Installation instructions for PC :

1.Format the SD card (Format : FAT32).
You may watch this tutorial on YouTube.

2.Download the update file:

1.American devices: v1.5.0-4 US (260 Mb)

3.Open the downloaded .zip file by double-clicking on it.

4.Extract the files from the .zip file.

5.Copy the extracted files into the SD card.
It is essential to copy the files AND NOT the folder:
Good: “SD Card/ Files”
Not Good: “SD Card/301/Files”

6.Make sure the camera is turned OFF.

7.Insert the SD card into the camera.

8.Cover the camera or put it on a table (face down), to avoid any false trigger during the update.

9.Turn the camera on.

10.Wait until the LED status light completely turns OFF.

1.Format the SD card (Format : MS-DOT(FAT).

2.Download the update file:

How to Install your V300 Ultimate Camera

Before installation

Verify:

• All batteries are fully charged.

• The camera is synchronized in the VOSKER app.

• The camera gets a good signal strength on location.

• Photos and videos are displayed in the events tab.

What you’ll need for installation

Choose between:

• flat mounting plate;

• wood screw mounting option.

Recommended installation – Camera

1.Avoid direct sunlight hitting the lens. The camera should be facing North or South to avoid glare or overexposure as the sun rises or sets.

2.Avoid moving objects causing false detection (branches, long grass, etc).

3.Place the camera about 10ft to 100ft away from your target to have a good field of view.

4.From the VOSKER app, adjust the motion sensor sensitivity setting to “Medium” as a starting point.

5.Always test your camera before leaving the area. Make sure you receive a photo in your mobile app.

Recommended installation – Universal Solar Power Bank

1.Place the panel within the range of the supplied USB-C cable (approx. 3ft.)

2.Make sure it facing South, in an area that gets a good amount of sunlight during the day. This will help maximize the battery life of your camera.

3.Tilt the panel at about 45°.

Troubleshooting steps:

1.Check if the Universal Solar Power Bank is charged by holding TEST button for 5 seconds. All the red lights should turn on.

If the Universal Solar Power Bank is discharged, charge it by plugging the DC power adapter in the 5 V IN port.

2. Use the supplied USB-C cable from the camera to the USB-C port on the back of the Solar Power Bank.

3.Check if the output cable is in good condition (not chewed, cut, etc).

4.Clear all debris, dust and snow off the Universal Solar Power Bank.

5.Reassess if the location and orientation provide optimal sunlight to the solar panel. If possible, choose a south-facing position.

6.Before leaving the area, trigger a photo and check your app to ensure proper network connection.

CAUTION:

• Do not drop, disassemble or puncture the power pack.

• Do not place in fire, extremely high temperature, or water.

• If you notice something not right when in use or when charging, like melting, a bulge in the housing or the unit getting extremely hot, stop using it immediately.

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in fire, electric shock, damage, or other injuries. This power pack is not a toy. Keep away from children and operate outside.

HOW TO INSTALL YOUR V300 CAMERA

Before installing your camera, we recommend that you test the coverage of the location you will be placing your camera. Consider using a VOSKER security box to protect your V300 security camera against theft and breakage.

Here are some of the best practices for installing your VOSKER camera:

1.Place the camera about 3 feet above the ground or at the subject’s height.

2.Make sure your camera is perfectly upright, aiming parallel to the ground

3.Place the camera about 10ft to 100ft away from your target to have a good field of view.

4.Adjust the motion sensor sensitivity setting to “Medium” as a starting point.

5.The camera should be facing North or South to avoid glare or overexposure as the sun rises or sets.

Note: Make sure to place the camera in an area that gets a good amount of sunlight during the day (enough to cover 50% of the solar panel). This will help maximize the battery life of your camera.

HOW TO ACTIVATE MY V300 CAMERA?

Before activating your camera:

• Charge the battery unit, V-LIT-B3, for at least 24 hours before putting it into the camera. Use the provided USB cable for charging. Once plugged in, the LED on the battery unit will turn red. You will know the charge is complete when the LED turns green.

• Open the panel at the bottom of the camera and insert the provided MicroSD card into the slot.

Note: A 24-hour charge of the battery unit is recommended before the first-time installation.

Activating your camera with VOSKER mobile app:

1.Download the VOSKER mobile app. This will allow you to control your VOSKER camera remotely.

• Google Play Store (Android)

• Apple App Store (iOS).

2.Activate the first camera in your account.

1.Open the VOSKER app and log in to your account.

2.Press “ACTIVATE NEW CAMERA” from the Welcome screen. Follow the instructions.

3.Activate subsequent cameras in your account.

1.Press the “CAMERAS” tab, at the bottom of the screen.

2.Press the “+” button in the upper right corner.

3.Follow the instructions.

Activating your camera with the VOSKER web app:

1.Log in to your account.

2.Click the “+” button on the main screen.

3.Follow the instructions.

Turning your camera on:

1.When you turn on the camera, it will start searching for a signal and the status light will flash green.

2.Once the signal is stable, you should see steady signal bars, depending on coverage strength.

3.A 30-second countdown will start when the front delay LED starts flashing red.

4.Once the countdown is complete, the photo mode is activated.

The V300 powers on and secures a strong signal.

5.All the lights will turn off and the camera is now ready to take photos/videos.

6.In the “Cameras” tab, press the camera’s “…” menu to access the “Status” tab of your VOSKER application. This will allow you to check the “Last sync” to see if the camera has updated its status with the most recent information.

7.You can then change the settings according to your preference. The new settings will take effect at the next transfer time.

Note: There may be a 20-120 seconds delay for the camera to make the first communication or transfer the first photo/video to the app.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT V300 LIVE STREAMING

A strong cellular signal on both devices will ensure smooth live streaming.

The V300 series offers the amazing feature of live-streaming as a 40-minute add-on that can be shared between compatible devices over a 12-month period.

Want to test it out first? Upon activation, every V300 includes two minutes of live streaming during the free seven-day trial period.

How to start a live-streaming

1.Check the signal. Make sure you have a good signal on the V300 and on your smartphone. A strong signal on both devices will provide a smooth experience and image quality.
Check how to improve your connectivity.

2.Press the yellow button. You have two ways of starting a live-streaming session.

• Via the Home screen. Click on the round yellow button to get to the live-streaming screen. If you have many V300, you will have a button for each one.

• Via every photo/video. Click on a picture or a video taken by a V300, and press the yellow button “Start Live Streaming”.

3.Press “PLAY” in the dark video screen. It might take a few seconds to load on your phone. The stronger the signal, the less time it will take to start.

4.OPTIONAL – Boost the quality. Toggle on the Max Quality under the video to get a higher bit rate (960 kbps). At this pace, the time left is reduced by four. It means if you have 40 minutes left in High Quality, it will turn into 10 minutes in Max Quality.
Remember: if the live-streaming may be choppy at times, a recording in Full HD will appear in the app after the session, and will also be saved on your MicroSD card.

5.Monitor how much time is left. In the video, you can see how much time is left on your Live Streaming add-on and make smart decisions. If you are running out of minutes, you can buy another add-on, valid for the next 12 months, shareable among your live-streaming cameras.

6.Watch it again in Full HD. Get the full quality once the live-streaming is over, without any buffering. It will be available in the app for a full year. You can also find The Full HD video on the MicroSD card in the camera.

What is the difference between live-streaming and 10-second Full HD video?

The live-streaming allows you to see what is happening live around your camera. It can last as long as you have live-streaming minutes in your account. It is great when you receive a notification, and you want to check if there are still some movements.

Your camera stores a 10-second Full HD video on the servers at every detection. You can request the video to understand better what happened during the detection. Simply click on a photo and press the button “Request Full HD video”.

What is the impact on the battery life?

The more you use those features, the more it takes a toll on the battery life.

This is especially true if the V300 doesn’t get a steady and strong signal. Just like your cell phone, the camera will work harder to connect to the cellular tower and communicate information.

If you see the battery life dropping, consider adding the Universal Solar Powerbank to sustain your camera from 6 to 12 months.

How to buy additional live-streaming minutes?

You can easily purchase a live-streaming add-on which will add 40 minutes shareable among all VOSKER streaming devices for the next 12 months.

Mobile app:

1.Click on the “Cameras” tab at the bottom of the screen.

2.Click “See plan” under one of your V300 cameras.

3.From the “Plan” tab, click “ADD” live streaming.

4.Follow the purchasing steps.

Web app:

1.Once logged in to the web app, click on “MANAGE PLAN” under your V300 model.

2.Click on “Add” under the live streaming option.

3.Follow the purchasing steps.

Warning: you need a transmission plan (Base, Alerted or Elite) before buying the live-streaming add-on.

A: Forget NVR Password?

1. Please click the mouse from the home screen, and “Logo Out–>Log Out”

2. Right click the mouse again, click “ Main Menu”–> “Forget password –> Forget answer”, you will see the “QR Code”

3. Please open your mobile APP “XMeye Pro”

（1）Click the Scan icon on the top left corner

（2）Scan the “CAPTCHA” on the TV monitor, then you will get a code from the mobile phone APP or from your email, and enter the code into “CAPTCHA”, so you will be able to reset the password on the Monitor connected to DVR

B: Add Device on PC Client Software (VMS）?

1. Download PC Client “VMS” and installed

[ Need to drag the file to the desktop after installing firmware, or it would ocurred the issue of “unable to open archive file”]

2. Login with the default User Name and Password. Click “SIGN IN”.

Default User name is: admin

Default Password is: admin

3. Navigate to “Device Manager”–>”Manual Add”

4. Login Type: Cloud ID Device Name:

Name Your Device as you like

Cloud ID : Device Serial Number. We need to go to the TV Monitor connected to the NVR , and find out the information on TV Monitor UI, then right click the mouse to navigate to the path of “Main Menu–>Advanced–>Version” to find out the information “serial number”

[Note: most customers do not know how to find the serial number, so they can’t add the device to PC Client

User Name and password: Input the user name and password that you created for the NVR , and we also need to find this from the Monitor UI.

[right click the mouse from “Log out–Log out”, then right click the mouse and navigate to “Main Menu”, this interface [system login] would pop up]

5. Navigate to “Live View”, Click on the device name(serial number), then select “Open All By Sub Stream”

C: How to Sign up account on Mobile APP (XMEye Pro) ?

Please follow these instructions to sign up for an account via your mobile number.

1. Click on Sign Up

2. Sign Up by email or Select Mobile Number

3. Select the correct country code +1, input your mobile number and click on “Get code”

4. A code will be sent to the mobile phone number, input the verification code and continue.

D: Add Device on Mobile Phone APP (XMEye Pro)?

Steps:

–>1. Please connect the NVR/DVR box to your Router via Network Cable; (Some customers think it can support WIFI connection, while wired systems only support wired router connection, and have to be wired to router via ethernet cable)

–>2. Go to Monitor UI Interface, and Navigate to “Main Menu > Network > Net Service”, if the “Cloud Status” shows connected, means NVR/DVR is online (Please skip step3),

–>3. If the cloud status shows “Probing DNS”, Please Navigate to “Main Menu > Network > Check the icon of “Enable DHCP”–>Apply;

–>Reboot the DVR by unplugging the power adapter and re-plug it, then double-check the cloud status ( only cloud status shows )

–>4. Go to your TV Monitor, navigate to “Main Menu–>Advanced–>Version”–> You will see the serial number.

The QR code contains Serial number info. We need this information after we add the device to mobile phone APP

–>5. Open the mobile APP “XMeye Pro” and register an account by your email first

–>6. Click”+” to add device–>Choose “NVR”

Device Serial Number: Click the “Scan” icon to Scan QR Code On the NVR UI Interface (Main Menu–Advanced–Version), (QR code contains username and password)

No need to input the username and password manually.

And click “OK”, and go back to the Device page on App,and you will see the device shows status:online ,

E: How to enable Alarm Notifications on APP XMEye Pro?

1.Make the Alarm setting is already set on Monitor UI Interface

2. Please right-click mouse and navigate to “Main Menu–> Alarm–>Motion Detect/Human Detect/Face Detect–> Enable “Mobile Reported”–>click “OK”

(Default Setting is for Channel 1, Please select “All” channels.)

2.Open “XMeye Pro” mobile App, and navigate to “Event–>Device (the one you named)–>Enable “Allow Notifications”

F: Configure Offline Camera or Add a New Camera?

—>1. After connect the camera to NVR via network cable, if the camera power on properly, the camera’s indicator light should be blinking.(see picture attached)

When you cover the camera’s photocell or put the camera in dark place, the infrared LED should turn on red color.

—>2. If camera powered on properly please follow below instructions.

1.Right-click mouse navigate to “Quick Setup(or Channel Set) –>Cancel

2. In the second box, if any camera status is offline or not connected, please select it and click ”Delete” first

3. Click “Search”, can you see new IP address showed on the topper box?

4. Select the IP address in topper box and click Network–>Auto Assigned–>OK

5. If auto assigned successfully, please click “Add” to add the camera.

G: No Video Display on TV Monitor Or Blank Screen?

My UI Interface shows “No signal” or “Black Screen” ？

We need to divert this issue into two situations:

1.NVR Indicator light is on:

(1) Cause: The camera system’s video output resolution is 1080P. If your TV monitor resolution is below 1080P, this issue will occur.

Steps:

Please right-click and hold your mouse for over 10 seconds to see if the system can reboot or not. Or, please try to connect the system to another TV monitor with a higher resolution (above 1080P)

(2) Cause: The hard disk drive inside of the DVR box is broken, and use the screwdriver to open the DVR box to unplug the wires of the hard disk drive, and reboot the DVR to have a try. If the DVR box can be rebooted after unplugging the wires of the hard disk drive(HDD), which means the HDD is having an issue, and needs a replacement, plz contact email love@hiseeu.com for replacement HDD

After steps, if the thing still cann’t be resolved, which means the NVR box is broken, plz contact email love@hiseeu.com for replacement NVR box if their warranty is still 1 year

2.NVR Indicator light is off:

(1) Cause: The power adapter 52V 2.5 A connected to the NVR box is broken

Step: Use another power supply 52V 2.5 A to power on the NVR unit to have a try ( If you do not have a spare one, can contact us to buy a new one or we send you a new one if your warranty is still under 1 year )

(2) Cause: The hard disk drive inside of the NVR box is broken Step: Use the screwdriver to open the NVR box to unplug the wires of the hard disk drive, and reboot the DVR to have a try. If the NVR box can be rebooted after unplugging the wires of the hard disk drive(HDD), which means the HDD is broken, and needs a HDD replacement, plz contact email love@hiseeu.com for replacement HDD

H:Why DVR/NVR can’t record or playback video?

If HDD(Hard disk drive) is having issue or something wrong with record setting, the DVR can’t record/playback the video

1.Check if the hard drive status is normal or error

Navigate to NVR/DVR Monitor UI Interface: Navigate to “Main Menu–>Advanced–>HDD info”

If status shows “Error” or No hard drive info , which means the hard drive is broken. (need to replace hard dirve)

2.Check the record plan is set up for 24/7 continuous recording

Navigate to “Main Menu–>Record Conf”

Channel : select “All”

Period: “00:00-24:00”

Select “Regular”

3. Please make sure the HDD was set up to “Overwrite”. (if it was set to “stop”, the system would stop recording when the storage is full)

Navigate to “Main Menu–>General–>Storage Full”

Add Device on Guard Station PC Client Software

Please sign up for the mobile APP(Guard Viewer) account and add the device first.

Download and run “Guard Station” on the PC

1) Please Navigate to “Device Management”> “Cloud Device”> Click on “Login”

2) Login with your APP account and password.

3) After Login, the device you added to the APP will list here

Please click on “Control Panel”> “Live View”> Double-Click Camera to load the live view video

Add Cameras to NVR or PoE Switch (Router)

Add Cameras to NVR/ PoE Switch or Router

1. Add camera via NVR PoE Port

• If the camera is connected to NVR PoE port directly, the IP address

range should be modified to “172.16.0.X” (X is between 2 to 255)

Please right-click mouse and navigate to Camera

For brand new camera (password is 123456 by default), NVR will detect

and add camera automatically.

If the camera’s user name or password has been changed, you are required to input the info manually.

Move the mouse to the status icon , you will see the error message. “Offline [incorrect Username to Password]”

Please click on the edit icon to input password manually and click on “OK” to continue.

2.Add Camera to NVR via PoE Switch or Router

NVR will detect the camera under the same WLAN and list IPC here

• Click on plug icon to add the camera. If the camera has default user name: admin, password: 123456.

NVR will add it automatically.

• If the camera’s password has been changed, please click on the setting icon to modify the info.

• In this situation, the camera IP address range should be the same as NVR’s IP range

(You can check NVR IP by navigating to Network>Basic> TCP/IP). If not, please contact the technician to modify the camera’s IP first.

Camera Not working

Camera not working?

1.(Port issue) Insert the camera to another port of the NVR to have a try, and wait at least 5 minutes

2. (Camera issue) Make sure if the camera infrared light will turn on red or not in the night time

3. Also plz right click your mouse to “Menu-Camera”, and take a photo of this whole page and send it to us

（Check how many cameras are discovered）

Also go back to the home screen and Check connection status, to see if it shows” Network disconnected” or “incorrect user name and password”

Device Offline on APP or NVR?

If the device shows offline on mobile phone app “Guard Viewer” , we need to make sure the NVR is connected to network perfectly or not

Go next to your Monitor that connected to NVR, and check out the network status

first navigate to this path first : “Menu–Network–Basic–P2P” , also check the device status is online or not,

if it shows: network disconnected, plz enable the DHCP in this path ” Menu–Network–Basic-TCP/IP ” and click “Apply” . After that, go back to “P2P” and check if the device status is online or not

Also , please make sure the PPPOE needs to be disabled, plz navigate to “Network–Advanced–PPPoE”

Enable Alarm light on Each Camera?

(Alarm light would only work during the night time when the alarm was triggered)

1. Set up the Alarm light First Right-click your mouse to “Menu– VCA — Intrusion Detection/Crossing Line Detection– Triggered Actions” , and draw the rules for the alarm type

After you set up an alarm type (Like”Intrusion Detection”, or “Crossing Line Detection”), Click on “Alarm Linkage”, you will have the option to Enable “Alarm Light” (Spotlight is only Available During the Night)

2. Enable Alarm Light on “Triggered Action– Alarm Light” for each channel, and Click “OK”

Forget NVR Password？

If you forget your current password, please follow the instructions to reset it.

1. In the system login interface, please click on “Enter Password” > “Forgot Password”

2.If you filled in your email address as a reserved email when you set up the system, you can reset the device password via the APP(Guard Viewer) by navigate to “Me–General–Forget Device Password”

3.Scan the above QR code by app and the security code will be sent to your email address.

4. Enter the security code from email to reset the password

Additionally, If you the email doesn’t belong to you, plz contact us at love@hiseeu.com for more support

Add Device to APP(Guard Viewer)

Auto add is not suggested. Please tap on “Later” if you see this message box.

In this situation, it will Auto Search to discover the NVR device connected to the local network. But once your mobile phone disconnects with LAN WiFi, you will not be able to view it anymore.

Please Add devices in this way

1. Please Tap on “ Menu” icon> Tap on “Devices”> “Add”,

2. Tap on “Scan”> “OK” to scan the NVR QR code

3.Navigate to “Menu– Network> Basic> P2P”

• If the Device Status is “Network connected…” , means device is online and ready for remote view

• If the Device Status is “Offline” , please check the network connection first, if the problem remains, please feel free to contact us at Love@Hiseeu.com

After you add the device successful, the “Device status” will be “Online”, and your APP account username will display here. • You can check your APP user name by navigate to “Me”

• If the username doesn’t belong to you, please click on “Delete” and add it again.

4.Add NVR by scanning device QR code and click on “save”

5. Please Tap on “Menu ” icon, Tap on “Live View” “Add”

6. Select the device and tap on “Start Live View”

Human Tracking/Detect for Model PK-4YHD985-CT ?

2.To enable human detection, plz go to this path “Menu–Alarm-Motion” , and choose the camera you want, to enable it

No Video on TV Monitor or blank Screen?

The camera system video output resolution is 1080P, if your TV monitor resolution below that will occur this issue.

If possible, could you please try to connect the system to another TV monitor with a higher resolution(above 1080P).

Or, please hold your mouse wheel over 10seconds to see if the system can reboot or not.

How to share Device to others via APP Guard Viewer?

WiFi Camera 3rd Gen setup via Green Feathers app

This guide shows you how to set up your WiFi Bird Box Camera, Solar Powered WiFi Camera, or Garden Wildlife Camera on WiFi

Before you begin

Test the WiFi signal strength by taking your smartphone/tablet to the site where you plan to install your camera; if it has a weak signal at the installation site then the camera may struggle to maintain a connection (see section 9 Hints & Tips at the bottom of the guide for help with WiFi signal strength)
.

Insert a micro SD card if you have one; hold the camera with the lens facing up, then insert the micro SD card with the metal contacts facing up. Push it in fully until you feel it click into place. If you have trouble inserting the SD card to the point where it clicks into place, hold it down with your thumb then use a thin object like a pen to push it down fully
.

Before you mount the camera in the bird box, make sure it’s connected to your WiFi router and can be viewed on the app. It’s best to set the camera up when it’s plugged in a different room to your router, then once it’s connected you can unplug it and install it in the final location

Ensure the device being used to set up the camera is connected to the same WiFi network that you want the camera to be connected to (this is only required for the setup process)

Make sure you know the name and password of the WiFi network which the camera will be connected to

Make sure that you are connecting the camera to a 2.4GHz WiFi signal; if you don’t know what this is you can read more here

Plug in the power supply into the trailing cable of the camera; after the camera has powered on you will hear a three note chime, and the camera will start saying “Wait for WiFi config”

Remove the lens cap on the camera, if it has one, and remove the cap on the reset button

Let’s get started

To get started, open the app:

1. Registering an account

Tap ‘Sign Up’ to create an account, then select ‘Agree’ for the ‘User Agreement and Privacy Policy’. If you have already signed up then skip below to the section called ‘Adding the camera to the app’.

1.Enter your email address, tick ‘I Agree User Agreement and Privacy Policy’ then tap ‘Get Verification Code’. If you would like to use your Google or Facebook account to sign up you can do so by tapping the relevant icon at the bottom of the page.

2.Enter this code into the app.

3.Set a password for your account – make sure it is something memorable.

Once your account is all setup, just log in to the app!

2. Adding the camera to the app

The first time you go to the Home page, you can choose to allow the app to use your device location. This is not essential, but helps with some features. Next, click the green ‘+’ icon at the top right of the screen.

Now select the model of camera you are setting up, then select “QR mode”:

Follow the instructions on the app or below to reset the camera.

1.Place the camera in a separate room to your router, this can help with the setup for first time connection.

2.Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds and then release.

3.Wait for your camera to say “Wait for WiFi config” (this can take up to 20 seconds).

4.Place the cap on the reset button so it’s waterproof. Tick ‘Next step’ when done.

Now tick ‘Next step’ and select ‘Next’.

4. Entering the WiFi details

Now you need to enter the details of the WiFi network that you want the camera to connect to. The name of the WiFi network which your phone or tablet is connected to should be automatically filled in, so just enter the password. To change the WiFi network your device is connected to, tap the icon to the right of the WiFi name:

5. Scanning the QR code

When you select ‘Next’, the app will display a QR code to you. Point the camera 15-20cm away from the QR code, directly facing the screen, and the camera should register it and say ‘Connect router’. When it says this, tap the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button.

If the camera is not scanning the QR code, try slowly increasing or decreasing the distance between the camera and phone screen to bring the QR code into focus. It can sometimes be easier with the phone placed on a flat surface to help keep the camera pointed in the right direction while slowly moving it.

It is also possible to re-adjust the focus on the lens which can be done by gently twisting it. The nut around the bottom of the lens will need loosening first. It is best to adjust the lens a small amount at a time as it shouldn’t be far out of focus.

After you have tapped the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button, the app should automatically begin connecting to the camera.

After a minute or so, it should have found the camera and added it to the app, you can set a name for the camera now, or later on in the settings menu.

6. Troubleshooting

If the camera does not connect to your WiFi:

1.Try resetting it and start again.

2.You can also try the AP mode setup method instead.

3.If this still fails, try setting the camera up in a different room, within range of your WiFi router still. Most modern WiFi routers use a combination of different WiFi frequencies (2.4GHz and 5GHz), but these cameras can only connect to 2.4GHz. Moving to another room can reduce interference from the 5GHz signal. To see other solutions to this issue you can read more here.

If you have connected it to your internet router, but it shows the message ‘Establishing encrypted channel‘ and doesn’t load:

1.Try closing the app and re-opening it.

2.If that doesn’t work, please check what version of app you are using (go to the ‘Me’ section of the app, then select Settings > About). If the ‘Current Version’ is 1.0.0 then you will need to uninstall the app and re-install it, then log back in. You will not need to set the camera back up if you do this, it will remain connected to your Wi-Fi router.

Remember, this guide only applies to the 3rd Gen NCIP3WF which was released in December 2020, if you have an older model of the camera have a look at our guide for the NCIP9WF or for the NCIP2WF. If you are unsure which camera you have, have a look at this article.

7. Adding and renaming the camera

Now you can rename the camera by tapping the pencil icon to the right of the camera name. Once it is added, to view the camera go back to the ‘Home’ page using the icon at the bottom left then select your camera from the list.

Before you begin

• Ensure the device being used to set up the camera is connected to the same internet router that you want the camera to be connected to (this is only required for the setup process)

Now select Ethernet mode and follow through the prompts that show on the screen to connect your camera.

The app will start searching for your camera with a 2minute count down, once it has been found you will be presented with the screen below.

Once the circle has filled and the camera is connected to the network, you can set a name for the camera by tapping on it.

If the camera does not connect at this stage, try going through the wired setup steps again without resetting the camera.

5. Resetting the camera

1. Power on the device and wait for it to play three notes to indicate it has started up
2. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds; you will hear it say ‘Reset, camera reboot’.
3. When the camera starts saying ‘Wait for Wi-Fi config’ or has a flashing red indicator light, tick ‘Next step’. Once your camera has been reset you can re-connect it to Wi-Fi.

Use the 2.4GHz Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to enhance the signal of one or multiple cameras that are paired to a single or dual antenna receiver. You may also use two Omni-Directional Antennas to extend the range of all cameras paired to a dual antenna receiver.

Recommended Antenna Installation Methods

Your antenna needs will vary depending on the setup of your camera system, the number of cameras that require range extension, and the number of channels on your wireless receiver. Review the scenarios below to ensure you have the correct antenna and installation method to meet your needs.

Combining Accessory Antennas

If you have installed your accessory antenna according to the recommended installation methods and would like to enhance wireless signal strength even further, you may add an additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) directly to a camera. The additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna can be used with a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna or with an Omni-Directional Antenna attached to the receiver.

Scenario 1: Extend the range of one camera paired to a single antenna receiver

To extend the range of one camera connected to a single channel receiver, use the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9).

The Directional Wireless Panel Antenna can be connected in two configurations.

Configuration 1. Connect the antenna directly to the camera

Configuration 2. Connect the antenna directly to the wireless receiver

REQUIREMENT: The antenna connects using an SMA cable and replaces the existing antenna on either the camera or wireless receiver. Check www.lorextechnology.com/compatibility to determine if your product is compatible with the antennas.

Scenario 2: Extend the range of one camera paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of one camera connected to a multi-channel receiver, use the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9). Connect the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the camera.

Scenario 3: Extend the range of select cameras paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of select cameras on a multi-channel receiver, use the Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8).

Connect the Omni-Directional Antenna to one of the antenna ports on the wireless receiver.

REMINDER: Each antenna port on a dual antenna receiver is associated with specific camera channels. One antenna communicates with odd numbered channels (1, 3, and 5), while the other antenna communicates with even numbered channels (2, 4, and 6). See the table below for dual antenna channel configurations.

To extend the range of all cameras on a dual antenna receiver, connect an Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to each antenna port on the receiver.

IMPORTANT: Two Omni-Directional Antennas are required to accommodate this setup.

Combination 1: Combine two Directional Wireless Panel Antennas

If you are using a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) to enhance the signal of a single camera with a single channel receiver, you can use an additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna to further enhance the wireless signal.

Connect one Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the camera and one Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the wireless receiver. To maximize signal strength, it is recommended to aim the two antennas directly at each other with a clear line-of-sight.

Combination 2: Combine a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna with an Omni-Directional Antenna

If you are using an Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to enhance the signal of multiple cameras, you can further enhance the signal of a specific camera by connecting a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) directly to the camera.

A clear line-of-sight between the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna and the Omni-Directional Antenna is recommended to maximize signal strength.

Lorex SD Pro App: Changing / resetting the password

If the password for the Lorex SD Pro app to view the Wireless Home Monitor is lost or forgotten it will need to be reset.

To reset the Lorex SD Pro app password:

1.Ensure that your Wireless Home Monitor is connected to a network router using the included Ethernet cable.

2.On the Wireless Home Monitor tap the Menu icon ().

3.Use the joystick to select Settings > Network > Reset Password.

4.Select Yes to confirm.

5.Tap the Menu icon () repeatedly until all the menus are closed.

6.Launch the SD Pro app and enter the default password. Refer to your user manual for your default password. You will be prompted to create a new password.

Lorex SD Pro App: Setting up Wireless Home Monitor remote access

You can access and view wireless cameras from a Wireless Home Monitor system using an iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet using the Lorex SD Pro app. It is available at the App Store or Google Play Store.

Prerequisites:

• Ensure that you have completed initial set up of your Wireless Home Monitor system.

• Ensure you have at least one camera paired with your monitor. Click here for instructions on how to pair your camera.

• Install the Lorex SD Pro app on your smartphone or tablet.

• The following instructions are displayed using an Android operating system

To set up the mobile application:

1.Launch the Lorex SD Pro app on your smartphone or tablet.

2.Tap Click here to add device.

3.On the Add Device window, tap Scan to scan the QR code on the back of the monitor or enter the UID printed near the QR code on the back of the monitor.

4.Enter a name and password of your choice for the monitor.

REMINDER: If using the default password, you may be prompted to create a new password.

5.Tap Save.

The system will be displayed in the Device Manager as Online.

LW2700 Wireless Home Monitor: Included cables and accessories

LW2700 Series Wireless Home Monitors support wireless cameras using a wireless signal. They do not have an internal battery and require a connection to a power source. Most wireless home monitors include the following cable connections and accessories when purchased:

• A monitor power adapter used to connect the monitor to a power source.

• A camera power connector / adapter used to connect the wireless cameras to a power source.

Network: Wireless camera Internet requirements

Standard wireless cameras that connect to a DVR / NVR, do not need access to the Internet to function. Stand-alone IP cameras do not require an Internet connection for basic functions, but an Internet connection is required for full functionality.

Security Cameras: Understanding Field of View (FOV)

Field of View (FOV) is the maximum observable area that is seen at any given moment through an optical device such as a camera lens. The coverage of the area can be measured using the horizontal and vertical distances to find the diagonal of the area in degrees. Mathematically, the FOV is calculated using the horizontal dimension of the sensor (h) and the Focal Length (F).

The Camera Lens, Sensor and Focal Length

Focal length (F) is the distance between the center of a lens and its sensor. The size of the lens is the aperture size.

These factors affect field of view. A narrower focal length captures more of the scene and displays a larger field of view. A wider focal length magnifies a scene and decreases the field of view. The higher the focal length value the lower the FOV.

Types of Camera Lenses

Fixed: a fixed camera focal length provides an Angular FOV which is permanently set and cannot be adjusted by the user. Varifocal: the camera focal length can be manually adjusted by the user. Generally, this is done manually with screws or dials. At Lorex we have motorized varifocal cameras that allow you to digitally zoom using your phone or NVR without losing details. These lenses provide flexibility and customization for your camera image needs.

The importance of Field of View

A wide angle lens or smaller lenses produce a greater field of view and captures more objects in a scene enhancing your ability to cover larger and wider areas such as foyers, parking lots or warehouses.

A narrow angle lens or larger lenses produce a smaller field of view; capturing a limited area, but the camera quality image improves in detail. These are designed to monitor a specific object, such as cash registers, entrances/exits, hallways or objects of value.

How to Calculate the FOV

To calculate the FOV requires the sensor size and the focal length of the lens: h = Sensor Size F = Focal Length of the Lens

FOV is represented by this equation: FOV = 2tan-1(h) / 2F

Example: h = 4.7mm F = 6mm FOV = 2tan-1(h) / 2F = 2tan-1(4.7)(12) = 2tan-1(0.39) = 2(21.4°) = 42.8°

Where do I place my Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Camera?

• Place the camera close to your Wi-Fi router as possible.

• Reduce the number of obstructive materials between the camera and the router or access point.

• Other electronic devices such as microwaves, TVs, cordless phones, and baby monitors can cause signal interference. It is recommended to install the camera as far away from these devices as possible.

How should I position my Lorex 2K Wi-Fi camera?

When mounting the camera on a wall, make sure of the following:

• Distance: Optimal accuracy for objects within 5ft to 50ft (1.5-15m).

• Angle: Angle the camera around 30°-60° down from the level position.

• Height: Install the camera between 8-16ft (2.5-5m) off of the ground.

Accuracy of person detection will be influenced by multiple factors, such as the person’s distance from the camera, the height of the person, and the height and angle of the camera. Night vision will also impact the accuracy and distance of detection.

How do I enable motion detection and person detection?

1.Launch the Lorex App.

How do I enable Color Night Vision?

3.Tap icon to disable Auto Night Vision.

Your device supports Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) which is the industry standard security protocol for Wi-Fi networks. WPA2 offers security against unauthorized access and data interception and is supported by most Wi-Fi routers including those that support both WPA2 and WPA3. It employs Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), an encryption mechanism, which secures communication between your camera and Wi-Fi network to keep transmitted data confidential. What is included in the box?

How to connect with Lorex App

1.Attach the provided power adapter to the camera. The device is ready for setup as soon as the status indicator is flashing green and chimes.
Note: Ensure your camera is plugged in and powered ON throughout the setup.
Optional: Attach the weatherproof extension cable to the camera.

2.Download the Lorex App by scanning the following QR Code. You can also visit Google Play or Apple Store to download Lorex App.

3.Open the Lorex App app and create an account or login with your credentials.

4.Tap icon to add a new device, then follow the in-app instructions to complete the device setup.

How to mount 2K Wi-Fi Camera to the wall

1.Place the mounting template onto the desired location.
Note: Ensure an outlet is nearby, and keep in mind the cable lengths.

2.Using a 15/64″ (6mm) drill bit, drill 2 holes over the triangle symbols on the template.
Optional: Drill 15/64″ (6mm) holes for the anchors.

3.Align the arrows of the mounting plate and template.
Using a screwdriver and provided screws, secure the mounting plate to the surface.

4.Align the arrows between wall mounting bracket and plate. Push the bracket in to install, then slide down to lock in place. You will hear a ‘click’ when the bracket is installed.

5.Attach the camera to the mounting bracket using the threaded insert at the rear of the camera. Rotate the camera clockwise until attached, then tighten into place with an adjustable nut.

6.Adjust the camera into desired angle.

Note:

• If the camera is not holding in place or difficult to adjust, unplug the camera and slide the bracket up to detach from the mounting plate.

• Tighten or loosen the 3 screws at the back of the mounting bracket to adjust accordingly.

• Repeat steps 4-6 to re-install.

How to mount 2K Wi-Fi Camera to the ceiling

1.Place the mounting template onto the desired location.
Note: Ensure an outlet is nearby, and keep in mind the cable lengths.

2.Using a 15/64″ (6mm) drill bit, drill 4 holes over the X symbols on the template.
Optional: Drill 15/64″ (6mm) holes for the anchors.

3.Remove the 4 pre-inserted plugs from the ceiling/table mounting bracket.

4.Attach the camera to the ceiling/table mounting bracket using the threaded insert at the rear of the camera. Rotate the camera clockwise until attached, then use the wrench to tighten the adjustable nut in place.

5.Place the bracket over the drilled holes. Using a screwdriver and the provided screws, secure the bracket to the surface.

6.Rotate the adjustable ring counter-clockwise to loosen and adjust the camera to the desired position, then tighten to secure.

Optional:

• Feed the camera cable through the hole at the base of the bracket or the mounting surface.

• Open the camera’s settings in the app and enable Image Rotation to flip the camera image. To configure camera settings, see Device Settings.

Wi-Fi Security Cameras – How to Read a MicroSD card

To view the contents of a MicroSD card on a laptop or computer, follow these steps:

1.Push gently against the MicroSD card to remove it from your device. Refer to the product documentation to find the MicroSD slot. Search for your product documentation by clicking here.

2.Insert the MicroSD card into the built-in MicroSD reader in your laptop or computer.

If your computer only has an SD reader, a MicroSD to SD adapter is required.

If your laptop or computer does not have an SD card reader built-in, you can purchase an external card reader that connects to your device via USB.

3.Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

4.Locate the SD card under This PC (Windows) or Computer (Mac). It may also be listed as SDXC or similar.

5.Click on the MicroSD card to access its contents and view the files and folders stored on it.

c. Within the folder, click either the day folder (Video files) or the jpg folder (Snapshots):

d. Click to select a video time from 00 – 23 hours:

6.Click the MP4 video file to view the video.

Wireless Home Monitor: Audio not working

If the audio is not working on your Wireless Home Monitor:

• Ensure that the protective film is removed from the camera lens.

• Ensure that the monitor volume is not muted. A mute icon () will be visible on the screen if the volume has been muted.

• Turn the monitor volume up using the volume buttons on the side of the unit. Location will vary by model. For exact location of volume buttons for your model, refer to your user manual. Click here for downloads and documentation for your product.

• The camera must be in Full Screen mode for audio. Tap the Channel Select icon () to switch between channels in Full Screen mode. Audio is disabled in Quad mode.

If audio is not working after increasing the volume and viewing in Full Screen mode, restore the system to default settings.

To restore your monitor to default settings:

CAUTION: Restoring to default settings will erase any setting input on the monitor. Your monitor will need to be reconfigured.

1.On the monitor tap the Menu icon ().

2.Use the joystick to select Settings > Default Settings.

3.Select Yes.

Connecting Amazon Alexa-Enabled Devices with Ring Devices, Use the Amazon Alexa App to set up your Alexa-enabled devices, listen to music, create shopping lists, get news updates, and much more. The more you use Alexa, the more she adapts to your voice, vocabulary, and personal preferences.

You can connect your compatible Amazon Echo, Echo Show, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet to your Ring device and use Alexa voice commands to do the following (and more):

• Answer your door (and receive chime notifications on your Alexa-enabled device).

• Speak to your visitors.

• Get a Live View from your doorbell or camera feed (only for compatible devices with screen display).

• Arm and disarm your Ring modes.*

Connect your Ring device to your Alexa-enabled device

First, you’ll need to download the Alexa app on your mobile device or tablet. Get the Alexa app from the Apple App Store (iOS devices), or the Google Play Store (Android devices).

You may also need to update your mobile device’s operating system.

If you already have the Ring app you’ll need to ensure you have the latest version.

Next, follow these steps to add Ring as a Skill in the Alexa app:

1.Open the Alexa app and go to More.

2.Tap Skills & Games

3.Tap the Search icon, enter Ring, then select it from the results.

4.Type Ring into the search field

5.Tap Ring (first result)

6.Tap Enable to Use

◦ Sign in with your Ring account details to link your Ring and Amazon accounts.

8.Once the Skill is enabled, tap Discover Devices

Connecting Amazon Alexa-Enabled Devices with Ring Devices

Activate chime notifications on your Alexa-enabled device

Once you’ve connected your Ring doorbell to your Alexa-enabled device, you can set up chime notifications to get an alert on your Echo or Fire TV device when someone presses your doorbell.

Follow these steps to get Chime Notifications:

1.Open the Alexa app and tap the Devices icon at the bottom right corner

2.Tap All Devices at the top

3.Tap Video Doorbell

4.Tap Doorbell Press Announcements to enable the feature

5.Tap Enable to Use

Note: Make sure each Alexa device you enable for Chime Notifications has Communication and Announcements enabled and the Do Not Disturb feature turned off in the Alexa app.

Activate Ring Intercom notifications on your Alexa-enabled device

Once you’ve connected your Ring Intercom to your Alexa-enabled device, you can set up Ring Intercom notifications to get an alert on your Echo or Fire TV device when someone buzzes your Ring Intercom.

1.Open the Alexa app and tap the Devices icon in the footer.

2.Tap All Devices at the top.

3.Tap Ring Intercom.

4.Tap Settings on the top right corner.

5.Tap Announcement Devices.

◦ Now you can choose what Alexa devices should receive a call notification when a visitor buzzes your Ring Intercom.

Answer the door or Ring Intercom with Alexa

After you’ve connected your Ring doorbell or Ring Intercom to your Alexa-enabled device, you can answer the door and speak to your visitors through your Echo or Fire TV device.

To speak to your visitor, you can say:

• Alexa, talk to [Ring Doorbell Name].

• Alexa, answer [Ring Doorbell Name].

• Alexa, speak to [Ring Intercom Name].

• Alexa, talk to [Ring Intercom Name].

Configure unlock by voice for your Ring Intercom

Follow the steps to enable unlock by voice and create a voice code

1.Open the Alexa app and tap Devices

2.Tap All Devices

3.Tap Ring Intercom

◦ Create your voice code. The Alexa app will ask for your Amazon account password that you use for your Alexa-enabled device.

Unlock your building entrance using Alexa with Ring Intercom

To unlock the building door using Alexa, say Alexa, unlock [Ring Intercom Name]. Alexa will then ask you for your voice code to complete the action.

Get Live View from your Ring camera with Alexa

If you have an Echo Show, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet, you can use Alexa commands to view the live video stream from your Ring doorbell or security camera.

To get a live view from your Ring camera, you can say:

• Alexa, show [Ring Device Name].

• Alexa, show my [Front Door]

To stop the live video feed, you can say:

• Alexa, hide [Ring Device Name].

• Alexa, hide [Front Door].

• Alexa, stop.

• Alexa, go Home.

Note: “Front Door” is an example and may differ from the location labels that you assigned to your device(s) during setup. Other examples – backyard, side door, garage, etc.

Arm and disarm your modes

You can ask your Alexa-enabled device to change the mode to disarmed or armed* for your Ring devices, including cameras and Ring Alarm.

Control which Alexa devices can access Live View on your Ring devices

Once you’ve connected your Ring device(s) to Alexa, you can change which Alexa devices have access to Live View at any time in the Ring app.

1.Open the Ring app.

2.Tap the menu (≡), then tap Control Center.

3.Choose Amazon Account Linking.

◦ Check if your Amazon account is already linked under “Link Amazon Account”. If you see “No account linked,” tap Link and follow the steps in the app to link your account. Make sure the box is checked for Ring skill.

4.If your Ring and Amazon accounts are linked, you can scroll down to see a list of all your connected Alexa devices on the linked Amazon account.

5.Use the toggles to enable or disable Live View access for each device. Remember, you can adjust these settings from this screen at any time.

Note
If you enabled the Ring Skill on an Amazon/Alexa account that is not linked to your Ring account, the Alexa devices will not be listed here. If you wish to remove access to your Ring account for those Alexa devices, you can do so from the associated Amazon/Alexa account.

Ring and Alexa troubleshooting tips

• If your Ring device’s battery is low, it may take up to 30 seconds or longer to “wake up” after receiving a command. Ensure your device has a continuous charge with a rechargeable Battery Pack.

• If your Alexa-enabled device takes a long time connecting to your Ring device (or can’t connect at all), you may need to extend your wifi network with a Chime Pro to boost the device signals.

• Visit the Amazon Alexa Help Center for additional resources and support.

• You may need to update your mobile device’s operating system or download the latest version of the Ring app.

If you’re having trouble getting the latest version of the Ring app, here are a few things to try.

Make sure your mobile device is on wifi.
If you have poor cellular signal, your mobile device may be pausing your update until it’s on wifi. Try connecting to a wifi network.

Make sure your mobile device has enough storage.
For apps to update, most mobile devices require 3-5 GB (gigabytes) of space. Try backing up your photos and videos to the cloud, or uninstalling apps you don’t use.

Confirm your mobile device is compatible to update.
If you have iOS 13 (or lower) or Android 8 (or lower), your mobile device’s operating system may be unable to use the Ring app. Since the release of these operating system versions, we’ve made significant security updates to help protect your Ring account.

Restart your mobile device.
Sometimes phones and tablets just need to be restarted. After restart, attempt to update the Ring app again in your settings or app store.

Uninstall and reinstall the Ring app.
If you uninstall the Ring app on your mobile device then reinstall the Ring app from your app store, you will download the latest version. Don’t worry, you won’t lose access to your Ring videos, settings, and Event History.

Note
If your mobile device is operating on iOS 13 (or lower) or Android 8 (or lower), you may not be able to reinstall the Ring app.

Arming, Disarming, and Setting Modes on your Ring Alarm

Security modes

These three modes on your Ring Alarm will protect your home in different ways. You can switch between them depending on your needs.¹

Disarmed Mode

In this mode, no sensors in your home will be monitored and no alerts will be sent to the monitoring station. Your Alarm system will still be powered on and functioning.

Use this mode when you’re at home and want the freedom to easily go in and out of your house. Fire and CO sensors (if they are attached to the system) will still be monitored.²

Home Mode

In this mode, only your perimeter sensors (doors and windows) will be monitored. Use this when you’d like to move freely inside your home. You can control which sensors are monitored in Home Mode by setting them in your Ring app:

1.Tap the menu (☰) on the upper left.

2.Tap Settings.

3.Tap Modes.

4.Tap Home.

5.Tap Sensors.

6.Tap which sensors you would like monitored while in this mode.

Away Mode

In this mode, all your sensors are monitored and an alert is issued if any of them are triggered. Use Away Mode to secure your home when you’re leaving it and will be out. You can control which sensors will be monitored in Away Mode by setting them in your Ring app:

1.Tap the menu (☰) on the upper left.

2.Tap Settings.

3.Tap Modes.

To arm your system using the Ring app¹

1.Open your Ring app. You’ll see the same mode icons as on your Alarm Keypad.

2.Tap the Home or Away mode.

To arm your system using the Alarm Keypad

1.Enter your user code.

2.Press the Home Mode button or Away Mode button.

When you’ve changed your mode, your Alarm system begins a countdown. This is an Exit Delay, and it gives you time to leave your home before the system arms itself.

You can set an Exit Delay of 0 to 180 seconds:

1.Tap the menu (☰) on the upper left.

2.Tap Settings.

3.Tap Modes.

4.Tap Home or Away.

5.Tap Exit Delay.

6.Set the exit delay for the amount of time you wish.

Disarming your system

When you enter your home, your Alarm system begins a countdown. This is an Entry Delay, and it gives you time to disarm the system before it goes off.

You can set an Entry Delay of 0 to 180 seconds:

4.Tap Home or Away.

5.Tap Entry Delay.

6.Set the entry delay for the amount of time you wish.

Panic alarm

This feature lets you send a panic alarm to the monitoring station anytime. To turn it on, press and hold the ✓ and X buttons on the Keypad simultaneously for 3 seconds.

The Keypad will then send an instant alarm signal to the hub, the Keypad LED Ring will quickly blink red three times, and the speaker will play the panic alarm sound.

Using 3D Motion Detection

3D Motion Detection, only available with Video Doorbell Pro 2, Floodlight Cam Wired Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro, uses radar to detect distance of an object providing more precise motion detection over camera vision detection, reducing false alerts, and allows pinpoint customization of detection areas.

Camera Motion Zones and Bird’s Eye Zones provide additional customization to trigger video recording only when someone steps into your defined motion zones. The radar that powers 3D Motion Detection also has additional benefits such as:

Decreases unnecessary alerts while still providing timely notifications

Bird’s Eye View provides an aerial map view of motion events around your home, so you can clearly see the path that visitors take when visiting your property.

What is Bird’s Eye View?
Bird’s Eye View shows the path of visitors on an aerial map view for motion events recorded by your camera.

Powered by radar technology, Bird’s Eye View shows each person’s position as a series of dots on the map you defined during 3D Motion Detection setup. For example, Bird’s Eye View will show you the current location of a delivery person dropping off a package, as well as the path they took to get there (even if they’ve already left the camera’s field of view by the time you start the live stream).

Bird’s Eye View is available with Video Doorbell Pro 2, Floodlight Cam Wired Pro, Spotlight Cam Pro and Stick Up Cam Pro.

How do I get Bird’s Eye View set up?
After setting up 3D Motion Detection, Bird’s Eye View will be automatically enabled for that device on your account, and the accounts of any Shared Users who have access to that device. You may need to download the latest version of the Ring app and update the operating system on your mobile device to get this feature.

Where can I access the Bird’s Eye View in the Ring app?
Bird’s Eye View can be seen as a picture-in-picture image in Live View and Event Timeline.

What are the dots on the Bird’s Eye View and why are they different colors?
Yellow dots in Bird’s Eye View monitor the current path of your visitor. As each dot gets older, it will gradually grow redder and more transparent before disappearing fully after a few seconds. Yellow dots appear in both live streams as well as in motion recordings on the Event Timeline.

Gray dots only appear in live steams, and show where activity was detected before you answered the alert on your phone or tablet. The most recent dot is white, and the entire trail quickly fades away after you’ve entered the Live Stream. For instance, if you open a motion alert after 10 seconds, these gray dots will show where activity was detected for that time before you began live streaming.

Can I hide Bird’s Eye View when I’m watching a live stream or a recording?
Yes, just tap the X in the lower-left corner of the Bird’s Eye View picture-in-picture window.

Can I share videos that include my Bird’s Eye View?
Not at this time.

Can I disable Bird’s Eye View?
If you would prefer to not see the Bird’s Eye View picture-in-picture, you can easily disable it without impacting your 3D Motion Detection Settings.

On your main dashboard, tap the three dots in the upper right of the tile showing your Ring device.
Tap Settings.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap 3D Motion Detection.
Tap Bird’s Eye View.
Slide Show on Timeline to the disabled position. You can always re-enable later.
If you would like to remove Bird’s Eye View from all previously recorded videos, you can do so by resetting 3D Motion Detection.

What devices and systems does AlfredCamera support?

AlfredCamera works on Android devices, iOS devices, computers, and AlfredCam (AC101) (Alfred’s own hardware camera).

To make home security accessible to everyone, we try to make AlfredCamera available on as many smartphone/tablet devices and operating systems as possible. You can connect devices running across Android and iOS systems, use Alfred’s WebCamera / WebViewer, or AlfredCam.

As a rule of thumb, if you can find the AlfredCamera app on the Google Play Store or App Store on your device, it most likely means that the Alfred app can run on your device. However, we do not support any IP cameras or security systems on the market, but you may use AlfredCam, Alfred’s hardware camera.

What are the recommended OS requirements for my device?

1.Viewer devices

You can set almost any smartphone and tablet device as Viewer devices, as long as they run on systems Android 5.0+ and iOS 11+. The same Viewer device requirements apply if you also use AlfredCam (Alfred’s own hardware camera). We suggest that you use your daily phones as Viewer devices.

2.Camera devices

As long as you can find Alfred’s app on the Google Play Store or App Store, you can use your device as a camera.

What if I don’t have two devices that run above iOS 11 or Android 5.0?

If you do not have at least two smartphone or tablet devices that run above iOS 11 or Android 5.0, you can use one of the alternatives given below:

• Use Alfred’s WebCamera（only supported on Chrome) / WebViewer on Chrome or Safari as your Camera and Viewer device

What are some of the requirements to use AlfredCamera?

Alfred is all about seamlessly turning old and retired smartphones or tablets into home security cameras. AlfredCamera can run on different platforms and devices, such as Android and iOS, computers, and AlfredCam.

As we stated that AlfredCamera allows you to build a “Simple Security at Your Fingertips”, it only requests certain minimum storage and internet requirements to set up. In this article, you will learn more about:

Storage Requirements

Motion Detection

While Alfred keeps your Events and Moments in the Cloud, we still need some local storage to generate snapshots and perform other basic actions on your device.

• Android devices: Alfred requires 24-25 MB of storage from your Camera device
(If your device runs on Android 7.0 and up, Alfred will need around 40 MB of local storage to run all the APIs)

• iOS devices: Alfred requires 24-32 MB of storage from your Camera device

Continuous Recording

The Continuous Recording footage is saved on your Camera device instead of in the Cloud. Free users and Premium users have different storage requirements:

• Free users: 0.6 GB from your Camera device

• Premium users: 2.4 GB from your Camera device

Alfredcam (AC101)

AlfredCam is Alfred’s own hardware camera, which requires an SD card inserted if you want to enable Continuous Recording. On the other hand, there are no other storage requirements if you only use the AlfredCam for Motion Detection. Event (motions triggered) and Moment (manually recorded/saved) videos are stored on Alfred’s Clouds for 7 days or 14 days depending on your subscription status.

Internet Requirements

1. Not only your Camera and Viewer devices, but AlfredCam also needs internet connections to function

• Camera device: Your Camera device must always be connected to a stable internet to run Motion Detection, record videos, and upload videos onto the Cloud

• Viewer device: Your Viewer device requires an internet connection to receive notifications, watch Live streaming, or play a Motion Detection video

• AlfredCam (AC101): AlfredCam currently only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and does not support mobile networks or 5GHz Wi-Fi at the moment

Most of our users connect their Camera devices or AlfredCam to their WiFi at home and use their Viewer devices on mobile or office networks. However, the WiFi signal has a higher chance of being unevenly distributed or inconsistent, so we recommend checking Connection Report or WiFi Signal Strength (for AlfredCam) to see if your WiFi signal needs to be improved. You can also use the WiFi Analyzer app to help find an area with the strongest signal to place your Camera device or AlfredCam.

Additionally, you can try the following suggestions to improve your network stability (this does not apply to the AlfredCam):

• Delete unnecessary apps to save bandwidth (⚠️ Keep Google Play Service for Alfred to work)

• Move your router or install a WiFi extender if you have trouble getting signals in some corners

• Assign bandwidth priority for Alfred

2. How much data does Alfred use?

Data consumption may vary depending on lighting conditions, movement frequencies, and more. While it’s hard to be specific about Alfred’s data consumption, here are some guidelines that might help you:

• Live feed: between 20-70 KB /sec (depending on the lighting condition)

• Motion Detection snapshot: 20-50 KB

• A 5-second Motion Detection Event:

• Free users: 80-120 KB

• Premium users: 400-600 KB

• Premium Motion Detection: 150-250 KB/sec

• Continuous Recording:

• Free users: 50KB/sec

• Premium users: 120KB/sec

If you want to get a more accurate idea of how much data your Alfred needs, we recommend that you test Alfred out for a day or two.

3. Does Alfred work when I’m abroad?

As long as all devices are connected to the internet, Alfred works regardless of the distance between the devices. Make sure your Camera devices have a stable connection and that your Viewer devices are connected to a WiFi network or can access international roaming.

When you’re away from home, don’t forget to keep your Camera devices plugged in.

⚠️ Note: Since Alfred relies heavily on Google’s technology, if the country you’re in doesn’t support Google, Alfred will not be able to function properly.

What permissions does Alfred need? How do I turn them on?

To ensure it runs smoothly, there are a few permissions to grant Alfred. Below are the permissions Alfred needs and why:

1.Record audio: You can hear as well as speak to the Camera device from your Viewer device.

2.Record videos: Alfred is a home security app that records and delivers videos.

3.Download videos/video files: Alfred requests Media and Photo permission to save videos

4.Display over other apps: To ensure Alfred runs without interruption and your camera goes offline.

How do I set up AlfredCam?

Create or Log in to your account

If this is your first time using the AlfredCamera app, you will be asked to set up an account. You may sign up with your Google account, Apple ID, or email address to create a new Alfred account. You can see more information on how to set up your Alfred account here.

Connect AlfredCam with your Viewer device

1.Make sure your AlfredCam is plugged into a power source, you should see the Status LED on your AlfredCam is in solid RED 🔴.

2.On your Viewer device, tap “Add a Camera” and select “AlfredCam“

3.AFTER the Status LED turns slowly blinking GREEN 🟢, tap “I see the green light blinking“
⚠️ Note: If you do not see the green light blinking, please tap “Not seeing the green light blinking?” and reset your camera with the paper clip by pushing the reset button in for 5 seconds. When you hear a beep from your AlfredCam, please tap “I heard a beep“. Then follow the instructions to retry again.

4.Select your 2.4GHz WiFi network > tap “OK” > enter your network password > tap “Next“
⚠️ Note: The Alfred app will only ask for location access during the pair-up process by searching for the WiFi nearby to help pair up devices. If you have privacy concerns, you may choose “Allow once”, and the location access will be automatically de-authorized after the pair-up process is complete.

5.Scan the QR code
A. Hold your camera up to your phone screen with the QR code displaying, and keep 6-12 inches of distance in between.
B. AFTER you hear “QR code scanned“, tap “I heard QR code scanned“. Then wait for a few seconds to complete the setup.⚠️ Note: To avoid glare causing unsuccessful scanning, please remove the transparent sticker on the AlfredCam and adjust the screen brightness.

6.Once the Status LED turns solid Green 🟢, you’re all set! When prompted on the next screen, follow the instructions to turn on Motion Detection.

Choosing the right SD card for your AlfredCam is crucial to ensure reliable and efficient storage of video footage. With so many options on the market, it can be difficult to determine which ones are compatible with your device.

How to reboot or factory reset AlfredCam?

Reboot AlfredCam

Reboot Remotely

1.Tap the Camera’s settings wheel

2.Scroll down and tap “Reboot Camera”

3.Confirm by tapping “Reboot”

4.Your camera will be temporarily disabled/offline and then reboot itself once the update is complete. It may take a few minutes to complete the process.

⚠️ Note: While your AlfredCam is being rebooted, the app will automatically take you back to the camera list. Your AlfredCam will be offline for a few minutes (you may see error code 7007) before it comes back online by itself.

Reboot Manually

If you are not able to reboot remotely, you can manually unplug and plug it back in again to reboot your AlfredCam.

Please make sure to check your LED indicator light before unplugging your AlfredCam. When the LED indicator light is flashing green, it indicates that it is in the middle of updating its firmware. Unplugging during the firmware update or video recording may cause fatal damage to hardware or even fail to save videos.

Factory Reset AlfredCam

Resetting your AlfredCam device may be necessary to troubleshoot any issues that you encounter while using it. This could include situations such as changing your current Wi-Fi name or password, moving your AlfredCam to a different location with a different Wi-Fi network, or other situations that require a network reset.

1.Reset your camera with a paper clip or a pen pushing the reset button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep.

2.Wait for your AlfredCam to restart by itself

3.When hearing “Ready to Pair”, it indicates that your AlfredCam has been reset to the factory settings

4.Start pairing your AlfredCam again
(You may refer to the setup steps in How do I set up AlfredCam?)

⚠️Note:

• Factory reset will not delete your Motion Events that are saved in Alfred’s cloud. If your Motion Events are still within the storage period, you should be able to see your videos after re-pairing your AlfredCam to the same account.

• Factory reset will not delete the Continuous Recording playback saved in your SD card. If you would like to offer your AlfredCam to other people, it is recommended to take out your SD card or Delete All Footage beforehand.

Night Vision (AlfredCam)

Night Vision can be switched Automatic, On, or Off

Automatic On Off

AlfredCam’s Night Vision functions based on six 850nm infrared LED lights on each camera to show you a clear black and white image even in a dark environment. It allows you to see objects up to 16ft (5m) to 22ft (7m) away, depending on the size of the objects and the light source around them. When Night Vision is set to Automatic, it will detect the light source around the environment and automatically switch to black-and-white vision when there’s insufficient light.

Night Vision: Automatic (Recommended)

When Night Vision is set to automatic, it detects the light source around the camera and will either show the natural color or switch to a black-and-white vision when there is insufficient light. If your AlfredCam is in an environment that does not get consistent light, it is recommended to set Night Vision to Automatic. To turn on this mode, please follow the steps below:

⚠️Night Vision will be set to Automatic by default for new users.

2.Find and tap the Moon icon TWICE (shows a letter “A” in the top right corner when it’s set to Automatic)

2.Turn on the Auto Night Vision toggle

Night Vision: On

Turning Night Vision on means the video image will stay black and white at all times, whether it’s daytime or nighttime. If your AlfredCam is in a dark or low-light environment, it is recommended to turn on the Night Vision to ensure that you can always see clear images. To turn on this mode, please follow the steps below:

1.Enter your AlfredCam live session

2.Find and tap the Moon icon at the bottom menu (icon turns white when it’s on)

Night Vision: Off

When Night Vision is set to Off, the image will stay in natural color during daytime and nighttime. This means that when the light source in the camera’s view is insufficient, the image could be unclear or too dark for you to see. It is only recommended to set Night Vision to Off when there is a constant light source in the viewable area.

If you would like to turn Night Vision off, please follow the steps below:

1.Enter your AlfredCam live session

2.Find and tap the Moon icon at the bottom menu

What if I’m having trouble pairing my AlfredCam?

Navigating through the pairing process of AlfredCam can sometimes pose challenges. If you’re having trouble pairing the AlfredCam, you may refer to the LED status light as an indicator of your current situation.

The following paragraph will help you find more information and further pair up your AlfredCam:

If the Status LED is slowly blinking Green 🟢, but you’re unable to scan the QR code successfully, please check the suggestions below:

⚠️ AlfredCam only works with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, please make sure you choose a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi while pairing.

1.Make sure to peel off the plastic sticker on your lens before you start to pair the device

2.Make sure to use the cable and power adaptor that came with your original package

3.Avoid pairing the device under direct lighting or intense surrounding light source

4.Avoid reflection on your mobile screen by scanning the QR code from different angles and distance

5.Adjust the brightness of the screen of your Viewer device and scan the QR code within 3 minutes

If you hear the following voice command and you see the Status LED fast blinking RED 🔴 and GREEN 🟢, please reset your camera with a paper clip or a pen, pushing the reset button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep, then follow the troubleshooting tips to pair the AlfredCam again.

How do I set up Alfred’s WebCamera?

How to Change the Order of your Blink Cameras

This article will show you how to change the order of your Blink cameras in the Blink app.

1.First, tap App Settings on the bottom left of your Home screen.

2.Then tap Device and System Settings.

3.On the Device and System Settings screen, select the system you want to change under Systems.

On the System Settings screen tap All Devices.

From the Manage Devices screen, you can change the order that your Blink cameras appear in the app. To change the order, press and drag the three bars on the camera that you want to move. Place it in your desired location.

Once you change the order of your cameras, that order will display until you change it.

Return to the Home screen to see the new order of your cameras.

If you have additional mobile devices logged into the same Blink account, you will not see the new camera order on them. This is a per mobile device setting, which gives you the flexibility to view different camera orders on different mobile devices.

Hear what your Blink camera sees

The iOS VoiceOver Screen Reader feature allows you to hear descriptions of Live Views and Motion Notifications in the Blink app. Once you enable the VoiceOver and Audio Descriptions options in your iOS device, you can hear descriptions of Live Views, Motion Notifications, or motion clips by tapping on the image in the Blink app.

Note

To ensure the VoiceOver Screen Reader works with the Blink app (version 6.15.0 or later), the iOS must be R15 or later.

How to hear a VoiceOver Audio Description in the Blink app

• For a Live View description, tap the camera thumbnail to enter Live View. When Live View opens, the scene description is spoken from your iOS device.

• To hear a description of a Motion Clip, tap Clips on the Blink home screen. Select a clip and the scene description is spoken from your iOS device.

What are Image Notifications?

Snapshot image from your Blink device

Image notifications send you a snapshot image of what’s happening in front of your Blink camera, so you can easily see activity without opening the Blink app. With a quick look at your notification, you can know immediately if you need to open up Live View to take a closer look, or wait and review your video later. Learn more about how to receive notifications of motion detection.

In order to view image notifications, your Early Notification camera setting must be disabled. Click to learn more about Early Notifications in the Blink app.

Note: Image notifications do not work with the Blink Video Doorbell. Since the Blink Video Doorbell always has Early Notification on by default, you will not be able to view image notifications on it.

If Local Storage is your only available method for saving clips, image notifications will not display since thumbnails are not generated in this case. Learn more about using Local Storage for saving clips.

iOS devices

Android devices

When you have motion alerts enabled on your iOS device, you will see a motion detection notification on your home screen.

Tapping a notification on your home screen, will take you to the clip list in the Blink app with that saved clip.

When you “long press” on a notification, you will see a larger snapshot of your detected motion.

Image notifications also display when you are within the Blink app.

How to use Live View

Note: We’ve enhanced the design of the Blink app. If the steps listed in this article do not match your current app version, you can view the updated design.

Use this article to understand how to access Live View from your Blink camera. Live View allows you to see your camera’s live video and hear sound directly from the Blink app and from certain Alexa enabled devices‍.

Blink cameras use your Wi-Fi network to send Live View. The connection must have 2 MB per second or faster upload speed (from your camera to the Blink app). Live View can fail if the internet connection is too slow or external factors like signal strength and wireless interference.

How to access Live View

From the Blink app

To access Live View from the Blink app, tap the Live View play icon on the camera image you want to view.

From a motion notification

Available with certain cameras, Live Views can also be accessed by tapping the Motion Alert push notification sent to your mobile device. This setting must be enabled in the app in order for push notifications to be sent to your device. Learn more about Early Notifications.

If you do not see the Live View play icon for you Video Doorbell, your camera may be in Event Response mode. When this occurs, Live View is only accessible from the notification sent to your mobile device in response to a motion event. Learn more about Event Response.

Note: Even though a motion notification may appear simultaneously on multiple devices, Live View access is limited to one user at a time.

Live View additional options

To conserve bandwidth, your Live View may dim and a Continue? button appears at certain intervals. The button appears a few times until your viewing limit of five minutes is reached. Tap this button to continue watching the Live View.

Portrait orientation

When viewing the Blink app in portrait orientation (tall, not wide), the camera view fills the screen width. You can use the ‘pinch to zoom’ gesture to view image details; however, the actual image size does not change.

Tap the icon in the top right of your Live View to switch to from portrait to landscape view. You can also turn your mobile device 90° sideways to automatically switch to landscape view.

Landscape orientation

Generally, the Blink app is viewed in landscape orientation (wide, not tall) and the images appear in full screen (as shown below).

Tap the icon in the top right to switch back to portrait view. You can also turn your mobile device 90° vertically to automatically switch back to portrait view.

Save

Saving Live View clips is an exclusive feature of a Blink Subscription plan. Learn more about how to save Live View clips.

Audio Options

Speaker Icon
While in Live View, tap the speaker icon to enable or disable the camera’s audio.

Two Way Audio
Cameras with a microphone and speaker display a microphone button at the bottom. Two-Way Audio‍ is supported on the Video Doorbell, Outdoor and Indoor (Gen 3), Mini, and XT2 cameras.

Extended Live View

Extended Live View is only available in through the Blink Basic, Blink Plus and free trial subscription plans.

This feature provides images and sound directly from a camera to the Blink app, up to 90 minutes at a time without user intervention. In addition, you can view regular Live View sessions up to five minutes without tapping on Continue.

Device Settings
Device Settings can be accessed in two ways. One way is from the Blink app’s home screen through . The other way is by tapping the More button in Live View and then tapping . Learn more about how to access your camera’s device settings.

Wired Floodlight Camera: Siren On/Off

The siren can be turned on and off remotely through the app. This plays a loud alert noise through your Wired Floodlight camera’s internal speaker.

How to leave Live View

When you’re ready to stop Live View, tap Close in the top left corner on iOS devices and < on Android devices.

Alexa enabled screen devices do not provide the Continue button and remain in Live View until the limit is reached. If the Live View ends before you are finished, you can re-enter Live View by pressing the icon again.

How to record Live View clips

To save Live View clips, you must have a Blink Subscription Plan or a free trial. Visit How to Save Live View clips to learn how to save Live View clips.

Two-way audio

Talking and hearing through your camera

The Blink Outdoor 4, Wired Floodlight, Video Doorbell, Outdoor and Indoor (3rd Gen), Mini, and XT2 cameras have two-way audio. Accessing the Blink app through your mobile device, you can speak and hear through the camera’s speaker and microphone.

Note: Two-way audio is not available in the XT and Indoor (1st Gen).

What if I don’t see the Blink app listed on my mobile device Microphone Permissions list?

• Go to your camera’s Live View in the Blink app and tap the grayed out Mic Disabled button at the bottom of the screen.

• A “Microphone Access” message displays.

• Tap Go to Settings and turn on the Microphone setting for your Blink app. This allows your Blink camera to access your mobile device’s microphone so you and talk and hear through the Blink app.

Two-way audio in the Blink app

Indoor and Outdoor (3rd Gen), Mini, and XT2

1.Tap Live View for any of your eligible cameras.

2.At the bottom of Live View is the Hold To Talk button.

3.Press and hold this button while you speak.

◦ A small animation appears above the button indicating your mobile device’s microphone is active and that your audio will be played through your camera’s speaker.

◦ Release the button when you are finished talking and the microphone will mute itself automatically. The audio can be heard through the camera’s speaker on the other end.

4.After 5 minutes, your Live View will stop and you must return to the Home screen to start another Live View session.

Note: With a Blink Subscription Plan or trial, you can use Extended Live View on the Mini camera. Extended Live View provides up to 90 continuous minutes of viewing.

Outdoor 4, Wired Floodlight Camera and Video Doorbell

1.Tap Live View for any of your eligible cameras.

2.While you’re in Live View, press the Tap to unmute button. The button will turn blue.

◦ A small animation appears above the button indicating your mobile device’s microphone is active and that your audio will be played through your camera’s speaker.

3.When you’re finished talking, press Tap to mute.

4.After five minutes, your Live View will stop and you must return to the Home screen to start another Live View session.

Note: With a Blink Subscription Plan or trial, you can use Extended Live View on the Wired Floodlight Camera. Extended Live View provides up to 90 continuous minutes of viewing.

Troubleshooting audio noise

Echo, feedback, or sudden repeated squeal noises

When the camera picks up sounds coming from the Blink app and transmits them back to the Blink app, “feedback” is created. Feedback is a repeating sound that increases in pitch and volume. It can occur when you have the Live View of a camera open in the Blink app and you are within hearing range of the camera.

• To avoid feedback, ensure that your mobile device accessing the Blink app is at least 10 feet away from your Blink camera.

• To stop existing feedback or unwanted noise, tap the Mute icon to silence the camera’s speaker. You can also stop the Live View session or switch out of the Blink app entirely.

Chirping, digital noise, or robotic sounds

Blink cameras convert audio into a digital stream so it can be heard for Live Views and recorded clips. During this conversion, extra sounds can sometimes be heard. These sounds may sound like a cluster of noises, scrambled distortion, chirps, or clicks when accessing a Live View or playing back a recorded clip.

The upload speed of your network plays an important part of your digital stream. When network speeds change quickly, your audio may be distorted. Blink devices require at least 2 Mb per second of available upload speed for each Blink device, even when multiple users are online.

Placement of your Blink devices

Device placement recommendations

Placing your camera near hard surfaces may produce unwanted sounds. Because a hard surface reflects sound, the camera microphone may pick up both the original sound and the reflected sound.

Placing the camera on an enclosed shelf or wall, or set back from a table’s edge near or between other objects may create a boxed-in environment that can affect the audio quality of the camera’s microphone and speaker.

For ideal placement, avoid placing your cameras near dense materials like brick, stone, concrete, or metals. Also, avoid placement near other electronic devices and confined spaces.

Setting your camera name and thumbnail

When a camera is first installed, its serial number (DSN) is the default camera name, and the thumbnail image will be gray. If you want to change the name of your camera or add a thumbnail picture, follow the steps below.

Change the camera name

From the Home screen, tap the camera name to change it, enter the new name, then tap OK to save.

Generate a thumbnail

From the Home Screen, tap the thumbnail button . The camera will take a screenshot of what is currently in view and replace the gray with this screenshot.

The thumbnail remains the same until you refresh it with this button. Learn more about using the Blink app.

This article describes the Device Settings in the Blink app.

Device Settings is found by tapping the icon in the top right corner of each thumbnail image on the home screen.

The following settings are accessible by tapping on each menu option.

General Settings

Last Updated
Tap Pull to Refresh to manually update your camera status.

Name
Camera name that will be displayed on your Home screen. You can edit this name at any time from here or at the Home screen.

Battery Level
This will indicate if your batteries are OK or need to be replaced.

Firmware
Displays your current firmware version.

Status LED
You can set when the LED light displays either as Off or Recording.

Change Wi-Fi
Use this option if you need to connect your Mini or Wired Floodlight camera to a different router or reconnect your camera to your existing router to troubleshoot an issue.

Connection to Wi-Fi
Displays the Signal Strength from the last time the camera connected. After moving your camera it is a good idea to return here and ensure you have good signal strength.

Connection to Sync Module
Displays the most recent Signal Strength measurement. After moving any part of your system, it is a good idea to visit this settings page to ensure you have good signal strength. If not, move the camera closer to the Sync Module or the Wi-Fi router.

Temperature
The current temperature of that camera. Tap on the temperature to enable temperature alerts or to calibrate the thermometer.

Delete Device
This option removes the camera from your Blink system and it will no longer appear on the home screen.

Motion Settings

Motion Detection
This setting must be on for the camera to detect motion. If this setting is off, the camera will not detect motion. Note: Once you enable motion detection, arm your camera to receive Motion Detection notifications and to save motion clips.

Motion Recording Types
For Outdoor 4 and Wired Floodlight cameras, select whether you want to see video for all motion, people only, or have them suppressed so no recordings are saved. Note: The Person Detection feature is only available when you have a Blink Subscription plan.

Motion Sensitivity
Controls motion sensor sensitivity. Low sensitivity detects larger objects in motion. High sensitivity detects smaller objects. Adjust sensitivity then test by creating motion notifications to achieve the right balance for your needs.

Motion Zones
Disables motion detection for selected regions of the camera view to prevent unwanted motion clips or notifications.

Retrigger Time
The length of time from the completion of one motion clip to the start of another. This can be set from 10-60 seconds.

Early Notification
This option sends the notification as soon as motion is detected and before the clip is complete. In the Blink App, tap the notification to be immediately taken to the Live View of that camera.

Video and Photo Settings

Motion Clip Length
The length of motion clips to be recorded and this can be set between 5 and 60 seconds. Mini and Doorbell cameras record clips up to 30 seconds.

Video Quality
This allows you to change the video quality of your Blink camera. More information about the different modes can be found here.

End Clip Early If Motion Stops
If the camera stops detecting motion, the clip will end before the full clip length is reached.

Flip Video
This should be enabled when mounting a Mini camera upside down on a ceiling so that the image is rotated right side up.

Night Vision
If set to Off, the illuminator will not turn on. If set to On, the illuminator will always turn on. If set to Auto, the illuminator will only turn on in low light conditions.

IR Intensity
This value controls brightness of the IR illuminator. This value can be set to Low, Medium, or High. Adjust to control glare or show more detail.

Illuminator Intensity
Adjusts the brightness of the LED on the Indoor (1st Gen) camera.

Photo Capture
If Photo Capture is enabled, a photo is taken once per hour. If motion notifications or other events happen (or not), the images are assembled at the end of the day into a photo-animation in the Clip Roll.

Note: Photo Capture only works with Indoor and Outdoor (3rd Gen) and Blink Video Doorbell cameras when you have an active Blink Subscription Plan. Learn more about Photo Capture.

Audio Settings

Speaker Volume
A slider sets the speaker audio level on the camera, as well as the chime loudness of your Video Doorbell.

Ringer Volume
Controls how loud the Blink chime sound plays when you press your Video Doorbell button when it’s wired.

Floodlight Settings

Wired Floodlight Settings:

Light Brightness
This slider sets the lights’ brightness from a scale of 1-10. The default setting is 5.

Dusk to Dawn
Turn on this setting to automatically switch your floodlights on at dusk and off at dawn, based on the amount of light the camera senses.

Timeout after Manual Activation
Select the amount of time the lights will stay on after they are manually turned on. The default is 5 minutes and you can set the lights to stay on for 30 seconds or up to 15 minutes. You also have an initial option Until I turn off, which requires you to manually turn off the lights.

Motion Activation
When enabled, the lights will turn on if motion is detected. The lights will turn on regardless of whether your system is armed or not.

Motion Activation when armed: When enabled, the lights will turn on if motion is detected and the camera will record a motion clip.
Motion Activation when disarmed: When enabled, the lights will turn on if motion is detected, even if your system is disarmed. No clips will be saved.

Timeout after Motion Activation
Select the amount of time the lights will stay on after motion is detected. The default is 30 seconds and you can set the lights to stay on for 30 seconds or up to 15 minutes.

Floodlight Mount Settings:

Battery Level
Displays the battery charge percentage for the floodlight.

Light Brightness
This slider sets the LED brightness from a scale of 1-10. The default setting is 5.

Timeout after Motion Activation
This setting controls how long the LEDs remain lit after the detected motion stops. You can chose between 15 seconds or up to 5 minutes after activation. 15 seconds is the default.

Note: When battery powered floodlights are manually turned on they will stay lit up to one minute.

Daylight Mode
When enabled, the LEDs will activate when motion is detected during certain daylight hours, when the outside light is limited like at dusk and dawn. The LEDs will not activate when there is an abundance of outdoor light, often during midday hours.

Daylight Sensitivity
This setting only appears when “Daylight Mode” is enabled and controls the sensitivity of the lights during daylight hours. Lower setting values only activate the LEDs in darker conditions and higher values will activate the LEDs in brighter conditions.

Firmware
This displays your current firmware version which may be automatically updated at certain intervals.

Pan Tilt Settings

Firmware
View your current firmware version.

Calibrate Pan-Tilt Mount
Select this option to perform a manual calibration. Learn more about how to calibrate your Mini Pan-Tilt mount.

Doorbell and Chime Settings

Chime settings when Doorbell isn’t wired:

Use Blink Mini Camera as Chime
Opens the Mini camera selector. All Mini cameras on the system will be displayed. Learn more about using the Mini camera as a chime.

Mount with wiring
Full instructions for mounting with wiring.

Mount without wiring

Additional settings when Doorbell is wired:

Chime Type
Select the chime type you use such as Mechanical, Digital or Mini.

Chime Power
Allows you to adjust the power of your chime.

Privacy Settings

Privacy Zones
Disables motion detection for selected regions of the camera view to prevent unwanted motion clips or notifications.

Video Recording
When this setting is off, the camera will only send motion notifications without recording clips; however, Live View is still available.

Audio Streaming
Turn this setting off to disable the audio features of your camera.

Can I Disable the Blue Recording LED on the Camera?

Blink cameras have an activity indicator in the form of a blue color LED light on the front of the camera.

For the Blink Indoor, Outdoor and Mini, the Status LED is controlled in camera settings.

Blink XT and XT2, have a physical hardware switch inside the camera to control whether the status light is on or off.

The Blink Video Doorbell and 1st generation Indoor cameras are not adjustable.

Blink Indoor and Outdoor blue recording status LED setting

For the Blink Indoor and Outdoor cameras, there is a switch in the Blink app camera settings screen, named Status LED. The Status LED can be set to the following:

• Always Off – Never display the Status LED.

• When Recording – Displays a blue light while recording.

Blink Mini blue recording status LED setting

For the Blink Mini camera there is a switch in the Blink app on the camera settings, General Settings screen named Status LED. The Status LED can be set to the following:

• Always On – Displays a green light on the front of the Mini camera when it is active and ready to use, then shows a blue light while recording.

• Always Off – Never display the Status LED.

• When Recording – Displays a blue light while recording.

XT and XT2 blue recording status LED switch

The XT and XT2 cameras have a hardware switch inside the battery compartment to control the blue recording light. This feature is not available on the Blink indoor cameras.

This article will show you how to turn off the blue recording LED on Blink XT. This LED is enabled by default from the factory.

1. Remove the battery cover. To see how to do that, click here.
2. To the right of your camera’s serial number, you’ll see a switch that says “REC. LED” with two positions, “ON” and “OFF”.

3. Using tweezers or a similar tool, slide that switch to the off position (toward the top of the camera).

Blink Video Doorbell blue recording status LED

The Blink Video Doorbell has a blue LED that flashes when the doorbell button is pressed. There is no setting to change this.

Blink 1st generation Indoor camera blue recording status LED

The first generation of Blink indoor camera does not have a setting to control the blue LED.

How Do I Use Scheduled Arming?

Set a schedule for automatically arming and disarming your Blink system

This article describes how to set an automatic schedule to Arm and Disarm your Blink system.

Create a schedule

1.To get started, open up the Blink app and tap Settings in the bottom right of the home screen and select Device and System Settings.

2.Next, select the system you want to schedule.
A system is a compilation of one or more cameras. When multiple cameras are added to the same system, they are linked together so that when you arm your system, all of the cameras in that system will arm at the same time.

3.To ensure that your system arms and disarms at the correct times, make sure your time zone is set correctly.

4.Next, tap Scheduling.

5.On the Weekly Schedule screen, create your schedule. Tap in the top right of the screen.

6.By default, Arm will be enabled and the toggle on the right will be set to AM.

7.Schedule Arming: First, set the time and day you want to set your schedule arming. Drag the clock hands to your desired time. Time is changed in 15 minute increments. Select the desired days located at the bottom of the screen. When you’re done, tap Save to set the scheduled arming and you are taken back to the Weekly Schedule screen.

8.Schedule Disarming: Next, set the time and day you want to set your schedule disarming. In the example below, the week schedule is highlighted in blue because the the disarm time has not been set. Tap the again to set disarm schedule.

9.Disarm scheduling is done in the same manner, but you will want to switch the toggle on the left to Disarm. Drag the clock’s hand to your desired disarm time and select the days of week again. Once you have your disarm schedule set to your desired time, tap the Save button again.

10.Your schedule is now set.

Modify existing schedule

You can modify saved schedules by tapping on the arm and disarm toggles and setting new days or times.

Disable Switch

If you want to temporarily disable your schedule (Example: You’re going on vacation), you’ll now see a disabled toggle on Scheduling in the System Settings menu. Enabling this switch this will disable your schedule until you turn it off.

Delete schedule

1.To delete your schedule, go back into your schedule view. Tap the trash can icon to delete the schedule.

2.You’ll be asked to confirm. Tap Yes.

Note: Scheduled arming and disarming of your system will override any manually set or IFTTT or Alexa triggered arm and disarm settings.

In order to record motion events, you must have motion detection enabled for a specific device by tapping on the Running Man icon from the home screen or enabling motion detection in the device’s setting screen. Learn more about understanding motion detection.

Deleting a System

Use this article to understand how to delete a system.

System basics

Blink devices work together as part of a system. Each system can manage up to ten Blink devices.

When you delete a system, all of its devices are deleted, and an email is sent to the account owner. Use this to quickly remove items from your account, for situations such as selling a device or replacing an existing device.

Deleting a system will not delete any previously saved clips within your storage location.

To delete a system

1.From the Home screen, tap Settings to view system settings.

2.Tap Device and System Settings.

3.Tap the name of the system you wish to delete.

4.From the System screen, tap Delete System, and then tap DELETE in the confirmation popup.

After confirming, you are returned to the Settings screen and the system has been removed.

Empty system

Empty systems contain no devices and is ready to either have devices added to it or be deleted.

If you delete all devices from a system, or have an incomplete setup after creating a system name, it is found in App Settings > Device and System Settings.

Home – Tap this to bring you back to the home screen where your cameras are accessible.

Email
This is the email account used when creating your account. You can change your email by tapping on this item and following the prompts.

Require Face ID
This feature helps to keep unrecognized people from accessing your camera systems.

Phone Number
This displays the phone number associated with your account for verification purposes and can be modified. Learn more about how to change your phone number.

Country
This option helps us personalize your experience when you select the country you live in, by ensuring you receive the right messages based on your location.

Link to Amazon Account
Use this option before you purchase a subscription plan, in order to link your Blink and Amazon accounts. Once your accounts are linked it will display as Amazon Account Linked. Learn more about linking your Blink and Amazon accounts.

Link to Alexa
Use this option to directly open your Alexa app in order to enable voice alerts and voice control for your devices. Learn more about Alexa.

Neighbors App
The Ring neighbors program and mobile app is available to customers. The app and more information can be accessed from https://ring.com/neighbors.

Manage Mobile Devices
To ensure only authorized people can access a Blink account, the account owner can view and control all additional devices that access their account within the Blink app.

Enable Crash Reporting

How Do I Configure the Camera’s Onscreen Display Text?

All Hikvision users will have seen that when you first log in to a camera the live view will have overlayed text stating the date & time and the default name of the camera “IPcamera 01”, depending on your requirements you may want to change some or all of this overlay text and below is the instruction for how to do that.

Method 1 – In a Web Browser

Below we will take you through each of the above settings and what they do:

Character Set – This lets you select the characters/language the OSD settings use, by default all UK stock will come with this set as GBK for English characters but if you are a European customer and you want to enter special characters from your particular language (e.g. é, ü, ç, etc…) you can switch it to EUC-KR to access those characters (do this will require the camera to reboot).

Display Name / Date / Week – These tick boxes let you show/hide the camera name (Display Name), the current date (Display Date), and the day of the week (Display Week)

Camera Name – This box lets you set the displayed name of the camera, it will also change the name of the camera shown in the System menu and if added to an NVR it will change the name shown in the live view camera list and the Camera Management list.

Time Format – This dropdown lets you select how the time appears in your live view, either 24-hour format (00:00 – 23:00) or 12-hour format (00:00 – 12:00)

Date Format – This dropdown lets you select how the day, month, and year are displayed. Your options are DD/MM/YYYY (UK format), MM/DD/YYYY (US format), and YYYY/MM/DD (Chinese/International Standard format). You also have the option of separating the day, month, and year with either a “–” or a “/“.

Text OverLay – On most cameras, you should have the option to add up to 4 additional text overlays to the live view. You can use all of them or none of them depending on your requirements.

Display Mode – This dropdown lets you choose how the text behaves on screen, by default it will usually be set to Not Transparent & Not Flashing which means the text will obscure objects/people behind it and it will be onscreen all the time. You have the option to change it to one of the following – Transparent & Flashing / Transparent & Not Flashing / Not Transparent & Flashing – When set to transparent the text will become semi-transparent so that you can see objects/people behind the text and if set to flashing the text will flash on & off screen every few seconds (there are no controls for the flashing duration).

OSD Size – Technically this setting should adjust the size of the OSD text but we’ve found that when changing it there was little change to the text and so we would just stick to the default Auto option because this will allow the text size to adapt based on where you are viewing the live image (e.g. whether a small phone screen or a large TV).

Font Color – This dropdown lets you select the colour used by the OSD text, by default the camera will use Black&White Self-adaptive which means the text colour will automatically switch between black & white based on what is behind the text (e.g. if a person walks through the text) and for high-security sites, this can be an important feature for using the footage in court because the adaptive text shows that the image/text has not been manipulated in post. If the scenario requires it you can select Custom which will allow you to pick the text colour from a standard colour table.

Alignment – Again like OSD size this setting doesn’t appear to have a huge impact so we would just leave it as the default Custom and you can adjust the positioning/alignment of the OSD text by dragging the red boxes around the live view window above (these red boxes are only for adjusting the text position and will not appear on the actual live view image).

Method 2 – Via the NVRs GUI

You can access similar OSD settings from the NVR by going to Camera > Display and selecting the camera you want to configure.

Although, as you can see from the above screenshot you won’t get all the settings that can be found by logging into the cameras directly.

How do I set up ‘Rotate Mode’ on my Hikvision IP camera for the best picture in narrow scenes?

Corridor mode is a really useful feature available on many different CCTV cameras that can be utilised to effectively monitor a space that is more vertical, rather than horizontal, in shape. These types or areas include hallways, pathways, staircases, shopping aisles, tunnels and roads. When installing and viewing a CCTV camera, you want the image frame to include as much of the area of interest, while cutting out as much of the redundant areas, like the walls and ceiling, as possible.

Corridor mode allows you to rotate the camera’s lens and the video image 90 degrees so that it’s in a portrait, rather than a landscape format. As a result, you can use the camera to really focus on those areas of interest of within in your frame changing the image’s aspect ratio from 16:9 to 9:16 to suit narrow monitoring settings. The image below is taken from a camera making use of this function and illustrates the differences between the corridor and standard settings:

This guide will show you how to utilise corridor mode on Hikvision’s three most popular camera types: domes, turrets, and bullets. I will cover how to activate this useful setting in iVMS-4200, a browser, and locally through your NVR’s GUI so that, irrespective of your setup, this guide should be of help.

Part 1: How do I activate the corridor mode function in my camera’s settings?

We suggest getting your camera set up on your network and activating corridor mode in its settings before you try to rotate and position the lens. This way, you can use the live video stream, in the correct aspect ratio, to point the lens in your optimum direction. Positioning the lens often involved a bit of trial and error to get the best result specific to your space.

Note – For the G2 AcuSense models, you will need to connect to the camera directly in a web browser and change the “VCA Resource” to Monitoring Mode by navigating to:

Configuration → System→ System Settings → VCA Resource

Please note that this will disable most of the smart event options, leaving only Scene Change Detection available to use.

Locally (via a monitor connected to an NVR):

If your camera is connected to an NVR, then you can easily configure corridor mode in the setting through the NVR’s GUI menu. Just Navigate to:

Menu > Camera > Image

Pick your camera from the top drop-down box beside Camera and then select “Clockwise 270 degrees” in the Enable Image Rotation box

Then, just click Apply

Through iVMS-4200:

If you’re not using an NVR, or don’t have easy access to your NVR’s GUI, then an option is to use iVMS-4200 to set up corridor mode by accessing the camera directly.

To do this, first, you’ll need to navigate to:

Menu > Device Management

Find your camera in the device list. If accessing a camera connected to an NVR, you’ll need to open your NVR within the Group section of the Device Management screen and then the particular camera within the NVR’s device list.

Click Configure (the small cog) on your camera.

If your camera isn’t connected to an NVR, then open Basic Settings, if it is then open Advanced Function.

In the popup window, open the Image tab in the sidebar. You should then see either a tick-box or drop-down that allows you to turn on Rotate, tick or select ON in the applicable box or drop-down and then Save. The camera view should now have been rotated.

In a web browser:

The other method commonly used to access cameras and NVRs is through a web browser. You will only be able to configure the image rotation settings for a remote camera. The image for cameras connected directly to an NVR cannot be rotated in this menu due to the restricted access to the camera’s settings.

To access your camera in a browser, simply input its IP address into the browser’s address bar and hit enter. You’ll be taken to a login screen, here you’ll need to fill out the username and password combination you created for the camera when you first set it up. If correct, you should be taken to a page displaying the camera’s live video stream.

The process of rotating the camera’s image is relatively similar to that in iVMS-4200, just go to:

Configuration > Image > Video Adjustment > Rotate > On

The setting should be automatically saved, you’ll see a popup in the bottom-right corner of your window confirming this. That’s it!

Part 2: How do I position and rotate my camera’s lens correctly?

Rotating the camera’s image through its settings will rotate the image 270 degrees. To rotate the final video stream to the desired 180 degrees, you will manually need to turn the camera’s lens 90 degrees in the opposite direction as compensation. The entire process allows the rotated image to properly fit a 9:16 portrait aspect ratio. You’ll need to follow the below steps in order to rotate the camera’s lens.

For Domes / Mini Domes:

Domes and mini domes are the fiddliest type of camera to move and rotate the lens on. You can do this with the camera either installed or taken down. You’ll need to take the outer casing off the dome first to allow you to move the lens inside.

Then, loosen the locking screw located to the right of the lens rotate to allow you to move the lens and bracket. Now twist the lens bracket (the bit that can turn surrounding the lens, see the picture below) 90 degrees anti-clockwise, so that the gap in it is in the 3 o’clock position. You should see the “90” marker in the middle of the gap once in this position.

Now twist the lens (see the picture below) 90 degrees anti-clockwise, holding the lens bracket in place while doing this helps, so the “90” marker is at 12 o’clock and the “0” marker is in the 3 o’clock position. It may take a bit of wiggling and feel unnatural but the lens will move to this position, you won’t break anything!

Finally, rotate the lens bracket 90 degrees clockwise so that the gap is at 6 o’clock, and then move the lens so that is fits into this gap, so it looks like the picture below. This next stage takes a bit of trial and error on your part to get your desired camera view.

You’ll need to fiddle around with the lens while looking at the camera’s live stream to ensure it is straight and something you’re happy with. Viewing your stream through iVMS-4200 or Hik-Connect is best as you can look at the image and remotely while fiddling with the lens position at the same time.

For Turrets:

Rotating the lens on a turret camera is a slightly more straightforward process. First, you’ll need to remove the trim ring (shown in the picture below) by twisting it anti-clockwise and lifting it off the base of the camera.

This should expose the locking screw, you’ll need to loosen this using a Phillips-head screwdriver enough for Turret’s ball to be rotated. You shouldn’t need to take the screw out entirely. All these parts are labeled in the picture below. The “UP” marker on the ball indicates the top of the camera.

You’ll now need to rotate the ball 90 degrees anti-clockwise so that this marker moved from the 12 o’clock to 9 o’clock position. Now, tighten the locking screw back up and replace the trim ring to its original position. The lens should now be appropriately rotated.

For Bullets and Mini Bullets:

The camera models that allow for the easiest rotation of their lenses are bullets and mini bullets.

It is important to note that the sun shield on these cameras cannot be moved to be above the lens when rotated, which presents a drawback so using them for corridor mode.

The sun shield will sit to the side of the rotating lens in this case so you’ll need to make sure that you shelter the camera somewhat (such as under the eaves of a roof) if setting a bullet or mini bullet for corridor mode.

Mini bullets have a locking nut (shown below) at the end of their base which will allow you to rotate the camera when loosened. Larger bullets will require you to loosen the locking screw, which is the screw furthest to the right of the base if looking at them (shown below).

Once you’ve loosened the locking screw/nut as appropriate, rotate the main body of the camera 90 degrees anti-clockwise, so that the sun shield is in the 9 o’clock position. This will rotate the lens. Once you’ve done this, tighten the screw or nut again to secure the camera in its newly rotated position.

Part 3: How do I change the layout of my camera streams to accommodate for corridor mode?

Once your camera is all set up in corridor mode, you’ll want to be able to adjust the way that you view the grouped cameras to avoid the camera’s live stream being reduced in size to fit the standardised landscape 16:9 frame. This is easily done by simply merging two of the landscape frames to make a portrait, 9:16 frame to which you can dedicate your camera.

This custom view layout can be set up in an NVRs local GUI and in iVMS-4200. Please see the guides below for an explanation on how to customise your stream layout to accommodate corridor mode.

In iVMS-4200:

Click on the small icon made up of several small boxes at the bottom of your Main View screen in the program, this should bring up the window division page. Click Add to create a Custom Window Division.

In the Add Custom Window Division popup, set the name and dimensions of your new stream layout as desired.

Now, click and drag your mouse over the two frames you want to merge to select them both. Once they’ve both been highlighted by a surrounding red box, click Joint to merge them. Now click Save.

Once back in the Main View, click on the Window Division icon in the bottom right-hand corner again and select your new custom layout from the list. Your new stream layout should load ready for you to assign the individual cameras to.

Locally through your NVR’s GUI:

Please Note – This option is only available on NVRs that are running Version 4 firmware. There is not currently an option to customise your stream layout on K-Series recorders. If you’re running Version 3 firmware then your only option is to configure your layout as per above in iVMS-4200.

It’s also useful to be able to customise the stream layout as viewed directly from your NVR’s GUI as this is many people’s preferred method for observing and configuring their camera feeds.

To do this, firstly, you’ll need to navigate to:

Configuration > Live View > View > Set Custom Layout (small cog in bottom-left hand corner)

In the Custom Layout Configuration popup, set the name and dimensions of your new stream layout as desired. Now, click and drag your mouse over the two frames you’re going to merge and click the Joint button in the top toolbar, followed by Save.
.

Once back in the Live View, click on the Split button in the bottom-right hand corner of your screen. Then, select your new custom layout from the Custom Layout list that appears to load your new stream layout. You can then add the camera streams to each frame as appropriate.

How Do You Setup Event Pre & Post Recording for a Hikvision Camera?

To Adjust the smart event pre-record and post-record you need to follow these steps:

1) Log in to the NVR/Camera

2) Go to Configuration > Storage > Schedule Setting > Record Schedule

3) Click the ‘Advanced’ button at the top right of the record schedule

4) Select the duration you want from the pre/post record dropdowns and click OK
.

One thing to be aware of with event pre/post-recording is what Hikvision call a Buffer Zone. The buffer zone is simply a bracket of footage around the current moment in time that is continually recording/erasing, this buffer zone allows you to record only by event but still have access to footage before and after the trigger event without having continuous recording enabled.

The issue is that the buffer zone is limited to around 2-4MB of storage and so the higher your resolution and stream settings the larger the files sizes are and thus the maximum duration of the buffer you can use is limited.

So basically an 8MP camera will not be able to have as long pre/post recording durations as a lower-spec 4MP or 2MP model. (unless you reduce the resolution/stream settings of the 8MP camera)

We recommend that to get the longest duration possible from your pre/post recording you should set them to the not limited option to use the full 2-4MB buffer capacity.

(One other thing to be aware of, there is no advantage or disadvantage for pre/post recording when using an NVR. Although the NVR is managing the event recording, each channel on the NVR is still set to the same 2-4MB buffer, the same as the individual cameras. So you would not get more pre/post recording capacity with 1x 8MP than you would with 8 x 8MP cameras on an NVR.)

How do I stop my Hikvision NVR from beeping?

If a Hikvision NVR notices what it deems to be a critical error, or “exception”, it will make a constant beeping sound to draw your attention to this.

These exceptions can occur when:
.

• A hard drive has not been installed or properly formatted

• There is an error with the hard drive, it has been damaged, or the cameras are just not recording properly

• A hard drive has been filled and not set to overwrite

• There is an IP conflict, preventing the NVR from operating properly

• The NVR detects an illegal login

• The NVR loses its network connection

Of course, ignoring these exceptions are not recommended. However, you can disable the beeping while you address whatever the issue is by following the steps below.

Step 1:

Connect to your NVR in a web browser by using its IP address and logging in.

Step 2:

Check what the exception that is causing the beeping is in the NVR’s logs. To find these, go to:

Configuration → System → Maintenance → Log

Set the log search so that the “Major Type” is “Exception”, with the start and end time covering a period when the beeping has occurred.

For example, you can see that it is an IP address conflict causing it in this case.

Note – Camera disconnections will not cause the NVR to beep.

Step 3:

Go to:

Configuration → Event → Basic Event → Exception

Find the “exception type” identified in step 2 in the dropdown on this page.

Step 4:

Select the exception shown in your logs from the dropdown.

You will see that “Buzzer” is ticked as a “Normal Linkage” action, which is what is causing the NVR to beep.

Step 5:

Untick this, click “Save”, and the beeping should stop.

My Hikvision NVR has both HDMI & VGA connections, can I connect two monitors to my NVR?

This question gets asked a lot and we have always assumed that as the larger Pro NVRs (9600 Series) have 2 x VGA & 2 x HDMI that they were the only models that would support any kind of multi-screen setup.

Today we did some tests with a selection of demo NVRs we have in our office to see if it was possible to connect two monitors to an NVR that only had 1 x VGA & 1 x HDMI, below are our findings from testing K-series & I-series NVRs

K-series (DS-7604NI-K1-4P(B) / DS-7608NI-K2-8P / DS-7616NI-K2-16P / DS-7716NI-K4-16P / DS-7732NI-K4-16P)

When we connected a monitor to both the VGA & HDMI of a 7604 4-channel NVR we were able to see the usual K-series GUI on both screens at the same time, but with the older K-series GUI when viewing on two monitors your actions will be synchronised (e.g. when you move the mouse on one screen the mouse will do the same movement on the 2nd screen, and this is the same for any action whether it’s opening menus and selecting individual live streams).

So the main disadvantage of this is that you can’t have different live views streaming on each monitor, both monitors will show exactly the same thing and the only difference will be that one will be a VGA quality. The advantage of these synchronised displays is if you have a setup with say a large wall-mounted monitor and a smaller desktop monitor,

you can have the HDMI output to the big screen while you operate from a smaller VGA screen, this kind of setup would be useful for any situation where you need to demonstrate a feature of the NVR or play back footage in real-time to a large group of people.

I-series (DS-7608NI-I2-8P / DS-7616NI-I2-16P / DS-7716NI-I4-16P /DS-7632NI-I4-16P / DS-7732NI-I4-16P)

We have a 7716-I NVR as part of our demo system in the office and when we connected two monitors to the VGA & HDMI connections on the back we got the live streams displayed on both monitors just like we did with the K-series NVR. The difference with the I-series NVRs is that they use the latest 4.0 GUI, and on the live view page of this new interface you will find an icon in the bottom right

of the screen labelled ‘AUX Monitor’ (see image below), clicking this icon allows for you to switch control between the HDMI & VGA screens and allows you to move through the NVR menus on one screen whilst keeping the cameras streaming on the 2nd screen.

Now that you have the ability to switch between and control multiple screens you would obviously want to be able to set each screen up with their own camera stream layouts, to do this simply go to the System page (cog icon at the top of the 4.0 GUI) and then click the Live View tab and select the view page from the dropdown options. On this page you can switch between the HDMI & VGA screen and set the camera stream layout for each monitor (see image below).

There are limitations to how you can set the layouts, you can set the same camera to appear on both screens in the same place or in different positions and you can also spread all 16/32 cameras out across

the 2 screens, the main thing you can’t do is have a camera appear in different positions when using different live view layouts on the same screen (e.g. if you put camera 1 in the top left position for the 2*2 layout it will also appear in this top left position when you switch to the 3*3 layout).

9600 Series, Deep in mind, and Other NVR models

We don’t tend to get hands-on with these larger, top of the range NVRs but as you will see from the product pages and datasheets for these models a lot of them have 2 x VGA & 2 x HDMI connections. We assume that the 2 x connections on these models takes the multi-screen setup one step further by allowing you to seamlessly

move your mouse between screens (like you can with a 2 screen setup on a PC), thus allowing you to adjust each screens layout with ease and see all your camera streams in full quality via HDMI connection on both screens. (be aware that you will only see the full resolution stream of each camera when you select to view main-stream)

If anyone out there on the forum has had experience using two monitors with a 9600 Series NVR (or any other top of the range NVR with dual VGA/HDMI ports) then please share any information you have in this thread.

How do I set my Hikvision ColorVu camera’s built-in light to turn on during event periods?

We’re often asked if a ColorVu camera’s built-in supplementary white light can be programmed to turn on during VCA event trigger periods, such as during instances of motion detection, intrusion detection, or line crossing detection.

After testing, we can confirm that this is now possible on all 2nd Generation ColorVu cameras (any with a ‘G2’ in the part number) and works reliably.

In effect, it means the light on the camera can be used like a PIR floodlight, but with more control over a number of variables. Notably, trigger object type (human, vehicle, or both), the motion detection area, and direction of trigger object movement.

Please see the below steps for instructions on doing this.

Step 1:

Connect to your camera directly in a web browser, even if it is recording to an NVR.

If your camera is connected to your local network, just use its local IP address to do this.

If it is directly connected to your NVR’s PoE ports, then you will need to use the virtual host feature to connect to the camera via your NVR’s Camera Management page.

Step 2:

If you have a ColorVu camera from the G3 platform, then make sure you have installed the firmware, version 5.5.800 (build 210628), or later.

If you have one of the G5 models (indicated by a ‘C’ at the end of the part number), install version 5.7.2 (build 211228).

You can also check your camera’s platform when connected to it in a web browser by going to:

Configuration → System→ System Settings → Basic Information

The platform will then be indicated by either a “G3” or “G5” in the “Firmware Version Property” box:

Step 3:

Once you’ve logged in, navigate to:

Configuration → Event → Basic Event (for motion detection) / Smart Event (all smart event options support this) → Select your preferred event type

Step 4:

Enable and set your event up in the Area Settings and Arming Schedule pages, this guide explains how to set up motion detection, line crossing, and intrusion detection.

Step 5:

Navigate to the “Linkage Method” page, tick the “White Light” box, and set how long that you want it to remain on for on event triggers (in seconds) in the “Duration” box.

Click “Save” once this is done so the settings are kept.

How do I use a Hikvision NVR’s “Virtual Host” feature?

One of the most successful selling points of a Hikvision NVR to many small-setup customers is the “Plug and Play” functionality that simplifies the setup process of their surveillance system.

However, plugging a camera directly into a port on the NVR, unfortunately, does not allow you to access the camera via its own internal LAN IP using a browser due to it being on the NVRs internal network, and this can significantly reduce the number of configuration options you have access to.

The NVR does allow you to configure many options for each connected camera, but some essential features are only accessible via connecting to the camera itself (such as audio codec options). This was of course a big problem previously.

With the advent of newer firmware and models of NVR, Hikvision has introduced a feature called Virtual Host. Activating this feature turns your NVR into a “host” for the cameras allowing you to connect to them via a browser. Essentially, the NVR forwards all traffic received from your browser to the appropriate camera you’re trying to connect to, eliminating the biggest problem of plug and play functionality.

Step 1:

First of all, access your NVR via a web browser. If you do not know the LAN IP of your NVR, download Hikvision’s tool SADP tool, which scans your network for any Hikvision devices that are connected and allow you to see and change their network settings, including the IP address.

Step 2:

Once you’ve logged in, navigate to:

Configuration → System → Camera Management

This screen displays all the connected cameras on your NVR. Notice that the final column labelled “Connect” is currently empty. We’ll be coming back here in a moment.

Step 3: 

Now, navigate to:

Network → Advanced Settings → Other

Turn on the Enable Virtual Host option.

Note – Your NVR will reboot when you click “Save”.

Step 4:

Now, navigate back to the Camera Management window from earlier. You’ll notice that the previously empty connect tab now features links for each camera currently connected to your NVR.

Step 5:

Click on any of these links to access the respective camera via your web browser:

That’s it, you’re done!

Hikvision PTZ cameras are not usually set by default to have their full range of movement enabled. This often means that cameras that are advertised as being able to tilt upwards are not able to do so straight out of the box, as this needs to be enabled in the camera’s settings.

You can check the movement range available on your camera in the PTZ section of its datasheet. Below is an example of this range shown for the DS-2DE5425IW-AE (S5):

0˚ tilt refers to the camera being in its home position, where it running parallel to the ground beneath and looking straight out at the scene.

Any negative figure (e.g. -15˚) here refers to the angle that it can tilt to upwards of the 0˚ position.

Any positive figure (e.g. 90˚) refers to how the angle of tilt available below this 0˚ position.

Cameras with “auto flip” will rotate 180˚ and then flip their image when it reaches its full 90˚ downwards tilt, which will give the illusion of you having a full 180˚ (or more) range when you try to continue to tilt beyond this 90˚ position.

To change the movement range currently set on the PTZ, you will need to connect to the camera directly in a web browser.

NB – If your camera is directly connected to an NVR’s network ports, then you will need to use the Virtual Host feature to access the camera’s backend. If it is connected to your local network, then you can just browse for its IP address to do this.

Then, go to:
.

Configuration > PTZ > Basic Settings > Max. Tilt Angle

You should have some different options in this dropdown, depending on the maximum tilt range of your camera. If you want to enable the complete range of movement, then select the option with the largest range between the two figures (in this case, “-15 – 90˚”).

Once you have chosen an option that you’re happy with, make sure to click “save” at the bottom of the page so that these changes are updated on the camera.

How do you Shutdown a Hikvision NVR?

This is a common question by Hikvision users so we thought we would create a short forum post to give a clear answer on the possible ways to shutdown an NVR.

Direct Monitor Access
If you are accessing your NVR from an HDMI/VGA monitor then it is possible to shutdown the NVR from within the menus, depending on the NVR model the menus and shutdown process is slightly different as you will see from the below explanations:

I-series (76xxNI-I2 / 77xxNI-I4 / 96xxNI-I8 / 96xxNI-I16) & K-series (7604NI-K1/4P(B) / 76xxNI-K2 / 77xxNI-K4) NVRs – In the top right corner of the live view you will see a power icon which if you hover over will bring up text that says either ‘Power’ or ‘Power Off’, click the icon and a pop-up menu will appear with 3 options, one of which will be shutdown.

Click shutdown and a box will appear saying ‘shutting down…’ and then after 20-30 seconds, new text will appear asking you to switch the NVR off at the back to complete the shutdown.

(Above is for I-series and K-series NVRs that are running 4.0 GUI and EUI GUI respectively, if your NVRs are running older firmware and not using the latest user interface you will need to follow the below instructions)

7604NI-K1, E-series (76xxNI-E1 / 76xxNI-E2 / 77xxNI-E4), SE-series, and other older generation NVRs – Right-click the live view page and select the main menu from the dropdown, one of the menu options should be clearly labelled ‘Shutdown’ which when clicked should bring up the same 3 options as mentioned above.

Click ‘Shutdown’ and a window should appear with the text ‘shutting down…’ and roughly 20-30 seconds later new text will appear asking you to switch the NVR off at the back to complete the shutdown.

Browser Access
if you are accessing the NVR primarily from a browser then your only option for shutting the NVR down is to simply flick the switch on the back of the NVR because the browser menus do not include a button to shut the NVR down like you can with the direct monitor.

How do I know if the lens on my Hikvison mini dome is orientated correctly?

It’s easy to install your Hikvision mini dome only to turn it on and find that the image is upside down. If you’re not familiar with Hikvision cameras, adjusting the lens and settings can be confusing. This post will explain the two different ways that you can rotate your camera’s image by:
.

1.Manually rotating the lens itself.

2.Rotating the cameras image 180° in the image settings.

Part 1: How do I orientate my camera’s lens manually?
.

1.Remove the mini dome’s cover by loosening the screws surrounding the glass dome, shown in the image below:

2.You should now be seeing something like the image below. Loosen the locking screw to the right of the lens, and then the lens bracket which locks the orientation of the lens in place. The lens is effectively attached to the camera body via a ball and socket joint, so this can be orientated however you like.

NB – This image shows a camera with the lens rotated 180°, you’ll actually need this 90° marker to be in the 3 o’clock position, and the 180° marker pointing towards the bottom of the unit.

3.The lens should be positioned like the one shown in the below image. The small line marker located directly parallel to the 180° marker signifies the top of the lens. So, this needs to be pointing up, towards the top of your scene. This will orientate the camera’s view correctly. You should also make sure that the lens bracket is repositioned correctly so that the thicker part surrounds the top half of the lens.

4.Now, tighten the locking screws and fasten the dome cover back in place, making sure the cover screws are tight to prevent water ingress into the camera. It’s always worth checking your camera stream before doing this to make sure that the camera view is orientated as you like.

Part 2: How do I orientate my Hikvision camera’s view through its settings?

1.Log into your camera’s web browser interface (not your NVR’s), by entering its IP address into the browser’s address bar. This will only work for cameras that are on the same LAN as your PC. If the camera is directly connected your NVR’s PoE ports, then you will need to use the NVR’s ‘VIrtual Host’ feature to access the camera’s own browser view, which gives you access to a wider range of settings.

NB – It is recommended that you use Internet Explorer if possible. If you are a macOS user, the best web browsers for this seem to be Google Chrome or Apple’s Safari. You might need to install Hikvison’s macOS Web Plugin as well.

2.When you have access to the cameras in a web browser, go to:

Configuration > Image > DIsplay Settings > Video Adjustment

The different options are will adjust your image as described below:

Left/Right: The image will be flipped horizontally, so it appears as a typical mirrored image.
Up/Down: The image will be flipped vertically, which will still show a mirrored image of the default view as you are not actually ‘rotating’ the image 180°
Center: This will be the option that you need to select to rotate the image 180°, which will show the same view as physically rotating the lens would.

If you only need to rotate the image 90°, then setting the Rotate option to ON will do this, as shown below.

To rotate your view 270°, set the Mirror dropdown to Center, and then set Rotate to ON.

How to Set up the Hikvision 2nd Generation Modular Intercom

We get asked a lot of questions by people looking to buy or who have already bought Hikvision’s 2nd Gen modular Intercom solution and for a long time, we have had to take the majority of those questions to Hikvision Support as we just don’t have enough hands-on experience with the intercom solution to answer them confidently.

Now we have finally found time to get a demo intercom system set up, test some of the features, and give you a guide of how to get a basic intercom solution up and running.

Will the smart tracking feature on a Hikvision PTZ camera allow it to zoom in to its maximum zoom ratio automatically?

We’re frequently asked if Hikvision PTZ cameras will automatically zoom in to their maximum ratio when they are automatically tracking a target. After talking to Hikvision, we found out that you’ll need to do the following to enable the camera to do this:

On the camera’s menu (via a web browser) navigate to:

Configuration > PTZ > Smart Tracking

Here, set the Zoom Ratio to its maximum value, which will then allow the camera to automatically zoom to this maximum ratio.

Do It Youself – How To Silence a HikVision DS-7608NXI-I2/4S AcuSense NVR

Hi Guys,

I’m new to business here, but have made a video tutorial to decrease fan noise on my AcuSense 7608-NXI-i2-4S device. Maybe this helps others as internal construction of many NVRs from HikVision seems to be almost the same.

I also have some questions towards the community.
1. What is my latest firmware available for my NVR?
It is an AcuSense 7608NXI-i2-4s, but as I see it is not a full i-series device.
i-series are up to 4.22, but mine seems to be different. Can I use firmware here or not: Firmware – Latest HikVision Firmware for I-Series NVRs – V4.22.005

2. Scene change detection+alarm seems to be problematic. My cameras are AcuSense 2086G2 Bullet, but they do only detect scene change when going completely dark scene to normal recording scene. If I let them record a normal scene situation and then simulate a camera removal from wall situation – camera does not trigger a scene change event.

How to update the Hik-Connect App on your Android phone using Hikvision’s App Store

The method for updating the Hik-Connect App on Android devices has recently changed to mean that users can no longer update via Google’s Play Store. To use Version 4.1.0 of the app Android users now need to access Hikvision’s own App Store and update via the .apk file which is downloadable from there. The reasons for this change have been discussed in this post, as well as our thoughts on the situation.

This simple tutorial has been put together to walk you through this new method for updating in 5 easy steps, so that you can ensure you install the latest version of the Hik-Connect app is installed properly on your Android device.

Step 1:
Open Hik-Connect if you have it already installed, and press the Upgrade Now button in the popup. If you don’t have the app installed or do not get this popup upon opening the act, this link to the Hikvision App Store will take you to the update file.

You need to make sure you open this page on the Android device that you wish to install the updated software on, as this will be the device that the update file is saved to! In the App store, make sure Android is selected in the top-left hand corner and then select Download beneath Hik-Connect to get the .apk update file.

Step 2:
Press Download when the prompt to do so appears at the bottom of your screen. Don’t worry, this is a safe and secure link!

Step 3
Select Install when the prompt to do so appears at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4
The installation will begin, wait for the progress bar to complete… Go and put the kettle on!

Step 5
If you get the same screen as the one below, then you’re all done. You should now have the latest version (V4) of Hik-Connect installed on your device. You can either press Open to launch the app, or Done to return back to whatever you were previously doing. If your screen doesn’t say App installed with a tick above, then you’ll need to repeat steps 1-4 again!

How do I set up an alarm to work with an external device on my Hikvision NVR?

We often have customers ask us “how do I get my new NVR to work with an existing alarm system I already have installed” or “how do I connect something to the IN/OUT ports of my NVR?” Indeed, for such an important feature for the NVR’s to have, it is not the most straightforward to get set up with.

We thought it would therefore be useful to put together this guide to walk you through how to configure the alarm function, either through locally through your NVR and monitor, or through Hikvision’s iVMS-4200 software, in 10 easy minutes.

Part 1: How to wire my alarm system into my NVR’s alarm input and output ports?

As daunting as it may seem when you look at the multiple different alarm ports in the back of your NVR, this part is simple enough once you know what you’re doing. If you’re struggling to find you alarm IN/OUT ports, they are the block of green connections which should be labeled as “ALARM IN/OUT” on the device.

The number of connections will vary here depending on the size of your NVR, the picture shown is of a smaller Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2-8P 8 Channel NVR. Larger NVRs will have more of each connection, but nonetheless, the process is the same.

Firstly, make sure you can locate the NVR’s “ALARM IN ” and “ALARM OUT ” ports, with their corresponding “Ground/G” ports. If you’re connecting a device to trigger your NVR cameras with an external event (e.g. a smoke alarm, PIR senor etc) then you’ll need to run the wires from the device into one of the input ports and its corresponding ground port.

If you’re connecting a device to be triggered by a smart event set up on your NVR (e.g. a siren or warning light), then connect the wires to the output port and corresponding ground port. All the ports are marked up in the picture below but should also be clearly labelled on your unit.

Part 2: How do I configure the alarm function settings of my NVR locally via a monitor?

Now that all the necessary connections are made, you’ll need to set up your NVR’s alarm function for it to alert the alarm system that you’re connecting to it.

Firstly, I’ll show you how to do this locally. You’ll need to boot up the NVR, once in the menu, navigate to:

Menu > Configuration > Network > General

Here, you’ll need to insert your network’s IPv4 address, IPv4 subnet mask, IPv4 default gateway and your preferred DNS server:

• If you’re unsure of your IPv4 address, subnet mask or default gateway, our tutorials on How To find your router and PC’s IP address using a Windows PC or How To find your router and Mac’s IP address using a Mac show you how to do so. Please note, you need to make sure the PC you use to find these is hard wired via a network/Ethernet cable do make sure this turns up the correct addresses for your network/router.

• Unless you know of a preferred DNS server that you’ve set up yourself, Google’s public DNS server address (8.8.8.8) should work fine. It’s worth entering an alternate backup DNS too beside Alternate DNS Server, Cloudflare’s public DNS address is a good option (1.1.1.1). Follow this link for a list of the best publicly available DNS servers.

Now, navigate to:

Network > Email

At this screen, you’ll need to fill in all the fields as appropriate to your Email account. If you’re unsure of these, then complete the fields as below:

Enable Server Authentication: Tick/check this box
User Name: Insert your email address here
Password: Insert the password you use to access this email account
SMTP Server: If you don’t know this, follow this link for “finding your SMTP server address”
SMTP Port: Insert either 25 or 587 here
Enable SSL: Leave this box unticked
Sender: Insert the first part of your email address (everything before @)
Sender’s Address: Insert your email address here
Select Receivers: Insert “Receiver 1/any name” here
Receiver: Insert your email address (same as Sender’s Address)
Enable Attached Picture: Tick/check this this box, it will mean that you’ll receive picture of anything that triggers your cameras’ alarms in an email.
Interval: Insert 5s (5 seconds)

When you’ve completed these fields, navigate to:

Menu > Camera

Ensure all your cameras are properly connected to the NVR and are visible on this screen. If you haven’t yet added any cameras to your NVR, this guide on adding Hikvision cameras to an NVR walks you through how to do so.

Now, navigate to:

Menu > Configuration > Alarm

This should take you to the Alarm Status menu. This menu lists the status all your alarm IN/OUT ports and any alarms that have been configured/assigned to these ports.

You’ll need to use this screen to check that you’ve set the correct Alarm Type for the alarm/device that you’re connecting. The options you have are N.O (Normally open) and N.C (Normally Closed). In brief, N.O alarm types use switches/sensors that normally remain open with no current flowing through them, so closing the switch allows for the flow of current and activates the alarm.

N.C alarm types, on the other hand, use switches/sensors the normally remain closed with current flowing through them, so opening the switch stops the flow of current and activates the alarm. There’s a lot to be said about N.O and N.C alarms but for now, you only need to know which category the alarm that you’re using falls under. If you want to take a journey down the N.O vs N.C rabbit-hole, I found this article on the differences between N.O vs N.C useful.

To assign an alarm to one of these IN/OUT ports, navigate to:

Alarm > Alarm Input > Settings (click on the small cog) > Trigger Channel

Choose the channel that you would like to trigger your alarm. In this case, we’ve selected channel 1.

Now, navigate to:

Settings > Arming Schedule

Select the hours that you would like to schedule your alarm to be turned on for. Typically, this would be 24/7, so set the schedule for Monday, Week 1 as 00:00-24:00. Now, copy this schedule to the rest of the week by clicking Copy and then checking the box for All in the popup window. If you only want your alarm scheduled for certain days, then select the specified days in this popup from the list of 1-7 (1 = Monday, 2 = Tuesday etc).Once you’ve done this, click Apply.

Finally, navigate to:

Settings > Linkage Action

Tick the boxes for Notify Surveillance Center and Send Email and then click Apply so that you email notifications whenever the alarm is triggered. If you have connected a separate device to be activated by the alarm in the NVR’s Alarm OUT port, then ticking the box for Trigger Alarm Output will activate this device when your alarm is triggered.

That’s it for the local setup section of this tutorial! Your NVR’s alarm function should now be set correctly.

Part 3: How do I configure the alarm function settings of my NVR remotely via iVMS-4200?

The first thing you’ll need to do is ensure you have the most up to date version IVMS-4200 installed and that you’re able to view the live feed of your camera(s) through the software.

If you haven’t already added your NVR to the program, navigate to:

Maintenance and Management > Device Management > Add
.

Add your NVR here by filling out the fields in the popup window, ensure the boxes beside Export To Group and Synchronise Time is checked and then click Add.
.

Now find the NVR on your device list and select:

Remote Configuration (the small cog listed beside your NVR) > [Basic Settings] > Event > Alarm
.

NB the configuration menu layout you will see henceforth will vary between two depending on the model of NVR that you have. I have included both variations for each step, so don’t worry if some of the below screenshots look unfamiliar.

Fill out the alarm parameters here, e.g. as follows:

Alarm Input: Select your NVR’s channel that you would like to trigger your alarm (e.g.: A<-1)
IP Address: Local
Alarm Name: Name your alarm as desired
Alarm Status: Normal/Remain Open or Normal/Remain Closed depending on the type of alarm, see the first half of this tutorial to understand the differences
Enable Alarm Input Handling/Enable Alarm Linkage Actions: Check this box
Arming Schedule: All-day Template
.

Open Arming Schedule, pick an arming template or a custom schedule of hours that you want your alarm active for.
.

Now, Click Settings beside Linkage Method. Check the boxes for Notify Surveillance Centre, Email linkage and Trigger Alarm Output (if you’re connecting an external alarm device to an output channel), then set the desired Triggered Camera.
.

Click Save, and then Save again in the alarm configuration window.

Switch back to Main View and select your NVR from the side panel.

Now, click the small alarm picture and speaker icons at the very bottom toolbar so that they’re both enabled and look like the second image below. This will enable the alarm’s function to send an image of its trigger, as well as the audio.

That’s it for the remote setup! It’s always worthwhile testing your alarms to check everything is now working as it should be.

How to Unbind a Hikvision Device using SADP on a PC

Unbinding a Hikvision device is not something that is required all that often, in most cases you can do the unbind from within the app. There are though some rare cases when the user does not have access to the Hik-connect account that the device is bound to, for example, if you have purchased a used device that has not been properly disconnected from its previous owners Hik-connect account or if you added the device to an employee’s account and they leave without removing the device from the app correctly.

As long as the Hikvision device has been set up correctly on your local network, then the process of unbinding should be pretty simple:

Step 1 – Open SADP on a PC
Step 2 – Click Refresh and select the device you want to unbind by ticking the box next to the device on the far left of the list
Step 3 – Click Unbind
Step 4 – Enter the current username and password of the device (this is NOT the username & password of the Hik-connect user you are trying to unbind the device from)
Step 5 – Enter the Verification Code and click confirm

You should then see a quick pop-up with a green tick saying Unbind Successful, If the device does NOT unbind and you get an error message like “The device is Offline” or “connecting device failed” then the most likely problem is that your DNS settings for the device are not set correctly.

You can change the DNS settings by logging in to the device using a browser and go to Configuration > Network > Basic Settings > TCP/IP and you will see the 2 DNS boxes at the bottom. We recommend that if you are unsure of what DNS to use that you enter default/most commonly used DNS servers which are shown below:

Prefered DNS – 8.8.8.8
Alternative DNS – 8.8.4.4

Once you have saved these DNS settings the unbind process should work

How do I update HikVision Firmware in just nine simple steps?

Updated 20-2-19 – corrected the link to the portal as Hikvision changed their url (again). Otherwise all is good. We use this method every day. Now viewed over 38,000 times.

Here’s how to upgrade your HikVision camera or NVR to the latest firmware version in just nine simple steps:

Step 1: Download the latest HikVision firmware to your PC.

Step 2: Extract the digicap.dav file (which is the actual firmware file) from the zipped file you downloaded.

Step 3: Copy that digicap.dav file to your PC’s root folder e.g. C://

Step 4: Browse to your NVR, camera, etc – using Internet Explorer:

Step 5: Login and navigate to Config -> Maintenance (screenshot attached below)

Step 6: Scroll to the bottom of the screen you’ll see Upgrade Firmware.

Step 7: Click the Browse button at the right-hand side.

Step 8: Browse to and select the digicap.dav file in your C:// drive

Step 9: Click ‘Upgrade’.

I have seen reports that you cannot leap updates, but not encountered the problem myself for some time (applies to old firmware of older models). If you do not succeed in upgrading from your current version to the latest version in a single step, please try interim releases.

How To Set Up Live View & Playback Audio on Hikvision Cameras

There is a small selection of Hikvision cameras that support some sort of audio – audio I/O, built-in mic, 2-way audio – but on multiple occasions, customers have come back to us saying they are getting no audio on live view or playback. So to avoid this problem in the future we are creating this post to take you through the steps that must be completed to get audio from a Hikvision camera.

Step 1 – Update Firmware

Keeping firmware up to date is always important so it is always where we start with any issue, now most firmware should support the audio but if you’ve had a model for several years and never updated it you are likely on an old firmware and so updating just removes any potential problem that might be caused by out of date firmware.

The most common audio cameras will be EasyIP 2.0+ (2xx3G0) and EasyIP 3.0 (2xx5FWD/2xx5G1) which all use the same G1 Firmware.

Step 2 – Video & Audio

Login to the camera, go to the Configuration page and open the Video/Audio menu where you will see all the video settings. The important one for audio is the Video Type which needs to be changed from Video Stream to Video & Audio as shown below:

Make sure you also switch the Video Type of any other streams you are using, the main one for most cameras will be the sub-stream which is used when viewing the camera from the Hik-connect app. Also, if your camera is connected to a Hikvision NVR make sure to check the camera is set to Video & Audio in the NVRs Video Settings.

Step 3 – Audio

The final Settings to check are the Audio settings which more often than not out of the box is set up correctly and should look like the below screenshot:

The only setting that might change depending on the model you have is the Audio Input option. If you have a camera with only a built-in mic or 2-way audio then the only option you will have is MicIn, but if the camera only has audio I/O connectors or has both options then you will have both MicIn and LineIn input options. Make sure if your camera has both options that you select the correct input for your setup, LineIn will be used if you have a more powerful audio device connected like an amplifier or a stereo microphone, while MicIn will be for smaller standard Mono microphones.

With all 3 of these steps completed, you should now have live audio from the camera on the browser, app, and direct monitor live view, but there is one final step to have your camera record audio.

Step 4 – Record Audio

Login to your camera/NVR and go to Configuration > Storage > Schedule Settings and select the camera with audio, once you have the schedule for that camera onscreen you will need to click the Advanced button which you will see in the top right of the schedule. UBox Camera supports mobile operating systems with android 5.0 or iOS10.0 and above. If your phone is below this system, the version will not be used properly and will need to be upgraded. The device needs to be connected to the Internet via WiFi. It needs to support 2.4 G band WiFi router with WiFi delay of no more than 100 mS and a network upload speed of no less than 1 MB / S. Additional relay equipment is required in the environment where the WiFi signal is weaker due to the longer outdoor and routing distance or with the barrier.

Why didn’t I receive the verification code when I registered my UBox account?

UBox APP supports email registration. Mailbox registration should be noted that some mailboxes may list enterprise registered mail as spam, if you don’t find a registered email, you can check if it’s included in the mail bin.

Why need to enter home address after registration of UBox app?

The home address is used to identify the location of the device and connect to the nearest server, as well as to facilitate the system management and linkage of the follow-up smart home product set with the home as the unit. There is no need for home address to enter a detailed address, however, it at least needs to include country and province/state, opens UBox APP location permission, then it will automatically fill in the address.

UBox APP supports QR code and sonic wave configuration devices to connect to WiFi. It shall check the following if the configuration fails:

To make sure that the smart device are in configuration mode (WiFi products the blue lights flashing and some products have voice prompts into the configuration mode).
after the device is config failed, the device LED may in 3 status ,blue light blue light blinking, or a red light. If the LED blue light, it indicates that the device has received configuration information. If the red light is always on, it shall check if the WiFi password is wrong or out of WiFi router coverage.
If the device blue light is always on after the configuration, however, the configuration fails, it needs to look at the reasons for the failure, for example, if the device are already tied to another account, you need to contact after-sale service.
If it’s confirmed that the above-mentioned are ok, just try restarting your phone and router and try again.

How to use PIR human detection function in UBox camera, why is there alarm when when there is no one?

PIR is a far-release infrared sensor, which is based on the human body’s far-release infrared to determine whether people are active. There are other objects in nature that have the same wavelength of infrared, such as sunlight, mammals, and cars and heat sources.

Serious electromagnetic interference can also cause false triggers to the equipment. The interference of the PIR sensor can be reduced by the following means.

Try to avoid direct sunlight, solar cameras and other outdoor products. Radar technology has been added, therefore, there is no need to avoid direct sunlight.
Where there are more people, it is recommended to turn off the PIR or turn down the sensitivity to reduce false alarms.

Why did the PIR receive the alarm push, and no one in the screen appeared?

Set the device PIR to high sensitivity to capture the video in 1 second. If a person leaves quickly within 1 second or the PIR is disturbed, there may be an alarm that no one appears. Different PIR sensitivity trigger different time and the following is the description of PIR sensitivity and reaction time.

Disabled:	Close the PIR function.
Low:	The device will start to take videos and send an alert to the mobile device 7 seconds from the moment it detects a moving object. B133
Medium:	The device will start to take videos and send an alert to the mobile device 5 seconds from the moment it detects a moving object.
High:	The device will start to take videos and send an alert to the mobile device 1 second from the moment it detects a moving object.

Note: It is recommended to set the PIR detection at “Disabled” or “Low” to save battery power.

How to set presets & auto-patrol for xmartO PTZ cameras?

The xmartO WT series, DZ series and DPM series PTZ cameras support up to 8 preset points.

Definition of ‘presets’: PTZ cameras can be navigated to view different areas. Presets record the key points so you can reach the recorded poinits with one tap.

Auto-patrol: a feature xmartO developped based on preset feature. The camera patrol the preset points back and forth. AKA auto-cruise, auto-scan.

1. Set preset points

While viewing the camera, tap PTZ icon to enter PTZ menu; then tap Preset to enter preset menu. Use the joystick to navigate the camera to the 1st point, tap ‘Add Preset’ to save the point 1; then navigate the camera to next point and tap ‘Add preset’ to save the point 2…you can save up to 8 points.

2. In the preset menu, you can tap ‘Go to‘ to reach the preset points.

3. Start Auto-patrol

a) If your camera does not have optical zoom, tap the image, on right you will see the A icon. Tap the A icon the camera will start to patrol the preset points.

b) If your camera is the version with optical zoom, well it has higher level chipset inside. The Auto-patrol is a bit different. In preset menu, tap ‘Shortcut mode’, type in ’13’ and tap Go to, the camera will start to patrol the preset points.

4. Stop Auto-patrol

Tap any of the direction on the joystick will stop the auto patrol.

Tips: cameras added to xmartO NVR have the same steps. It’s similar to on the NVR. Only the NVR’s UI is a bit different and the A icon is in the middle of the joystick.

CMS is called Camera Monitor System. It is a camera monitoring client for online preview image, video storage, remote playback, device management, video/screen download and other functions. It is suitable for DVR, NVR, IPC, VR CAM, Wifi IPC and other devices.

1. Download xmartO WallPixel CMS Software

2.Installation and operation

Step 1: Run the xmartO_WallPixel_for_PC_Setup.exe installation package.

Step 2: Select the language that your system needs to use.

Step 3: Read and accept the agreement.

Step 4: Select and determine your software installation path.

Step 5: After the installation is successful, immediately run and use.

3. Login

3.1 Local Login

Default username: admin
Default password: no password, leave it blank

For security reason, we suggest you set a password after you are logged in.

3.2 Cloud Login

Use the app account: Enter the username + password of the app account on the cloud login interface to log in.

Register an account:Click on the registered account in the cloud login interface, enter the mobile phone number / email (if using the mobile phone number to register, you need to add the mobile phone number area code), click OK, enter the password and verification code and click Register now, after verification, you can complete the registration.

Forgot password:Click on the forgot password in the login interface, enter the registered account to obtain the verification code, enter the verification code and the new password and click OK to reset the password.

4. Add Device to CMS

You can add devices to the CMS in two ways:

Method 1: After adding the device using the mobile APP, directly log in to the CMS using the APP account password, and you can view the device you have added in the CMS system;

Method 2: Please make sure that your device is equipped with a network or a network cable, log in to the CMS, and click the add button in the upper right corner.

Add IP / DDNS: manually enter the device “IP / DDNS + port + channel number + device password”, select “type” according to the actual situation of the device, the rest of the information remains the default, click Finish to add successfully.

Cloud ID addition: manually enter the device “cloud ID number + channel number + device password”, select “type” according to the actual situation of the device, the rest of the information remains the default, click Finish to add successfully.

LAN search device addition: select the device management in the function bar below the system, click the interface refresh button, wait for the device to be searched, check the required device and click add (enter the device IP / ID to quickly find the need to add device)

5. Live View
The xmartO WallPixel CMS allows you to view cameras on your computer both locally and remotely.

5.1 Main Menu Introduction of CMS:

Playback: Click to playback videos stored in your hard drive
Device Management: Manage your device(s)
User Parameter: Some basic settings of CMS
Record: Record short videos of live view cameras, videos will be stored to your computer
Screenshot: Take snapshots of live view cameras, pictures will be stored to your computer
Disconnect All: Turn off live view of all cameras on CMS
Screen Number: Choose how many cameras you want to display on one screen, the CMS allows you to view up to 64 cameras simultaneously
More Function: More basic functions of CMS, including creating user, setting password and etc.

5.2 Multi-channel Viewing
CMS allows you to view up to 64 cameras simultaneouly. So if you have multiple systems, you can view all cameras in multiple systems simultaneously on this CMS.

5.3 Record and Snapshot
CMS allows you to record short videos and take snapshots when live view cameras, videos and snapshots will be saved in your computer. You can change the storage path here as shown in the picture.

6. Playback
CMS allows you to playback your history videos stored in hard drive. With this CMS, you can playback videos stored in hard drive or micro SD card from all over the world. Detailed instruction as below:

a. Click “Playback” on bottom navigation, it will pop out message “Close the video being played?” Choose Yes.
b. Select a window on left(1), select a channel from the device(2), choose the Record Type, select a date(3), and click “Retrieval”(4). The CMS will start playback videos of that channel immediately. Move the cursor on the time bar at bottom to locate an exact time to replay the camera per your needs.

c. You can record short videos or take snapshots while playback videos. Videos and snapshots will be stored to your computer.

7. Backup
CMS allows you to download and backup videos to your computer.
The downloaded video files are in .mp4 format, you can playback with any player.

Detailed instruction here:
Click “Playback” on bottom navigation, select a device channel, choose Record type, select a date and then click “Download” on bottom right. You’ll see below interface with a list of all recorded videos.

Videos will be saved to your computer, as shown in below picture. You can also change the storage path.

8. User Management

8.1 Change admin password
Click “More Function” on bottom navigation, choose “System Message” and click “Change Password”. Keep the old password blank, and enter your new password, confirm your new password, and click “Confirm” to save it.

Something important need to pay attention to:
If you have once installed old ESeeCloud version on your computer and plan to upgrade to this new one, you need to uninstall the old version from your computer completely, and delete related files. Then install this new version, otherwise the new one does not work on your computer.

Here is how to uninstall the old one and delete the related files from your computer:
1. Uninstall the current ESeeCloud software from your computer.
2. Go to the place where you install this software on your computer and delete the file named with ESeeCloud completely, usually it is stored here: C:\Program Files (x86)\EseeCloud
3. Go to below path and delete the ESeeCloud file, as shown in below picture.
C:\Users\Administrator (or your username)\AppData\Local\EseeCloud
C:\Users\Administrator (or your username)\AppData\Local\EseeCloud_Data
C:\Users\Administrator (or your username)\AppData\Roaming\EseeCloud

If the file is not shown there, then you need to check “show hidden files, folders and drives “, as shown in below picture.

How to view xmartO cameras on Mac?

EseeCloud is an updated CMS to preview, playback and backup the xmartO cameras/ camera systems on Mac.

1. Download ESeeCloud CMS Software
Download the EseeCloud CMS from xmartO website:

2. Install and run ESeeCloud CMS on your Mac.
Install the CMS on your Mac and run it. If you have problem installing ESeeCloud CMS to your Mac, please refer to,

3. Login ESeeCloud
After that, you will be asked to type in the username and password. The default username is “admin”, default password is blank. For security reason, please set a login password to prevent unauthorized access.

4. Add Device to ESeeCloud CMS

4.1 Auto add, applies to add devices in LAN
EseeCloud CMS will search the devices in LAN automatically and display them in the Device Management list.

a. Click “Device Management” in upper navigation, you’ll see your device(s) listed there.
b. Select the device(s) and click Add. Your device(s) will be added to ESeeCloud CMS. They will show on upper right.

c. Go back to Live View, and click on the “play button”

behind each device to preview. If you want to view cameras from all devices at the same time, simply click “All Connect” at the right bottom. Click on the “stop button” behind each device to stop previewing cameras of this device.

4.2 Manual add, applies to add devices remotely
If you want to view cameras from a remote computer, you need to add the device to your ESeeCloud CMS manually on that computer.

a. Run and login ESeeCloud, then click “+” at top right corner. Or click “Device Management” on upper navigation.

b. You’ll see below interface. There are two ways to add device to ESeeCloud: Add cloud ID and Add IP/DDNS.
Add cloud ID: Add device to ESeeCloud with your NVR’s Device/Cloud ID. It is available for local and remote access.
Add IP/DDNS: Add device to ESeeCloud with your NVR’s IP address. It is available for local access only, so if you want remote access your cameras on this computer, choose the first Add cloud ID.

c. Type in the information required and click “Add”, the device is added to this ESeeCloud CMS, you can preview the cameras now.

Note: If you are adding xmartO VR camera, please turn on the Panorama.

5. Live View
5.1 The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to view cameras on your computer both locally and remotely. Please refer to below image for basic introduction of buttons.

5.2 It allows you to view up to 64 cameras simultaneously.

5.3 It supports all xmartO security camera systems and VR cameras. You can turn on panorama for VR cameras here, and also you can turn on the auto cruise.

6. Playback
The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to playback your camera videos. With this CMS, you can playback videos stored in hard drive or microSD card from all over the world. Detailed instruction as below:

a. Click “Playback” on upper navigation.
b. Select a window on left(1), select a channel from the device(2), choose the type(3), and select a date(4), click “Search”(5). The CMS will start playback videos on camera windows shortly. Move the cursor on the time bar at bottom to locate an exact time to replay the camera per your needs.

Note: The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to playback 4 cameras at the same time.

7. Backup (It works in LAN network only)
The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to download and backup videos to your computer.
The recorded video files are in .avi format, you can playback with any player.

Detailed instruction here:
Click “Resource Management” on upper navigation, then select the channel you want to back up, select the type and date, click “Search”, you will see the recordings on the left. Click the “Download” icon to download the videos you want. Videos will be saved to your computer.

Videos will be saved to below path in default:

/Users/macusername/cms_data/cms_video_download/

You can change the storage path here:
Click the setting icon at upper right corner, then you’ll see below box. Click the three dots to change the storage path, and click Confirm.

8. User Management
8.1 Change admin password
The ESeeCloud CMS’s default username is admin, and default password in blank, means no password. For security consideration, we suggest you set a password for CMS after logged in. Here is how:

Click the “human” icon at upper right corner, then click Change Password. Keep the old password blank, and enter your new password, confirm your new password, and click Confirm.

8.2 Add new user
You can add new user for ESeeCloud CMS, here is how:
Click User Management on upper navigation, then click New, you’ll see below box.
Enter a username and remark name, click Confirm. (Remark name here is your nick name.)

Note: When you create a new user, you are not asked to enter new password for this user. It uses default password blank. You can change the password after logged in.

How to view cameras on the mobile app (WallPixel)

1. Download and install WallPixel App

Download the free WallPixel mobile app from App Store or Google Play Store and install the application on your phone or tablet.

2. Creating an Account

Tap the app, click “Register”, enter the required information to create an app account.
If you already have an account, login with your username and password.

After click “Register”, input your phone number or email address then the app will send you the verification code.

Check the email or text you’ve received and input the verification code.

Then you need to set a password and confirm it again. (The password should be a combination of 6-20 numbers or letters.)

At last, click “OK”,you’ll create the account successfully.

3. Adding NVR Device to App

Tap “+” at the top right corner, then tap the first option ” Wifi Camera Kit with NVR” to add your NVR device to the app.

4. Entering Device Information

Enter the required device information and click Save.

Cloud ID: This is your system’s Device ID, which can be found at the right bottom of your monitor. It is 9 digits. (NVR Device ID can also be found at NVR’s System setting – Network setting)
Username: Your NVR login username, default is admin. If you’ve set a new user for your NVR, use the new username here.
Password: Your NVR login password, default is empty, means no password, leave it blank. If you’ve set a new password for your NVR, make sure to type in the new password here.

* You can also scan to add your NVR device to the app.
a. Right click your NVR mouse, then click System setting – Network setting, click “Show QR Code”. The Cloud ID QR Code will be displayed.
b. Open the app, click + at upper right corner, then choose Scan and scan the QR Code displayed in your NVR’s network setting interface.
c. Enter your NVR’s login username and password, save the settings. Your device is now added to app. You can start live view cameras now.

5. Viewing Cameras on Phone

Once you click “Save”, the device will be added to your account and you’ll be directed to the device list page. As shown in below picture. Click the device to start live viewing your cameras.

6.View live video on mobile

Playback: You can playback the recorded videos in HDD on your mobile. Select any channel and click playback to review recorded videos of that channel.

Window: You can choose to view 1/4/6/8 cameras at a time.

Aspect Ratio:You can adjust the aspect ratio of the cameras’ image.

SD: Change live view resolution. You can select from HD or SD. HD means high definition resolution, while SD means standard resolution.

7.My account info.

Personal info: View your account information and change the password.
App setting: Some basic settings for your app.
Version: Your current app version.
Logout: Log out your current account.

Click the camera image, it will pop-out a quick menu on bottom, pls click Color & Light-Light Model.

Infrared mode: uses IR LEDs only. At night you see B&W night vision. And the camera will then automatically adjust the day & night vision.

full color mode: flood lights stay on at night, you see color night vision.(Only cameras with floodlight can do it)

smart mode: B&W IR night vision when nobody detected, flood lights automatically turn on when people detected.

How to Upgrade xmartO IP camera firmware

OTA upgrade cameras firmware from APP (for standalone cameras)

For standalone cameras, in the APP device list, tap “…” at upper right corner of your device, choose “Settings”. It will show a red dot if there is a newer version.
Tap the red dot to upgrade your camera from OTA server.

It will take a few minutes to update your camera; and the update requires your camera to have good Internet connection.

Upgrade camera firmware from NVR

For multiple-camera systems, if you want to upgrade the cameras, you will need to do it from the NVR menu with an USB stick.

1. Please download the camera’s new firmware from xmarto.com or contact customer support for new firmware

2. Copy the firmware to an USB flash disk’s root directory (not in any folder)

3. Plug the USB flash disk to your NVR’s USB port

4. Go to System setting-CH Setting- IPC Maintenance, choose the firmware from USB Storage, and click start to update the firmware of your camera.

The camera will be uprgraded and you will see a new version.

Tips: if your NVR has only 1 USB port, click Start, the NVR will start a 60-second count down. Within 60 seconds, unplug the mouse and plug the USB flash drive, your camera will be upgraded.

How to enhance WiFi connection between cameras and NVR?

While using XMARTO WiFi security camera system, customers may experience video freeze, video lag or even “no video” issue.

This is typically caused by weak WiFi signal from cameras to the NVR.

Based on 2.4Ghz WiFi, all cameras connect to the NVR’s own WiFi, just like your phones/ tablets connect to your home WiFi router.

In line of sight, XMARTO WiFi cameras can be mounted 1000ft (300m) away from the NVR. The camera system handles distance very well.

However, like any WiFi devices, the cameras do not handle obstacles very well. Each wall reduces its WiFi strength noticeably.

How Obstacles Affect Your Signal Strength

When your wireless signal is transmitted through various materials, such as walls and windows, the signal strength is affected. Though the NVR and wireless camera may be very close in proximity, you could still notice high signal interference if the signal passes through certain obstacles. For instance, if the signal passes through a concrete wall it will be severely weakened. Please reference the below chart to see which obstacles highly affect your signal and which do not.

Based on the facts, below are some suggestions of how to optimize your cameras’ WiFi connection.

1. Select a WiFi channel with least interference for your NVR

As the only hub, the NVR’s WiFi performance is crucial. To select a least-interfered WiFi channel for the NVR, ensures its performance not affected by other WiFi devices.

This is how to,

A) In NVR’s System setting – Network setting – WiFi setting. Click “Auto Select Channel“, the NVR will automatically select a WiFi channel with least WiFi interference.

B) For Japanese customers, you can choose region MKK and channel “Other” (channel 14) to avoid some WiFi interference.

2. Place your NVR and cameras reasonably

The NVR is the only WiFi hub, all cameras are WiFi devices that need to connect to the hub. Centralize the position of the NVR so it reaches all cameras well.

Principle of placing NVR and cameras: avoid any possibly avoidable wall, in the line from NVR to cameras.

Do not place near high voltage wires or other sources of electrical interference. Electrical interference will degrade the quality of the signal.

Below are some more tips:

If there has to be obstacles between the NVR and camera, adjust the height of camera or NVR to avoid floor. Floors are normally heavier than walls.

Always find possible open between NVR and camera, mount camera and place NVR’s spot accordingly to allow signal to pass.

Metal walls (including metal garage gate) absorb wifi signal. Use extra extendable wifi antenna to bring camera’s antenna inside the wall. This also works for heavy concrete wall.

Try to keep camera and NVR’s antennas parallel to get better signal pick-up.

3. Bring the camera’s antenna through a wall

If a camera needs to be mounted behind a wall, you may use a WiFi antenna with extension cable to pass the wall.

Search “WiFi antenna with extension cable” on retail website like Amazon, you will find a lot of options.

Mount the camera behind the wall, drill a hole, wire through the hole to bring the antenna inside the wall.

4. Take advantage of XMARTO Dream Liner WiFi Relay technology
The xmartO Dream Liner technology uses cameras in middle as repeaters. That way, further cameras connect to closer cameras 1st, and then to the NVR as a group.

How to pair a camera to an XMARTO NVR?

After you purchased an extra add-on camera, or when you want to swap a certain camera, you need to pair the new camera to your NVR.

1. Add by WiFi (for most cameras)

XMARTO’s “Add Cam by WiFi” feature makes this super easy.

1. Bring the camera close to the NVR, plug it to power.

2. On NVR screen, right click to enter main menu > Add Cam by WiFi. The NVR will search and add the new camera(s). Done.

The new camera will be added to NVR channel within a miniute.

What if: If this does not work, hold the camera’s reset button 6 – 10 seconds to bring the camera into config mode. Run “Add Cam by WiFi” on NVR.

2. Add with Ethernet cable (for cameras without reset key)

Another way: pair the camera with an Ethernet Cable.

1.Plug the new camera to power. Use an ethernet cable to hardwire the camera to your NVR’s LAN port.

2. On NVR screen, right click to enter NVR’s main menu > Camera Manage.

3. In upper box, click “Refresh” button to search the camera out. The camera will be listed out an initial IP address 192.168.1.xxx

4. Click to select the camera, then click in below box to select an empty channel.

5. Click “Match Code“. The system will start to pair the camera to NVR’s WiFi.

6. Within a minute or so, the camera will be successfully paired to channel and displays image. You can now unplug the camera and mount it to where you want.

How to set a closer camera as a WiFi repeater for a camera that is out of WiFi range?

Start from Generation 3 (NVR and camera with ver.3.0+), XMARTO WiFi camera systems come with AUTO WiFi Relay.

AUTO WiFi Relay: when a camera is having weak WiFi signal. It shall come in and out frequently. Such a camera will AUTOMATICALLY find a close-by camera as WiFi repeater, connect to that camera, thus to relay back to the NVR.

First of all, to get good WiFi connection for cameras, you should decide your NVR’s location and WiFi channel well.

1. Centralize your NVR location so it reaches all cameras well.

2. Use a WiFi channel with least WiFi interference, here is how,

A) In NVR’s System setting – Network setting – WiFi setting. Click “Auto Select Channel“, the NVR will automatically select a WiFi channel with least WiFi interference.

A1: It’s set on by default. Right click to enter NVR main menu – WiFi Relay, you can see the status.Make sure Auto WiFi Relay is checked.

Q2: How can I take advantage of AUTO WiFi Relay?

A2: Since it’s an auto feature now, you don’t need to do much setting job.

Here is our suggestions:

Before mounting your cameras, simply place all cameras where you want, plug them to power, wait up to an hour to see whether all cameras can stream smoothly to the NVR. If they do, mount them; if they don’t, adjust the location of your NVR, or a certain camera, till you get a stable connection for all cameras, then mount them.

When you do the test run, most cameras shall be able to connect directly to the NVR. A certain camera that is far, or with more obstables may have weak WiFi signal to connect to the NVR. It may come in and out. When it’s coming in & out, it trys connecting to the NVR as always. If it feels hard to connect, it will find an alternative – a middle camera as repeater.

This is an algorithm, it may take up to 30 minutes for the camera to form a relay chain; and suprisingly you may find it’s a changing relationship. Maybe in the morning the CAM2 connects to CAM1, in the afternoon you find CAM2 connects to the NVR directly.

It’s not hard to understand. WiFi signal is something invisible and changing. Maybe in the afternoon you had your iPad in your room, your NVR in the living room is less interfered, CAM2 finds the NVR itself a better hotspot to connect.

After the test run, as long as you have all cameras streaming well to the NVR, you can mount them to their tested spots. (regardless how many WiFi bars they give you)

If you do have a camera that is hard to connect after adjusting other cameras’ locations, you should go ahead to mount the other cameras, then come back to this very camera.

How to enable PTZ camera auto tracking on the NVR/Phone ?

When you add the PTZ cameras to the exsisting system as add-on cameras:

Go to System setting-CH Setting- Video Detection and enable the Motion Detection Tracking

On NVR version 3.2+

Click the image of a camera to pop-out the quick menu on bottom. Click ‘PTZ control’ to enter PTZ menu.

2. In PTZ menu, use the joystick to move the camera to where you want. Type preset ‘1’ and save. This point is saved as preset #1.

3. Enter ‘Auto tracking’ menu, check ‘Motion detection tracking’ and ‘Home point’, type preset 1 as the home point and Apply.

The camera will return to preset 1 after the tracking.

On the phone：

Run the app, click “…” at upper right corner of your device, Choose “Device Setting”

In “Smart Detection“, Enable the Motion Detection Tracking

If your NVR firmware is earlier than 3.1.4.4, or your camera version is older than 3.6.28; you need to upgrade your camera/ NVR to obtain the auto track feature.

1. Update your NVR version to 3.1.4.4 or higher

Online upgrade: make sure your system is getting online condition.

Right click your NVR mouse>System setting>System Admin>System upgrade, choose Online upgrade, check upgrade when download finished, click Start.

2. Download the camera firmware 3.6.28,

How to set home point for XMARTO Auto-Track PTZ cameras?

The XMARTO PTZ cameras have Auto-Track function. The Auto-Track is an AI feature that tracks activities and record.

It makes sure to record what happened even while you are not watching.

A concern comes along with the Auto-Track: would the camera track and view the wall or ground, and never come back to the entrance it was watching?

You can set a home point for the PTZ cameras. The camera will return to this key point after each track.

Follow below steps, you can set your default view point.

1. Set Home Point On APP

While viewing the camera in App, tap PTZ and use the joystick to move the camera to watch the spot you want. (such as an entrance)

Then tap Preset to enter preset menu.

In Preset menu, tap the + sign to add preset points.

The 1st preset point will be the home point.

The camera will return to this point after each track.

Tap the Edit sign, you can delete and change preset points, including the 1st home point.

2. Set Home Point in NVR Menu

If your camera is used with a NVR, you can also set the home point in NVR menu.

a) while viewing the camera on NVR screen, click the image of a camera, you will see a pop-out menu on bottom. Click PTZ control to enter PTZ menu.

b) In PTZ menu, use the joystick to move the camera to where you want. In preset type 1 and save. This point will be saved as preset #1.

c) Switch to Auto tracking menu, check Motion detection tracking and Home point, type 1 as the home point and Apply.

The camera will return to preset 1 after each tracking.

NOTE:

If your NVR does not have this Auto tracking menu, upgrade your NVR to latest version
If your NVR does not have this Auto tracking menu after the firmware upgrade, set the home point from mobile App.

How to replace my old NVR without pairing each camera again?

XMARTO’s long range WiFi security camera systems have been the best sellers on Amazon during 2015 – 2016.

Many customers’ security camera systems were runnning for 6-7 years, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

With that workload, some customers feel the necessity of replacing their old NVRs, or some of their old cameras.

Is there a way to swap the old NVR out without taking all cameras down for pairing?

The answer is affirmative.

As you may already know, the NVR itself is also a WiFi router.

The theory is simple: each time you replace your old WiFi router, you only need to set your new WiFi hotspot name and WiFi password exactly the same as before, your devices will automatically reconnect. Same thing for XMARTO NVRs.

Here are the steps replacing your old NVRs without re-pairing all cameras:

Step 1: Record the WiFi information of your old NVR.

As showed in below image, in your old NVR’s menu, navigate to System Setting – Network setting – WiFi setting, you will see the ESSID and password information, which is the WiFi name and WiFi password of this NVR. Take a photo to record this information.

Step 2: Revise your new NVR WiFi information to the same as old NVR’s.

Swap your old NVR out and plug your new NVR, enter the same WiFi setting. Revise the new NVR’s ESSID & password to exactly the same as on the old NVR.

Step 3: Find your cameras back

With the old WiFi information on the new NVR, your cameras are connected with the new NVR.

Now you need add the cameras to your NVR channels.

In the NVR menu, right click – Camera Manage; click Search till you see your cameras listed in the above box. Then click ‘Add One’ to add the cameras to NVR channels.

Your cameras will be added to the channels in the below box and work as before.

FAQ

My old NVR is still working fine. Should I upgrade it to a newer one?

Not necessarily. As long as they are working fine. You don’t have to upgrade the NVR, or the camera.

2. I plan to add the latest XMARTO PTZ camera, or solar cameras to my old system. Is it compatible?

XMARTO products are compatible with each other. But if your NVR is 960p or 1080p, they are not capable to take in the new 3MP & 5MP cameras.

Please check your NVR’s version in System admin. If you have version 3.0+, you can feel free to add latest cameras. If your NVR version is earlier than 3.0, please consider to upgrade your NVR (hardware) to the latest model.

3. What if my old NVR does not turn on and I cannot enter the menu?

Please try to open the old NVR, unplug the 2 cables on hard drive, see if you can enter the menu to record old WiFi information.

If you cannot enter the old NVR’s menu to find WiFi info, you will need to pair your cameras to the new NVR one by one. Here is how to,

“Incorrect password” while viewing XMARTO cameras from App

The XMARTO home security systems have 2-layer of security password.

1. The NVR device password (AKA the admin password)

Each time you access the NVR menu, it requires the admin password. Without a device password, users will be locked out.

Device admin password can be set when you follow the 1st time initial setup, or at any time in System setting – System admin – User.

This is very important and we suggest you to set and remember your admin password at 1st time.

This device password (device lock) is local and it locks access to your NVR, no matter whether your NVR has Internet connection or not.

2. App login password

Like using any Internet service, using WallPixel App requires you to create an user account.

Your App user account is normally an email address or a phone number; and the password is the code protecting your user account.

If you don’t have a WallPixel App user account, tap Register to create an user account.

The App user account is different from your device admin password. They are 2 sets of combinations.

The NVR admin password is a local password locking your NVR; the App user account password is an Internet password locking access to your WallPixel user account.

3. The connection

The connection between App user account and the NVR/ camera is based on Cloud ID.

The Cloud ID is an unique ID number of a XMARTO NVR or camera. On most NVRs/ cameras, you can find a QR code indicating the device’s Cloud ID. You can also find the Cloud ID on NVR screen’s below right corner.

To access the Cloud ID corresponding device, you need to provide the device password. Without the password, you will be locked out.

As advised in the manual, when you add the NVR/ Camera to the App, you are lead to provide the admin password,

The password here refers to the NVR/ camera’s admin password, not the App user password.

Provide your admin password, you will be able to view the cameras remotely from the App.

If you are an authorized user by the administrator, provide your user name and your password.

4. Update device password

If you’ve changed your admin password lately, you need to update it to the App.

A few important tips

The default password
If you skip setting a password for your NVR or camera, then the default password is empty.
You leave the password area empty and tap next to view the cameras or access the menu.

That also means, theoretically anyone who knows your Cloud ID can access the NVR/ camera. (although no one will know your Cloud ID unless you show them). So it is strongly suggested to set an admin password; as soon as you start to use the XMARTO NVR/ camera.

2. Secondary users

If you are running a store, an office etc; in the System setting – System admin – User setting, you can add a few users with secondary permissions.

Then give those secondary user accounts to your employees. For example, you added user “JohnWayne” with password “batman”.

When he try to access the NVR’s screen, he needs to change the username from “admin” to “JohnWayne”, then enter password “batman” to access the NVR menu.

Same thing in the App. Obviously John Wayne needs to create his own App user account with his own email or phone #.

Then when he add the NVR system or camera to App, he input or scan the Cloud ID, provide his own NVR/Camera access combination, to access the NVR/ camera, with your nominated permissions only.

3. That sounds way too complicated. “I’d simply let my families know my Cloud ID and admin password so they can view”

Not suggested. Logically, the WallPixel Cloud will take the 1st App user who added the Cloud ID as the owner.

If you have a 2nd or 3rd user adding the same Cloud ID as admin, 1 or few of you may miss some features, such as the App notifications.

The correct way is to use the Sharing feature.

a) let your families download and install WallPixel App, then create his/ her own App user account.

b) in the App, tap sharing, set sharing perimissions and valid time. Then send the QR code to your families.

c) In WallPixel App, your families scan the QR codes to add the camera/ system. (no matter where they are)

4. “My XMARTO security system have 4 cameras and a NVR. Does that mean I have 5 Cloud IDs?”
No, when you use a XMARTO camera system, the App only takes the whole system as a single device; so it recognize only the NVR’s Cloud ID; and let you view 4 to 10 cameras simultaneously in App, just like what you see on the NVR’s screen.

Privacy tips

Does XMARTO know my device admin password?
No we don’t. The device password is a local password you set in the initial setup. We cannot know that.
If you forgot the password, the only way is to hard reset it.

The hard reset can be done only by yourself, with the hardware in hand.
Does XMARTO know my App user password?
No we don’t. Any App attempts to collect user’s password will not be approved by App Store or Google Play.
If you forgot the App user password, the only way is to tap “Forget password” and follow steps to reset password, or simply create another user account.
If someone hacks my App user account, what should I do?
That never happened. But if you believe someone hacked your App user account, the 1st thing to do is tap “Forget password” in App to reset your user password; or contact support@xmarto.com to know how-to hard reset your device password. Any of the 2 password reset will lock the access immediately.

For standalone cameras, please change the device password in device setting; or hold reset button to reset the camera and set it up again.
For NVR or NVR systems, the way of hard resetting password is not public. Please contact support team with your order # to learn how to reset NVR admin password.

Relax, it’s almost impossible to happen.
