After Adding to exacqVision

exacqVision defaults to using the Hanwha default H.264 stream (profile 2) but can be changed to H.265. This changes exacqVision to utilize the default H.265 stream on the camera (profile3).

NOTE: It is not possible to set h.265 via exacqVision on a fisheye camera.
You need to log in to the camera interface and manually change the FISHEYE
profile to H.265.

To change the default stream to H.265:

1.Navigate to the exacqVision Camera Settings page and click the Recording tab.
In the Rate Control field, the default is Constant Quality which equates to Variable Bit Rate in Hanwha cameras.

The Quality slider default of 2 sets a low cap.
1 = minimum VBR cap for that stream
10 = maximum VBR cap for that stream
For 4MP+ resolution cameras it is beneficial to increase the quality to 3 or 4; otherwise, the video may be compressed too much thus decreasing quality.

2.If needed, select a stream to add from the Multistreaming dropdown menu and click Add Stream.

NOTE: With high-resolution cameras, it is best practice to create lower
resolution live viewing streams to save on decoding and bandwidth. These
streams can be added in exacqVision on the Camera Settings page.

3.Click the Motion tab to edit motion on the camera (although exacqVision does not have all the options available that are in the Hanwha cameras).

NOTE: It is possible to add motion, including windows, without adding\
multiple points to create unique shapes.

4.Click the Analytics tab to see several options for displaying and recording data.

5.If the camera is a fisheye, click the Digital PTZ/Fisheye tab to configure the proper dewarp code.
a. Select Immervision from the first dropdown menu.

b. Select the proper code from the second dropdown menu.

NOTE: Many of Hanwha’s fisheye cameras can use additional camera side dewarp
channels. These should be created first before the camera is added to
exacqVision, so they are identified and configurable inside of exacqVision.
These channels have no motion detection so they either need to record 24/7
or be used for live video only.

NOTE: The Video tab does not exactly match what is in the camera.

Searching AI Metadata

To search AI metadata:

1.From the exacqVision home page, click the Search () icon in the top left corner of the screen.

2.Expand the camera tree then select the camera and the analytic metadata associated with it.

3.Select the Search Range to search for then click Search.

4.Click the Paper () icon to view the raw metadata.

A pane to the right of the video will appear with the raw data of that time.

5.Check the Show Filters checkbox to filter data.

6.In the pane to the left of the video, check the checkboxes to filter.

7. Click Save then click the Search button again.

NOTE: Save filters can be selected from the dropdown menu at the top.

8.If certain overlays for the metadata need to be hidden, click the Green () icon and select which overlays should be hidden.

How to add a Wisenet camera to Genetec Security Center 5.9

To add a Wisenet camera to Genetec Security Center 5.9:

NOTE: You can find the IP address of the camera in the Wisenet Device
Manager results screen. Click Add and close to enroll the camera.

TIP: If you see a Bad logon error, move your mouse over the text and an Add button will appear.

Enter the username and password of the camera then click the Add button.

After a few moments the status should change to Added.

NOTE: Sometimes the status in Genetec sticks on Bad logon. To resolve this
issue, click Clear All at the bottom of Unit enrollment and add the camera
again. The camera has now been added to Genetec Security Center 5.9.

Configuring a Fisheye Camera

The following additional steps are required if the camera has a fisheye lens:

1.From the Video tab, select the newly added camera under Archiver then click Hardware and edit the Lens type.

2.Select your Camera position from the dropdown menu.

NOTE: Genetec may not automatically pick the correct lens type and
could fail to calibrate.

3.Select the correct Lens Type from the dropdown menu.

4.Click Ok and Apply at the bottom of the page to save changes.
The fisheye camera settings are now complete.

Viewing the Newly Added Camera

To view the newly added camera:

1.Open the Security Desk application from the Windows Start menu.

2.Log in and and select Monitoring.

3.Double-click the newly added camera to see live video.

4.Use the scroll wheel on the mouse or click the Viewing Mode icon to manipulate the image.

Live View – Technical Implementation Details

How TetherX implements live view to be compatible with all manufacturers

Introduction

The quality, latency and smoothness of live view streaming is dictated by many factors:

Available Streams from Cameras

Typically cameras will provide 2 video streams as well as the ability to request a single image. These limitations dictate what is and isn’t possible when it comes to both recording and streaming.

💡 Note: More expensive and speciality cameras will provide additional video streams and custom streams of crops/de-warps of the same image (e.g. 180 or 360 cameras).

The streams are usually accessed through RTSP and the images through HTTP. For example:

Transcoding vs Proxying

TetherX supports both transcoding and proxying/packaging. The differences between the two are as follows:

Transcoding is a process of taking the stream from a camera, decoding it and then re-encoding it into a different format. This is the ideal method to hit a specific requirement of Internet bandwidth and viewing size, but it is in most cases cost prohibitive as you need power hungry and expensive hardware to achieve.

​For context, a TetherBox Pico capable of recording 10 cameras will only be able to record 2 if transcoding (you can enable transcoding in TetherX by editing a camera and switching to the advanced tab).

Proxying & Packaging is what is used in most cases, where the original video stream is maintained but is packaged into different containers, for example .mp4 for video recording and .ts for local and high-def live streaming (see streaming technologies below).

This means that ultimately, you are at the mercy of the camera/recorder. If you need to open 16 cameras and each one is 1mbit, but your upload speed is only 10mbit, it will simply not work because the stream size cannot be adjusted without either:

Video vs Images

TetherX use a combination of images and video to achieve different goals. It is important to understand the differences and advantages/disadvantages of each, which in turn dictate when either is used in TetherX.

The main difference between image and video compression is every image is self contained, where every video frame is part of a stream. While you may skip an image, skipping a frame in a video stream leads to parts of the image breaking / disappearing:

Systems that ignore broken/skipped data (e.g. streaming over UDP) will show a broken image while many systems will simply show a loading spinner while they wait for the next key frame (which is controlled by the key-frame interval set on the camera/recorder, typically set to 1 second, or the same number as fps, but sometimes much longer).

Because each image is self contained, it is typically 5 to 25x larger in bitrate vs video at 25 images per second. It may initially seem obvious that video should be used when accessing remotely, however there are certain important underlying trade-offs that make it a much tougher question which needs to be evaluated on a case by case basis, according to the following:

Live View Streaming Technologies

TetherX uses all mainstream streaming technologies available and choses between them depending on the specific requirements and constraints:

How TetherX Does It

TetherX supports most streaming technologies and switches between them depending on context.

When local streaming (the TetherBox is able to detect if you are on the same network), if we are viewing less than 10 cameras simultaneously TetherX switches to LHLS (see above) to show the primary video stream from each camera at full resolution/frame-rate (assuming your viewing device is capable of displaying this many streams). If this is not working well for you, you are presented with a toggle to switch off High-def streaming to fall back to loading images.

When full screening a camera (double tap/click a camera), we assume you want the higher quality and we switch to the full primary stream. If your connection is not able to sustain this stream, we automatically fall back to loading images.

When viewing multiple sites / cameras over Internet in record mode, we switch to image viewing but we transcode/transize the images depending on the size of each live view box on your screen. This ensures that you are able to view many simultaneous cameras, the latency is lower than video, it automatically adapts to the available bandwidth and it does not impact recording quality. This does however mean a lower fps.

When viewing multiple sites / cameras over Internet in monitor mode, we proxy the connection directly to the image provided by the camera. This leads to a further lowering of fps but ensures the TetherBox can monitor the health of and provide live view of 10x more cameras than in record mode.

How Hikvision iVMS Does it

Because of the constrains outlined above, in order to show smooth video in iVMS (and Dahua PSS) software, if the connection speeds both on site and viewing device cannot accommodate the streams, the software temporarily reconfigures the cameras to send a lower bitrate stream while keeping the resolution the same.

💡 Note: if you happen to kill the software at this point (or lose connection), this can cause the camera to permanently record in lower quality.

Because many cameras or recorders only support a single stream at above D1 resolution, this means that not only is the live view quality reduced, but also the video being recoded which can lead to losing critical video evidence.

In our testing, limiting the connection to 5mbit 200ms upload and streaming just 4 cameras in HD resulted in blocky and usable footage being recorded on the NVR. It also took over 10 seconds to get an initial image, however the motion was smooth (25fps) once loaded.

In comparison when using images (outside of the iVMS/PSS software), the images loaded almost immediately, the image quality was significantly higher, but the frame-rate was poor (3-4fps) – still sufficient for making decisions in a control room setting, but understandably disappointing in smoothness by comparison. (Note: higher fps can still be achieved by full screening a single camera on demand).

When viewing a smaller number of cameras from the same manufacturer on a single PC or phone, it looks impressive to have smooth 25fps video on iVMS/PSS/others. However, when dealing with 100+ or even 32 cameras, from different manufacturers, different firmware versions, with multiple users, across multiple sites, with differing and fluctuating bandwidths, you begin to appreciate the trade-offs and advantages/disadvantages of each approach.

💡 Note: This approach of custom code to adjust Hikvision camera settings to achieve smoother live view is only suitable if you do not care about recording quality and you are optimising for a single manufacturer with compatible models/firmware.

◦ Draw the area according to the real scenario, there is a maximum of 8 areas supported. We usually use one detection area to cover where people could potentially appear in, recommended distance is 9 to 16 feet (3-5 meters) for capturing.

• Leave the Display Trace Info at “Mode 1”

• Show Detection Area, can turn On or Off

• For Confidence Coefficient, we suggest keeping the default value (Mid). It’s for the face matching level with the built-in algorithm.

• Area ID is for the selected areas if you choose more then one main area, up to 8 totals. We suggest keeping this at one and focusing on the main point of entrance.

• For Face Pixel Minimum and Maximum, we suggest keeping the default value (70/1000). Only faces in this range will be detected.

• There are two different Snapshot Modes: 

◦ Timing: ‘upload interval’ is associated with ‘timing’, camera will upload one picture every 5 seconds (Suggested).

◦ Optical: ‘snapshot count’ is associated with ‘optical’, camera will upload the best face picture in 5 seconds.

• For Upload Image Interval we suggest leaving at 5 seconds (1-10 second range).

• For Yaw Degree, Tilt Degree, Pitch Degree and OSD Overlay Snapshot, we suggest keeping as default.

• FTP Upload Image Matting and FTP Upload Whole Image are if you are using the camera as a standalone device, no CMS or NVR, and wish to save the facial snaps to an FTP.

• [IMPORTANT] Thermal Mapping (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Thermal Mapping)

◦ This step is mainly for matching the thermal image with the visible image, which can ensure the measurement accuracy.  The Black Body device (Infrared Calibrator) MUST be in the Field of View of the thermal image.  The thermal image is a FIXED LENS and is a smaller field of view then the standard image.

• There are eight groups of ID, and each group ID contains three points. If using One area, then you do not have to set groups 2-8.

• Pick out three points that you can clearly see in the thermal image, mark them with point1, point2 and point3.

• Find the three locations of the three points in the visible image and mark them with the same point numbers associated with those in thermal image.

◦ Note: Suggested to choose three points far away from one another, so the triangle of can cover 70% of the image.

• Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

• Test if the rectangle can correctly surround the face, and perfect it by adjusting the three points.

• Thermal calibration (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Thermal Calibration)

• Install the blackbody properly where the camera can see it (within the thermal image). The blackbody needs to be powered on for at least 20 mins to reach to a stable temperature.

◦ The Infrared Calibrator will ALWAYS display in CELSIUS; the stable temperature is ~40C

• Enable.

• If you turn on ‘Display Area Info’, the blackbody (Infrared Calibrator) will also be shown with temperature on thermal image.

◦ Draw box around your calibrator

• Target Temperature: If using Celsius leave as 40C, if using Fahrenheit change to 104F (Default)

• For Distance, put the real installation distance between the camera and Black Body (Infrared Calibrator). No more then 9-16 feet (3-5 meters).  Distance is in Meters or Feet, depending what you selected under the Parameter Config menu.

• Keep the ‘Emission Rate’ as the default value.

• Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

Yes it is, safe.

What are the minimum specs required to handle SEC-BODYTEMPCAM1?

For a single camera: i7 processing, at least 8GB of RAM.

From where is the temperature being scanned?

From a point in the middle of the forehead, the temperature is scanned, above the nose and in-between the eyes. If the camera captures a profile image it is using the skin around the earhole for temperature.  It is important to note that what is being scanned is skin temperature and not core temperature.

Should people be screened prior to entry?

The camera needs to be set within a controlled environment and cannot be installed outside. The calibrator isn’t weatherproof (IP66) and airflow, whether inside or out, could throw off the camera’s calibration.

If you need to screen people before entering the building, you would need to set up an enclosed tent to scan individuals. The camera can operate in both extreme heat and cold as long as no airflow would skew the results. If an individual is outside for an extended period, in the intense heat or cold without the opportunity to reregulate their temperature, the results might be slightly off, its recommended to wait 20-30 seconds before reading.

Need to wait when coming from outside for accurate reading?

Most of the time, there will not be any accuracy issues when getting scanned. If you have been out in the extreme heat or cold for an extended time you may want someone to wait roughly 30 seconds for their body to adjust to the environment. The camera is taking the skin temperature, which the human body keeps in check very efficiently.

What is your advice for poorly controlled environments?

If you are going to invest in the product, you will also need to invest in creating a controlled environment. If the environment is not controlled, you will not have accuracy. 

What effects an individuals’ temperature?

An individuals’ temperature will not read higher based on wearing a darker colored cap or clothing. The temperature scanned is the skin. The camera is using the face detection analytic to detect a human face then apply the algorithm built into the camera to display a temperature that is read from the epidermis of the forehead, or if it is a profile picture captured, the skin around the earhole is used.

If you’re wearing a mask, glasses, hood, hat, or all combined, if those two focal points aren’t blocked, then the camera can give a temperature reading.

Depending on the type of hat, for example, a forwards facing baseball cap pulled down entirely over the forehead can cause an individual not to be scanned. Another factor that could affect the scan is how the camera is mounted. The cameras must not be mounted higher than 8-feet. If the camera is wall-mounted and facing on a downward angle where a hat or hardhat is blocking the forehead, a solution would be to mount the cameras on a tripod to get a more direct shot.

As for individuals who have been out in the extreme heat or cold for an extended time you may want to wait about 30 seconds for their body to adjust to the environment. The camera is taking the skin temperature, which the human body keeps in check very efficiently.

Two real-life examples of cold and hot temperatures:

In New York, the temperatures were averaging 45 degrees, and we had someone whose drive into work took about 20 minutes. While driving, they had the window rolled down and the air continually blowing into their face. They would walk from their car to the office and could feel their skin was cold. When walking into the office, they would get scanned, and their temperature would be between 96.9 and 97 Degrees. After waiting for about 60 seconds, they would rescan, and their temperature would average the mid 97 degrees.

In Arizona, where the temperature was over 100 degrees, we found that when someone was outside for a while, a cooling down about 20-30 seconds was necessary. Initially, their temperature registered at about 102, but after 20 seconds, it stabilized and showed their baseline temperature.

Something to keep in mind is that everyone is different. Two people who are excessively overheated may vary slightly in how fast their bodies regulated their temperature. One person might take about 10 seconds, while another person might take about 45 seconds. We are finding that the average is about 20-30 seconds for someone to regulate back to their baseline skin temperature.

Does the subject have to face the camera?

The subjects face must hit the 7% FOV (Field of View) mark of the camera to get an accurate reading. It is looking for two measurement points. The first point is in the middle of the forehead, roughly the area in-between the two eyes, near the nose, and if it captures a profile image, it is looking for the skin around the ear hole. The person has to be walking into the view of the camera and not away.

What is the ETA on the Fahrenheit firmware fix for US sites?

The firmware is currently available, giving the option for Fahrenheit or Celsius. The product leaves our warehouse with this latest firmware update, and the product comes defaulted to Fahrenheit & Distance comes defaulted to Feet with the option for metric units. 

What VMS’s are supported?

As of today 4/29/20, we know Axxon and EXACT are working on an integration. Other companies that have reached out but are not 100% confirmed yet. The SDK is available upon request but each is responsible for their integration. 

Without an NVR, will images be stored?

No. The camera will not store any images. 

Will the camera do face recognition without an NVR or computer?

The camera only does face detection. The CMS is what handles Facial Recognition if you aren’t running the CMS, face images will not be saved.

Will the camera track a person?

Tracking is based on facial detection. As soon as the 7% mark is met (7% is the required amount to get a temperature), it will read the face detection analytic and then apply the algorithm for the temperature display.  

Where are these cameras made?

The cameras are manufactured in China but are not affiliated with and are not OEM made products from Hikvision or Dahua. 

Can the camera just be connected to a LAN that has the NVR on it?

Yes, it can be stand alone.

What is the accuracy of the camera?

The accuracy of the camera is 0.54 Degrees Fahrenheit / 0.3 Degrees Celsius.   

Is this camera FDA approved for taking Body Temperature readings?

We are currently in the process of working on our 510k Certificate approval. 

Will the camera pick up the temp of a person who is walking away?

No. it is not designed to work this way.  Depending on the angle, it might be able to capture a profile and on occasion provide a temperature. 

Is there a max mounting height from the floor?

Yes, you may not exceed 8 feet from the floor when installing on a wall or ceiling mount.

How do you calibrate the calibrator?

Let the calibrator run for about 15-20 minutes. On the back panel of the calibrator, you will see a display. The display will be in Celsius regardless of the settings in the camera and CMS. Once the screen hits the 40-40.2 degrees, the unit has been calibrated. 

Can you set the camera and calibrator to shoot through a glass door?

 No, the camera and calibrator must be in sight of one another and cannot see through a glass window or door. There can be no glass between the devices and the subject. 

How far away does the calibrator need to be from the camera?

The camera and calibrator must be in view of each other and must not exceed 16 Feet. The recommended distance is 7-16ft. and the calibrator must be in the field of view of the THERMAL image

Does each camera require its own calibrator?

Yes, each camera requires its own calibrator. You cannot use two cameras with a single calibrator. The temperatures will not be accurate. 

Can you connect the CMS to a customer’s network?

Yes, the CMS can be connected to a customer’s pc and also run on a pc that is not on the network.

What does CMS stand for?

If you are using a computer, will it record video without an NVR?

No, the closest workaround is to add the camera to the CMS. The CMS saves snapshots based on facial recognition. Please keep in mind that if the CMS doesn’t see specific points of a face to realize its a face (such as if the person is partially covered), you may still get a temperature read, but the face snap may not save. The CMS is only saving snapshots, not video.

How to use a cloud feature in the NVR menu?

The cloud feature will be implemented in the future. Once it is fully functional, we will have additional information posted!

How many hours of video can be stored on the NVR?

That will depend on the size of the drive you put in the unit and the number of cameras you have installed. The standard 4-channel unit can house a single hard drive bay, and can use drives ranging from 1-10 Terabytes. 

Can the NVR do the job of counting and temperature notification?

No.

Will camera send notifications automatically without an NVR?

If the camera is networked, email notifications can be sent out, even without an NVR. This will include a snapshot with the temperature for individuals who are above the threshold set. The camera also has two alarm outputs that can be utilized.

To use the app, InVid LIVE CMS, the camera would need to be added to the CMS, and the CMS would have to be kept open and running on a PC. If a temperature over the threshold is registered, it will send a push notification to the app.

Is the NVR required for sending email alerts?

No, the camera can send out email alerts. The 4/8/16 Channel NVR does not have the ability to send out email alerts while the 32 channel unit does, for over temperatures.

What type of notifications are triggered by high temp?

You can have an email notification with a snapshot of the individual and temperature range and also the option of one or two sirens if the temperature is above the threshold. 

Are there any onboard relays that could be triggered to send an alert

Yes, the camera has 2-alarm outputs. Power is needed, 12/24 volt AC/DC. Settings within the camera can be configured to trigger an alert when a temperature is over the threshold. 

Can the system send email and text alarms?

The system can send emails, it includes the picture of the scene with the temperature reading. Currently, there are no text alarms, but it is something we are looking at trying to implement.

Audible alarm once it detects a high temp?

The camera has two notification functions. The first is an email notification. The second is an alarm output trigger. The CMS that links to the camera does have an audible alarm if your computer is set up for sound.

2. Once you have confirmed your audio is working on your speaker, and if you still can’t hear from your Live Feed, check your connections. If you are using an external microphone that plugs into the camera, please make sure you are supplying power to since the camera does not. See picture below:

3. If your connections and power are in order but you still cannot get audio from your live feed, log into your IP Camera or NVR and change the following settings.

4. If you are accessing your audio feed from a computer also make sure you have the speaker symbol enabled to enable audio from the Live Feed.

1. Make Sure your camera with a microphone is working via live stream, please follow the NoAudio guide for details.

After ensuring you are receiving an audio feed, log onto your NVR and make sure your encoding setup is correct (Setup>Image>Encode>) and make sure your are on the right channel where the camera has a working microphone. Now make sure audio is enabled for either or both the Main Stream and Sub Stream (whichever you are recording on)

3. Also make sure your camera is scheduled to record during specified operation.

5. Now playback a recording of a camera that had picked up audio, you can also simulate this by making noise by the microphone and playing that segment back. Also make sure that the Volume button is not on mute and is turned all the way up during playback.

This article will show you how to change the order of your Blink cameras in the Blink app. 

1.First, tap App Settings  on the bottom left of your Home screen.

2.Then tap Device and System Settings.

3.On the Device and System Settings screen, select the system you want to change under Systems.

On the System Settings screen tap All Devices.

From the Manage Devices screen, you can change the order that your Blink cameras appear in the app. To change the order, press and drag the three bars on the camera that you want to move. Place it in your desired location.

Once you change the order of your cameras, that order will display until you change it.

Return to the Home screen to see the new order of your cameras.

If you have additional mobile devices logged into the same Blink account, you will not see the new camera order on them. This is a per mobile device setting, which gives you the flexibility to view different camera orders on different mobile devices.

Hear what your Blink camera sees

The iOS VoiceOver Screen Reader feature allows you to hear descriptions of Live Views and Motion Notifications in the Blink app. Once you enable the VoiceOver and Audio Descriptions options in your iOS device, you can hear descriptions of Live Views, Motion Notifications, or motion clips by tapping on the image in the Blink app.

To ensure the VoiceOver Screen Reader works with the Blink app (version 6.15.0 or later), the iOS must be R15 or later.

What are Image Notifications?

Snapshot image from your Blink device

Image notifications send you a snapshot image of what’s happening in front of your Blink camera, so you can easily see activity without opening the Blink app. With a quick look at your notification, you can know immediately if you need to open up Live View to take a closer look, or wait and review your video later. Learn more about how to receive notifications of motion detection.

In order to view image notifications, your Early Notification camera setting must be disabled. Click to learn more about Early Notifications in the Blink app.

Note: Image notifications do not work with the Blink Video Doorbell. Since the Blink Video Doorbell always has Early Notification on by default, you will not be able to view image notifications on it.

If Local Storage is your only available method for saving clips, image notifications will not display since thumbnails are not generated in this case. Learn more about using Local Storage for saving clips.

When you have motion alerts enabled on your iOS device, you will see a motion detection notification on your home screen. 

Tapping a notification on your home screen, will take you to the clip list in the Blink app with that saved clip.

When you “long press” on a notification, you will see a larger snapshot of your detected motion.

Image notifications also display when you are within the Blink app.

How to use Live View

Use this article to understand how to access Live View from your Blink camera. Live View allows you to see your camera’s live video and hear sound directly from the Blink app and from certain Alexa enabled devices‍. 

Blink cameras use your Wi-Fi network to send Live View. The connection must have 2 MB per second or faster upload speed (from your camera to the Blink app). Live View can fail if the internet connection is too slow or external factors like signal strength and wireless interference.

How to access Live View

From the Blink app

To access Live View from the Blink app, tap the Live View play icon on the camera image you want to view.

From a motion notification

Available with certain cameras, Live Views can also be accessed by tapping the Motion Alert push notification sent to your mobile device. This setting must be enabled in the app in order for push notifications to be sent to your device. Learn more about Early Notifications.

If you do not see the Live View play icon for you Video Doorbell, your camera may be in Event Response mode. When this occurs, Live View is only accessible from the notification sent to your mobile device in response to a motion event. Learn more about Event Response.

Note: Even though a motion notification may appear simultaneously on multiple devices, Live View access is limited to one user at a time.

Live View additional options

To conserve bandwidth, your Live View may dim and a Continue? button appears at certain intervals. The button appears a few times until your viewing limit of five minutes is reached. Tap this button to continue watching the Live View.

Portrait orientation

When viewing the Blink app in portrait orientation (tall, not wide), the camera view fills the screen width. You can use the ‘pinch to zoom’ gesture to view image details; however, the actual image size does not change.

Tap the  icon in the top right of your Live View to switch to from portrait to landscape view. You can also turn your mobile device 90° sideways to automatically switch to landscape view.

Landscape orientation

Generally, the Blink app is viewed in landscape orientation (wide, not tall) and the images appear in full screen (as shown below). 

Tap the icon in the top right to switch back to portrait view. You can also turn your mobile device 90° vertically to automatically switch back to portrait view.

Speaker Icon
While in Live View, tap the speaker icon  to enable or disable the camera’s audio.

Two Way Audio
Cameras with a microphone and speaker display a microphone button  at the bottom. Two-Way Audio‍ is supported on the Video Doorbell, Outdoor and Indoor (Gen 3), Mini, and XT2 cameras.

Extended Live View

Extended Live View is only available in through the Blink Basic, Blink Plus and free trial subscription plans. 

This feature provides images and sound directly from a camera to the Blink app, up to 90 minutes at a time without user intervention. In addition, you can view regular Live View sessions up to five minutes without tapping on Continue.

Wired Floodlight Camera: Siren On/Off

The siren can be turned on and off remotely through the app. This plays a loud alert noise through your Wired Floodlight camera’s internal speaker.

How to leave Live View

When you’re ready to stop Live View, tap Close in the top left corner on iOS devices and < on Android devices.

Alexa enabled screen devices do not provide the Continue button and remain in Live View until the limit is reached. If the Live View ends before you are finished, you can re-enter Live View by pressing the icon again.

Talking and hearing through your camera

The Blink Outdoor 4, Wired Floodlight, Video Doorbell, Outdoor and Indoor (3rd Gen), Mini, and XT2 cameras have two-way audio. Accessing the Blink app through your mobile device, you can speak and hear through the camera’s speaker and microphone.

Note: Two-way audio is not available in the XT and Indoor (1st Gen).

Before using two-way audio, check your mobile device to ensure the Blink app has permission to use the microphone.

Two-way audio in the Blink app

Indoor and Outdoor (3rd Gen), Mini, and XT2

Note: Two-way audio is not available in the XT and Indoor (1st Gen).

1.Tap Live View for any of your eligible cameras.

2.At the bottom of Live View is the Hold To Talk button.

3.Press and hold this button while you speak. 

◦ A small animation appears above the button indicating your mobile device’s microphone is active and that your audio will be played through your camera’s speaker.

◦ Release the button when you are finished talking and the microphone will mute itself automatically. The audio can be heard through the camera’s speaker on the other end.

4.After 5 minutes, your Live View will stop and you must return to the Home screen to start another Live View session.

Note: With a Blink Subscription Plan or trial, you can use Extended Live View on the Mini camera. Extended Live View provides up to 90 continuous minutes of viewing.

Outdoor 4, Wired Floodlight Camera and Video Doorbell

1.Tap Live View for any of your eligible cameras.

2.While you’re in Live View, press the Tap to unmute button. The button will turn blue. 

◦ A small animation appears above the button indicating your mobile device’s microphone is active and that your audio will be played through your camera’s speaker.

3.When you’re finished talking, press Tap to mute.

4.After five minutes, your Live View will stop and you must return to the Home screen to start another Live View session. 

Note: With a Blink Subscription Plan or trial, you can use Extended Live View on the Wired Floodlight Camera. Extended Live View provides up to 90 continuous minutes of viewing.

Troubleshooting audio noise

Echo, feedback, or sudden repeated squeal noises

When the camera picks up sounds coming from the Blink app and transmits them back to the Blink app, “feedback” is created. Feedback is a repeating sound that increases in pitch and volume. It can occur when you have the Live View of a camera open in the Blink app and you are within hearing range of the camera.

• To avoid feedback, ensure that your mobile device accessing the Blink app is at least 10 feet away from your Blink camera. 

• To stop existing feedback or unwanted noise, tap the Mute  icon to silence the camera’s speaker. You can also stop the Live View session or switch out of the Blink app entirely.

Chirping, digital noise, or robotic sounds

Blink cameras convert audio into a digital stream so it can be heard for Live Views and recorded clips. During this conversion, extra sounds can sometimes be heard. These sounds may sound like a cluster of noises, scrambled distortion, chirps, or clicks when accessing a Live View or playing back a recorded clip.

The upload speed of your network plays an important part of your digital stream. When network speeds change quickly, your audio may be distorted. Blink devices require at least 2 Mb per second of available upload speed for each Blink device, even when multiple users are online.

Placement of your Blink devices

Device placement recommendations

Placing your camera near hard surfaces may produce unwanted sounds. Because a hard surface reflects sound, the camera microphone may pick up both the original sound and the reflected sound.

Placing the camera on an enclosed shelf or wall, or set back from a table’s edge near or between other objects may create a boxed-in environment that can affect the audio quality of the camera’s microphone and speaker.

For ideal placement, avoid placing your cameras near dense materials like brick, stone, concrete, or metals. Also, avoid placement near other electronic devices and confined spaces.

Setting your camera name and thumbnail

  Note: We’ve enhanced the design of the Blink app. If the steps listed in this article do not match your current app version, you can view the updated design.

When a camera is first installed, its serial number (DSN) is the default camera name, and the thumbnail image will be gray. If you want to change the name of your camera or add a thumbnail picture, follow the steps below.

Change the camera name

From the Home screen, tap the camera name to change it, enter the new name, then tap OK to save.

Generate a thumbnail

From the Home Screen, tap the thumbnail button . The camera will take a screenshot of what is currently in view and replace the gray with this screenshot. 

The thumbnail remains the same until you refresh it with this button. Learn more about using the Blink app.

This article describes the Device Settings in the Blink app.

Device Settings is found by tapping the icon  in the top right corner of each thumbnail image on the home screen.

The following settings are accessible by tapping on each menu option.

 General Settings

Last Updated
Tap Pull to Refresh to manually update your camera status.

Name
Camera name that will be displayed on your Home screen. You can edit this name at any time from here or at the Home screen.

Battery Level
This will indicate if your batteries are OK or need to be replaced.

Firmware
Displays your current firmware version.

Status LED
You can set when the LED light displays either as Off or Recording.

Change Wi-Fi  
Use this option if you need to connect your Mini or Wired Floodlight camera to a different router or reconnect your camera to your existing router to troubleshoot an issue.

Connection to Wi-Fi
Displays the Signal Strength from the last time the camera connected. After moving your camera it is a good idea to return here and ensure you have good signal strength.

Connection to Sync Module
Displays the most recent Signal Strength measurement. After moving any part of your system, it is a good idea to visit this settings page to ensure you have good signal strength. If not, move the camera closer to the Sync Module or the Wi-Fi router.

Temperature
The current temperature of that camera. Tap on the temperature to enable temperature alerts or to calibrate the thermometer.

Delete Device
This option removes the camera from your Blink system and it will no longer appear on the home screen.

 Motion Settings

Motion Detection
This setting must be on for the camera to detect motion. If this setting is off, the camera will not detect motion. Note: Once you enable motion detection, arm your camera to receive Motion Detection notifications and to save motion clips.

Motion Recording Types
For Outdoor 4 and Wired Floodlight cameras, select whether you want to see video for all motion, people only, or have them suppressed so no recordings are saved. Note: The Person Detection feature is only available when you have a Blink Subscription plan.

Motion Sensitivity
Controls motion sensor sensitivity. Low sensitivity detects larger objects in motion. High sensitivity detects smaller objects. Adjust sensitivity then test by creating motion notifications to achieve the right balance for your needs.

Motion Zones
Disables motion detection for selected regions of the camera view to prevent unwanted motion clips or notifications.

Retrigger Time
The length of time from the completion of one motion clip to the start of another. This can be set from 10-60 seconds.

Early Notification
This option sends the notification as soon as motion is detected and before the clip is complete. In the Blink App, tap the notification to be immediately taken to the Live View of that camera.

 Video and Photo Settings

Motion Clip Length
The length of motion clips to be recorded and this can be set between 5 and 60 seconds. Mini and Doorbell cameras record clips up to 30 seconds.

Video Quality
This allows you to change the video quality of your Blink camera. More information about the different modes can be found here.

End Clip Early If Motion Stops
If the camera stops detecting motion, the clip will end before the full clip length is reached.

Flip Video
This should be enabled when mounting a Mini camera upside down on a ceiling so that the image is rotated right side up.

Night Vision
If set to Off, the illuminator will not turn on. If set to On, the illuminator will always turn on. If set to Auto, the illuminator will only turn on in low light conditions.

IR Intensity
This value controls brightness of the IR illuminator. This value can be set to Low, Medium, or High. Adjust to control glare or show more detail.

Illuminator Intensity
Adjusts the brightness of the LED on the Indoor (1st Gen) camera.

Photo Capture
If Photo Capture is enabled, a photo is taken once per hour. If motion notifications or other events happen (or not), the images are assembled at the end of the day into a photo-animation in the Clip Roll. 

Note: Photo Capture only works with Indoor and Outdoor (3rd Gen) and Blink Video Doorbell cameras when you have an active Blink Subscription Plan. Learn more about Photo Capture.

 Audio Settings

Speaker Volume
A slider sets the speaker audio level on the camera, as well as the chime loudness of your Video Doorbell.

Ringer Volume
Controls how loud the Blink chime sound plays when you press your Video Doorbell button when it’s wired.

 Floodlight Settings

Wired Floodlight Settings:

Light Brightness 
This slider sets the lights’ brightness from a scale of 1-10. The default setting is 5.

Dusk to Dawn
Turn on this setting to automatically switch your floodlights on at dusk and off at dawn, based on the amount of light the camera senses.

Timeout after Manual Activation
Select the amount of time the lights will stay on after they are manually turned on. The default is 5 minutes and you can set the lights to stay on for 30 seconds or up to 15 minutes. You also have an initial option Until I turn off, which requires you to manually turn off the lights.

Motion Activation
When enabled, the lights will turn on if motion is detected. The lights will turn on regardless of whether your system is armed or not.

Motion Activation when armed: When enabled, the lights will turn on if motion is detected and the camera will record a motion clip.
Motion Activation when disarmed: When enabled, the lights will turn on if motion is detected, even if your system is disarmed. No clips will be saved.

Timeout after Motion Activation
Select the amount of time the lights will stay on after motion is detected. The default is 30 seconds and you can set the lights to stay on for 30 seconds or up to 15 minutes.

Floodlight Mount Settings:

Battery Level
Displays the battery charge percentage for the floodlight.

Light Brightness
This slider sets the LED brightness from a scale of 1-10. The default setting is 5.

Timeout after Motion Activation
This setting controls how long the LEDs remain lit after the detected motion stops. You can chose between 15 seconds or up to 5 minutes after activation. 15 seconds is the default.

Note: When battery powered floodlights are manually turned on they will stay lit up to one minute.

Daylight Mode
When enabled, the LEDs will activate when motion is detected during certain daylight hours, when the outside light is limited like at dusk and dawn. The LEDs will not activate when there is an abundance of outdoor light, often during midday hours.

Daylight Sensitivity
This setting only appears when “Daylight Mode” is enabled and controls the sensitivity of the lights during daylight hours. Lower setting values only activate the LEDs in darker conditions and higher values will activate the LEDs in brighter conditions.

Firmware
This displays your current firmware version which may be automatically updated at certain intervals.

Pan Tilt Settings

Firmware
View your current firmware version.

Calibrate Pan-Tilt Mount
Select this option to perform a manual calibration. Learn more about how to calibrate your Mini Pan-Tilt mount.

Doorbell and Chime Settings

Chime settings when Doorbell isn’t wired:

Use Blink Mini Camera as Chime
Opens the Mini camera selector. All Mini cameras on the system will be displayed. Learn more about using the Mini camera as a chime.

Mount with wiring

Additional settings when Doorbell is wired:

Chime Type
Select the chime type you use such as Mechanical, Digital or Mini.

Chime Power
Allows you to adjust the power of your chime.

Privacy Settings

Privacy Zones
Disables motion detection for selected regions of the camera view to prevent unwanted motion clips or notifications.

Video Recording
When this setting is off, the camera will only send motion notifications without recording clips; however, Live View is still available.

Audio Streaming
Turn this setting off to disable the audio features of your camera.

Can I Disable the Blue Recording LED on the Camera?

Blink cameras have an activity indicator in the form of a blue color LED light on the front of the camera.

For the Blink Indoor, Outdoor and Mini, the Status LED is controlled in camera settings.

Blink XT and XT2, have a physical hardware switch inside the camera to control whether the status light is on or off.

The Blink Video Doorbell and 1st generation Indoor cameras are not adjustable.

For the Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras, there is a switch in the Blink app camera settings screen, named Status LED. The Status LED can be set to the following:

Blink Mini blue recording status LED setting

For the Blink Mini camera there is a switch in the Blink app on the camera settings, General Settings screen named Status LED. The Status LED can be set to the following:

XT and XT2 blue recording status LED switch

The XT and XT2 cameras have a hardware switch inside the battery compartment  to control the blue recording light.  This feature is not available on the Blink indoor cameras.

This article will show you how to turn off the blue recording LED on Blink XT. This LED is enabled by default from the factory.

1. Remove the battery cover. To see how to do that, click here.
2. To the right of your camera’s serial number, you’ll see a switch that says “REC. LED” with two positions, “ON” and “OFF”.

3. Using tweezers or a similar tool, slide that switch to the off position (toward the top of the camera).

Blink Video Doorbell blue recording status LED

The Blink Video Doorbell has a blue LED that flashes when the doorbell button is pressed. There is no setting to change this.

Blink 1st generation Indoor camera blue recording status LED

The first generation of Blink indoor camera does not have a setting to control the blue LED.

How Do I Use Scheduled Arming?

Set a schedule for automatically arming and disarming your Blink system

This article describes how to set an automatic schedule to Arm and Disarm your Blink system.

Create a schedule

1.To get started, open up the Blink app and tap Settings in the bottom right of the home screen and select Device and System Settings.

2.Next, select the system you want to schedule.
A system is a compilation of one or more cameras. When multiple cameras are added to the same system, they are linked together so that when you arm your system, all of the cameras in that system will arm at the same time.

3.To ensure that your system arms and disarms at the correct times, make sure your time zone is set correctly.

4.Next, tap Scheduling.

5.On the Weekly Schedule screen, create your schedule. Tap  in the top right of the screen.

6.By default, Arm will be enabled and the toggle on the right will be set to AM.

7.Schedule Arming: First, set the time and day you want to set your schedule arming. Drag the clock hands to your desired time. Time is changed in 15 minute increments. Select the desired days located at the bottom of the screen. When you’re done, tap Save to set the scheduled arming and you are taken back to the Weekly Schedule screen.

8.Schedule Disarming: Next, set the time and day you want to set your schedule disarming. In the example below, the week schedule is highlighted in blue because the the disarm time has not been set. Tap the  again to set disarm schedule.

9.Disarm scheduling is done in the same manner, but you will want to switch the toggle on the left to Disarm. Drag the clock’s hand to your desired disarm time and select the days of week again. Once you have your disarm schedule set to your desired time, tap the Save button again.

10.Your schedule is now set.

Modify existing schedule

You can modify saved schedules by tapping on the arm and disarm toggles and setting new days or times.

Disable Switch

If you want to temporarily disable your schedule (Example: You’re going on vacation), you’ll now see a disabled toggle on Scheduling in the System Settings menu. Enabling this switch this will disable your schedule until you turn it off.

Delete schedule

1.To delete your schedule, go back into your schedule view. Tap the trash can icon  to delete the schedule.

2.You’ll be asked to confirm. Tap Yes.

Note: Scheduled arming and disarming of your system will override any manually set or IFTTT or Alexa triggered arm and disarm settings. 

In order to record motion events, you must have motion detection enabled for a specific device by tapping on the Running Man icon from the home screen or enabling motion detection in the device’s setting screen. Learn more about understanding motion detection.

Deleting a System

Use this article to understand how to delete a system.

System basics

Blink devices work together as part of a system. Each system can manage up to ten Blink devices.

When you delete a system, all of its devices are deleted, and an email is sent to the account owner. Use this to quickly remove items from your account, for situations such as selling a device or replacing an existing device.

Deleting a system will not delete any previously saved clips within your storage location.

To delete a system

1.From the Home screen, tap Settings  to view system settings.

2.Tap Device and System Settings.

3.Tap the name of the system you wish to delete.

4.From the System screen, tap Delete System, and then tap DELETE in the confirmation popup.

After confirming, you are returned to the Settings screen and the system has been removed.

Empty system

Empty systems contain no devices and is ready to either have devices added to it or be deleted.

If you delete all devices from a system, or have an incomplete setup after creating a system name, it is found in App Settings > Device and System Settings.

Home screen

The home screen has three icons at the bottom of the screen:

 Home – Tap this to bring you back to the home screen where your cameras are accessible.

 Clips – Tap this to view the Clip List where all of your Live Views and Motion Clips are saved. Learn more about how to view motion clips in the app.

 Settings – Tap this to see the Settings screen, which contains all of your Account, Subscription Plan and System settings. All of your account settings are found on the Account and Privacy screen.

Phone Number
This displays the phone number associated with your account for verification purposes and can be modified. Learn more about how to change your phone number.

Country
This option helps us personalize your experience when you select the country you live in, by ensuring you receive the right messages based on your location.

Link to Amazon Account
Use this option before you purchase a subscription plan, in order to link your Blink and Amazon accounts. Once your accounts are linked it will display as Amazon Account Linked. Learn more about linking your Blink and Amazon accounts.

Link to Alexa
Use this option to directly open your Alexa app in order to enable voice alerts and voice control for your devices. Learn more about Alexa.

Neighbors App
The Ring neighbors program and mobile app is available to customers. The app and more information can be accessed from https://ring.com/neighbors.

Manage Mobile Devices
To ensure only authorized people can access a Blink account, the account owner can view and control all additional devices that access their account within the Blink app.

Enable Crash Reporting
If the Blink app suddenly stops working, use this toggle to control the sending of crash reports.

Grant Blink Support Account Access
Enable this toggle to give the support team access to your account for up to 14 days. Learn more about granting access to your Blink account.

Sign Out
Use this option to sign out of your Blink account.

Delete Account
Tap this button to delete your account. If you delete your Blink account, you lose access to clips that are stored on our systems, as well as access to any Blink devices through the Blink app. Learn more about how to delete your account.

All of your systems in your account are listed here. When you tap on a system, you will be taken to the System Settings screen. 

Here you can rename your system, sort your cameras as they appear on the home screen, set scheduling, time zone, access your Sync Module settings and enable Save all Live Views. You also have an option to delete your system if necessary.

Select this option to set your temperature units to display as either Fahrenheit or Celsius, which appears in your camera settings page.

Number of Channels: please input the correct number of the channels.

Click “Finish” and go back to “Preview”, click the device name to view live video.

Add the IP camera to the NVR by matching code

1.  When you use Match Code
1.1 Add new add-on cameras to your system
1.2 Re-pair camera to NVR when they lose connection. You need to delete the
Network Unreachable channel at first, then re-pair the camera to an unoccupied
channel. (unoccupied channel always shows No Video Source under Status.)

Tips: The IP cameras in pre-packed kits have already been paired to the NVR. So the
cameras will automatically connect to the NVR once they are plugged in power.

2.  Add camera by matching code.
2.1  Power on the camera which has no video, and connect this camera to the NVR
via Network cable.

2.2  Right click mouse on the main interface, select “Video Manage“

2.3  Click “Refresh“, find the camera’s IP. Click “Match Code“, then click “Yes“, the
NVR will start to match code to the camera.

2.4  After matching code successfully, the “status” will show “Connect success“.

Then you will see the camera is added to the NVR and display video on the screen.

.

What is the WiFi distance of the wireless kits?

.

Between each camera to the NVR:

In open space we tested 350m (1150ft) working distance;

With normal obstacles like 1-2 walls, we tested 35m (115ft) working distance.

For distance we only have theoretical values.

No certain distance can be guaranteed due to different environments applied in.

It varies depending on obstacles and signal interference.

on the contrast, if there are many blocks and signal interference between, the distance could be closer.

What if your NVR system keeps beeping?

1. Please right click your NVR mouse, then click System Setup – General Setup – Error setup, make sure that “Enable” and “Buzzer” are unchecked.

2. Please right click your NVR mouse, then click System setup – Channel setup –  Video detection, make sure that “Buzzer” is unchecked for all channels.

3. If you have checked above 2, and none of the buzzer are checked.

    Follow below to stop the beeping:

    a. Right click your NVR mouse, then click System setup – System Admin –  Factory setting, uncheck WiFi Reset, then click Apply to reset NVR settings.

    b. If you cannot view the cameras on the NVR after resetting, please right click your NVR mouse, then click Exit system, choose shutdown. Follow on-screen message to unplug NVR from power and then re-plug it back to NVR. Wait for NVR to initialize.

Then the cameras shall come back.

How to upgrade the NVR system

1. Please download the update file to your computer and unzip it, then plug the USB flash drive,and move the unzipped update file to the root directory of the USB flash drive. 

Note: 

1)Please move the update file to the root directory of the USB flash drive, do not move the subdirectory.

2)Do not change the file name.

2. Connect USB-disk/mouse and USB hub with NVR shown as flowing.

3. Enter the NVR’s menu (System setup\System Admin\System upgrade),
Click “Start” to begin upgrading.

Note: Please keep power supply well during the upgrade.

4. Once the upgrade is done, NVR will restart system automatically.

How to view playback on NVR system

1. Right click the mouse , choose video playback

How to connect and set up the Wireless Network Camera System?

1. Connect the DC 12V/2A power adapter to the Power port of the NVR.

When Power indicator light is on, NVR starts to work.

2. Use VGA / HDMI cable to connect your NVR and Monitor / TV, then preview interface can be seen.

3. Plug the network cable and mouse to the ports of NVR rear panel.

4. Connect the DC 12V/1A power adapter to the IP camera (IPC).

Each camera has one 6ft length power adapter.

5. After finish connecting, the NVR will search the IPC automatically and start to initialize the connection.

When completed connection, the images will display.

6. Login this system:

Username :  admin

Password:  (there is no password, please keep it blank)

(Note: if you want to change the password, you can go to NVR’s System Setup – System Admin -User management – Set password to change it.)

7. Then you can follow up the below steps to set up on your phone:

If you want to view the cameras remotely, the NVR should be connected WAN network, Please ensure DHCP in your Router is open.

If you don’t know how to enable the Router’s DHCP, please input the IP Address of your  

Router to IE browser, then you will find the network information, you can enable the “DHCP”.

After that, please go to NVR’s System Setup – Network Setup to enable “DHCP”

Then the system will obtain the IP Address, DNS from your Router automatically.

Or you can go back main menu to select “Fast Network”, Then the system will connect the WAN network automatically.

8.   Access from smartphone

(1). Please download “Eseecloud” app from App store or Google play on your phone.

    (2). If install and open “Eseecloud” app at the first time, an account need to be registered initially.

(3) Add the device.

   Before start to backup, system will inform you to insert U disk within one minute.

   NOTE: The NVR only one USB port, so you have to unplug the mouse

and plug the U disk within one minute.

5. After you insert U disk, what you should do is just wait a moment.

6. Backup is completed when system inform you “Backup record succeed“.

   And you can unplug your USB disk at that time.

How to setup audio function?

1. System connection

(1) The monitor must have HDMI input port.

  (2) Connect the HDMI port on both sides with the included HDMI cable.

2. NVR setup

  (1) Choose the option “Private” on this interface during NVR’s restarting. It allows you select audio or not.

(2) Check whether the encode mode is “AV stream” or not.

(3) On the live window, click mouse to select any channel to pop-up the hidden volume icon like a speaker, click it repeatedly to hear or mute the sound from camera.

1.Register a new Gmail mail account, and log in.

2.Get into your mailbox>click the “” in top right of page>get into “My Account“.

4.  After that, you will receive an email from Google, which means “less secure sign in” has been turned on.

5. Get into NVR system. Right click mouse>select System setup>Network setup>Network Status.

    (2). Choose Motion Detection, disable it

(3). Choose PIR Input Armed Detection, Enable E-mail Notice

9. After finished setting, When alarm is triggered, you will receive email from NVR.

Reset NVR’s Password

1. The interface when you log in. 

 2. Click “OK”. If you input incorrect password,

     monitor will display “Username/Password Is Incorrect!”.

 3. Continuously and successively click left button and right button in blank space of prompt box for six times.After that, monitor will display “Restore default user”.

4. Click “Yes”, and you will access to the interface where you can reset NVR’s password.

Tips:   1. The username must be “admin”, or else the password won’t be retrieved.

           2. If you want to make new password, please leave it blank in column of “Old password”.

           3. Delete the old password after reset the new one.

           4. If you have set a new password for NVR, remember that NVR password cannot exceed 10 characters, or the NVR will not save it correctly.

Solve the problem of the white light always on(Applicable to 3.6.60 and above Version)

Precautions:

1. Please check your IPC version first, only 3.6.60 and above version can be solved the problem through upgrade.

2. The camera must be able to produce the image, if the camera can’t be viewed or resetted, it can’t be upgraded.

Check IPC Version:

Go to “System Admin” – “IPC Maintenance” to check the version of the problem camera. Please note: Don’t upggrade the version 3.6.16 and below version with these upgard file.

Upgrade Method

1. Upgrade the IPC via NVR system

（1）Please download the update file to your computer and unzip it, then copy the update file(IPCAKV3C_xxxxx.rom) to a USB flash drive. Please note: Don’t change the file name

（2）Plug the USB flash drive to the NVR’s USB interface

Enter the NVR’s menu (System Setup-> Channel Setup-> IPC Upgrade)

（4）Click the “Channel” and select the upgarde channel of the IPC.

（5）Click “Start” and “Yes”, the IPC will be upgrading. Please note: During the upgrade, please don’t power off the NVR and the camera.

2. Upgrade the IPC via TF card.

（1）Unzip the upgrade file, then copy the “help.rom” file to the TF card. Please don’t change the file name and move it to the root directory, do not move the subdirectory.

（2）Power off the camera, then insert the TF card to the TF card slot. Then power on the camera.

（3）Waiting for about 1 minutes, the camera will start up. Then press 3 times continuously of the reset button for the camera(In order to prevent operation errors, you can press several times, which will not affect the upgrade).

（4）About 2 seconds later, the camera will makes a sound for an upgrade. Then waiting for about 2-3 minutes, if the camera restart and works normally, it means that the upgrade is successful.

1. First of all,please confirm both of the camera and the NVR are powered on .

(2). Remove the camera and take it next to the NVR system,and prepare a network cable and start to match code for the camera and the NVR.

(3). How to Match code :

B. Right click mouse on the main interface, select “Video Manage“

C .Click “Refresh“, find the camera’s IP. Click “Match Code“, then click “Yes“, the NVR will start to match code to the camera.

How to get the NVR system ONLINE?

.

1. Please make sure you enabled DHCP of your Router.

2. If you don’t know how to enable the Router’s DHCP,

    please input the IP Address of your Router to your computer browser,

    then you will find the network information, you can enable the “DHCP”.

3. After that, please plug a network cable to the WAN port on back of NVR.

4. If the system refuses to go ONLINE?

Basic troubleshooting:

  (1).  Check if your network cable can work well.

         If NVR is getting signal, there should be flash light. If not, please check the connection and cable.

  (2).  If the port is right and NVR is still OFFLINE, then it should be DHCP issue.

         Enable DHCP on your NVR.

        Click right button of mouse, go to NVR’s System Setup – Network Setup – check the DHCP and enable it,

        apply and save it. Wait for 1 minute to see if the status on bottom right corner changes to ONLINE.

5. Or you can go back main menu to select “Fast Network“, 

        Then the system will connect the WAN network automatically.

        Within 1 minute, you shall see NVR status changes to ONLINE and the NVR is ready to be viewed

        from anywhere anytime.

6. If this can’t help you, probably your Router disabled DHCP or block new devices from connecting.

    What DHCP does is: when Router find new device connected, DHCP allocate new IP to the device

                              and connect it to the Internet.

   An easiest way to know if your router enables DHCP:

   When you connect a new device to your WiFi for Internet service (or a visitor/ friend wanted WiFi

   connection), does it require WiFi password only? If only password required, then your router has

   DHCP enabled; if that requires not only password but also some settings, then your Router is secured

   from connecting new devices. Please ask people who secured the WiFi (who set password) to enable

   the NVR to connect.

The Step 4 and Step 5 should enable 95% users to get NVR ONLINE.

Even if the status shows OFFLINE after all this, we suggest you to use APP and access the Cloud ID

to see if it works.

Note:   Always wait for 1 minute after any change.

.

Advanced troubleshooting

If the basic steps above does not solve the issue. Follow below steps to do further troubleshooting.

1. Make sure the cable you connect to NVR has Internet access. 

Please use a laptop or any PC has RJ45 port

· Disable the wireless connection of laptop.

· Unplug the network cable from NVR and plug it into the PC, see if the PC can access the Internet via the cable.

· If it does, then the cable is good; if it does not, change a cable.

· If cable is good yet no Internet connection, please ask help from your network administrator

· to give the cable Internet access.

2. Enable DHCP of your router, please refer to Step 2.

.

If you don’t want to use DHCP, or you want to set up a static IP Address for your NVR system,

you can follow the below steps to set up:

   Well, we can allocate IP manually for the NVR and connect it to Internet. 

  1. Know your router gateway. 

  This is the IP that goes to the menu of your router. 

  This will vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer, and will be listed in the documentation.

  Here are some common IP addresses for various routers:

   Linksys, 3Com, Asus, Dell, US Robotics: 192.168.1.1

   Qwest (AKA CenturyLink), DLink, Netgear, Trendnet, Senao: 192.168.0.1

   Belkin, Microsoft, and SMC: 192.168.2.1

   Apple: 10.0.1.1

If you have misplaced your documentation, and you do not see your router listed here,

search on Google for your router name and “default IP address” to find the correct information.

Another way to locate your router’s IP address: on a PC, open the command prompt (click on Start >

Run/Search for cmd) and enter ipconfig. Look for the Default Gateway line, and try that number.

On a Macintosh, open the Network control panel (System Preferences…, Network) and look for Router: 

This is your router’s IP address.

Login O-KAM Pro

You need to register and login to O-KAM Pro APP to connect the camera, click Register now or email icon to register.

It is recommended to allow all permissions of the APP, otherwise you may not be able to use and connect the O-KAM Pro camera properly.

Connect O-KAM Pro Camera To Wifi

This connection mode supports O-KAM Pro wifi camera and battery camera.

1. Connect the O-KAM Pro Camera to a power source, and if it is a battery camera, press and hold the power button to start the camera.

2. Click + , then scan the QR code on the O-KAM Pro camera, the APP will automatically enter the appropriate connection mode.

If you can’t find the QR code or can’t scan the QR code, please select Wireless camera.

3. Make sure your O-KAM Pro camera is ready to connect, the camera light is flashing or you hear the prompt “Please use the app for Wi-Fi configuration”.

Note: If the light is not blinking or there is no prompt tone, please reset the camera.

Then click ‘I heard the prompt tone or see the indicator light flashing’, go to the next step.

4. Enter your wifi password, then click Next.

Please choose 2.4G wifi, some O-KAM Pro cameras only support 2.4G wifi.

5. Make sure your wifi is 2.4g and the wifi password is correct, then click Confirm. Give the displayed QR code to the camera to scan.

Place the QR code about 15-30 Inch in front of the camera to scan, and complete the scan after hearing the “beep” sound.

After the connection is successful, it will automatically jump to the next step.

After successful connection, you can test the wifi signal strength, or later in the test, please put the O-KAM Pro camera in the location with strong wifi signal.

The app will prompt you to subscribe, it is recommended to cancel, if you need cloud storage, make sure the O-KAM Pro camera can work properly before subscribing.

AP Mode Connecting O-KAM Pro Camera

If the QR code connection fails or the QR code cannot be scanned, you can try to connect the O-KAM Pro camera using AP mode.

1. Go to your mobile phone’s wifi list to connect to the hotspot wifi of the O-KAM Pro camera, return to the O-KAM Pro APP after the connection is successful, and then the app will auto add the camera.

Below is the name of the O-KAM Pro camera’s hotspot wifi:

2. Go to Settings, select Device Settings, and then click Wi-Fi network.

3. Select your wifi, then enter your wifi password, click Confirm and wait for O-KAM Pro camera to connect to your wifi.

Recording Setup – Wired O-KAM Pro Cameras

O-KAM Pro camera supports cloud storage and memory card recording, cloud storage requires subscription, the following memory card recording settings.

You need to insert the memory card to record, the recording will be saved in the memory card, after inserting the memory card, the camera will sound a voice prompt.

The default is to start 24 hours recording, you can change the recording mode in TF Record Settings.

Alarm flashing light

After the alarm flashing light is turned on, the camera will automatically flash when motion detection is triggered.

Camera Siren

When Alarm sound switch is turned on, the camera will emit alarm sound when motion detection is triggered, you can choose alarm sound or record your own sound.

Enter Notification Settings, select Camera Siren and then turn on the Alarm sound switch.

Email notification

An email will be sent to you when a motion is detected.

Click Add an email , then enter the email address you want to receive alarm notification and finish the setting.

Auto Tracking

When Person tracking is activated, the camera will Auto Track people’s movements and monitor all activities. It will automatically switch to and focus on the person when they enter the camera’s field of vision.

This feature is only supported by O-KAM Pro cameras that support PTZ.

Human frame

People are automatically framed in the live video Help you filter out motions of other objects and quickly follow the person’s movement.

Night vision setup

O-KAM Pro camera defaults to black and white night vision mode, you can change the night vision mode in Device Settings, Night Vision.

Only cameras with dual light sources support this feature.

Why is my O-KAM Pro Camera offline?

O-KAM Pro camera is offline, it means the camera can’t connect to the network properly, please follow the steps below to fix the offline problem:

Is the router working properly?
Connect your mobile phone to the router Wi-Fi, switch off the mobile data, can you access the internet normally? If it is not normal, try to restart the router.

Whether the WiF strength is full or not
Put the mobile phone to the camera installation location, detect whether the Wi-Fi signal is full? If the signal is weak, it is recommended to adjust the distance from the router to the camera.

Whether the O-KAM Pro camera is normal
If a memory card is inserted into the O-KAM Pro camera, power off the camera and remove the memory card, then check if the camera works properly.

Replace the power supply with another one.

If none of the above solves the offline problem, try resetting the camera and reconnecting it.

How To Upgrade Firmware on a QCAM NVR.

Any QCAM NVR should always be operating on the latest firmware version available.

If you are experiencing intermittent connectivity to the internet, general bugginess or difficulty using any feature, you must make sure there is no available firmware update which would indicate you are not on the latest version.

There are 2 ways to check for your NVR firmware version:
1. On the NVR’s built-in interface, from the Main Menu, navigate to System(in the Info row)->Version.

2. On the web interface, log in, then click the “i” icon in the top right corner and you will land on the Version page.

The NVR cannot be expected to work as advertised unless it is up to date.

Please always make sure you have the latest version before trying any other troubleshooting steps or contacting support.

There are 2 methods to update the firmware on your NVR: directly on the NVR or through the web interface.

Method 1: DVR Interface

The safest way to upgrade the NVR is by doing it directly on the device.

First download the most recent firmware from http://www.amcrest.com/firmware-subscribe.

Now copy the firmware onto a flash drive.

Note: The flash drive must be formatted to FAT32 or exFAT. But do not worry, most flash drives are formatted to this by default.

Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the NVR and a window will appear.

Select the System Upgrade option. You may be required to login. Be sure to use an administrator account.

The System Upgrade window will now be shown. Click Start.

Select the firmware file that you downloaded and click Start. A progress bar will be shown at the bottom of the window. Once the upgrade has finished the NVR might restart on its own.

Note: Do not turn off the NVR during the upgrade process or it can damage the NVR and make it inoperable. 

Method 2: Web Interface

First download the most recent firmware from http://www.amcrest.com/firmware-subscribe

Next login to the NVR’s web interface. Click the setup gear icon in the top right. Then click System on the left panel, then Upgrade below it.

Click the Browse button and select the firmware file you downloaded.

Click the Upgrade button and the upgrade process will begin. A progress bar will appear showing you the progress of the upgrade. Once the upgrade has finished the NVR might Restart on its own.

Note: Do not turn off the NVR during the upgrade process or it can damage the NVR and make it inoperable.

How to Add an H-series Camera to a Uniview NVR Internal Switch

In this guide, we will show how to add an H-series IP camera to a Uniview NVR.

Step 1. Configuring The H-series Camera

The best way to do this is to connect the camera directly into your computer or router and power the camera separately using a 12vDC power supply, or use a PoE switch like we used in this guide.

Once the camera is connected,run the SADP Tool and modify the camera’s IP address to match the internal subnet of the Uniview NVR (172.16.0.x)

In this guide, we are making the H-series camera’s IP address “172.16.0.2” and setting the Gateway to “172.16.0.1”.

Please Note!

Do not set the camera’s IP the same as the NVR’s internal IP, which is “172.16.0.1”

Step 2. Plug the H-series Camera Into the Uniview NVR and Configure

In this guide, we will be connecting the H-series camera into channel 1 on the Uniview NVR.

We are accessing the Uniview NVR via it’s web interface on Internet Explorer.

From the Live View page, Click on Setup -> Camera -> Camera
Then click on the needed channel and Modify
Change Add Mode from “Plug-and-Play” to “IP Address”
Protocol from Uniview to ONVIF
Type in the needed IP Address.
Port is 80
Then the login info for the camera.
Click Save

After Refreshing, the channel status will turn Green

Now it’s live! Click on the Live View Tab to see the camera

Modify OSD Settings Via Web Interface

By Default, a camera’s name when added to a Uniview NVR is it’s model number.
Having the ability to change the camera name can keep your system organized and easier to navigate.

Step 1. Log Into the NVR Via Web Interface

Log into your NVR via Internet Explorer and click on the Setup Tab at the top. Then go into the Camera on the left and lastly OSD.

You will have to adjust and name each camera one at a time. Select the camera you want to work on from the drop-down list at the top.

Step 2. Modify OSD Settings For The Camera

In the Basic Tab, you can modify the camera name, Name & Time Visibility, date & time Format, and Font Size & Color.

In the Content Tab, you can add additional wordage on the camera’s Live View

Setting up Uniview DDNS with EZDDNS

List of needed materials:

1. Computer
2. Uniview Recorder

Below you can see the web interface for a Uniview NVR. You will need to navigate to the IP address of the unit. Then go to Setup>Network>DDNS.

If you are having trouble finding your Uniview recorder then you can download the EZ Tools software to find it on your network here

Once you are in the DDNS portion of the recorder. Just turn it on and fill in the required information as shown below. Select EZDDNS you will have to create your own unique domain name.

Then click save then under device address you will see where it says en.ezcloud.uniview.com/yourdomainname. You will then use this address to access your recorder from the internet through your favorite web browser.

If you are setting it up from the attached monitor you can navigate to it the same way as shown below and just fill in all the information the same way.

No Video Output

The main reason a monitor would not work on a recorder is the output resolution of the recorder is too high or too low for the monitor to display. Example: The recorder could be set to 1920 x 1080 (1080P) but the monitor may only support 1024 x 720 (720P).

In this case the recorder display resolution will need to be lowered. This can be done a couple different
ways.

Method 1.

Log into the recorder via the network using an Internet Explorer browser. Navigate to the setup and then to the display settings. Adjust  the resolution for the output that you are using (VGA or HDMI)

After Clicking Save, the Recorder will reboot and will output the new resolution!

Method 2.

Attach a mouse to the recorder in any of the USB ports. Press and hold down mouse 3 (Scroll
wheel) for 20 seconds then let go. The resolution of the recorder will reset to 1280 x 1024 and should
work on most monitors.

Method 3.

Double check the HDMI cables and VGA cables and make sure everything is connected on both
sides and that the monitor is on the correct source channel. Try a different monitor if this does not
work.

Password Reset

The Default Uniview admin Password is “123456”. However, this can be changed upon setup or even accidentally!

If the default password doesn’t work then you will have a few methods of troubleshooting this issue in
order to get back into your system. Your first step should be to contact your installer. Most installers
have a standard password that they assign to units they install and may be able to help resolve this for
you simply. If they do not have it then you can move on to other solutions.

Method 1. Via EZView App

1. Open the EZView application
2. Click the three lines in the top-left of the screen, this will bring out a pop-out menu. Select Local Config which should be the second option from the bottom.
    
3. In the configuration screen, select the Forget Device Password which is also the second option from the bottom.
   
4. This will open the camera of your phone if you have allowed the application to do so.
5. On the unit, go to the login screen. In the bottom-right corner is the Forgot password button. Click this.
   
6. Or From the Web Interface, select Forgot Password on the login Page
   
7. Now using your phone scan the QR code that has been generated on the screen. This will produce a temporary password for you to use on the unit. it will be emailed to the account you set upon initial setup.
   
8. The Web Interface will produce the same QR Code
   
9. Type in the temporary password that the is sent via email and type it into the field. After clicking okay, you will be prompted to change the password.
   
10. The Web Interface will prompt to change the password as well before signing in
    

Method 2. Via EZCloud Service

The EZCloud service is Uniview’s P2P service which allows users to remotely view their units no matter
where you are (assuming you have a connection to the internet!). There are a few ways to add your unit
to the cloud service which is covered in other tutorials available on our website. This tutorial will assume
you have already added the device to your cloud account.

1. Go to en.ezcloud.uniview.com
2. Log into your cloud account using your credentials.
3. Your devices should be listed on the screen under My Cloud Devices
   
4. Click the Retrieve password option on the same line as your recorder.
   
5. You will land on a screen which requires a verification code. To have the code sent to the e-mail associated with your account click the acquire button next to your e-mail.
   
6. Open your e-mail. Within a minute or two the verification code will arrive. Retrieve the verification code and type it into the EZCloud window where the verification code is requested. Note: The verification code is only valid for 30 minutes after clicking the acquire button.
7. After putting in the verification code, the website will generate a temporary password just for today’s date. Type this on your unit and log in.
