Big Sur 11.0 or newer), Android, Linux (Chrome 108.0.5354.0 or newer) and Chrome OS platforms with hardware support

• H.264 – This is the only video format widely compatible across all devices. Most notably, older Windows and Android devices that cannot play H.265 in some cases. Please refer to https://caniuse.com/hevc

• VP9 (and older) – This is Google’s attempt at an open source H.265 alternative, while a great format on paper, it is not embraced by the industry and therefore does not see wide hardware support. Because of this, it tends to use significantly more resources to both record and display and is unfortunately not recommended when dealing with many simultaneous streams.

• MPEG4 – This is a legacy video format and is not generally compatible on modern devices and will need to be transcoded, leading to additional hardware costs, you will not see it on more recent cameras / recorders.

• MJPEG – Usually 5 to 25x larger in size for the same number of frames. While prominent on older cameras and recorders, anything since around 2008 has switched to video formats.

Transcoding vs Proxying

TetherX supports both transcoding and proxying/packaging. The differences between the two are as follows:

Transcoding is a process of taking the stream from a camera, decoding it and then re-encoding it into a different format. This is the ideal method to hit a specific requirement of Internet bandwidth and viewing size, but it is in most cases cost prohibitive as you need power hungry and expensive hardware to achieve.

For context, a TetherBox Pico capable of recording 10 cameras will only be able to record 2 if transcoding (you can enable transcoding in TetherX by editing a camera and switching to the advanced tab).

Proxying & Packaging is what is used in most cases, where the original video stream is maintained but is packaged into different containers, for example .mp4 for video recording and .ts for local and high-def live streaming (see streaming technologies below).

This means that ultimately, you are at the mercy of the camera/recorder. If you need to open 16 cameras and each one is 1mbit, but your upload speed is only 10mbit, it will simply not work because the stream size cannot be adjusted without either:

1.Changing your camera settings (what budget equipment typically does) OR

2.Transcoding, which is very costly.

Video vs Images

TetherX use a combination of images and video to achieve different goals. It is important to understand the differences and advantages/disadvantages of each, which in turn dictate when either is used in TetherX.

The main difference between image and video compression is every image is self contained, where every video frame is part of a stream. While you may skip an image, skipping a frame in a video stream leads to parts of the image breaking / disappearing:

Systems that ignore broken/skipped data (e.g. streaming over UDP) will show a broken image while many systems will simply show a loading spinner while they wait for the next key frame (which is controlled by the key-frame interval set on the camera/recorder, typically set to 1 second, or the same number as fps, but sometimes much longer).

Because each image is self contained, it is typically 5 to 25x larger in bitrate vs video at 25 images per second. It may initially seem obvious that video should be used when accessing remotely, however there are certain important underlying trade-offs that make it a much tougher question which needs to be evaluated on a case by case basis, according to the following:

Advantages of Images

• Initial image loads 5-10x quicker than video (you need to load 1 frame, not 25 or potentially hundreds with a larger key-interval setting on the camera/recorder).

• Handles bandwidth fluctuations seamlessly (images can be skipped which is not possible with video).

• Latency is is lower (you load 1 frame, not 25 before showing the image, more suitable for PTZ / two way audio – see streaming technologies below).

• Compatible with all cameras and viewing devices.

• Low resource utilisation on both viewing and recording device, means you can view 100+ cameras simultaneously.

• Image transcoding/transizing is an efficient method to reduce bitrate when viewing more than 16 simultaneous cameras.

• The recording quality is not impacted when viewing live (some manufacturers reduce recording quality to accommodate live view).

Disadvantages of Images

• Much higher bandwidth (5x to 25x) to achieve the same fps in live view (trade-off of quality vs smoothness).
This leads to a much lower FPS in practice when bandwidth is kept the same.

Advantages of Video

• Much lower bandwidth (5x to 25x) for the same frame-rate/smoothness.
This usually leads to a much smoother video at the same bandwidth.

Disadvantages of Video

• Much higher initial loading times (5-10x longer).

• The usually higher latencies mak it more challenging for applications such as PTZ or two way audio (note: some cameras use low latency encoders to alleviate some of this but it is a hit and miss and leads to compatibility issues).

• Will simply not load if the connection cannot sustain all requires streams.

This usually restricts how many simultaneous cameras can be viewed as it is impossible to gracefully adapt the bitrate of each stream on the fly.

• Lower quality than images.

• Trickery is used by manufacturers to allow live view by reducing recording quality which leads to potentially losing critical video evidence.

Live View Streaming Technologies

TetherX uses all mainstream streaming technologies available and choses between them depending on the specific requirements and constraints:

• MJPEG – The technology is simple and what TetherX falls back to when other methods are not practical (e.g. resource constraints). The viewing device requests an image, once that image is downloaded, the previous image is replaced and the next image is requested. The image is always complete and in full quality and the speed is determined by the available resources.

If the device in question is limited by its performance or bandwidth, it loads the next image slower but still remains functional. This leads to a reliable live view that automatically adapts to the resources available and can sustain a virtually unlimited number of cameras viewed simultaneously. This however by design does not provide high frame-rate which viewers associate with smoothness. It also is not efficient when viewing a smaller number of cameras at higher frame-rates.

• HLS – This is the technology used by platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. This technology is pioneered by Apple and works by the browser requesting a playlist, which provides the next available video file. Typically, the stream is broken up into 1 or 2 second video files (this duration is set by the key interval setting on the camera or recorder and has a significant impact on latency).

Unless transcoding, these files simply re-package the same video stream coming from the camera and therefore, if the connection speed cannot sustain all the requested streams on screen, the video will take a long time to start and will stop after the initial second, showing a loading spinner until the next video file is fully downloaded. Effectively, sufficient bandwidth is crucial.

Even with sufficient bandwidth, the typical latency can be anywhere from 2 to 5 seconds which leads to a poor experience in applications such as PTZ or Two Way Audio.

• LHLS – This is an extension on the above technology that keeps the connection open instead of re-requesting the playlist each time, it can reduce latency by up to 50% but can be less reliable in some situations.

• RTSP/RTP/RTMP – These are more traditional streaming technologies that are not readily compatible with most devices and require special flash players, plugins or custom software. This can provide lower latencies than LHLS but requires additional configuration and software. TetherX uses this internally to get the streams from the cameras/recorders and convert them into more compatible streaming technologies.

• WebRTC – This (or similar) is the technology used for video conferencing like Zoom, Teams, Skype, etc. It typically requires transcoding the video to something like VP8/9 with special low latency encoder parameters. While yielding the best results, it is cost prohibitive in most cases and is limited to a small number of simultaneous streams (see transcoding above). This has been tested by TetherX but it is presently not used in production.

How TetherX Does It

TetherX supports most streaming technologies and switches between them depending on context.

When local streaming (the TetherBox is able to detect if you are on the same network), if we are viewing less than 10 cameras simultaneously TetherX switches to LHLS (see above) to show the primary video stream from each camera at full resolution/frame-rate (assuming your viewing device is capable of displaying this many streams). If this is not working well for you, you are presented with a toggle to switch off High-def streaming to fall back to loading images.

When full screening a camera (double tap/click a camera), we assume you want the higher quality and we switch to the full primary stream. If your connection is not able to sustain this stream, we automatically fall back to loading images.

When viewing multiple sites / cameras over Internet in record mode, we switch to image viewing but we transcode/transize the images depending on the size of each live view box on your screen. This ensures that you are able to view many simultaneous cameras, the latency is lower than video, it automatically adapts to the available bandwidth and it does not impact recording quality. This does however mean a lower fps.

When viewing multiple sites / cameras over Internet in monitor mode, we proxy the connection directly to the image provided by the camera. This leads to a further lowering of fps but ensures the TetherBox can monitor the health of and provide live view of 10x more cameras than in record mode.

How Hikvision iVMS Does it

Because of the constrains outlined above, in order to show smooth video in iVMS (and Dahua PSS) software, if the connection speeds both on site and viewing device cannot accommodate the streams, the software temporarily reconfigures the cameras to send a lower bitrate stream while keeping the resolution the same.

💡 Note: if you happen to kill the software at this point (or lose connection), this can cause the camera to permanently record in lower quality.

Because many cameras or recorders only support a single stream at above D1 resolution, this means that not only is the live view quality reduced, but also the video being recoded which can lead to losing critical video evidence.

In our testing, limiting the connection to 5mbit 200ms upload and streaming just 4 cameras in HD resulted in blocky and usable footage being recorded on the NVR. It also took over 10 seconds to get an initial image, however the motion was smooth (25fps) once loaded.

In comparison when using images (outside of the iVMS/PSS software), the images loaded almost immediately, the image quality was significantly higher, but the frame-rate was poor (3-4fps) – still sufficient for making decisions in a control room setting, but understandably disappointing in smoothness by comparison. (Note: higher fps can still be achieved by full screening a single camera on demand).

When viewing a smaller number of cameras from the same manufacturer on a single PC or phone, it looks impressive to have smooth 25fps video on iVMS/PSS/others. However, when dealing with 100+ or even 32 cameras, from different manufacturers, different firmware versions, with multiple users, across multiple sites, with differing and fluctuating bandwidths, you begin to appreciate the trade-offs and advantages/disadvantages of each approach.

💡 Note: This approach of custom code to adjust Hikvision camera settings to achieve smoother live view is only suitable if you do not care about recording quality and you are optimising for a single manufacturer with compatible models/firmware.

Summary

Uniview or UNV cameras should work out of the box in most cases. However please note depending on the age of the camera and firmware versions, the RTSP path may be different.

Please try the following paths:

Important: Although it’s possible to configure your camera with DHCP, and TetherBox is capable of detecting any IP changes, we strongly advise against this practice for security reasons. This setting can potentially allow the camera to connect directly to the internet, raising a range of security issues. These include unauthorised access through back doors, or the risk of security holes in the camera’s firmware if it’s not updated regularly.

Video & Audio

Recording Stream (primary)

• For 4K: H.264 4K 25FPS VBR – Quality: Medium – Type: Variable/VBR – Bitrate: 4096kbit – Key Internal: 50, No Watermark

Date & Time

One option is to disable time from being displayed in the camera at all. You generally do this under OSD settings. If you do wish time to be displayed in the image, you need to set the following:

•Usually under Basic/System -> General -> Date & Time

•NTP Server: Set to TetherBox IP address (usually 192.168.88.100)

•DST: Set appropriate settings for your Timezone. e.g. British Summer Time begins at 01:00 GMT on the last Sunday of March and ends at 01:00 GMT (02:00 BST) on the last Sunday of October

Steps to Change Secure Series Camera Compression to H.264

The below steps are needed in order to connect your camera to the Secure 4ch NVR attached with your order. Please log into camera first, default username is “admin” and default password are “1234567u”, from there it will prompt you to change, please do so and follow below steps. If you do not do this first, the camera will not connect to the NVR.

• Log into camera with default credentials

• Change password

• Click on CONFIGURATION across top

• Click STREAM on the left

• Click BASE STREAM below

• You will see STREAM ID and VIDEO ENCODE TYPE. For STREAM ID 1 change the VIDEO ENCODE TYPE TO H.264 and hit APPLY.

• Then change STREAM ID to 2, change VIDEO ENCODE TYPE TO H.264 and hit APPLY.

• Then change STREAM ID to 3, change VIDEO ENCODE TYPE TO H.264 and hit APPLY.

• Log into the cameras web interface on Internet Explorer (IE), default username is “admin” and default password are “1234567u”. Make sure to download the new plugin.

Note: close ALL browser tabs while installing the plugin.

• Parameter Configuration (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Parameter Configure)

◦ Enable face detection

◦ Draw the area according to the real scenario, there is a maximum of 8 areas supported. We usually use one detection area to cover where people could potentially appear in, recommended distance is 9 to 16 feet (3-5 meters) for capturing.

• Leave the Display Trace Info at “Mode 1”

• Show Detection Area, can turn On or Off

• For Confidence Coefficient, we suggest keeping the default value (Mid). It’s for the face matching level with the built-in algorithm.

• Area ID is for the selected areas if you choose more then one main area, up to 8 totals. We suggest keeping this at one and focusing on the main point of entrance.

• For Face Pixel Minimum and Maximum, we suggest keeping the default value (70/1000). Only faces in this range will be detected.

• There are two different Snapshot Modes:

◦ Timing: ‘upload interval’ is associated with ‘timing’, camera will upload one picture every 5 seconds (Suggested).

◦ Optical: ‘snapshot count’ is associated with ‘optical’, camera will upload the best face picture in 5 seconds.

• For Upload Image Interval we suggest leaving at 5 seconds (1-10 second range).

• For Yaw Degree, Tilt Degree, Pitch Degree and OSD Overlay Snapshot, we suggest keeping as default.

• FTP Upload Image Matting and FTP Upload Whole Image are if you are using the camera as a standalone device, no CMS or NVR, and wish to save the facial snaps to an FTP.

• Temperature Parameters

• Enable this field and leave all as DEFAULT except LENGTH UNIT and MOUNT DISTANCE

◦ IF YOU SWITCH TO FAHRENHEIT THE FIELDS STILL STAY AS DEFAULT (Except Length/Mount Distance, mentioned above)

◦ DEPENDING ON THE SELECTION OF “LENGTH UNIT” (METERS/FEET), ALL DISTANCE FIELDS WILL BE CONSIDERED IN THOSE UNITS!

[IMPORTANT] Set the mount distance according to the real installation, whose value should be the horizontal distance from the detection area to the camera.

Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

• Face Alarm Linkage

IF SWITCHED TO FAHRENHEIT YOU MUST ADJUST “ALARM TEMPERATURE”, 99.5-100.5F (Default Celsius is 37.30)[

• [IMPORTANT] Thermal Mapping (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Thermal Mapping)

◦ This step is mainly for matching the thermal image with the visible image, which can ensure the measurement accuracy. The Black Body device (Infrared Calibrator) MUST be in the Field of View of the thermal image. The thermal image is a FIXED LENS and is a smaller field of view then the standard image.

• There are eight groups of ID, and each group ID contains three points. If using One area, then you do not have to set groups 2-8.

• Pick out three points that you can clearly see in the thermal image, mark them with point1, point2 and point3.

• Find the three locations of the three points in the visible image and mark them with the same point numbers associated with those in thermal image.

◦ Note: Suggested to choose three points far away from one another, so the triangle of can cover 70% of the image.

• Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

• Test if the rectangle can correctly surround the face, and perfect it by adjusting the three points.

• Thermal calibration (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Thermal Calibration)

• Install the blackbody properly where the camera can see it (within the thermal image). The blackbody needs to be powered on for at least 20 mins to reach to a stable temperature.

◦ The Infrared Calibrator will ALWAYS display in CELSIUS; the stable temperature is ~40C

• Enable.

• If you turn on ‘Display Area Info’, the blackbody (Infrared Calibrator) will also be shown with temperature on thermal image.

◦ Draw box around your calibrator

• Target Temperature: If using Celsius leave as 40C, if using Fahrenheit change to 104F (Default)

• For Distance, put the real installation distance between the camera and Black Body (Infrared Calibrator). No more then 9-16 feet (3-5 meters). Distance is in Meters or Feet, depending what you selected under the Parameter Config menu.

• Keep the ‘Emission Rate’ as the default value.

• Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

What are the minimum specs required to handle SEC-BODYTEMPCAM1?

For a single camera: i7 processing, at least 8GB of RAM.

From where is the temperature being scanned?

From a point in the middle of the forehead, the temperature is scanned, above the nose and in-between the eyes. If the camera captures a profile image it is using the skin around the earhole for temperature. It is important to note that what is being scanned is skin temperature and not core temperature.

Should people be screened prior to entry?

The camera needs to be set within a controlled environment and cannot be installed outside. The calibrator isn’t weatherproof (IP66) and airflow, whether inside or out, could throw off the camera’s calibration.

If you need to screen people before entering the building, you would need to set up an enclosed tent to scan individuals. The camera can operate in both extreme heat and cold as long as no airflow would skew the results. If an individual is outside for an extended period, in the intense heat or cold without the opportunity to reregulate their temperature, the results might be slightly off, its recommended to wait 20-30 seconds before reading.

Need to wait when coming from outside for accurate reading?

Most of the time, there will not be any accuracy issues when getting scanned. If you have been out in the extreme heat or cold for an extended time you may want someone to wait roughly 30 seconds for their body to adjust to the environment. The camera is taking the skin temperature, which the human body keeps in check very efficiently.

What is your advice for poorly controlled environments?

If you are going to invest in the product, you will also need to invest in creating a controlled environment. If the environment is not controlled, you will not have accuracy.

What effects an individuals’ temperature?

An individuals’ temperature will not read higher based on wearing a darker colored cap or clothing. The temperature scanned is the skin. The camera is using the face detection analytic to detect a human face then apply the algorithm built into the camera to display a temperature that is read from the epidermis of the forehead, or if it is a profile picture captured, the skin around the earhole is used.

If you’re wearing a mask, glasses, hood, hat, or all combined, if those two focal points aren’t blocked, then the camera can give a temperature reading.

Depending on the type of hat, for example, a forwards facing baseball cap pulled down entirely over the forehead can cause an individual not to be scanned. Another factor that could affect the scan is how the camera is mounted. The cameras must not be mounted higher than 8-feet. If the camera is wall-mounted and facing on a downward angle where a hat or hardhat is blocking the forehead, a solution would be to mount the cameras on a tripod to get a more direct shot.

As for individuals who have been out in the extreme heat or cold for an extended time you may want to wait about 30 seconds for their body to adjust to the environment. The camera is taking the skin temperature, which the human body keeps in check very efficiently.

Two real-life examples of cold and hot temperatures:

In New York, the temperatures were averaging 45 degrees, and we had someone whose drive into work took about 20 minutes. While driving, they had the window rolled down and the air continually blowing into their face. They would walk from their car to the office and could feel their skin was cold. When walking into the office, they would get scanned, and their temperature would be between 96.9 and 97 Degrees. After waiting for about 60 seconds, they would rescan, and their temperature would average the mid 97 degrees.

In Arizona, where the temperature was over 100 degrees, we found that when someone was outside for a while, a cooling down about 20-30 seconds was necessary. Initially, their temperature registered at about 102, but after 20 seconds, it stabilized and showed their baseline temperature.

Something to keep in mind is that everyone is different. Two people who are excessively overheated may vary slightly in how fast their bodies regulated their temperature. One person might take about 10 seconds, while another person might take about 45 seconds. We are finding that the average is about 20-30 seconds for someone to regulate back to their baseline skin temperature.

Does the subject have to face the camera?

The subjects face must hit the 7% FOV (Field of View) mark of the camera to get an accurate reading. It is looking for two measurement points. The first point is in the middle of the forehead, roughly the area in-between the two eyes, near the nose, and if it captures a profile image, it is looking for the skin around the ear hole. The person has to be walking into the view of the camera and not away.

What is the ETA on the Fahrenheit firmware fix for US sites?

The firmware is currently available, giving the option for Fahrenheit or Celsius. The product leaves our warehouse with this latest firmware update, and the product comes defaulted to Fahrenheit & Distance comes defaulted to Feet with the option for metric units.

What VMS’s are supported?

As of today 4/29/20, we know Axxon and EXACT are working on an integration. Other companies that have reached out but are not 100% confirmed yet. The SDK is available upon request but each is responsible for their integration.

Without an NVR, will images be stored?

No. The camera will not store any images.

Will the camera do face recognition without an NVR or computer?

The camera only does face detection. The CMS is what handles Facial Recognition if you aren’t running the CMS, face images will not be saved.

Will the camera track a person?

Tracking is based on facial detection. As soon as the 7% mark is met (7% is the required amount to get a temperature), it will read the face detection analytic and then apply the algorithm for the temperature display.

Where are these cameras made?

The cameras are manufactured in China but are not affiliated with and are not OEM made products from Hikvision or Dahua.

Can the camera just be connected to a LAN that has the NVR on it?

Yes, it can be stand alone.

What is the accuracy of the camera?

The accuracy of the camera is 0.54 Degrees Fahrenheit / 0.3 Degrees Celsius.

Is this camera FDA approved for taking Body Temperature readings?

We are currently in the process of working on our 510k Certificate approval.

Will the camera pick up the temp of a person who is walking away?

No. it is not designed to work this way. Depending on the angle, it might be able to capture a profile and on occasion provide a temperature.

Is there a max mounting height from the floor?

Yes, you may not exceed 8 feet from the floor when installing on a wall or ceiling mount.

How do you calibrate the calibrator?

Let the calibrator run for about 15-20 minutes. On the back panel of the calibrator, you will see a display. The display will be in Celsius regardless of the settings in the camera and CMS. Once the screen hits the 40-40.2 degrees, the unit has been calibrated.

Can you set the camera and calibrator to shoot through a glass door?

No, the camera and calibrator must be in sight of one another and cannot see through a glass window or door. There can be no glass between the devices and the subject.

How far away does the calibrator need to be from the camera?

The camera and calibrator must be in view of each other and must not exceed 16 Feet. The recommended distance is 7-16ft. and the calibrator must be in the field of view of the THERMAL image

Does each camera require its own calibrator?

Yes, each camera requires its own calibrator. You cannot use two cameras with a single calibrator. The temperatures will not be accurate.

Can you connect the CMS to a customer’s network?

Yes, the CMS can be connected to a customer’s pc and also run on a pc that is not on the network.

What does CMS stand for?

How many users can log into the CMS simultaneously?

If you are using a computer, will it record video without an NVR?

No, the closest workaround is to add the camera to the CMS. The CMS saves snapshots based on facial recognition. Please keep in mind that if the CMS doesn’t see specific points of a face to realize its a face (such as if the person is partially covered), you may still get a temperature read, but the face snap may not save. The CMS is only saving snapshots, not video.

How to use a cloud feature in the NVR menu?

The cloud feature will be implemented in the future. Once it is fully functional, we will have additional information posted!

How many hours of video can be stored on the NVR?

That will depend on the size of the drive you put in the unit and the number of cameras you have installed. The standard 4-channel unit can house a single hard drive bay, and can use drives ranging from 1-10 Terabytes.

Can the NVR do the job of counting and temperature notification?

No.

Will camera send notifications automatically without an NVR?

If the camera is networked, email notifications can be sent out, even without an NVR. This will include a snapshot with the temperature for individuals who are above the threshold set. The camera also has two alarm outputs that can be utilized.

To use the app, InVid LIVE CMS, the camera would need to be added to the CMS, and the CMS would have to be kept open and running on a PC. If a temperature over the threshold is registered, it will send a push notification to the app.

Is the NVR required for sending email alerts?

No, the camera can send out email alerts. The 4/8/16 Channel NVR does not have the ability to send out email alerts while the 32 channel unit does, for over temperatures.

What type of notifications are triggered by high temp?

You can have an email notification with a snapshot of the individual and temperature range and also the option of one or two sirens if the temperature is above the threshold.

Are there any onboard relays that could be triggered to send an alert

Yes, the camera has 2-alarm outputs. Power is needed, 12/24 volt AC/DC. Settings within the camera can be configured to trigger an alert when a temperature is over the threshold.

Can the system send email and text alarms?

The system can send emails, it includes the picture of the scene with the temperature reading. Currently, there are no text alarms, but it is something we are looking at trying to implement.

Audible alarm once it detects a high temp?

The camera has two notification functions. The first is an email notification. The second is an alarm output trigger. The CMS that links to the camera does have an audible alarm if your computer is set up for sound.

WiFi Camera 3rd Gen setup via Green Feathers app

This guide shows you how to set up your WiFi Bird Box Camera, Solar Powered WiFi Camera, or Garden Wildlife Camera on WiFi

Before you begin

Test the WiFi signal strength by taking your smartphone/tablet to the site where you plan to install your camera; if it has a weak signal at the installation site then the camera may struggle to maintain a connection (see section 9 Hints & Tips at the bottom of the guide for help with WiFi signal strength)
.

Insert a micro SD card if you have one; hold the camera with the lens facing up, then insert the micro SD card with the metal contacts facing up. Push it in fully until you feel it click into place. If you have trouble inserting the SD card to the point where it clicks into place, hold it down with your thumb then use a thin object like a pen to push it down fully
.

Before you mount the camera in the bird box, make sure it’s connected to your WiFi router and can be viewed on the app. It’s best to set the camera up when it’s plugged in a different room to your router, then once it’s connected you can unplug it and install it in the final location

Ensure the device being used to set up the camera is connected to the same WiFi network that you want the camera to be connected to (this is only required for the setup process)

Make sure you know the name and password of the WiFi network which the camera will be connected to

Make sure that you are connecting the camera to a 2.4GHz WiFi signal; if you don’t know what this is you can read more here

Plug in the power supply into the trailing cable of the camera; after the camera has powered on you will hear a three note chime, and the camera will start saying “Wait for WiFi config”

Remove the lens cap on the camera, if it has one, and remove the cap on the reset button

Let’s get started

To get started, open the app:

1. Registering an account

Tap ‘Sign Up’ to create an account, then select ‘Agree’ for the ‘User Agreement and Privacy Policy’. If you have already signed up then skip below to the section called ‘Adding the camera to the app’.

1.Enter your email address, tick ‘I Agree User Agreement and Privacy Policy’ then tap ‘Get Verification Code’. If you would like to use your Google or Facebook account to sign up you can do so by tapping the relevant icon at the bottom of the page.

2.Enter this code into the app.

3.Set a password for your account – make sure it is something memorable.

Once your account is all setup, just log in to the app!

2. Adding the camera to the app

The first time you go to the Home page, you can choose to allow the app to use your device location. This is not essential, but helps with some features. Next, click the green ‘+’ icon at the top right of the screen.

Now select the model of camera you are setting up, then select “QR mode”:

Follow the instructions on the app or below to reset the camera.

1.Place the camera in a separate room to your router, this can help with the setup for first time connection.

2.Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds and then release.

3.Wait for your camera to say “Wait for WiFi config” (this can take up to 20 seconds).

4.Place the cap on the reset button so it’s waterproof. Tick ‘Next step’ when done.

Now tick ‘Next step’ and select ‘Next’.

4. Entering the WiFi details

Now you need to enter the details of the WiFi network that you want the camera to connect to. The name of the WiFi network which your phone or tablet is connected to should be automatically filled in, so just enter the password. To change the WiFi network your device is connected to, tap the icon to the right of the WiFi name:

5. Scanning the QR code

When you select ‘Next’, the app will display a QR code to you. Point the camera 15-20cm away from the QR code, directly facing the screen, and the camera should register it and say ‘Connect router’. When it says this, tap the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button.

If the camera is not scanning the QR code, try slowly increasing or decreasing the distance between the camera and phone screen to bring the QR code into focus. It can sometimes be easier with the phone placed on a flat surface to help keep the camera pointed in the right direction while slowly moving it.

It is also possible to re-adjust the focus on the lens which can be done by gently twisting it. The nut around the bottom of the lens will need loosening first. It is best to adjust the lens a small amount at a time as it shouldn’t be far out of focus.

After you have tapped the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button, the app should automatically begin connecting to the camera.

After a minute or so, it should have found the camera and added it to the app, you can set a name for the camera now, or later on in the settings menu.

6. Troubleshooting

If the camera does not connect to your WiFi:

1.Try resetting it and start again.

2.You can also try the AP mode setup method instead.

3.If this still fails, try setting the camera up in a different room, within range of your WiFi router still. Most modern WiFi routers use a combination of different WiFi frequencies (2.4GHz and 5GHz), but these cameras can only connect to 2.4GHz. Moving to another room can reduce interference from the 5GHz signal. To see other solutions to this issue you can read more here.

4.You can also email us here to speak to a member of our Helpdesk team.

If you have connected it to your internet router, but it shows the message ‘Establishing encrypted channel‘ and doesn’t load:

1.Try closing the app and re-opening it.

2.If that doesn’t work, please check what version of app you are using (go to the ‘Me’ section of the app, then select Settings > About). If the ‘Current Version’ is 1.0.0 then you will need to uninstall the app and re-install it, then log back in. You will not need to set the camera back up if you do this, it will remain connected to your Wi-Fi router.

Remember, this guide only applies to the 3rd Gen NCIP3WF which was released in December 2020, if you have an older model of the camera have a look at our guide for the NCIP9WF or for the NCIP2WF. If you are unsure which camera you have, have a look at this article.

7. Adding and renaming the camera

Now you can rename the camera by tapping the pencil icon to the right of the camera name. Once it is added, to view the camera go back to the ‘Home’ page using the icon at the bottom left then select your camera from the list.

Once the circle has filled and the camera is connected to the network, you can set a name for the camera by tapping on it.

If the camera does not connect at this stage, try going through the wired setup steps again without resetting the camera.

5. Resetting the camera

1. Power on the device and wait for it to play three notes to indicate it has started up
2. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds; you will hear it say ‘Reset, camera reboot’.
3. When the camera starts saying ‘Wait for Wi-Fi config’ or has a flashing red indicator light, tick ‘Next step’. Once your camera has been reset you can re-connect it to Wi-Fi.

Connecting Amazon Alexa-Enabled Devices with Ring Devices, Use the Amazon Alexa App to set up your Alexa-enabled devices, listen to music, create shopping lists, get news updates, and much more. The more you use Alexa, the more she adapts to your voice, vocabulary, and personal preferences.

You can connect your compatible Amazon Echo, Echo Show, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet to your Ring device and use Alexa voice commands to do the following (and more):

• Answer your door (and receive chime notifications on your Alexa-enabled device).

• Speak to your visitors.

• Get a Live View from your doorbell or camera feed (only for compatible devices with screen display).

• Arm and disarm your Ring modes.*

Connect your Ring device to your Alexa-enabled device

First, you’ll need to download the Alexa app on your mobile device or tablet. Get the Alexa app from the Apple App Store (iOS devices), or the Google Play Store (Android devices).

You may also need to update your mobile device’s operating system.

If you already have the Ring app you’ll need to ensure you have the latest version.

Next, follow these steps to add Ring as a Skill in the Alexa app:

1.Open the Alexa app and go to More.

2.Tap Skills & Games

3.Tap the Search icon, enter Ring, then select it from the results.

4.Type Ring into the search field

5.Tap Ring (first result)

6.Tap Enable to Use

◦ Sign in with your Ring account details to link your Ring and Amazon accounts.

7.Tap Enable Skill and Link Accounts.

◦ If your account is already linked, tap Enable Skill

8.Once the Skill is enabled, tap Discover Devices

9.Alexa will be enabled on all of your Ring devices. To disable Alexa from a particular device, tap Forget next to the device name

Note: If your Ring devices do not appear after you tap Discover Devices, you can say, “Alexa, discover my devices,” or tap the Devices icon at the bottom right corner of the Alexa app.

Connecting Amazon Alexa-Enabled Devices with Ring Devices

Activate chime notifications on your Alexa-enabled device

Once you’ve connected your Ring doorbell to your Alexa-enabled device, you can set up chime notifications to get an alert on your Echo or Fire TV device when someone presses your doorbell.

Follow these steps to get Chime Notifications:

1.Open the Alexa app and tap the Devices icon at the bottom right corner

2.Tap All Devices at the top

3.Tap Video Doorbell

4.Tap Doorbell Press Announcements to enable the feature

Note: Make sure each Alexa device you enable for Chime Notifications has Communication and Announcements enabled and the Do Not Disturb feature turned off in the Alexa app.

Activate Ring Intercom notifications on your Alexa-enabled device

Once you’ve connected your Ring Intercom to your Alexa-enabled device, you can set up Ring Intercom notifications to get an alert on your Echo or Fire TV device when someone buzzes your Ring Intercom.

1.Open the Alexa app and tap the Devices icon in the footer.

2.Tap All Devices at the top.

3.Tap Ring Intercom.

4.Tap Settings on the top right corner.

5.Tap Announcement Devices.

◦ Now you can choose what Alexa devices should receive a call notification when a visitor buzzes your Ring Intercom.

Answer the door or Ring Intercom with Alexa

After you’ve connected your Ring doorbell or Ring Intercom to your Alexa-enabled device, you can answer the door and speak to your visitors through your Echo or Fire TV device.

To speak to your visitor, you can say:

• Alexa, talk to [Ring Doorbell Name].

• Alexa, answer [Ring Doorbell Name].

• Alexa, speak to [Ring Intercom Name].

• Alexa, talk to [Ring Intercom Name].

Configure unlock by voice for your Ring Intercom

Follow the steps to enable unlock by voice and create a voice code

1.Open the Alexa app and tap Devices

2.Tap All Devices

◦ Create your voice code. The Alexa app will ask for your Amazon account password that you use for your Alexa-enabled device.

Unlock your building entrance using Alexa with Ring Intercom

To unlock the building door using Alexa, say Alexa, unlock [Ring Intercom Name]. Alexa will then ask you for your voice code to complete the action.

Get Live View from your Ring camera with Alexa

If you have an Echo Show, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet, you can use Alexa commands to view the live video stream from your Ring doorbell or security camera.

To get a live view from your Ring camera, you can say:

• Alexa, show [Ring Device Name].

• Alexa, show my [Front Door]

To stop the live video feed, you can say:

• Alexa, hide [Ring Device Name].

• Alexa, hide [Front Door].

• Alexa, stop.

• Alexa, go Home.

Note: “Front Door” is an example and may differ from the location labels that you assigned to your device(s) during setup. Other examples – backyard, side door, garage, etc.

Arm and disarm your modes

You can ask your Alexa-enabled device to change the mode to disarmed or armed* for your Ring devices, including cameras and Ring Alarm.

Control which Alexa devices can access Live View on your Ring devices

Once you’ve connected your Ring device(s) to Alexa, you can change which Alexa devices have access to Live View at any time in the Ring app.

1.Open the Ring app.

2.Tap the menu (≡), then tap Control Center.

3.Choose Amazon Account Linking.

◦ Check if your Amazon account is already linked under “Link Amazon Account”. If you see “No account linked,” tap Link and follow the steps in the app to link your account. Make sure the box is checked for Ring skill.

4.If your Ring and Amazon accounts are linked, you can scroll down to see a list of all your connected Alexa devices on the linked Amazon account.

5.Use the toggles to enable or disable Live View access for each device. Remember, you can adjust these settings from this screen at any time.

If you enabled the Ring Skill on an Amazon/Alexa account that is not linked to your Ring account, the Alexa devices will not be listed here. If you wish to remove access to your Ring account for those Alexa devices, you can do so from the associated Amazon/Alexa account.

Ring and Alexa troubleshooting tips

• If your Ring device’s battery is low, it may take up to 30 seconds or longer to “wake up” after receiving a command. Ensure your device has a continuous charge with a rechargeable Battery Pack.

• If your Alexa-enabled device takes a long time connecting to your Ring device (or can’t connect at all), you may need to extend your wifi network with a Chime Pro to boost the device signals.

Arming, Disarming, and Setting Modes on your Ring Alarm

Security modes

These three modes on your Ring Alarm will protect your home in different ways. You can switch between them depending on your needs.¹

Disarmed Mode

In this mode, no sensors in your home will be monitored and no alerts will be sent to the monitoring station. Your Alarm system will still be powered on and functioning.

Use this mode when you’re at home and want the freedom to easily go in and out of your house. Fire and CO sensors (if they are attached to the system) will still be monitored.²

Home Mode

In this mode, only your perimeter sensors (doors and windows) will be monitored. Use this when you’d like to move freely inside your home. You can control which sensors are monitored in Home Mode by setting them in your Ring app:

Away Mode

Arming your system

To arm your system using the Ring app¹

1.Open your Ring app. You’ll see the same mode icons as on your Alarm Keypad.

2.Tap the Home or Away mode.

Panic alarm

This feature lets you send a panic alarm to the monitoring station anytime. To turn it on, press and hold the ✓ and X buttons on the Keypad simultaneously for 3 seconds.

The Keypad will then send an instant alarm signal to the hub, the Keypad LED Ring will quickly blink red three times, and the speaker will play the panic alarm sound.

Using 3D Motion Detection

3D Motion Detection, only available with Video Doorbell Pro 2, Floodlight Cam Wired Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro, uses radar to detect distance of an object providing more precise motion detection over camera vision detection, reducing false alerts, and allows pinpoint customization of detection areas.

Camera Motion Zones and Bird’s Eye Zones provide additional customization to trigger video recording only when someone steps into your defined motion zones. The radar that powers 3D Motion Detection also has additional benefits such as:

Bird’s Eye View shows the path of visitors on an aerial map view for motion events recorded by your camera.

Powered by radar technology, Bird’s Eye View shows each person’s position as a series of dots on the map you defined during 3D Motion Detection setup. For example, Bird’s Eye View will show you the current location of a delivery person dropping off a package, as well as the path they took to get there (even if they’ve already left the camera’s field of view by the time you start the live stream).

Bird’s Eye View is available with Video Doorbell Pro 2, Floodlight Cam Wired Pro, Spotlight Cam Pro and Stick Up Cam Pro.

How do I get Bird’s Eye View set up?
After setting up 3D Motion Detection, Bird’s Eye View will be automatically enabled for that device on your account, and the accounts of any Shared Users who have access to that device. Where can I access the Bird’s Eye View in the Ring app?

What are the dots on the Bird’s Eye View and why are they different colors?
Yellow dots in Bird’s Eye View monitor the current path of your visitor. As each dot gets older, it will gradually grow redder and more transparent before disappearing fully after a few seconds. Yellow dots appear in both live streams as well as in motion recordings on the Event Timeline.

Gray dots only appear in live steams, and show where activity was detected before you answered the alert on your phone or tablet. The most recent dot is white, and the entire trail quickly fades away after you’ve entered the Live Stream. For instance, if you open a motion alert after 10 seconds, these gray dots will show where activity was detected for that time before you began live streaming.

Can I hide Bird’s Eye View when I’m watching a live stream or a recording?
Yes, just tap the X in the lower-left corner of the Bird’s Eye View picture-in-picture window.

Can I share videos that include my Bird’s Eye View?
Not at this time.

Can I disable Bird’s Eye View?
If you would prefer to not see the Bird’s Eye View picture-in-picture, you can easily disable it without impacting your 3D Motion Detection Settings.

On your main dashboard, tap the three dots in the upper right of the tile showing your Ring device.
Tap Settings.

Tap 3D Motion Detection.
Tap Bird’s Eye View.
Slide Show on Timeline to the disabled position. You can always re-enable later.

What devices and systems does AlfredCamera support?

To make home security accessible to everyone, we try to make AlfredCamera available on as many smartphone/tablet devices and operating systems as possible. You can connect devices running across Android and iOS systems, use Alfred’s WebCamera / WebViewer, or AlfredCam.

As a rule of thumb, if you can find the AlfredCamera app on the Google Play Store or App Store on your device, it most likely means that the Alfred app can run on your device. What are the recommended OS requirements for my device?

1.Viewer devices

You can set almost any smartphone and tablet device as Viewer devices, as long as they run on systems Android 5.0+ and iOS 11+. The same Viewer device requirements apply if you also use AlfredCam (Alfred’s own hardware camera). We suggest that you use your daily phones as Viewer devices.

2.Camera devices

As long as you can find Alfred’s app on the Google Play Store or App Store, you can use your device as a camera.

Storage Requirements

Motion Detection

While Alfred keeps your Events and Moments in the Cloud, we still need some local storage to generate snapshots and perform other basic actions on your device.

• Android devices: Alfred requires 24-25 MB of storage from your Camera device
(If your device runs on Android 7.0 and up, Alfred will need around 40 MB of local storage to run all the APIs)

• iOS devices: Alfred requires 24-32 MB of storage from your Camera device

Continuous Recording

The Continuous Recording footage is saved on your Camera device instead of in the Cloud. Free users and Premium users have different storage requirements:

• Free users: 0.6 GB from your Camera device

• Premium users: 2.4 GB from your Camera device

Alfredcam (AC101)

AlfredCam is Alfred’s own hardware camera, which requires an SD card inserted if you want to enable Continuous Recording. On the other hand, there are no other storage requirements if you only use the AlfredCam for Motion Detection. Event (motions triggered) and Moment (manually recorded/saved) videos are stored on Alfred’s Clouds for 7 days or 14 days depending on your subscription status.

Internet Requirements

1. Not only your Camera and Viewer devices, but AlfredCam also needs internet connections to function

• Camera device: Your Camera device must always be connected to a stable internet to run Motion Detection, record videos, and upload videos onto the Cloud

• Viewer device: Your Viewer device requires an internet connection to receive notifications, watch Live streaming, or play a Motion Detection video

• AlfredCam (AC101): AlfredCam currently only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and does not support mobile networks or 5GHz Wi-Fi at the moment

Most of our users connect their Camera devices or AlfredCam to their WiFi at home and use their Viewer devices on mobile or office networks. However, the WiFi signal has a higher chance of being unevenly distributed or inconsistent, so we recommend checking Connection Report or WiFi Signal Strength (for AlfredCam) to see if your WiFi signal needs to be improved. You can also use the WiFi Analyzer app to help find an area with the strongest signal to place your Camera device or AlfredCam.

Additionally, you can try the following suggestions to improve your network stability (this does not apply to the AlfredCam):

• Delete unnecessary apps to save bandwidth (⚠️ Keep Google Play Service for Alfred to work)

• Move your router or install a WiFi extender if you have trouble getting signals in some corners

• Assign bandwidth priority for Alfred

2. How much data does Alfred use?

Data consumption may vary depending on lighting conditions, movement frequencies, and more. While it’s hard to be specific about Alfred’s data consumption, here are some guidelines that might help you:

• Live feed: between 20-70 KB /sec (depending on the lighting condition)

• Motion Detection snapshot: 20-50 KB

• A 5-second Motion Detection Event:

• Free users: 80-120 KB

• Premium users: 400-600 KB

If you want to get a more accurate idea of how much data your Alfred needs, we recommend that you test Alfred out for a day or two.

3. Does Alfred work when I’m abroad?

As long as all devices are connected to the internet, Alfred works regardless of the distance between the devices. Make sure your Camera devices have a stable connection and that your Viewer devices are connected to a WiFi network or can access international roaming.

When you’re away from home, don’t forget to keep your Camera devices plugged in.

⚠️ Note: Since Alfred relies heavily on Google’s technology, if the country you’re in doesn’t support Google, Alfred will not be able to function properly.

What permissions does Alfred need? How do I turn them on?

To ensure it runs smoothly, there are a few permissions to grant Alfred. Below are the permissions Alfred needs and why:

1.Record audio: You can hear as well as speak to the Camera device from your Viewer device.

2.Record videos: Alfred is a home security app that records and delivers videos.

3.Download videos/video files: Alfred requests Media and Photo permission to save videos

4.Display over other apps: To ensure Alfred runs without interruption and your camera goes offline.

How do I set up AlfredCam?

Our mission is to make home security simple and accessible to everyone. With AlfredCam, you only need one Viewer device to set up your security systems. You may download our app on Google Play Store or App Store on your Viewer device, and pair it up with AlfredCam (Alfred’s own hardware camera).

Download the AlfredCamera app on your Viewer device

Please download the AlfredCamera app on your Viewer device from one of the below platforms (see more information on the device and systems requirements here):

Create or Log in to your account

If this is your first time using the AlfredCamera app, you will be asked to set up an account. You may sign up with your Google account, Apple ID, or email address to create a new Alfred account. You can see more information on how to set up your Alfred account here.

Connect AlfredCam with your Viewer device

1.Make sure your AlfredCam is plugged into a power source, you should see the Status LED on your AlfredCam is in solid RED 🔴.

2.On your Viewer device, tap “Add a Camera” and select “AlfredCam“

3.AFTER the Status LED turns slowly blinking GREEN 🟢, tap “I see the green light blinking“
⚠️ Note: If you do not see the green light blinking, please tap “Not seeing the green light blinking?” and reset your camera with the paper clip by pushing the reset button in for 5 seconds. When you hear a beep from your AlfredCam, please tap “I heard a beep“. Then follow the instructions to retry again.

4.Select your 2.4GHz WiFi network > tap “OK” > enter your network password > tap “Next“
⚠️ Note: The Alfred app will only ask for location access during the pair-up process by searching for the WiFi nearby to help pair up devices. If you have privacy concerns, you may choose “Allow once”, and the location access will be automatically de-authorized after the pair-up process is complete.

5.Scan the QR code
A. Hold your camera up to your phone screen with the QR code displaying, and keep 6-12 inches of distance in between.
B. AFTER you hear “QR code scanned“, tap “I heard QR code scanned“. Then wait for a few seconds to complete the setup.⚠️ Note: To avoid glare causing unsuccessful scanning, please remove the transparent sticker on the AlfredCam and adjust the screen brightness.

6.Once the Status LED turns solid Green 🟢, you’re all set! When prompted on the next screen, follow the instructions to turn on Motion Detection.

What type of SD cards are compatible with AlfredCam?

How to reboot or factory reset AlfredCam?

Reboot AlfredCam

Reboot Remotely

1.Tap the Camera’s settings wheel

2.Scroll down and tap “Reboot Camera”

3.Confirm by tapping “Reboot”

4.Your camera will be temporarily disabled/offline and then reboot itself once the update is complete. It may take a few minutes to complete the process.

⚠️ Note: While your AlfredCam is being rebooted, the app will automatically take you back to the camera list. Your AlfredCam will be offline for a few minutes (you may see error code 7007) before it comes back online by itself.

Reboot Manually

If you are not able to reboot remotely, you can manually unplug and plug it back in again to reboot your AlfredCam.

Please make sure to check your LED indicator light before unplugging your AlfredCam. When the LED indicator light is flashing green, it indicates that it is in the middle of updating its firmware. Unplugging during the firmware update or video recording may cause fatal damage to hardware or even fail to save videos.

Factory Reset AlfredCam

Resetting your AlfredCam device may be necessary to troubleshoot any issues that you encounter while using it. This could include situations such as changing your current Wi-Fi name or password, moving your AlfredCam to a different location with a different Wi-Fi network, or other situations that require a network reset.

1.Reset your camera with a paper clip or a pen pushing the reset button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep.

2.Wait for your AlfredCam to restart by itself

3.When hearing “Ready to Pair”, it indicates that your AlfredCam has been reset to the factory settings

4.Start pairing your AlfredCam again
(You may refer to the setup steps in How do I set up AlfredCam?)

⚠️Note:

• Factory reset will not delete your Motion Events that are saved in Alfred’s cloud. If your Motion Events are still within the storage period, you should be able to see your videos after re-pairing your AlfredCam to the same account.

• Factory reset will not delete the Continuous Recording playback saved in your SD card. If you would like to offer your AlfredCam to other people, it is recommended to take out your SD card or Delete All Footage beforehand.

Night Vision (AlfredCam)

Night Vision can be switched Automatic, On, or Off

Automatic On Off

AlfredCam’s Night Vision functions based on six 850nm infrared LED lights on each camera to show you a clear black and white image even in a dark environment. It allows you to see objects up to 16ft (5m) to 22ft (7m) away, depending on the size of the objects and the light source around them. When Night Vision is set to Automatic, it will detect the light source around the environment and automatically switch to black-and-white vision when there’s insufficient light.

Night Vision: Automatic (Recommended)

When Night Vision is set to automatic, it detects the light source around the camera and will either show the natural color or switch to a black-and-white vision when there is insufficient light. If your AlfredCam is in an environment that does not get consistent light, it is recommended to set Night Vision to Automatic. To turn on this mode, please follow the steps below:

⚠️Night Vision will be set to Automatic by default for new users.

2.Find and tap the Moon icon TWICE (shows a letter “A” in the top right corner when it’s set to Automatic)

Night Vision: On

Turning Night Vision on means the video image will stay black and white at all times, whether it’s daytime or nighttime. If your AlfredCam is in a dark or low-light environment, it is recommended to turn on the Night Vision to ensure that you can always see clear images. To turn on this mode, please follow the steps below:

1.Enter your AlfredCam live session

2.Find and tap the Moon icon at the bottom menu (icon turns white when it’s on)

Night Vision: Off

When Night Vision is set to Off, the image will stay in natural color during daytime and nighttime. This means that when the light source in the camera’s view is insufficient, the image could be unclear or too dark for you to see. It is only recommended to set Night Vision to Off when there is a constant light source in the viewable area.

If you would like to turn Night Vision off, please follow the steps below:

1.Enter your AlfredCam live session

2.Find and tap the Moon icon at the bottom menu

What if I’m having trouble pairing my AlfredCam?

Navigating through the pairing process of AlfredCam can sometimes pose challenges. If you’re having trouble pairing the AlfredCam, you may refer to the LED status light as an indicator of your current situation.

The following paragraph will help you find more information and further pair up your AlfredCam:

If the Status LED is slowly blinking Green 🟢, but you’re unable to scan the QR code successfully, please check the suggestions below:

⚠️ AlfredCam only works with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, please make sure you choose a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi while pairing.

1.Make sure to peel off the plastic sticker on your lens before you start to pair the device

2.Make sure to use the cable and power adaptor that came with your original package

3.Avoid pairing the device under direct lighting or intense surrounding light source

4.Avoid reflection on your mobile screen by scanning the QR code from different angles and distance

5.Adjust the brightness of the screen of your Viewer device and scan the QR code within 3 minutes

If you hear the following voice command and you see the Status LED fast blinking RED 🔴 and GREEN 🟢, please reset your camera with a paper clip or a pen, pushing the reset button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep, then follow the troubleshooting tips to pair the AlfredCam again.

How do I set up Alfred’s WebCamera?

Connect Your System

1.Connect Your System

Step 1. [Important] Properly install the Antennas for the cameras Step 2. Power up the cameras using the power supplies (12V 1A)

Step 3. Connect the NVR to your wall socket with its power supply (12V 2A) Step 4. Connect the NVR to your router with an Ethernet cable

Step 5. Connect the NVR to a HD monitor (at least 1920x1080p) with either a HDMI or VGA Step 6. Plug the mouse (included) into the USB port at the rear panel of the NVR.

Once you complete the steps above, it should be pretty much ready to go. Within seconds, there will be a live video showing up on the screen.

Username: admin

Password: By default, there is no password for initial login (Please just leave it blank and click login)

Tips: To protect your privacy, you may right click the mouse > Go to System Setup > System Admin > User > Set password to change your password.

2.Choose the Mounting Location

2.1Mount the cameras anywhere within the Wi-Fi range, plug the power adapter to the camera and connect it to the power socket nearby.

2.2The cameras should start streaming videos within 1 minute (or less).

2.3If it does not display video, it is probably because of external factors such as concrete walls, glasses, mirrors, fish tank, etc., or the distance between camera and NVR, i.e. too far away, please try to move the cameras closer to the NVR.

3.Install Your Cameras to Ceilings or Walls

3.1Locate the area where you want to install the camera. Drill the 3 screw holes for the anchors, hammer in the plastic anchors, line up the camera’s screw holes with the screw holes you drill into the wall, you may un-screw the camera from the camera base if you want, install the screws, and then twist the camera back onto the base.

3.2Aim the camera where you want. You may use the Torx Wrench to adjust the camera up and down.

3.3Or you may move the camera left or right to your desired angle.

4.Wired Connection

If you plan to install the camera somewhere out of the Wi-Fi range, you may need to connect the camera to your router (with an Ethernet cable) in order to get better video streaming.

4.1Use standard network cable to connect the camera to your Router (See the diagram below):

4.2After you connect the camera to the router, go to the NVR menu, right click the mouse > go to [Video Manage] > [Refresh] > [Auto Add]. The camera will be added automatically, and the video will show up on the monitor.

Tips: Use Auto Add (Per 4.2 above) when you are doing a wired connection between the camera and your router. However, if you want the camera to work wirelessly (without connecting to the router), use Match Code to add camera to NVR. See instruction below on Add camera by Matching Code.

Step 1: Connect the NVR to the Internet

Connect the NVR to your router with an Ethernet cable. In a few minutes, you should be able to see the Cloud ID and

Status (showed as ONLINE) at the bottom right corner of your screen. See below

Download and run the app. On the login screen, tap Register, enter your Username, Password, and Email Address to create a new account.

Tips: You will receive an email to verify your email address, in that email, click the link to verify the email address. By doing this, you will be able to reset your password in case you forget it.

Once you complete the registration, login the App, press “+” at top right corner > Add device > Add Recorder:

Enter your device information below:

Cloud ID: The Cloud ID can be found at right bottom corner of the screen, you can manually enter this ID. Or you can scan the Cloud ID here: right click the mouse > go to System Setup > Network Setup > Show QR code. See below:

Tap SAVE. Tap on any channel to go to live view screen, see below:

View on PC using Software Client

Step 1: Download EseeCloud.exe from CD and install it to your computer.

(If your CD is broken, contact us for the link to download EseeCloud.exe)

Double click EseeCloud on your PC to run the software client, on the User Login, enter username, password and click login. You may want to check the box to the left hand side of Remember password so you don’t need to enter password each time you login.

Tip: Default username is admin, no password required for initial login, just leave it blank.

Step 2.1: Add Device by Cloud ID

Go to Device Management > Add Device > Cloud ID.

Cloud ID: Please refer to the instruction above on how to find the cloud ID.

Username: Default: admin

Password: Default: No password required, just leave it blank

Type: Choose NVR

Number of Channels: If your NVR is a 4-Channel one, enter 4.

Step 2.2: Add Device within LAN

1.1.1Go to Device Management, click the Refresh button, it will show up the device which is within the LAN, see below.

1.1.2Click the Add button to add the device. The device will then show up within Device, you can find more options to the right hand side of the Device. See below:

Step 3: Image Preview

After you add the device successfully, click Live View > Device List, right click on the Device Name > Connect Videos, see below:

If your PC is located in the same LAN as the NVR (normally means they are connected to the same router).

Step1: Find the IP address and Web port of your NVR (IP address can be found in System Setup > Network Setup), see below:

Step 2: Enter the NVR’s IP address into your IE browser like this: http://your-ip-address, for example: http://192.1.0.102 (If the default port number 80 has been changed e.g. to 100, you will also need to add the new port number at the end of the IP address, for example: http://192.168.1.100:100).

User Name: admin

Password: By default no password required, just leave it blank

If your PC is NOT within the same LAN as the NVR (For example, you want to remotely access your home cameras while you are in your office):

⑴ Open your Internet Explorer (IE) and go to www.e-seenet.com

⑵ Enter Cloud ID, Username and Password to login.

Cloud ID: The Cloud ID can be found at right bottom corner of your monitor.

User Name: By default, admin

Password: By default no password required, just leave it blank

Step 3: If this is the first time that you use IE to view your cameras, you may be asked to download and install some add-ons (i.e. WebClient.exe) in order to gain full access, please go on and follow the on-screen instruction to install the add-on. Once it is installed, close your IE and re-open it to enter the NVR’s IP address. Meanwhile, on your IE, please go to:

⑴ Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > Custom Level.

⑵ Scroll down the mouse until you see ActiveX controls and plug-ins. If you have Internet Explorer 9 or 11, disable

Allow ActiveX Filtering.

⑶ Choose Prompt for the following: Download signed ActiveX controls

Download unsigned ActiveX controls

Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting

Step4: Click OK to exit the Security Settings after you complete the settings.

Add Cameras by Matching Code

1.When do you normally use Match Code?

1.1Add extra cameras to your system.

1.2Re-pair the camera to the NVR if connection fails. Delete it first from Added Device, then re-pair it to any vacant channel again. (The status of a vacant channel always shows No Video Source).

2.Add extra camera by Matching Code

2.1Power on the new camera connect it to the NVR through Network cable.

2.2Right-click your mouse on the NVR menu, go to Video Manage. (See the screenshot to the right)

2.3Click Refresh > Find the camera’s IP > Click Match Code. The NVR will start to match code with the camera. After it matches code successfully, the “status” will show as “Connect success”, which means the camera has been added to the NVR successfully. See below:

3.Re-pair the camera (which has no video output) by Matching Code

To do Match Code, you will need to delete the failed channel first, Right click > Video Manage > Added device, choose the failed channel, then click Delete to the right hand side. Then follow step 2.3 as stated above.

Tips: All cameras provided in the box are already pre-paired with the NVR, so normally you don’t need to do Match Code for the cameras supplied.

Video Recording

Your system may not include an internal Hard Drive. (This depends on which model you bought, we sell systems with or without hard drive). If your system does not include a hard drive, please install one of your own, the system works with most 3.5 inch SATA Hard Drive.

1.Install a Hard Drive (If your system has a preinstalled hard drive already, skip this section)

⑴ Power off the NVR system and unplug all cables, NVR cover is secured with screws. Remove the screws and slide the cover off.

⑵ Find the two SATA Connections (power and data) on the NVR main board, plug the two cable connections into the hard drive (They only go one way), place the HDD over the screw slots of your NVR and slide the HDD into place, then install the hard drive with the screws.

Tips: Once the hard drive is installed go to the NVR setting and find HDD Setup: Right click the mouse > Go to System setup > General setup > HDD Setup > Format, then click on Format. The hard drive should format then after a restart be ready to use.

2.Record video

Right click the mouse > Go to System Setup > Record Setup > Choose the Channel > Click Time > Set up the time frame on the grid > Click Copy to > All > OK > OK.

Tips: When you are setting up the time frame for recording, you can left click and drag your mouse, or you can left click the little box on the grid, the color of the little box will change, which means it has been selected. Each day of the week is corresponding to 3 lines, the first line for Time (regular recording), the second line for Motion (motion recording), and the third line for Alarm (alarm recording). You should click Time, Motion, or Alarm above the grid first before you configure the timing below.

Video Playback

Right click the mouse > Video playback. You can set the search criteria: Date, Time, Channel, Record Mode (Manual/Motion/Time/Alarm), and click Search. Left click or drag your mouse on the time bar (at the bottom) to start the playback. Under Search, you can see all episodes of the recording, navigate to your desired page and episode, and click File Playback to play.

Motion Detection Recording

Step1: Right click the mouse, go to System Setup > Record Setup > Choose the Channel > Click Motion > Set up the time frame on the grid > Click Copy to > All > OK > OK. You may click Reset to erase all the selection on the grid, and configure again. If you schedule the recording the way below (green line from Sun to Sat, 00:00-24:00), it means your NVR will only record when movement is detected within this time frame (Sunday-Saturday, 24/7).

Step2: Go to Channel Setup > Video detection > Choose the Channel, then from the drop-down menu of Detection, choose Motion > Set up the Sensitivity > Check the boxes below for Alarm, Buzzer, Email Notice or App Alarm per your needs > Click Copy to > Choose All > Click OK to save the setting.

Tips: The area being monitored for motion can be edited under Area Edit. Click Area Edit, by default, the whole screen was selected and being monitored, if you want to mask specific area, left click and drag your mouse, or simply left click your mouse on specific boxes of the grid to unselect them. You can also right click your mouse to unselect the whole screen, or select the whole screen over again, right click your mouse and choose Return to exit.

How to Do Video Backup via USB Device

Step 1 Find a USB memory stick. Since there is only one USB port on the NVR, please find the USB adapter provided in the package, connect it to the USB port of your NVR, it will then allow you to connect multiple USB devices (mouse and the memory stick) into the same USB port.

Step 2 Right click the mouse > Choose Video backup > Choose the Channel, Record mode, Search time > Click

Search > Select the video you want to backup > Click Backup.

Tips: The maximum backup capacity is 32GB. Recordings will be backed up at hourly intervals.

Frequently Asked Question

Question: I have connected the system, but nothing is showing on my monitor?

Answer:

1.Check the cable connection from the NVR to your Monitor/TV.

2.Try another HDMI, or VGA cable. HDMI signal is sometimes picky, use only GOLD PLATED HDMI, or use VGA connection if HDMI does not work.

3.Your Monitor/TV does not support the default output of the NVR, make sure your Monitor/TV’s resolution is no less than 1024×768 pixels. In fact, we suggest a monitor/TV with a minimum resolution of 1920×1080 (1080p).

4.If there is no picture on the monitor only after you mistakenly change the NVR’s output resolution, you need to change it back to default. In this case, you need to connect the NVR to a different monitor/TV with higher resolution and then change it back to lower resolution.

5.If you can access the NVR menu but there is no video feed on the monitor, you may need to check whether the cameras are being installed within the Wi-Fi range, if not, you will need to do wired connection instead, see the instruction above.

Question: The system worked for a while then some channels started to lose signals, why?

Answer:

1.Make sure all cameras are within the Wi-Fi range so none of them disconnects from Wi-Fi.

2.Try use wired connection if cameras are to be installed outside the Wi-Fi range.

3.Reset your system, then re-pair all the cameras with the NVR. Check the instruction above.

4.Check the firmware version and forward it to us, we will check for firmware update (if applicable).

Question: Does the NVR record sound?

Answer: This NVR does not record audio, it records video only.

Question: The night vision of my camera is terrible?

Answer:

1.Make sure not to aim your camera towards something JUST in front of the lens, i.e. wall, flowers, etc.

2.Do not face the camera towards glass, mirror, etc. They will reflect the IR lights from the camera.

3.Do not face the camera lens towards direct lamps or sunlight.

4.Light up the ambient area a little bit, in complete darkness, night performance may be affected.

Question: My camera is getting misty inside, is there a known fix?

Answer: Condensation occurs in a humid environment as a result of the difference of the temperatures of the air and the object on which it occurs. In most cases it will clear up itself. The mist is more or less a rapid drop in temperature – one solution might be the use of a see-through rain cover, or a large enough zip-lock bag with appropriate cuts, applied before taking the camera out of doors to minimize the humidity trapped in it.

Otherwise, the same humidity will still condense within the rain cover itself instead of in the camera just like when one uses a rain cover in cold weather with a warm camera. Another, not as practical, but effective solution might be to regulate the temperature around the camera, but isolating it from humidity is the more guaranteed solution, even if it is only applicable in very few situations. If the issue remains, you may send it back for replacement, please contact us via email.

Question: My NVR is not recording, why?

Answer: We sell NVR with / without hard drive, so make sure your NVR comes with a preinstalled hard drive. If your NVR does not include a hard drive, you can source one on your own, or you can purchase one from us. If you have a spare hard drive and you can install on your own, make sure it is a 3.5 inch internal hard drive with SATA connector.

If your NVR comes with a hard drive but it is not recording, please verify the hard drive info, if it is not showing hard drive info, open the NVR case and verify the cable connection. If it shows up error under the hard drive info, Right click the mouse > Go to System setup > General setup > HDD Setup > Format, then click on Format.

Note that because the hard drive records continuously (24/7), it may become corrupted after some time, we warrant the hard drive up to 12 month following the purchase date, if your hard drive is not recording anymore, you may still contact us via email.

Question: The NVR kept shutting down or rebooting.

Answer:

1.Format the HDD: Right click > System Setup > General Setup > HDD Setup > Format.

2.Disconnect the hard drive from the NVR, you will need to slide off the NVR cover in order to do so, once it is disconnected, check whether the problem continues on a standalone NVR. If no, re-connect the hard drive back to the NVR and test again.

3.Replace the power adapter for NVR.

4.If the issue follows, that may be the problem of the NVR. Please contact us via email.

Question: I forget my login password and I am locked out?

Answer: You can use the following method to reset your system manually.

On the log-in screen, if you enter the wrong password, it should give you the above error message. Don’t click the OK button yet, instead, hover your mouse there, left click, right click, left click, right click, repeat this operation a few more times, until you see the following screen, which indicates you can reset your system now, click Yes to proceed.

Question: How to set up email notification (for example, Gmail)?

Answer:

Step 1. Right Click > System setup > Network setup > Check the NVR status and make sure it is online, see below:

Step 2. Right Click > System setup > Channel Setup > Video detection, make sure E-Mail Notice is checked. See below

Step 3. Log into your Gmail account, and go to this link to turn on Access for lower secure apps (Allow less secure apps: ON). Link: https://myaccount.google.com/security?pli=1#connectedapps.

Step 4. Go to System setup > Network setup > E-Mail, enter the following info: SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 587

Username/Password: Your Gmail account/Password Encryption Type: SSL (or TLS).

Sender: Your Gmail.

Sendee 1/2: Receiver email address.

Step 5. Click Test.

Question: My NVR shows Offline all the time, how to get it to show Online?

Answer: 1. Login to your router setup portal (i.e 192.168.x.x) and find the DHCP option, make sure it’s enabled.

2.Right click your mouse, go to System setup – Network Setup – check the box for DHCP,

3.Right click – Fast network.

4.Assign an IP address to your NVR manually and disable DHCP.

Reolink NVR Setup Guide, Use this NVR with Reolink PoE cameras and you can get a professional, reliable and DIY security camera system. You can play back any recorded video, back up local data, and do more. For more features, refer to RLK8-810B4-A NVR security system.

Installation

You can connect either hard-wire the PoE cameras or connect WiFi cameras wirelessly (except for battery-powered cameras) to the NVR. Below is a common network topology of the connection.

Wired Connection

Applies to cameras that are hard-wired to the NVR.

Step 1. Connect your Reolink IP cameras to the Reolink PoE NVR.

Step 2. Log into your NVR, and go to the IP channel.

Step 3. Select Auto Add so that all the cameras in the same LAN can be automatically shown on the list.

Step 4. If you have never changed the password of the IP cameras (the default password of the IP camera is blank) and there are enough channels for all the cameras, you may press Apply to add all the IP cameras to the NVR.

Step 5. If you have changed the User Name and the Password of your cameras, please put the password of the camera to log in.

Old UI:

Please drag the menu bar to the password column and use the soft keyboard to input the required information.

New UI:

Please click Modify to input the required information.

Step 7. Click Apply to save and apply the configuration.

Reolink NVR Setup Guide

Wireless Connection

Applies to wifi cameras (except for battery-powered cameras) attempting to add to the NVR.

Step 1. Connect the WiFi camera to the same LAN as the PoE NVR.

Step 2. Connect the camera to the WiFi of the router.

Step 3. Add the camera to the PoE NVR: Toggle the “Auto add” on and hit “Modify” to input the login credentials.

Initial Setup

You can do the initial setup on a monitor or TV connected with an HDMI/VGA cable, or through the Reolink App or Reolink Client.

• On Monitor

Step 1. Connect the NVR to a Monitor or TV via the VGA or HDMI cable.
Step 2. Connect the camera’s RJ45 network socket to any PoE Camera port on the NVR using the Ethernet cables provided.
Step 3. Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the NVR to the LAN port of your router.
Step 4. Connect the mouse to the USB port.

Step 5. Connect the Power Adapter. Please use the supplied power adapter. For the PoE NVR device, it is 48 volts.
Step 6. And then you will see the below splash screen. System booting up might take a few seconds.
Step 7. Follow the Setup Wizard to set your NVR, click Next to continue and at the last step, click Finish to save all the settings.

• On Reolink App

Step 1. Power the camera and the NVR, then launch the Reolink App on your phone.
Step 2. During start-up, you will find the NVR shown on the Delive List automatically on Reolink App.

Step 3. Click the device you want to add to start initialization.

Step 4. For security considerations, you need to create a password for the first time.
Step 5. Then name your device and modify other settings on the second step page.

• On Reolink Client

Step 1. Click the “+” icon, select UID, then fill in the blanks with the UID number of your NVR, See How to find the UID of your device.

Step 2. Create a device password, then click Next.
Step 3. Create a device name then click Finish.

How to Add Reolink Cameras to Reolink PoE NVR

Reolink PoE NVR allows you to record videos for Reolink IP cameras without using a computer. To do that, you need to add the camera to the NVR first. The cabling for PoE NVR is shown below.

Applies to: All Reolink IP cameras (excluding battery-powered cameras) and PoE NVRs with the hardware version H3MB02/H3MB16

You may then follow the steps below to add Reolink cameras to Reolink PoE NVR.

Step 1. Connect your Reolink IP cameras to the Reolink PoE NVR. There’re two different ways of powering your IP cameras:

• PoE cameras with PoE NVR

There are two ways of connection:

a. Connect the PoE cameras to the PoE NVR directly via an Ethernet cable. (suggested way)

b. Alternatively, you can power on this camera by a PoE switch/injector and connect to your router, then add this camera to the POE NVR system in the same local network.

• WiFi cameras with PoE NVR

All Reolink WiFi cameras (except for battery-powered cameras) can be used with Reolink PoE NVRs, too. You need to connect them in LAN, the connection diagram is as below:

Note: Make sure all the IP cameras you want to add to the NVR are connected to the same network (LAN) as the NVR. Otherwise, the cameras won’t be shown on the scanned list and cannot be automatically added to the NVR.

Step 2. Log in to your NVR, and go to the IP channel.

Step 3. Select Auto Add, and click Scan so that all the cameras in the same LAN can be automatically shown on the list.

Note: The number of cameras that can be added to the NVR may vary depending on the NVR channel numbers of the NVR.

Step 4. If you have never changed the password of the IP cameras (the default password of the IP camera is blank) and there are enough channels for all the cameras, you may click Apply to add all the IP cameras to the NVR.

However, if you have changed the login passwords of the IP cameras or there is no spare channel to display all the IP cameras, you may need to go through a few more steps.

Step 5. If you have an 8-channel NVR and more than 8 IP cameras, please choose the 8 of them you want to add to the NVR and manually change the other cameras’ Channel to None.

Note: You may assign the IP cameras to any channel you want, but you cannot have two cameras on the same channel, otherwise configurations would fail to be saved.

Step 6. If you have changed the User Name and the Password of your cameras, please drag the menu bar to the password column and use the soft keyboard to input the required information.

Step 7. Click Apply to save and apply the configuration.

Note:

RLN8-410 (with the hardware version H3MB02) and RLN16-410 (with the hardware version H3MB02 and H3MB16) don’t work with 8MP cameras including B800/D800. The 4k cameras can only work with RLN8-410-E (with the hardware version H3MB16 and H3MB18) and RLN16-410 (with the hardware version H3MB18). And only the RLN8-410(H3MB18, N3MB01) and RLN16-410 (H3MB18) support the Human/Vehicle detection function.

How to Initially Set up Reolink NVRs with Monitor Connected (New UI)

Want to do the initial setup for Reolink NVRs on a monitor? This article will do you a favor.

Applies to: RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N2MB02/N3MB01/N7MB01), RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N6MB01), RLN36.

You may follow this guide for proper cabling and initial setup of your Reolink NVRs with a monitor connected.

Now, please refer to the following steps to set up your NVR.

Step 1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the NVR to the LAN port of your router. And connect a mouse to the USB port.

Note: You can right-click to open the Menu on the live-view page.

Step 2. Connect the NVR to a Monitor or TV via the VGA or HDMI cable.

Notes:
1. If there is no display, please connect it to a VGA monitor and change its resolution to 1920*080.
2. If you need audio output on your TV monitor, the resolution MUST be set to 1920*1080 or 1280*720.

Step 3. Connect the camera’s RJ45 network socket to any PoE Camera port on the NVR using the Ethernet cables provided.

Step 4. Connect the NVR to a power outlet with the supplied power adapter, and then turn on the power switch.

Step 5. And then you will see the below splash screen. System booting up might take a few seconds.

Note: If the monitor screen remains black, check if you flip on the power switch on the back of the NVR.

Step 6. General configurations. Set up the language, screen resolution, date Format, and time format. Then click Next.

Step 7. DST settings. Set up the system time and time zone, and enable/disable the DST option. Then click Next.

Step 8. Create a password for your NVR, and enable/disable screen auto-lock. Then click Next.

Step 9. Set up a password security question. Then click Next.

Step 10. Name your device and manage your HDD. Then click Next.

Step 11. Configure the network for your NVR. Then click Next.

Step 12. Set up E-mails for your NVR up to your need. Then click Next.

Done! Here is a sum-up of the Wizard Setup.

1.Set up language, resolution, time zone, date format, time format, system time

2.Create your password, enable/disable screen Auto-lock.

3.Set up a password security question.

4.Set up the device name, and manage your HDD.

5.Network configuration (DHCP by default).

6.Email configuration (Gmail is suggested as the sender).

Troubleshooting for RLN8-410

Here are some troubleshooting tips for RLN8-410. You may check whether your camera’s issue is listed below. If not, you may go to the Troubleshooting section to find suggestions for more issues or you may contact Reolink support for help.

• NVR won’t power on

If the NVR stops working and the power LED is not on, you may follow the troubleshooting tips listed below to solve the problems.

Cause 1. Power adapter issue

Solution: Check the status LED on the power adaptor of the NVR. If the LED isn’t on, please plug the power adaptor into another socket as well as change another working power adaptor (48V) for a try. If the LED is on, please check the HDD issue below.

Cause 2. HDD issue

Solution: Please unplug the HDD and check if the NVR will power on when no HDD is plugged in. You may open the NVR housing and refer to How to Change the HDD for Reolink NVR to remove the HDD.

Cause 3. The voltage is not sufficient.

Solution: Unplug the cameras. If the NVR power LED goes on, please replug the camera back one by one.

• NVR is freezing on the Reolink logo page

When you connect the NVR via a monitor and start up the NVR, the NVR is freezing on the Reolink Logo Page. There are several possible causes for the issue. You may follow the troubleshooting tips listed below to solve the problem.

Cause 1. HDD issue

Solution: Please unplug the HDD and check if the NVR will power on when no HDD is plugged in. You may open the NVR housing and refer to How to Change the HDD for Reolink NVR to remove the HDD.

Cause 2. The voltage is not sufficient.

Solution: Unplug the cameras that are connected to the NVR and check if the NVR can boot up.

Cause 3. Firmware issue

Solution: Please refresh the firmware using a USB drive.

• No video output on the monitor/TV

If there’s no video output on the monitor from Reolink NVR, you may follow the troubleshooting tips listed below to solve the problem. There are several possible causes for the problem.
.

Cause 1. The video output resolution of the NVR is not supported by the monitor/TV.

Solution: Ensure that the lowest resolution of the TV/monitor is no less than 720p.

Cause 2. HDMI/VGA port on the NVR or the monitor/TV is defective.

Solution: Check whether the cable is defective by using it to connect other devices to the router and see if it works. Or please test with another HDMI/VGA cable or monitor/TV.

• NVR reboots automatically

If you found that the NVR is rebooting, below are some possible causes and solutions that you may refer to.

Cause 1. UPS issue

Solution: If you use the UPS to power the NVR on, please plug the NVR directly into a wall socket and have it run for one or two days then check if the NVR reboots.

Cause 2. HDD issue

Solution: Please unplug the HDD and have the NVR run for one or two days then check if the NVR reboots.

Cause 3: The cameras and the NVR are both grounded.

Solution: Please unplug all the cameras from the NVR and have the NVR run on its own for one or two days and check if it still reboots (Please disable auto-reboot before you run the test). If the NVR doesn’t reboot, the issue may be caused by both the NVR and the cameras being grounded. Please check whether the cameras and the NVR are grounded. If yes, please unground either the NVR or the cameras to fix the issue.

• Failed to add PoE cameras to the NVR

If you noticed that after plugging the new cameras into the NVR, the camera’s image does not show up on the monitor and it prompts “video loss”. The following troubleshooting may be helpful to you.

Cause 1. No available channels

Solution: Delete the offline cameras from the IP channel, or manually assign a channel for the camera.

Cause 2. The new camera is distributed with the same IP address as the other cameras.

Solution: Please reset the camera and restore the NVR.

Cause 3. The camera shows “invalid password” or “incorrect username and password”.

Solution: Put the password of the camera.

• Failed to connect NVR in LAN

If you fail to connect the NVR through the network, below are some possible causes and solutions for your reference.

Cause 1. NVR is powered off.

Solution: Check whether the power light is on. If it is off, please refer to POE NVR Failed to Power on.

Cause 2. The LAN port is defective.
Solution: Please check if the LAN port on the back lights up or not. If not, please try another ethernet cable and port on the router for a test.
Cause 3. The gateway is 0.
Solution: Please change a router or switch and further check the issue. Please also reboot the NVR and check if the issue remains.

Please upgrade the NVR’s firmware to the latest firmware.

• HDD capacity shows 0GB or not detected

When you fail to playback the videos of the NVR and find the capacity of the HDD is 0GB, or it shows “HDD not detected”, here are some possible causes for your reference.

Cause 1. The firmware version of the NVR is old.

Solution: Please find out the firmware version of the NVR and go to the Download Center to download and unzip the package to upgrade it.

Cause 2. The format of the HDD is wrong.

Solution: Please format/init the HDD to try again, please refer to Check/Init HDD via PoE NVR.

Cause 3. Defective HDD

Solution: Please unplug and replug the HDD to see if it works. If possible, please test with another working HDD.

Configuration – RLN8-410

RLN8-410 is an eight-channel network video recorder that is used for centrally controlling the devices that are connected to it. With diffenernt hardware versions, RLN8-410 can acheive different features. Generally, it can be used for setting up detection for the cameras, managing the channels, upgrading the devices that are connected, etc.

To better learn the working principles and settings of this NVR, here are some instructions for your reference.

Motion Detection

Generally, Reolink cameras are capable of motion detection. RLN8-410 is able to manage the configurations of motion detection for cameras that are connected to it.

To achieve the detection settings you want, you could try on the monitor, the Reolink App, or Reolink Client. Below are some instructions for your reference.

• On Monitor

Old UI:
1. Log into your NVR on a monitor and go to the NVR settings.
2. For configuring motion recording, go to “Menu>Recording>Schedule” page, then select the channel (camera) and check the Enable box. Select “Motion” and tap on the grids to choose the time that you want to enable motion detection recording, and then click Apply to save the settings.

3. For setting up motion detection, go to “Menu>Alarm”. Click on “Motion Detection>Set”, then you can configure the motion detection settings (including motion detection area and sensitivity), motion schedule, and action.

1.Please launch Reolink Client and connect the NVR, then go to “Settings>Detection>Alarm settings”. You could set up detection sensitivity, detection zone, and motion schedule under this menu.

2.You could choose the channel that you want to configure.

Smart Detection

Smart detection includes Smart Person, Vehicle, and Pet Detection. It is based on the traditional motion detection but with advanced algorithms and technology, which can tell people, vehicles, and pets from other objects. You can set up detection sensitivity, detection zone, object size, etc. for the cameras via the NVR.

Please notice that for 8-channel NVRs, only if the hardware version is N2MB02/N3MB01 can it achieve the smart detection settings.
To check the version of your NVR, you can refer to How to Find out System Information via Reolink App or contact Reolink Support Team for confirmation.

On Monitor

1. Please go to the Menu of your NVR, and go to “Surveillance>Record>Daily Schedule”.
2. Under the Record Schedule page, please choose the camera model/channel you want to set up the record schedule.
3. Under the Alarm schedule, please enable/choose the detection type and then enable the time & date for detection.

There are three detection types: ” Any Motion”,” Person” and ” Vehicle”. Please enable/choose either of them or combine two options or all of them together according to your own needs.

Buzzer

Buzzer includes motion buzzer and exception buzzer. It is the sound that comes from the NVR when the cameras detect motions or the NVR detects abnormalities. Conditions like HDD full, HDD error, network disconnected and IP conflict will be marked as exceptions.

You could set up motion buzzer via the monitor, Reolink App, or Reolink Client. Please notice that the exception buzzer can only be set up via the monitor.
Below are some basic instructions for your reference.

• On Monitor

Old UI:
1. Set up Motion Buzzer:
Go to “NVR>Menu>Alarm>Motion>Action”, and tick Buzzer for selected cameras (channels). Click Apply to save the settings.

2. Set up Exception Buzzer:
Go to “NVR>Menu>Alarm>Exception”, select the exception type you want, and tick Buzzer then click Apply to save the settings. Choose the Type for the exception alarm based on your requirement.

New UI:
1. Set up Motion Buzzer:
Go to “Settings>Surveillance>Buzzer”, and enable Buzzer. Then click “Daily schedule” to choose the schedule and detection type.

2. Set up Exception Buzzer:
Go to “Settings>Surveillance>Buzzer (Exception)” and select the exception type you want.

• On Reolink App

1.Click button to go to Device Settings>Channel Setting>Buzzer. If you want to enable/disable the alarm buzzer, please turn it on/off the Buzzer.
Please notice that this setting will apply to all the cameras connected to the NVR.

2.If you want to customize different buzzer settings for the cameras, please configure the buzzer schedule to achieve this function.

• On Reolink Client

1.Go to Device Settings of your NVR and find Buzzer under Surveillance.

2.Select the channel you want and ensure the Buzzer is Enabled.

Channel Management

When a camera is successfully connected to the NVR, it will be distributed an IP address and a channel by the NVR for connection. Hence, with the NVR, you’re able to check the status of all the connected cameras at the same time. On the channel management page, you’re able to check the status of each channel/camera, delete the offline devices, arrange channel orders, etc.

Below are some basic instructions that you may refer to.

On Monitor (Old UI)

1.Launch your Monitor of NVR, go to Menu>IP channel page. Then you will find the camera status in the sidebar of the IP channel page.

2.If you would like to delete the offline cameras, change the Channel of the disconnected IP camera to None and then click on Apply.

3.If you would like to change the display order of the camera, expand the selection bar to assign a channel for each camera. After that, click Apply to save the settings.

On Monitor (New UI)

1.Launch your Monitor of NVR, then chooseMenu>Channel>Replace. You will find the camera status in the sidebar of the IP channel page.

2.If you would like to delete the offline camera, click on the offline camera and tap the Delete button to delete it from the NVR. Then the channel this camera was taken is free now.

3.If you would like to change the display order, go to Settings>Channel interface, click the channel you want, and then select camera for that channel.

Upgrade

As a centralized management system, RLN8-410 is able to upgrade both the NVR and the cameras that are connected to it. Below are some basic steps of upgrading for your reference.

• On Monitor (Old UI)

1.Unzip/extract the firmware file on your PC and transfer the PAK file to a USB, then insert the USB to the NVR USB port.
Please notice that there are two USB ports on the NVR. One is at the front and the other one is at the back of the NVR.

2.Log in to your Reolink PoE NVR on an NVR monitor, then go to Device Settings>System>Maintenance page.

3.Choose the correct firmware file and start to upgrade.
*If you only want to upgrade the firmware for the PoE NVR, you may click the Upgrade From USB and select the correct firmware file, then tap on the Upgrade button.
*If you need to upgrade the firmware for cameras that are connected to the PoE NVR, please choose Upgrade IPC From USB, then select the correct firmware for each channel and click on the Upgrade button to start upgrading.

• On Monitor (New UI)
