This article describes the set of roles and associated permissions for Verkada Cameras.

• Permissions are set using roles, which define the level of access users and groups have to devices and settings within an organization and its sites/subsites.

• User permissions specify what tasks users can perform and what features users can access in Command.

• Site-level permissions define what access a particular user or group has to the cameras within the site. Site-level permissions are configured using roles.

Org-level roles

Organization-level roles are configured on a per-user basis. Groups cannot be used to set organization-level roles.

CP52-E PTZ permissions

The CP52-E PTZ camera permissions determine who can manage the Sentry Mode feature.

• Org Admin/Site Admin: Full access to controls and features, including Sentry Mode.

• Site Viewer: Full access to controls, but limited features and settings access (cannot enable, disable, or edit Sentry Mode settings, but can view settings).

• Live-Only: No access to controls or Sentry Mode.

• No Access: No access.

Permissions model (example)

Here’s a simple example of a permissions model that a typical organization with several sites and users may employ:

Users and their required level of access

• Dean of Students—Ability to view all cameras in the College University organization

• IT Director—Ability to view and edit all cameras in the College University organization

• Librarian—Ability to view cameras in the Library subsite

• Cafeteria Manager—Ability to view cameras in the Cafeteria subsite

• South campus security officer—Ability to view live streams in the South Campus site (and its subsite)

Permissions each user should be assigned

• Dean of Students—Organization member and Site Viewer on all sites

• IT Director—Organization Admin and Site Admin on all sites

• Librarian—Organization member and Site Viewer on the Library subsite

• Cafeteria Manager—Organization member and Site Viewer on the Cafeteria subsite

• South campus security officer—Organization member and Live-Only Viewer on the South Campus site

Note: Org Admin permissions are unrelated to site/subsite permissions. When you are an Org Admin, it does not mean you automatically get Site Admin permissions. However, as an Org Admin, you can configure yourself as a Site Admin for any site.

Set Org Admin permissions

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Users.

3.Select the user who you want to grant Org Admin permissions.

4.Click the User Actions dropdown and select Grant Org Admin.

5.When prompted to confirm, click Confirm.

Revoke Org Admin permissions

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Users.

3.Click the User Actions dropdown and select Revoke Org Admin.

4.When prompted to confirm, click Confirm.

Set site and subsite permissions

You can set site and subsite permissions by adding a user, a group, or by existing users and groups.

Add a user

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Users.

3.At the top right, click Add User.

4.On Add User:

1.Enter the user’s first name, last name, and email address.

2.(Optional) Check the Grant Organization Admin box to give Org Admin permissions.

3.Click Assign Groups to add them to one or more existing groups,

4.Click Add.

5.Under Site Roles, click Manage Roles and grant the user the desired role for each site and subsite.

Add a group

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Groups.

3.At the top right, click Create Group.

4.On Create Group, enter the group’s name, and click Create.

5.On Add Members to this Group, check the box next to the members you want to add to the group and click Add.

6.On the new group page, at the top, click Site Roles > Assign Roles.

7.On Assign Roles:

1.Under the Role column, select the permission level you want to assign for each site and subsite.

2.Click Save.

Existing users and groups

You can set the site and subsite permissions for existing users and groups by managing the user roles or the sites.

Manage roles

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, scroll down to and select Users or Groups.

3.Select the desired user or group.

4.At the top right, click Manage Roles.

5.On Manage Roles:

1.Grant the desired site and subsite roles.

2.Click Save.

Manage sites

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2.At the top right of Cameras, click Manage Sites.

3.Select the desired site to manage and in the right pane, click Manage Permissions.

4.Grant the desired roles for users and groups.

Customize roles and permissions

Verkada’s Roles & Permissions Customization feature enables Org Admins the ability to add or remove certain permissions from Site Admins and Site Viewers more granularly. Some organizations may want to limit or extend the permissions of the members of their organization based on their needs. Currently, we allow customization of permissions related to archives, link sharing, and user management.

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.At the top, select Org Settings > Roles & Permissions Customization.

3.Click Edit to configure the camera permissions that you want to grant to different roles.

4.Click Save when you’ve completed your settings.

You should see the current permissions that Site Viewers and Site Admins have, adjust these permissions, or click Restore Default Settings to return to the default if desired. Changes apply to all Site Admins and Site Viewers in the org.

• Permissions are set using roles, which define the level of access users and groups have to devices and settings within an organization and its sites/subsites.

• User permissions specify what tasks users can perform and what features users can access in Command.

• Site-level permissions define what access a particular user or group has to the cameras within the site. Site-level permissions are configured using roles.

• Organization permissions pertain to user management (the ability to access an organization, invite users to an organization.

Note: Because organization, access control, and site permissions serve different purposes, they are separate. However, users need to have permissions set for these levels to have full use of Command.

Permission levels

Permissions are set at the following levels:

Level	Permissions
Organization	All users added to the organization have the ability to log in to the Command organization. Only those users designated as an Organization Admin (Org Admin) can invite/delete other users, create sites, and modify all permissions.
Site	Site-level permissions define what access a particular user or group has to the cameras within the site. Site-level permissions are configured using roles (see below).
Subsite	Subsite permissions are no different from site-level permissions. The only difference is that subsites inherit the permissions of the subsites and parent sites above them.
Roles	There are 4 levels of access that a user or group can have to a site or subsite: • Site Admin: Permits users to view cameras, add cameras, archive and share video, change camera settings, create and delete archived videos, take snapshots, and edit site permissions. • Site Viewer: Permits users to view cameras, create archived videos, and take snapshots. • Live-Only Viewer: Permits users to only view camera live streams (no access to historical video, archives, or live link sharing). • No Access: Users have no access to the site or subsite’s camera live feeds, historical video, or archives.

Permissions considerations

• Sites and subsites do not inherit permissions from the organization (being an Org Admin does not automatically make you a Site Admin).

• Subsites inherit permissions from all subsites (and the ultimate parent site) above them.

• A user can be assigned to multiple groups. If permissions conflict, the user is always granted the highest role granted to them directly, or to one of the groups to which they belong. For example, if a user is assigned to a group which assigns the role Site Viewer for a particular site, but is also assigned to a group which assigns the role Site Admin for that same site, the user will be granted Site Admin permissions for that site.

• Permissions can always be upgraded, but never downgraded. For example, if a user is assigned to a group that assigns the role Site Viewer for a particular site, that user may be manually upgraded to Site Admin for that site. However, this user cannot be downgraded to a Live-Only Viewer (or any role below Site Viewer). A user’s role can only be downgraded if they are removed from the group which assigns the highest level of access.

Resolve Issues with Missing Cameras

When you log in to Verkada Command, you can only access cameras and video in organizations or sites where your user account has permissions.

Note: Even if you are an Org Admin, you still need to grant yourself permission to view all sites. Learn more about roles and permissions for cameras and Command.

If you log in to Command and cameras are missing or have disappeared, always check user permissions. The most common reason cameras are not visible is that your user account needs permissions to the site(s) where the cameras are configured.

Common reasons that can cause cameras to disappear

• An admin has moved the cameras into an organization or site where your user account does not have permissions.

• An admin has removed your user account from the organization or site where the cameras are located.

In either case, contact your Org Admin and ask that they check your user permissions to the desired organization or site.

Check permissions

If you are an Org Admin, you can check and correct your own permissions:

1.In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

2.Under Org Settings, select Users.

3.Select your email. Your user email should then be redirected to a list of the sites in your organization with your relevant permissions appear.

4.Click Manage Roles.

5.Next to each relevant site, set the correct permissions.

Resolve Issues with Night Mode

Common issues with IR and Night Mode with steps to resolve them

Each Verkada camera has night vision capabilities, using a sensor to detect low-light situations. When external lighting is low, the camera switches to night mode and records in black and white, using infrared (IR) LEDs to illuminate the environment. If the IR is emitted improperly through the dome or reflected into the lens, it negatively impacts image quality.

Common night mode issues

It is imperative that the dome remain free of debris and the camera is installed properly to achieve the best image quality. When viewing footage in night mode if the footage appears obscured it is most likely the result of one of the following scenarios:

• External occlusion

• Internal reflection

• Dust or debris on the dome

• Fingerprints on the dome

• Condensation/moisture/foggy

If you run into any of these scenarios the camera lens and dome will need to be cleaned. See Clean Your Verkada Dome Camera for more information.

Camera always in night mode

If your camera is always in night mode even where there is sufficient light in the environment the lux (light) value may need to be adjusted. If this is the case, reach out to Verkada Support for further assistance.

Environmental obstruction

If the camera is mounted too close to a wall, ledge, or light source, the image quality may be degraded due to IR reflection.

Recommendation. Ensure that cameras are mounted sufficiently far away from surfaces that may cause the IRs to reflect, such as light sources.

IR obstruction

If a first-generation Dome camera (D30 or D50) is operating in night mode when there is plenty of light, the IR sensor is likely obstructed by the camera housing.

To fix the obstructed light sensor, physically rotate the lens barrel assembly 180° so the sensor and IRs are visible through the camera case.

Note: After rotating the lens barrel, the camera orientation may need to be changed in Command.

New Hikvision Firmwares 2024, Hikvision regularly updates the firmware in our products to resolve potential issues and keep your system running smoothly. Below, you can find guidance on how to update your system accordingly.

By downloading the firmware from this web page you are agreeing to Hikvision’s Software User License Agreement. Please be aware that Hikvision products are region-specific and regionally supported. If you have purchased your Hikvision products from an online source or unauthorized distributor, they may not be compatible with the North American region’s firmware and are considered to be “gray market” product. If your camera has “CH” in the serial number, you are most likely using a “gray market” product.

Updating the firmware from this site can lead to several complications in those cameras, up to and including camera failure. Restoring a “gray market” product to its original condition is a factory process and will result in a Chinese interface. As Hikvision warranty is void in this case, you must rely on the dealer for any service, support, and warranty of the “gray market” product. If you have any questions or concerns about the official status of your Hikvision distributor, please contact Hikvision USA Customer Service at cust.usa@hikvision.com.

Upgrade Device Firmware

For a device added via IP/Domain, its new version can be detected by the Mobile Client. Once detected, you can upgrade the device to its latest version.

1.Enter the Device Information page.

• On the device list page, if the page is in the list mode, swipe the device name to the left and tap .

• On the device list page, If the page is in thumbnail mode, tap the device name or tap .

• On the Live View page. Tap and then tap Settings.

For details about how to enter the Live View page, see Start and Stop Live View.

2.Tap > Device Version to enter the Device Version page.

3.Tap Upgrade and then tap UPGRADE on the pop-up window.

The Mobile Client will download the upgrade file first and then start upgrading the device.

Note:

You can also enable the Mobile Client to automatically download the upgrade file in Wi-Fi networks once a new device version is detected. For details, see Auto-Download Upgrade File.

UPDATING FIRMWARE

Hikvision regularly updates the firmware in our products to resolve potential issues and keep your system running smoothly. Below, you can find guidance on how to update your system accordingly.

Updating Hikvision IP Camera Firmware

To upgrade the firmware of a Hikvision IP camera, please follow the steps below:

1.Locate the appropriate firmware by clicking this link

2.Click on the firmware, then click download.

3.Agree to the license terms and conditions when prompted.

4.Locate the downloaded firmware file (this typically will be in the default download folder, unless prompted for a download location, then choose Desktop) and extract it by right-clicking on the file and selecting extract all or unzip. When prompted for an extract location, choose Desktop to extract the final file to. A file labeled DIGICAP will appear on the desktop.

5.After the file is extracted, log into the camera using Internet Explorer or Firefox web browsers. If prompted to install the plugin (or to allow the plugin to run), follow the prompt to proceed with the upgrade procedure.

6.Log into the camera using the administrator username and password, then go to the Configuration tab. In this tab, go to Basic Configuration then System, and then click on the Maintenance tab.

7.On the bottom of the page under Remote Upgrade, press the Browse button to locate and choose the firmware file, which was previously saved on the Desktop. After selecting the file, click Open, then click Upgrade.

8.The camera will display a prompt that a reboot is necessary to complete the upgrade. Click OK. The camera will reboot when the firmware is successfully upgraded.

Upgrading Hikvision DVR/NVR Firmware

To upgrade the firmware of a Hikvision DVR or NVR, please follow the steps below:

1.Insert a USB flash drive into the computer’s USB port (Please note that the USB flash drive does not need to be empty; it may contain other files and documents).

2.Locate the appropriate firmware by clicking this link

3.Click on the firmware, then click download.

4.Agree to the license terms and conditions when prompted.

5.Locate the downloaded firmware file (this typically will be in the default download folder, unless prompted for a download location, then choose Desktop) and extract it by right-clicking on the file and selecting extract all or unzip. When prompted for an extract location, choose the USB flash drive (typically labeled by letters E, F and so on) to extract the final file to. A file labeled DIGICAP will appear in the USB flash drive.

6.After the firmware has been extracted (unzipped), remove the USB flash drive from the computer and insert it into one of the available USB ports on the DVR/NVR unit.

7.On the DVR/NVR, go to the Main Menu, and then go to Maintenance.

8.From the sub-menus on the left click Upgrade. This will display the content of the USB flash drive.

9.Choose the DIGICAP file and press Upgrade.

10.An information window will pop up prompting that the unit will reboot after the upgrade is complete. Click YES.

11.To verify that the firmware has been upgraded, after the DVR/NVR is rebooted, go to the Main Menu, and then go to System Information. The current firmware version will be displayed.

How do I get Firmware Updates for my Hikvision Gear?

Use the search bar to try and find your product. Firmware updates are usually available on the product page.

IF YOU BOUGHT EQUIPMENT FROM US:

You will need to contact us if you can’t find your camera listed or if you require firmware for your NVR / DVR.
You will need to also provide the full serial number of the device as well as your current firmware.
This is to ensure upgrades are done properly. In some instances middlle firmware is required before upgrading to the latest version.

We do not recommend doing intercom firmware upgrades. Please check with us if there is any doubt.

How do I update Hikvision firmware remotely for my TetherX installation?

If your system was installed by one of our security installation partners please contact them to update your cameras. If you would like to update your Hikvision devices yourself please follow the guide below.

1.Download the latest Hikvision firmware by visiting the Hikvision Downloads Page

Note: the UK firmware is different from the US firmware. For UK firmware, please follow use the UK Downloads page.

2.Extract the firmware archive, it should contain the file: digicap.dav

3.Create a tunnel into your Hikvision device.

How to create a tunnel?

4.Login to your Hikvision device and navigate to “Configuration” then “Maintenance”.

5.At the bottom of the page under the ‘Upgrade’ header, press on “Browse”

6.Use the file navigator window that pops up to select the digicap.dav file you downloaded earlier

7.Click on ‘Upgrade’

The actual upgrade will take up to 10 minutes and the device will automatically reboot at the end of the upgrade process.

Steps to Change Secure Series Camera Compression to H.264

The below steps are needed in order to connect your camera to the Secure 4ch NVR attached with your order. Please log into camera first, default username is “admin” and default password are “1234567u”, from there it will prompt you to change, please do so and follow below steps. If you do not do this first, the camera will not connect to the NVR.

• Log into camera with default credentials

• Change password

• Click on CONFIGURATION across top

• Click STREAM on the left

• Click BASE STREAM below

• You will see STREAM ID and VIDEO ENCODE TYPE. For STREAM ID 1 change the VIDEO ENCODE TYPE TO H.264 and hit APPLY.

• Then change STREAM ID to 2, change VIDEO ENCODE TYPE TO H.264 and hit APPLY.

• Then change STREAM ID to 3, change VIDEO ENCODE TYPE TO H.264 and hit APPLY.

SEC-BODYTEMPCAM1 Camera Configuration Guide

**Please Note: Cameras Default IP address is 192.168.1.121. IP Utility can be downloaded off our website here

• Log into the cameras web interface on Internet Explorer (IE), default username is “admin” and default password are “1234567u”. Make sure to download the new plugin.

Note: close ALL browser tabs while installing the plugin.

• Parameter Configuration (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Parameter Configure)

◦ Enable face detection

◦ Draw the area according to the real scenario, there is a maximum of 8 areas supported. We usually use one detection area to cover where people could potentially appear in, recommended distance is 9 to 16 feet (3-5 meters) for capturing.

• Leave the Display Trace Info at “Mode 1”

• Show Detection Area, can turn On or Off

• For Confidence Coefficient, we suggest keeping the default value (Mid). It’s for the face matching level with the built-in algorithm.

• Area ID is for the selected areas if you choose more then one main area, up to 8 totals. We suggest keeping this at one and focusing on the main point of entrance.

• For Face Pixel Minimum and Maximum, we suggest keeping the default value (70/1000). Only faces in this range will be detected.

• There are two different Snapshot Modes:

◦ Timing: ‘upload interval’ is associated with ‘timing’, camera will upload one picture every 5 seconds (Suggested).

◦ Optical: ‘snapshot count’ is associated with ‘optical’, camera will upload the best face picture in 5 seconds.

• For Upload Image Interval we suggest leaving at 5 seconds (1-10 second range).

• For Yaw Degree, Tilt Degree, Pitch Degree and OSD Overlay Snapshot, we suggest keeping as default.

• FTP Upload Image Matting and FTP Upload Whole Image are if you are using the camera as a standalone device, no CMS or NVR, and wish to save the facial snaps to an FTP.

• Temperature Parameters

• Enable this field and leave all as DEFAULT except LENGTH UNIT and MOUNT DISTANCE

◦ IF YOU SWITCH TO FAHRENHEIT THE FIELDS STILL STAY AS DEFAULT (Except Length/Mount Distance, mentioned above)

◦ DEPENDING ON THE SELECTION OF “LENGTH UNIT” (METERS/FEET), ALL DISTANCE FIELDS WILL BE CONSIDERED IN THOSE UNITS!

[IMPORTANT] Set the mount distance according to the real installation, whose value should be the horizontal distance from the detection area to the camera.

Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

• Face Alarm Linkage

IF SWITCHED TO FAHRENHEIT YOU MUST ADJUST “ALARM TEMPERATURE”, 99.5-100.5F (Default Celsius is 37.30)[

• [IMPORTANT] Thermal Mapping (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Thermal Mapping)

◦ This step is mainly for matching the thermal image with the visible image, which can ensure the measurement accuracy. The Black Body device (Infrared Calibrator) MUST be in the Field of View of the thermal image. The thermal image is a FIXED LENS and is a smaller field of view then the standard image.

• There are eight groups of ID, and each group ID contains three points. If using One area, then you do not have to set groups 2-8.

• Pick out three points that you can clearly see in the thermal image, mark them with point1, point2 and point3.

• Find the three locations of the three points in the visible image and mark them with the same point numbers associated with those in thermal image.

◦ Note: Suggested to choose three points far away from one another, so the triangle of can cover 70% of the image.

• Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

• Test if the rectangle can correctly surround the face, and perfect it by adjusting the three points.

• Thermal calibration (Configuration/Human Thermometer/Thermal Calibration)

• Install the blackbody properly where the camera can see it (within the thermal image). The blackbody needs to be powered on for at least 20 mins to reach to a stable temperature.

◦ The Infrared Calibrator will ALWAYS display in CELSIUS; the stable temperature is ~40C

• Enable.

• If you turn on ‘Display Area Info’, the blackbody (Infrared Calibrator) will also be shown with temperature on thermal image.

◦ Draw box around your calibrator

• Target Temperature: If using Celsius leave as 40C, if using Fahrenheit change to 104F (Default)

• For Distance, put the real installation distance between the camera and Black Body (Infrared Calibrator). No more then 9-16 feet (3-5 meters). Distance is in Meters or Feet, depending what you selected under the Parameter Config menu.

• Keep the ‘Emission Rate’ as the default value.

• Hit ‘apply’ to save the settings.

SEC BODYTEMPCAM1 camera run off of POE output?

Yes it is, safe.

What are the minimum specs required to handle SEC-BODYTEMPCAM1?

For a single camera: i7 processing, at least 8GB of RAM.

From where is the temperature being scanned?

From a point in the middle of the forehead, the temperature is scanned, above the nose and in-between the eyes. If the camera captures a profile image it is using the skin around the earhole for temperature. It is important to note that what is being scanned is skin temperature and not core temperature.

Should people be screened prior to entry?

The camera needs to be set within a controlled environment and cannot be installed outside. The calibrator isn’t weatherproof (IP66) and airflow, whether inside or out, could throw off the camera’s calibration.

If you need to screen people before entering the building, you would need to set up an enclosed tent to scan individuals. The camera can operate in both extreme heat and cold as long as no airflow would skew the results. If an individual is outside for an extended period, in the intense heat or cold without the opportunity to reregulate their temperature, the results might be slightly off, its recommended to wait 20-30 seconds before reading.

Need to wait when coming from outside for accurate reading?

Most of the time, there will not be any accuracy issues when getting scanned. If you have been out in the extreme heat or cold for an extended time you may want someone to wait roughly 30 seconds for their body to adjust to the environment. The camera is taking the skin temperature, which the human body keeps in check very efficiently.

What is your advice for poorly controlled environments?

If you are going to invest in the product, you will also need to invest in creating a controlled environment. If the environment is not controlled, you will not have accuracy.

What effects an individuals’ temperature?

An individuals’ temperature will not read higher based on wearing a darker colored cap or clothing. The temperature scanned is the skin. The camera is using the face detection analytic to detect a human face then apply the algorithm built into the camera to display a temperature that is read from the epidermis of the forehead, or if it is a profile picture captured, the skin around the earhole is used.

If you’re wearing a mask, glasses, hood, hat, or all combined, if those two focal points aren’t blocked, then the camera can give a temperature reading.

Depending on the type of hat, for example, a forwards facing baseball cap pulled down entirely over the forehead can cause an individual not to be scanned. Another factor that could affect the scan is how the camera is mounted. The cameras must not be mounted higher than 8-feet. If the camera is wall-mounted and facing on a downward angle where a hat or hardhat is blocking the forehead, a solution would be to mount the cameras on a tripod to get a more direct shot.

As for individuals who have been out in the extreme heat or cold for an extended time you may want to wait about 30 seconds for their body to adjust to the environment. The camera is taking the skin temperature, which the human body keeps in check very efficiently.

Two real-life examples of cold and hot temperatures:

In New York, the temperatures were averaging 45 degrees, and we had someone whose drive into work took about 20 minutes. While driving, they had the window rolled down and the air continually blowing into their face. They would walk from their car to the office and could feel their skin was cold. When walking into the office, they would get scanned, and their temperature would be between 96.9 and 97 Degrees. After waiting for about 60 seconds, they would rescan, and their temperature would average the mid 97 degrees.

In Arizona, where the temperature was over 100 degrees, we found that when someone was outside for a while, a cooling down about 20-30 seconds was necessary. Initially, their temperature registered at about 102, but after 20 seconds, it stabilized and showed their baseline temperature.

Something to keep in mind is that everyone is different. Two people who are excessively overheated may vary slightly in how fast their bodies regulated their temperature. One person might take about 10 seconds, while another person might take about 45 seconds. We are finding that the average is about 20-30 seconds for someone to regulate back to their baseline skin temperature.

Does the subject have to face the camera?

The subjects face must hit the 7% FOV (Field of View) mark of the camera to get an accurate reading. It is looking for two measurement points. The first point is in the middle of the forehead, roughly the area in-between the two eyes, near the nose, and if it captures a profile image, it is looking for the skin around the ear hole. The person has to be walking into the view of the camera and not away.

What is the ETA on the Fahrenheit firmware fix for US sites?

The firmware is currently available, giving the option for Fahrenheit or Celsius. The product leaves our warehouse with this latest firmware update, and the product comes defaulted to Fahrenheit & Distance comes defaulted to Feet with the option for metric units.

What VMS’s are supported?

As of today 4/29/20, we know Axxon and EXACT are working on an integration. Other companies that have reached out but are not 100% confirmed yet. The SDK is available upon request but each is responsible for their integration.

Without an NVR, will images be stored?

No. The camera will not store any images.

Will the camera do face recognition without an NVR or computer?

The camera only does face detection. The CMS is what handles Facial Recognition if you aren’t running the CMS, face images will not be saved.

Will the camera track a person?

Tracking is based on facial detection. As soon as the 7% mark is met (7% is the required amount to get a temperature), it will read the face detection analytic and then apply the algorithm for the temperature display.

Where are these cameras made?

The cameras are manufactured in China but are not affiliated with and are not OEM made products from Hikvision or Dahua.

Can the camera just be connected to a LAN that has the NVR on it?

Yes, it can be stand alone.

What is the accuracy of the camera?

The accuracy of the camera is 0.54 Degrees Fahrenheit / 0.3 Degrees Celsius.

Is this camera FDA approved for taking Body Temperature readings?

We are currently in the process of working on our 510k Certificate approval.

Will the camera pick up the temp of a person who is walking away?

No. it is not designed to work this way. Depending on the angle, it might be able to capture a profile and on occasion provide a temperature.

Is there a max mounting height from the floor?

Yes, you may not exceed 8 feet from the floor when installing on a wall or ceiling mount.

How do you calibrate the calibrator?

Let the calibrator run for about 15-20 minutes. On the back panel of the calibrator, you will see a display. The display will be in Celsius regardless of the settings in the camera and CMS. Once the screen hits the 40-40.2 degrees, the unit has been calibrated.

Can you set the camera and calibrator to shoot through a glass door?

No, the camera and calibrator must be in sight of one another and cannot see through a glass window or door. There can be no glass between the devices and the subject.

How far away does the calibrator need to be from the camera?

The camera and calibrator must be in view of each other and must not exceed 16 Feet. The recommended distance is 7-16ft. and the calibrator must be in the field of view of the THERMAL image

Does each camera require its own calibrator?

Yes, each camera requires its own calibrator. You cannot use two cameras with a single calibrator. The temperatures will not be accurate.

Can you connect the CMS to a customer’s network?

Yes, the CMS can be connected to a customer’s pc and also run on a pc that is not on the network.

What does CMS stand for?

How many users can log into the CMS simultaneously?

This is the free IP utility for the Secure Series for those using a PC. It is used to find IP Cameras on the network and change the IP info (IP Address, Sub-Net, Default Gateway) of those devices. Version v1.9.9

If you are using a computer, will it record video without an NVR?

No, the closest workaround is to add the camera to the CMS. The CMS saves snapshots based on facial recognition. Please keep in mind that if the CMS doesn’t see specific points of a face to realize its a face (such as if the person is partially covered), you may still get a temperature read, but the face snap may not save. The CMS is only saving snapshots, not video.

How to use a cloud feature in the NVR menu?

The cloud feature will be implemented in the future. Once it is fully functional, we will have additional information posted!

How many hours of video can be stored on the NVR?

That will depend on the size of the drive you put in the unit and the number of cameras you have installed. The standard 4-channel unit can house a single hard drive bay, and can use drives ranging from 1-10 Terabytes.

Can the NVR do the job of counting and temperature notification?

No.

Will camera send notifications automatically without an NVR?

If the camera is networked, email notifications can be sent out, even without an NVR. This will include a snapshot with the temperature for individuals who are above the threshold set. The camera also has two alarm outputs that can be utilized.

To use the app, InVid LIVE CMS, the camera would need to be added to the CMS, and the CMS would have to be kept open and running on a PC. If a temperature over the threshold is registered, it will send a push notification to the app.

Is the NVR required for sending email alerts?

No, the camera can send out email alerts. The 4/8/16 Channel NVR does not have the ability to send out email alerts while the 32 channel unit does, for over temperatures.

What type of notifications are triggered by high temp?

You can have an email notification with a snapshot of the individual and temperature range and also the option of one or two sirens if the temperature is above the threshold.

Are there any onboard relays that could be triggered to send an alert

Yes, the camera has 2-alarm outputs. Power is needed, 12/24 volt AC/DC. Settings within the camera can be configured to trigger an alert when a temperature is over the threshold.

Can the system send email and text alarms?

The system can send emails, it includes the picture of the scene with the temperature reading. Currently, there are no text alarms, but it is something we are looking at trying to implement.

Audible alarm once it detects a high temp?

The camera has two notification functions. The first is an email notification. The second is an alarm output trigger. The CMS that links to the camera does have an audible alarm if your computer is set up for sound.

Recommended Antenna Installation Methods

Your antenna needs will vary depending on the setup of your camera system, the number of cameras that require range extension, and the number of channels on your wireless receiver. Review the scenarios below to ensure you have the correct antenna and installation method to meet your needs.

Combining Accessory Antennas

If you have installed your accessory antenna according to the recommended installation methods and would like to enhance wireless signal strength even further, you may add an additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) directly to a camera. The additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna can be used with a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna or with an Omni-Directional Antenna attached to the receiver.

Scenario 1: Extend the range of one camera paired to a single antenna receiver

To extend the range of one camera connected to a single channel receiver, use the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9).

The Directional Wireless Panel Antenna can be connected in two configurations.

Configuration 1. Connect the antenna directly to the camera

Configuration 2. Connect the antenna directly to the wireless receiver

REQUIREMENT: The antenna connects using an SMA cable and replaces the existing antenna on either the camera or wireless receiver. Check www.lorextechnology.com/compatibility to determine if your product is compatible with the antennas.

Scenario 2: Extend the range of one camera paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of one camera connected to a multi-channel receiver, use the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9). Connect the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the camera.

Scenario 3: Extend the range of select cameras paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of select cameras on a multi-channel receiver, use the Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8).

Connect the Omni-Directional Antenna to one of the antenna ports on the wireless receiver.

REMINDER: Each antenna port on a dual antenna receiver is associated with specific camera channels. One antenna communicates with odd numbered channels (1, 3, and 5), while the other antenna communicates with even numbered channels (2, 4, and 6). See the table below for dual antenna channel configurations.

If you connect the Omni-Directional Antenna to an antenna port and your wireless signal does not improve, try switching the Omni-Directional Antenna to the other antenna port or pairing your camera to a different camera channel.

Scenario 4: Extend the range of all cameras paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of all cameras on a dual antenna receiver, connect an Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to each antenna port on the receiver.

IMPORTANT: Two Omni-Directional Antennas are required to accommodate this setup.

Combination 1: Combine two Directional Wireless Panel Antennas

If you are using a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) to enhance the signal of a single camera with a single channel receiver, you can use an additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna to further enhance the wireless signal.

Connect one Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the camera and one Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the wireless receiver. To maximize signal strength, it is recommended to aim the two antennas directly at each other with a clear line-of-sight.

Combination 2: Combine a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna with an Omni-Directional Antenna

If you are using an Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to enhance the signal of multiple cameras, you can further enhance the signal of a specific camera by connecting a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) directly to the camera.

A clear line-of-sight between the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna and the Omni-Directional Antenna is recommended to maximize signal strength.

Lorex SD Pro App: Changing / resetting the password

If the password for the Lorex SD Pro app to view the Wireless Home Monitor is lost or forgotten it will need to be reset.

To reset the Lorex SD Pro app password:

1.Ensure that your Wireless Home Monitor is connected to a network router using the included Ethernet cable.

2.On the Wireless Home Monitor tap the Menu icon ().

3.Use the joystick to select Settings > Network > Reset Password.

4.Select Yes to confirm.

5.Tap the Menu icon () repeatedly until all the menus are closed.

6.Launch the SD Pro app and enter the default password. Refer to your user manual for your default password. You will be prompted to create a new password.

Lorex SD Pro App: Setting up Wireless Home Monitor remote access

You can access and view wireless cameras from a Wireless Home Monitor system using an iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet using the Lorex SD Pro app. It is available at the App Store or Google Play Store.

Prerequisites:

• Ensure that you have completed initial set up of your Wireless Home Monitor system.

• Ensure you have at least one camera paired with your monitor. Click here for instructions on how to pair your camera.

• Install the Lorex SD Pro app on your smartphone or tablet.

• The following instructions are displayed using an Android operating system

To set up the mobile application:

1.Launch the Lorex SD Pro app on your smartphone or tablet.

2.Tap Click here to add device.

3.On the Add Device window, tap Scan to scan the QR code on the back of the monitor or enter the UID printed near the QR code on the back of the monitor.

4.Enter a name and password of your choice for the monitor.

REMINDER: If using the default password, you may be prompted to create a new password.

5.Tap Save.

The system will be displayed in the Device Manager as Online.

LW2700 Wireless Home Monitor: Included cables and accessories

LW2700 Series Wireless Home Monitors support wireless cameras using a wireless signal. They do not have an internal battery and require a connection to a power source. Refer to your user manual for model specific information on cables and accessories. Click here for downloads and documentation for your product.

Most wireless home monitors include the following cable connections and accessories when purchased:

• A monitor power adapter used to connect the monitor to a power source.

• A camera power connector / adapter used to connect the wireless cameras to a power source.

• Units that support remote access require a wired connection from your monitor’s network port to your router via an Ethernet cable (included).

Network: Wireless camera Internet requirements

Standard wireless cameras that connect to a DVR / NVR, do not need access to the Internet to function. Stand-alone IP cameras do not require an Internet connection for basic functions, but an Internet connection is required for full functionality.

Security Cameras: Understanding Field of View (FOV)

Field of View (FOV) is the maximum observable area that is seen at any given moment through an optical device such as a camera lens. The coverage of the area can be measured using the horizontal and vertical distances to find the diagonal of the area in degrees. Mathematically, the FOV is calculated using the horizontal dimension of the sensor (h) and the Focal Length (F).

The Camera Lens, Sensor and Focal Length

Focal length (F) is the distance between the center of a lens and its sensor. The size of the lens is the aperture size.

These factors affect field of view. A narrower focal length captures more of the scene and displays a larger field of view. A wider focal length magnifies a scene and decreases the field of view. The higher the focal length value the lower the FOV.

Types of Camera Lenses

Fixed: a fixed camera focal length provides an Angular FOV which is permanently set and cannot be adjusted by the user. Varifocal: the camera focal length can be manually adjusted by the user. Generally, this is done manually with screws or dials. At Lorex we have motorized varifocal cameras that allow you to digitally zoom using your phone or NVR without losing details. These lenses provide flexibility and customization for your camera image needs.

The importance of Field of View

A wide angle lens or smaller lenses produce a greater field of view and captures more objects in a scene enhancing your ability to cover larger and wider areas such as foyers, parking lots or warehouses.

A narrow angle lens or larger lenses produce a smaller field of view; capturing a limited area, but the camera quality image improves in detail. These are designed to monitor a specific object, such as cash registers, entrances/exits, hallways or objects of value.

How to Calculate the FOV

To calculate the FOV requires the sensor size and the focal length of the lens: h = Sensor Size F = Focal Length of the Lens

FOV is represented by this equation: FOV = 2tan-1(h) / 2F

Example: h = 4.7mm F = 6mm FOV = 2tan-1(h) / 2F = 2tan-1(4.7)(12) = 2tan-1(0.39) = 2(21.4°) = 42.8°

Where do I place my Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Camera?

• Place the camera close to your Wi-Fi router as possible.

• Reduce the number of obstructive materials between the camera and the router or access point.

• Other electronic devices such as microwaves, TVs, cordless phones, and baby monitors can cause signal interference. It is recommended to install the camera as far away from these devices as possible.

How should I position my Lorex 2K Wi-Fi camera?

When mounting the camera on a wall, make sure of the following:

• Distance: Optimal accuracy for objects within 5ft to 50ft (1.5-15m).

• Angle: Angle the camera around 30°-60° down from the level position.

• Height: Install the camera between 8-16ft (2.5-5m) off of the ground.

Accuracy of person detection will be influenced by multiple factors, such as the person’s distance from the camera, the height of the person, and the height and angle of the camera. Night vision will also impact the accuracy and distance of detection.

How do I enable motion detection and person detection?

How do I enable Color Night Vision?

Does my device support WPA2 or WPA3?

Your device supports Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) which is the industry standard security protocol for Wi-Fi networks. WPA2 offers security against unauthorized access and data interception and is supported by most Wi-Fi routers including those that support both WPA2 and WPA3. It employs Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), an encryption mechanism, which secures communication between your camera and Wi-Fi network to keep transmitted data confidential. What is included in the box?

How to connect with Lorex App

1.Attach the provided power adapter to the camera. The device is ready for setup as soon as the status indicator is flashing green and chimes.
Note: Ensure your camera is plugged in and powered ON throughout the setup.
Optional: Attach the weatherproof extension cable to the camera.

2.Download the Lorex App by scanning the following QR Code. You can also visit Google Play or Apple Store to download Lorex App.

3.Open the Lorex App app and create an account or login with your credentials.

4.Tap icon to add a new device, then follow the in-app instructions to complete the device setup.

How to mount 2K Wi-Fi Camera to the wall

1.Place the mounting template onto the desired location.
Note: Ensure an outlet is nearby, and keep in mind the cable lengths.

2.Using a 15/64″ (6mm) drill bit, drill 2 holes over the triangle symbols on the template.
Optional: Drill 15/64″ (6mm) holes for the anchors.

3.Align the arrows of the mounting plate and template.
Using a screwdriver and provided screws, secure the mounting plate to the surface.

4.Align the arrows between wall mounting bracket and plate. Push the bracket in to install, then slide down to lock in place. You will hear a ‘click’ when the bracket is installed.

5.Attach the camera to the mounting bracket using the threaded insert at the rear of the camera. Rotate the camera clockwise until attached, then tighten into place with an adjustable nut.

6.Adjust the camera into desired angle.

Note:

• If the camera is not holding in place or difficult to adjust, unplug the camera and slide the bracket up to detach from the mounting plate.

• Tighten or loosen the 3 screws at the back of the mounting bracket to adjust accordingly.

• Repeat steps 4-6 to re-install.

How to mount 2K Wi-Fi Camera to the ceiling

1.Place the mounting template onto the desired location.
Note: Ensure an outlet is nearby, and keep in mind the cable lengths.

2.Using a 15/64″ (6mm) drill bit, drill 4 holes over the X symbols on the template.
Optional: Drill 15/64″ (6mm) holes for the anchors.

3.Remove the 4 pre-inserted plugs from the ceiling/table mounting bracket.

4.Attach the camera to the ceiling/table mounting bracket using the threaded insert at the rear of the camera. Rotate the camera clockwise until attached, then use the wrench to tighten the adjustable nut in place.

5.Place the bracket over the drilled holes. Using a screwdriver and the provided screws, secure the bracket to the surface.

6.Rotate the adjustable ring counter-clockwise to loosen and adjust the camera to the desired position, then tighten to secure.

Optional:

• Feed the camera cable through the hole at the base of the bracket or the mounting surface.

• Open the camera’s settings in the app and enable Image Rotation to flip the camera image. To configure camera settings, see Device Settings.

Wi-Fi Security Cameras – How to Read a MicroSD card

To view the contents of a MicroSD card on a laptop or computer, follow these steps:

1.Push gently against the MicroSD card to remove it from your device. Refer to the product documentation to find the MicroSD slot. Search for your product documentation by clicking here.

2.Insert the MicroSD card into the built-in MicroSD reader in your laptop or computer.

If your computer only has an SD reader, a MicroSD to SD adapter is required.

If your laptop or computer does not have an SD card reader built-in, you can purchase an external card reader that connects to your device via USB.

3.Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

4.Locate the SD card under This PC (Windows) or Computer (Mac). It may also be listed as SDXC or similar.

5.Click on the MicroSD card to access its contents and view the files and folders stored on it.

Wireless Home Monitor: Audio not working

If the audio is not working on your Wireless Home Monitor:

• Ensure that the protective film is removed from the camera lens.

• Ensure that the monitor volume is not muted. A mute icon () will be visible on the screen if the volume has been muted.

• Turn the monitor volume up using the volume buttons on the side of the unit. Location will vary by model. For exact location of volume buttons for your model, refer to your user manual. Click here for downloads and documentation for your product.

• The camera must be in Full Screen mode for audio. Tap the Channel Select icon () to switch between channels in Full Screen mode. Audio is disabled in Quad mode.

If audio is not working after increasing the volume and viewing in Full Screen mode, restore the system to default settings.

To restore your monitor to default settings:

CAUTION: Restoring to default settings will erase any setting input on the monitor. Your monitor will need to be reconfigured.

1.On the monitor tap the Menu icon ().

2.Use the joystick to select Settings > Default Settings.

3.Select Yes.

How to connect a LaView Saturn Series IP Camera to a Non-Saturn Series NVR

1.Connect the LaView Saturn IP Camera to a PoE switch or a Router (12V DC power supply is needed to connect to non-PoE switch or a router)

2.Install the IP Search Tool on your PC (https://www.laviewsecurity.com/files/saturn/Saturn%20Series%20General_IP%20Config%20Tool_Eng_V4.09.11.T.20180403.exe)

3.Activate the IP camera in the IP Search Tool

4.Modify the IP address by clicking on ‘Modify IP’

5a. If you are connecting the camera to the NVR PoE port, set up the Target IP to 192.168.254.xxx (xxx being a random number from 2-254), and Gateway to 192.168.254.1, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0. Then unplug the camera from the PoE switch or Router and connect it to the NVR using Cat5e cable.

5b. If you are connecting the camera via LAN, use DHCP or set up the IP address to your network range. For example: Target IP 192.168.0.217, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1

6. Go the NVR Menu => Camera => Camera.

7. Click on the channel which the camera is connected to (ie if the camera is connected to port 3 on the back of the NVR, click on channel 3). If you are connecting the camera via LAN, Click on any unused channel.

8. Change ‘Plug and Play’ to ‘Manual’ and enter the camera IP address (192.168.254.xxx or 192.168.0.217 as in previous example)

9. Change protocol to ONVIF and Management port is 80

10. Enter user name and password you set up when you activated the camera in step 3.

11.Apply the setting and wait for the camera to be connected.

12.Adjust video setting such as resolution and frame rate in Parameter menu.

LaView NVR Setup and User Guide

What should I do if I connect a LaView Saturn Camera to LV-N96, LV-N95, LV-N98 series NVR but only get 720P maximum resolution in main stream?

If you only get 720p in mainstream, it means the IP camera is set to H.265. Please use the following instruction to switch the camera to H.264 compression.

1.Connect the LaView Saturn Camera to a PoE switch or a Router (12V DC power supply is needed to connect to non-PoE switch or a router)

2.Install the VMS Client software on your PC (https://dahuawiki.com/images/Software/SmartPSS/General_SMARTPSS-FLIR_Win32_ChnEng_IS_V2.002.0000007.0.T.190122.zip)

3.Add the camera in the VMS Client Software

4.Go to Remote Configuration Menu

5.Go to Camera > Encode

6.Change the Encode Type to H.264H for both mainstream and substream

7.Save the setting

The system worked seamlessly until last week when it suddenly shut off and now won’t come back on

Would suggestion you follow the instruction below for troubleshooting,

1.Please ensure the cameras are connected, would suggest you to connect them directly to the PoE ports at the back of the system.

2.At the day time, try to cover the camera lens with your hands to see if there is a IR red light on the problematic cameras. And please also check if the camera goes hot when it is connected.

3.The camera appears not to get powe if there is no light and heat. We will need to check if it is the camera/port/cable issue.

1.At first, please switch the problematic camera to the workable PoE ports to test. You can also go to your PoE Configuration setting to check the power.

2.If it still doesn’t work with another port, please exchange the cable to check again. If possible, you can also add the camera to another system to confirm the problem.

Please contact our support team for further support if it does not help.

NVR is showing offline on Platform Access menu

In this case, please check the connection between the router and the NVR. Unplug and plug the ethernet cable to make sure the connection is solid.

Then go to the NVR system, enable ‘DHCP’, “Obtain DNS Server Address” and ‘Platform Access’, disable ‘DDNS’ and check if the status of the NVR changes from “Offline” to “Online”. Please see the pictures attached as a reference.

If it doesn’t work, please try to reboot the system to see if the issue can be resolved.

How to add Wi-Fi Cam (One PT ) to your NVR

1. Make sure One PT camera and the NVR are well connected to the same LAN.

2. Enter the camera management menu of NVR, select an unoccupied channel, and click the “Edit” icon to add the camera manually.

3. Make sure the adding method is manual, select the ONVIF protocol, enter the correct IPv4 Address and password of the camera.

(Please click the link below, download the IP Portal software to your PC/laptop. Then open it to locate the IP Address and the management port of your camera.)

Password Reset via XML files

Please find a 12V power adapter to power up your camera. And directly connect this camera to the router with an Ethernet cable if you need to reset the password via XML files.

Please power on the device (NVR/DVR/cameras) and connect it to the router via an ethernet cable first.

Then find the attachment and follow the instructions to export the XML file and send it to us. We will help to generate a key file and send it back to you to reset the password.

Kindly pay attention to the following when you export the file.

1. BOTH THE EXPORTED AND IMPORTED XML FILE IS VALID FOR ONLY 24 HOURS.

2. MAKE SURE THE DEVICE STAYS POWER ON AND ONLINE AFTER EXPORTING THE FILE.

Push Notification

If you would like to receive push notifications on your phone, please

1.make sure your system is added via P2P connection (QR code) or DDNS (port forwarding).

2.make sure you have correctly set up the motion detection settings on your system. You can refer to this video to double-check your motion detection section: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGeCbTmPY2U&t=188s (Motion detection: 5:22)

3.check “Notify Surveillance Center” box on your camera settings. Please remember to enable it for each of your camera and tap the “Apply” icon to save the changes.

4. enable “Alarm notification” setting on the LaView Connect/LaView Net app settings

5. allow the app to send you notifications on your phone settings

Setup Email Notification

Please refer to the instructions to set up the email notifications. Here I will take the Outlook account as an example. (Sorry that Gmail is not supported anymore, please use other email addresses to set it up.)

First, please go to the Outlook mailbox settings and enable POP option.

Secondly, please go to your camera management settings -> tap into ‘Settings’ -> find ‘Linakge Action’ to enable ‘Send Email’ for each of your camera.

Thirdly, please go to your system menu -> find ‘Configuration’ -> find ‘Network’ -> click the ‘Email’ option and enter the email information:

1.SMTP Server: outlook.office365.com

2.SMTP Port: 587

3.User name: your Outlook account

4.Password: your Outlook account password

5.Sender’s address & Receiver’s address: your Outlook account

After filling out the email information on this page, please tap the ‘Test’ icon to test if the system can send an email to your email. If it is set successfully, the system will show ‘Email test succeeded’ message as the following picture shown.

If you fail to set it up, the system will say ‘Failed to send test email’.

If you do meet this situation, please take a screenshot of your email settings and send it to LaView Support Team, so that we can further check your specific problem.

Set up DDNS

You may follow the steps below to enable the DDNS feature,

1.Log in to http://laviewddns.com/ and set up an account

2.In the NVR interface, enter the correct account and setting in DDNS menu

3.In the router menu, assign Port 80, Port 8000 and Port 8554 to the IP address of the system

4.Go to www.canyouseeme.org to ensure the ports are opened

Set up PC viewing by PT Cloud

If you need to remotely view your system when you are not under the same Wi-Fi, please try to follow the steps below to set up the P2P connection.

Before adding your system to the PC software, please make sure your system is connected to the router(network) and is showing ‘Online’ status. Please go to your system menu -> Configuration -> Network -> PT Cloud/Platform Access to double-check your system’s online status.

Here I will take my NVMS V3 as an example.

1. Go to NVMS V3, go to ‘Maintenance and Management.

2. Click ‘Add’ here.

3. Choose ‘PT COULD’ here.

4. Log in to the LaView Connect app. Go to the ‘More’-> ‘Account Management’. Note down the ‘Username'(which belongs to your LaView P2P account) and ‘Country/Region’ information.

5. Get back the Client Software.

6. After logging in to the PT cloud account, please tap ‘Online’ and search for and choose the online device you would like to add.

7. Input the verification code set in ‘Platform Access’ in NVR and tap the “Add” icon.

8. Then you are good to go now.

9. Go to ‘Main View’ on the Client Software, you are also required to input the same verification code to watch the cameras. Please input the one as #7.

Set up PC viewing by IP address

Please download the PC software NVMS V3 or NVMS 7000 on your laptop to set up PC viewing. Kindly find the tools at this link: http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/downloads

Here are more instructions about the NVMS V3.

In the example, NVMS V3 will automatically detect the online device so we are adding the device with its IP address. In this way, the system and the computer will be requested to connect to the same local network so that the software can auto-detect the online system.

1. Please go to ‘Device Management.

2. Please go to ‘Online device’ and your system will be found automatically.

3. Please choose your system from the online device and click on ‘Add’.

4. Please enter the admin name and the admin password of your system in the box popping out.

5. Your system should be added and please go to ‘Main View’ on the home page.

No video on monitor

Will need to confirm the resolution of the camera first. Kindly note that the resolution of the monitor should be higher than the camera’s. Otherwise, the monitor will go black. Please get in touch with our LaView Support Team and provide the model number of your camera as well as your system if you do not know the system resolution.

If the monitor and system work fine before but quit working suddenly, please change the HDMI/VGA cable to check this issue.

If you have another monitor, please also exchange it to see if it can work. If necessary, you can also try to access your system on your computer to double-check.

As for PC viewing, please download the PC software NVMS V3 or NVMS 7000 to your computer/laptop to get access. (Kindly find them from this link: http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/downloads) NVMS V3 tool is the latest version. NVMS 7000 can support the Mac system.

1.Open the LaView NET app. In the menu tap LaView P2P.

2.In LaView P2P click Register.

3.Enter email address and verification picture. Tap get verification code. Email with verification code will be sent to registered email. Create username and password after entering code.

4.Login using email/username and password. Enable “Auto-login”.

5.Tap the (+) icon to add a device to the account.

6.Scan the QR code on top of the system.

7.Tap the (+) symbol to add your system.

8.Enter the verification code located on the side or back of the system. Also found under Maintenance>System Info.

9.Tap on the newly added device.

10.Press “Start Live View” and be sure to enjoy your system.

*If using 4G/LTE with bad signal, you may not obtain a picture. Attempt using a strong signal.

I tried to change the name of my camera, but I’m getting “Camera Does not support this function”.

It is possible that there are no cameras connected to that specific channel or the camera has lost connectivity. If you are using a third-party camera it is possible the ONVIF protocol supported by camera is outdated which does not support OSD configuration.

Is it possible to connect a third-party camera to a LaView NVR, or a LaView Camera to a third-party NVR?

Yes, if the third-party devices support the ONVIF protocol and you are using the correct setup for the specific camera.

I’m having issues connecting my NVR to my phone

Possible Fixes:

1.Please go to Menu-Configuration-Network and under the General tab make sure enable DHCP is selected, if it is not enabled then select enable and apply. If you had to enable it, restart the NVR and try the P2P setup again.

2.If you are still having issues, make sure DDNS is NOT enabled(unchecked). If DDNS is checked, uncheck it and apply then go back to Platform Access and disable P2P and apply. Once both are disabled, do a power cycle and reboot the unit. After the unit restarts enable P2P again, and do another power cycle.

3.Go to Extranet Access, Platform Access or DDNS and make sure LaView P2P is selected then apply, also make sure “Enable Stream Encryption” is disabled.

4. If none of these work, then it could be a network issue. Try to restart your modem/router by unplugging it for about 45 seconds. Plug it back in and restart the NVR, then try to reconnect your system to the P2P account.

How Do I find my system’s IP address?

To find your system’s IP address go to Main Menu>Maintenance>System Info>Network. The IPv4 Address at the top is your local IP. If your IP address is 0.0.0.0 or 192.0.0.64, this means your system is offline. There are a few causes from this, but usually, it’s a bad ethernet cable or the cable is not plugged in properly to either the DVR or Router. If those are checked to be correct, try restarting your router by unplugging it for a minute and restarting the DVR.

EseeCloud Wireless Security Camera System Installation

Setup The System

This system is standalone with embedded Linux Operating System in the NVR. Just like a desktop PC, need to hook a screen to the NVR to enter the OS .Any TV,monitor with VGA or HDMI input should work for it.

If you connect the NVR with monitor shows Hiseeu logo or shows black,normally it is your monitor resolution is lower then the NVR.You can press the left side of the mouse for 30s,then it will reboot.

When you turn on the NVR box, the monitor will get below interface: Setup Wizard- -Down- -General setup- -Next -wireless setup- -Next- -Fast network- -Next -Format the hard drive- -Next

CHECK NVR NETWORK , CHANGE NVR SYSTEM LOGIN PASSWORD

Once you have completed connecting the NVR,wait approximately 2-3 minutes.Next you will see the window below on your monitor screen.For your first time to login in,User name is admin,there is no password,just choose ok to get into the menu.

Tips: To protect your privacy,please set your password at earliest convenience(don’t set the password over 8 characters).Right click the mouse→System Setup→System Admin→User to set password.

How to check if your Cloud is online and Network status is healthy ?

Right click the mouse of the register,choose Fast Network.In the middle of the window you should see Cloud status as ONLINE and Network Status as Healthy Network.

If this does not appear, select Manual Config then enable DHCP,Click Apply,then power off the NVR box,wait a few seconds and power up.

Once you power up, repeat the steps outlined as above.Cloud status must be ONLINE and Network Status must be Healthy Network.If this does not happen,you will not be able to view remotely

Menu Do What

There are 3 modes for reocrd.

1.Time Recording: Setup period of time of recording on NVR GUI.Right click mouse→System Setup→Record setup→Record Plan.Click “time”and put mouse icon on the upper left corner(for example“1”as picture shows),press and drag the mouse to the right to choose the time.The list will turn to red.

2.Motion Recording: Only detect motion and then start recording.Right click mouse→System Setup→Record setup→Record Plan.Click“motion”and put mouse icon on the upper left corner,press and drag the mouse to the right to choose the time.The list will turn to green.

3.Alarm recording: Right click mouse→System Setup→Record setup→Record Plan.Click “Alarm” and put mouse icon on the upper left corner,press and drag the mouse to the right to choose the time.
The list will turn to yellow.

Note: Users can setup any period of time they want,for example 0:00:00-23:59:59,That’s 24 hours×7days recording.When NVR detects hard disk,the default setting will be 24 hours×7 days recording.

The priority of Alarm is higher than that of Motion,and the priority of Motion is higher than that of Time.

Video Playback

Steps: right clik mouse in main menu→Video playback→choose date,channel,record mode→click search→then can view playback file.(IE browser can’t check the playback directly,so you can use the Eseecloud software on computer or check on your phone app Eseecloud and IP RPO)

Warm prompt:

1.IIIustration for playback button: play, pause, fast forward×2,×4,×8

2.Play file:Choose the recording file in file list,as number “1” shown in picture.Choose one of the recording,click “play” to play to recording file;

3.Video backup:Choose the recording file in file list,as number “1” shown in picture.Insert the U flash disk,click “video backup” to backup the file;

4.Timeline: Click “date”and “time”at left bottom to check the timeline of recording,as number “2″ shown in picture;

5.On the timeline with recording file,left click the mouse,the can playback the file.

Notes: you can see four channel cameras playback at the same time,if you want to check other channels you need select the correct channel at first,then choose search to find it playback.

How to Backup the video

Use U disk to copy video,so easy and convenient!

1.2 USB ports: Plug U flash disk into the USB port of NVR. Right click on main menu→Video backup→choose backup channel→choose video mode→setup searching time→search→choose recording file on the list→video backup (support 32G U flash disk at max.Recording file is packed one hour per time.)

2.1 USB port: Right click on main menu→video backup→choose backup channel→choose video mode→setup searching time→search→choose recording file on the list→video backup, insert U flash disk within reminding 1 minute,then the system will backup recording file to U flash disk.

The playback files is avi. format, you can use VLC player to check it on your computer VLC player.

Input Cloud ID (Right click the mouse→fast network→Cloud ID)

*Select “Add”
*Select “Cloud ID”.enter the cloud ID(9 or 10 numbers).You can find it on your home monitor screen.

* Password is your NVR system password on your home monitor screen.(If you don’t change It in your setup,it should be no password)
* Channels: Input 4 or 6 or 8. If you have 4 cameras,enter 4 etc.
* Click Confirm and you will see the video.

if you check in the local network,you can use the NVR IP address to add the system (Find the IP address on Fast network page or Network setting page)

To View on IE browser

Find the IP address: right click your mouse and choose Fast network, you will see the IP address here.
Enter the NVR’s IP address in your IE browser for example: http://192.168.1.105(If the default WEB port 80 has been changed e.g. to 100,you need to add new port number when input IP address in the browser,for example: http://192.168.1.105:100).

To view on the Phone

Users can use cellphone to scan the QR code below to install the APP free of charge,or users can search “Eseecloud”or ’IP PRO‘ on APP store or Google Play then install the APP.

Click “+”→other ways to add/ scan the QR code on your fast network page→Network connected device→input Cloud ID and User name and password (user name and password is the same one you login in NVR)

Tips: if you’ve set a password on your NVR system,please update your password on APP to view.
And if your camera loading for a long time and don’t show image,you can right click your NVR mouse and choose System Setup→Network setup,change the MTU to 1000.

Playback On Mobiles

In the Eseecloud APP,while viewing live video of the system,click Playback,you will enter the remote playback menu.The APP Playback only check one channel at one time

Tips: Videos in playback are HD mode for real time which requires very good transmission condition.
We suggest to playback in LAN.Remote playback out of LAN may not 100% work due to connection & network condition.

Extend WIFI Range

Wireless connection is easy and convenient, but it’s not universal application. Because of the character of WIFI, the WIFI signal will decrease when going through some obstacles Some methods can be applied to bypass obstacles and extend WiFi range.

Position The Antenna Correctly

WIFI range is like an apple and the antenna of NVR is in the center of it.WIFI signal is strong all around the WIFI range.Antenna of NVR should be put straight up,if not,WIFI signal will be weak.
According to the signal transmission character of antenna, the antenna of cameras should overlap or parallel to NVR WIFI range,as pictures showed below:

Use Antenna Extension Cord to prolong WIFI distance

Installation method of antenna extension cord

Note:When WIFI signal is not strong enough against walls,users can take off the original antenna and subtitute antenna extension cord.Drill a hole on the wall to let the extension cord go through and simply it where WIFI signal is strong.

Set up cascading connection in a reasonable solution,extend wifi signal transfer distance

Note:
Repeater function can’t strengthen WIFI signal for wireless NVR kit, but can extend the distance by repeaters→WIFI cameras.

Only when the repeater cameras and repeated cameras are positioned correctly,WIFI distance will be extended.

Repeater function and 3 meters antenna extension cord are two methods to extend WIFI range.
Users can choose one according to real situation.

Repeater Setup

Step 1. Right click the NVR mouse,and choose “Video Manage”- -then left click Repeater”

Step 2. Add repeater
As picture shown below,click icon + besides channel 3,choose other channel.

Step 3. As picture shown below, it means IPC1 is connected to NVR through IPC2 and IPC3.
IPC2 is connected to NVR through IPC3.IPC3 is connected to NVR directly.

Step 4. Click “Apply” and then click “refresh” to check if the setting is successful.

Delete Repeater

Move the mouse to targeted channels,left click to delete,and then click “Apply” and “OK”.

Application Example

As picture shown above, when IPCAM1 is put somewhere is out of NVR WIFI range,and there is IPCAM2 between them with strong WIFI signal,users can put IPCAM1 close to NVR and power it, setup IPCAM1 repeated by IPCAM2, and then install IPCAM1 to the presupposed place.

Camera add failure reasons and solutions

Q1: Failed to add the camera for the first time

Check whether the green light of the camera flashes normally. If the camera status light is not flashing green, use a thimble to lightly insert the configuration hole or long press the reset button until the camera indicator flashes.

Q2: Determine whether the binding failure caused by the router settings

1. The router has been set up to prevent Wi-fi squatter If the Wi-Fi connected to the camera is set to prevent Wi-fi squatter(black and white lists, MAC address filtering, etc.), the camera will not be able to connect to the Internet. The router’s prevent Wi-fi squatter settings need to be canceled.

2. The router is set up with 5GHz band wireless WiFi The camera does not currently support the connection of 5G band WiFi. Please open the router management page (generally marked with the address of the management page on the bottom label of the router), select the wireless setting 2.4GHz, and set it to on.

Q3: Check whether the mobile phone prohibit the permission of EseeCloud to use data, WLAN, GPS

Domestic Android phones may prohibit the use of data, WLAN, GPS permissions for this application, resulting in the camera being unable to connect to WiFi. Solution (Android phone): Open the phone settings center-click “application management”-open the above permissions

Q4: Make sure that the WilFi account and password are filled in correctly

It is likely that the Wi-Fi account and password you connected to the camera are incorrect, resulting in the camera not being able to connect to the network. In particular, pay attention to whether there is a space input, and try to avoid complex and uncommon symbols.

Q5: Other questions

1. If the router is set to bridge mode, the WiFi signal will be unstable, causing the connection to fail. It is not recommended to use WiFi in bridge mode when the camera is networked.

2. If you are a campus / enterprise user and the school 1 company assigns each student / employee a static IP to access the Internet, you can manually enter the static IP information to access the Internet.At present, this situation is not supported by camera networking, need to select other available WiFi connections.

3. The camera does not support WPA / WPA2’s “enterprise” encryption method to connect the camera to the network. Support WEP, WPA–PSK 1 WPA2–PSK, or corporate WiFi without password. If the camera is networked in the corporate network environment, please confirm in advance whether the WiFi encryption method meets the camera networking requirements.

What should do if the camera is offline?

Q1: Camera offline processing method

1. Check whether your device is power-on and the status light is on;
2. If you are using WIFI connection, please confirm whether you have modified the WIFI in the environment where the device is located-including the WIFI password and name, if modified, please reconfigure WIFl;
3. If the reason cannot be resolved, please restore the factory settings and add the network again.

Open Settings-> Select Wireless LAN > Select ‘IPCXXXXXXXXX’ device hotspot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question one：After installation, open the CMS and display “Cannot load plugin”?

Answer one：

1.Please confirm whether the installation path uses Chinese when installing, and the plugin is temporarily not compatible with Chinese path.

2.After confirming the non-Chinese path, if the problem persists, you can contact technical support for assistance.

Question two：After connecting multiple channels of video (more than 30 channels), videos stop for a few seconds , all channels are automatically disconnected into the black screen. The device connected again has no response. Do we need to restart the CMS?

Answer two：The new version of CMS3.0.1 runs with higher memory. If you connect many channels by the lower configuration computer, the computer system will run out of memory, causing the CMS to run abnormally. If the computer configuration is slightly lower, it is recommended not to connect too many channels. The optimization work has been planned for this situation.

Question three：When CMS is installed on the OSX system, it displays “File is corrupted” or “Unable to open” when it is opened?

Answer three：

1.Open “System Settings” → “Security and Privacy” → “Allow applications to be downloaded in the following location”, check “any source” (applies to versions prior to OSX10.12.X);

2.Open “Terminal”, enter the string “sudo spctl –master-disable”, press the “Enter” key, enter the sudo password (applicable to versions after OSX10.12.X). If the above method still does not work, please contact us to help you solve it.

Question four：After starting a window and flashing, it will not start or XP will appear. Open the software to indicate 0a00000000 memory referenced by 0x00000000 instruction. The memory cannot be ‘written’.

Basic Settings

Split screen number：The selected split screen number is displayed after the re-login, and the CMS provides split screen 1/4/6/8/9/16/25/36/49 nine forms of choice.

Display language：CMS currently defaults to 9 display languages, such as Simplified Chinese and English. When you choose to log in again, you will switch to the corresponding language.

Login Method：The cloud login mode is online. You need to connect to the external network when you log in. The local login does not have this hard requirement.

List style：The list style includes tree shape and graphics. The replacement is only the real-time preview interface and the display of the device list under the playback interface. The device list under other interfaces is unified into the tree list style.

Path modification：

①Screenshot path: The screenshot file is saved in the snapshot folder by default, and can be saved in other paths according to its own needs.

②Local recording path: The local recording file is saved in the record folder by default, and can be saved in other paths according to its own needs.

③Video download path: The files downloaded by the playback video are saved in the video_download folder by default, and can be saved in other paths according to their needs.

Preview sync time：Check the time when the device is previewed and the computer will be automatically synchronized (only ipc is supported)

Time zone setting：The local time zone can be selected according to the actual situation.

Automatic lock：Check the auto lock and enter the integer in minutes in the time frame. If no operation is performed on the CMS within the time of the input, the CMS will automatically lock.

Automatically connect video：After logging in to the auto-connect video, log in to the CMS and automatically connect to the device added to the device list. The number of connected channels is the number of split screens in the basic settings.

Cloud storage details

Features

1. What is cloud storage? The cloud storage function is a video storage function developed based on technologies such as moving object detection. Cloud storage is divided into two types: alarm recording and full-day recording. Alarm recording refers to triggering the camera alarm when someone passes by or moves in front of the camera. The camera will automatically record and upload it to the Cloud Space Security Center for encryption. You can use it with confidence.

Tips:

(1) As long as you purchase the cloud storage service, you can get the corresponding cloud space. For example, if you purchase the cloud deposit monthly package, the cloud space is valid for one month, and it will take effect from the successful purchase.

(2) The storage time of cloud storage video is determined by the type of package. If you open the cloud storage package for 7 days, the camera cloud video storage period is 7 days. The 30-day cloud storage package will be opened, and the camera cloud video storage cycle will be upgraded to 30 days. If you open a 7G/month cloud storage package, then your cloud recording storage space is 7G in this month. After the space is full, the cloud recording will not be saved. The stored video will be saved for one month.

2. What are the advantages of cloud storage? The video is safer: the video cloud storage can not steal, safe and reliable. More efficient viewing: generate alarm video in real time, quickly grasp the alarm situation, the video is clear and smooth without jamming Cloud storage: Camera video is stored in cloud space, no space limit, and unlimited cloud storage space.

Cloud deposit purchase and exchange

1. How to buy a cloud storage package?
Click the device list device “Cloud Record” button or the personal center “Cloud Mall” – enter the “Cloud Mall” interface – click “Switch” to select the device you want to purchase and the device channel – automatically select the appropriate package for you after the selection is completed – click ” Buy now” Once the payment is complete, you can turn on device cloud storage.
Tips:
(1) Cloud deposit does not support return and exchange after purchase, and does not support refund;
(2) The purchase channel of the device is determined by the number of package service channels of the system. If the system has only two packages with service channels 1 and 3, then the device can only select 1 or 3 purchase channels;
(3) Cloud storage is only bound to the purchase user. The device with the cloud storage is deleted and added to the new account. Under the new account, the device will not be able to continue to enjoy the cloud storage;

Cloud video introduction

1.cloud video types and abnormal conditions

Cloud recording is divided into two types: alarm recording and full-day recording.

Alarm recording, the video will only be uploaded when the camera detects that someone has passed, the item has been moved, and the camera alarm is triggered.

Recording all day means that the camera will automatically record when it is online and in good condition. It will be detected 24 hours a day and encrypted and uploaded to the cloud space.

The cloud video is lost when the device is deleted, the device uploads the cloud video, and the device is disconnected from the network. The device and the server are disconnected. The device network bandwidth is insufficient and the device cannot upload video and video.

2.How to turn off the automatic upload function of cloud recording?

After purchasing the cloud storage package, the cloud recording function will be automatically enabled.

You can click the “Cloud Recording” button corresponding to the device list to enter the cloud recording interface. Click the cloud storage service icon to enter the “Cloud Storage Service” – disable the cloud recording function.

Tips: After the cloud recording function is turned off, the validity period of the cloud storage will not be extended;

Cloud retention period

1.Cloud deposit validity period
Cloud deposits take effect from the date of purchase, that is, the validity period of cloud deposits is: “at the time of purchase” to “the same time point after one month / one year later”. For example, the cloud deposit package of 7 days/month was purchased at 0:00 on April 1, 2019, and the validity period of the cloud deposit is a natural month. It is: 0:00 on April 1, 2019, and O:00 on May 1, 2019.

Tips: The validity period of the channel cloud is the sum of the time of all the cloud storage packages in the channel. For example, channel 1 purchased two 7-day/ month cloud storage packages at 0:00 on April 1, 2019, then the cloud storage validity period is: 0:00 on April 1, 2019, and June 1, 2019. 0:00 on the day.

2. Can the cloud validity period be suspended?
Cloud storage is timed from the date of purchase, and will not stop during the time. after the user purchases the cloud storage, the action of deleting or stopping the uploading of the video can not affect the cloud expiration time

Cloud storage renewal

1. How to renew the cloud deposit package?
(1) Conditions for cloud surviving fee: The current device has purchased the cloud storage channel to purchase or renew the cloud storage package;
(2) Process of cloud surviving fee: Click the device “Cloud Recording” to enter the cloud recording interface click the “Cloud Storage Service” icon to enter the cloud storage service – select the channel to renew the fee – click the “Renew Now” button below to enter the cloud mall interface – Select the channel and package for renewal of the device – click on the renewal fee immediately to complete the renewal.

Tips: When you are renewing, if the renewal plan are using the package and the other channels of the package meet the renewal conditions, it will default to select previous package and channel.

Cloud storage migration

1. Unbound cloud service migration

(1) Conditions for migrating cloud services: The current account has a cloud storage service of unbound devices;

(2) Migration cloud service process:
After the device is added successfully, if the device meets the service migration conditions, the migration prompt box is displayed. After confirming, select the service that needs to be migrated to the newly added device, and click “Migration”.

If the device is a single-channel device, the device migrates directly to the device list interface. If the device is a multi-channel device, you need to select the number of channels equal to the number of services to migrate.

2. Offline device cloud service migration
(1) Offline device cloud service migration conditions: the current account has offline devices that have been bound to the cloud service;
(2) Migration process:
After the device is successfully added, if the device meets the service migration criteria, the migration prompt box is displayed. After the determination, the device iumps to the miaration interface.

b. Select an offline device to migrate. If the offline device is multi channel, you need to select the migrated device channel.

If the device is a single-channel device, the device migrates directly to the device list interface. If the device is a multi-channel device, you need to select an equal number of channels to migrate.
Tips: Do not migrate all day recording cloud services to NVR devices

FAQ

When added by LAN or cloud lD,indicate “device is not online” or “device is not registered”

1.Please make sure the network is normal and already enable DHCP on router.

2.lf users manually change network parameter of device,please change it to default parameter. Just press reset button for 10 seconds.

Device is online and there happen alarm , but cellphone gets no message?

1.Please make sure the APP is on and allowit to get APP push message,then it can get alarm notification.

2.After enable push message,check cellphone setup-application management,find out the “Eseecloud ” and enable to get push message.

Indicate “SD card error” after insert SD card.

1.Only support SD card max 128GB and FAT32 format. If the system file is error,please formart the SD card and choose FAT32 format.

2.When SD card is ruined or file system is wrong,please try to change or re-format the SD card.

Why the playback recording video content is uncontinuous?

1.For saving the room of SD card and extend the lifetime,device will only make recording when detect the actived image ,that’s why the recording content is uncontinuous.

Can the device support be powered by USB or power bank?

1.Suggest to use original power adapter. If use other adapter with the power is not stable,the device may be damaged.

How to upgrade older TKH Security Firmwares

The latest 360v2-series cameras firmware carries “UX“ in its firmware filename, where previously “U“ was used. This change is minor and does not mean much with regards to the functionality of the firmware. However, some older “U” do not allow direct upgrade to the latest “UX“ firmware.

In these cases, an intermediate step must be taken: first upgrade firmware to the nk20210916UX version; after this, the camera will allow the firmware upgrade to the latest version found on the public download pages.

This intermediate firmware version nk20210916UX can be downloaded from here:

Prechecks

Before the update it is required that the state of the system is known. Not functioning readers, nodes and lines must be noted.

Update

Download the Backup from the maintenance page.

Upload the new iProtect™ version at the maintenance page

Go to the iProtect™ maintenance page (Click on the gear button on the login screen)
Install > Upload iProtect (1)
Click on the “…” button and select the new iProtect™ version at the maintenance page and click on the “Post” button.

When the “Check requirements” button appears, press it and a check will be done. Check the log and see what is needed to continue. This is also a good moment to install the ServicePack.

Click on the “…” button and select the ServicePack you want to install and click on the “Post” Button.

You can follow the installation process at the realtime logging, the Apache2 web server will restart multiple times, this will cause an interruption of the iProtect™ Gui and maintenance page.

You need to wait (10 minutes max) till you see the message below in the Realtime logging.

iProtect™ atlas: Installation ServicePack … finished.

Sometimes a reboot of the server is required, you will see a notification of this in the messages.

Install the new iProtect™ version at the maintenance page

Click on the “Check Requirements” button.
if the check is passed you get a “Start Upgrade” button and can start the update by a click on this button.

You can follow the installation at the User interface logging, if you see the messages below the Gui is ready and you can login in iProtect™ again (only the root user can login at this point)

You must delete browser history before logging in to iProtect.

Activating lines

To be sure all lines and nodes gets the latest software, select the system default Provisioner group.

Go to iProtect™ menu option Installation > Hardware > Line
Select System default at the Provisioner group options.

The components under the line config will automatically be provided with the latest firmware version.

Activate the line’s now, the Door controllers will get the new software and start with the installation automatically. The doors will be non-functional for 5-10 minutes. Open doors beforehand if they are critical.

Finishing the update

When all lines are updated and the re-index message is gone, you can finish the update with the button in the menu:

Installation > Database restore > Activate line

How to set presets & auto-patrol for xmartO PTZ cameras?

The xmartO WT series, DZ series and DPM series PTZ cameras support up to 8 preset points.

Definition of ‘presets’: PTZ cameras can be navigated to view different areas. Presets record the key points so you can reach the recorded poinits with one tap.

Auto-patrol: a feature xmartO developped based on preset feature. The camera patrol the preset points back and forth. AKA auto-cruise, auto-scan.

1. Set preset points

While viewing the camera, tap PTZ icon to enter PTZ menu; then tap Preset to enter preset menu. Use the joystick to navigate the camera to the 1st point, tap ‘Add Preset’ to save the point 1; then navigate the camera to next point and tap ‘Add preset’ to save the point 2…you can save up to 8 points.

2. In the preset menu, you can tap ‘Go to‘ to reach the preset points.

3. Start Auto-patrol

a) If your camera does not have optical zoom, tap the image, on right you will see the A icon. Tap the A icon the camera will start to patrol the preset points.

b) If your camera is the version with optical zoom, well it has higher level chipset inside. The Auto-patrol is a bit different. In preset menu, tap ‘Shortcut mode’, type in ’13’ and tap Go to, the camera will start to patrol the preset points.

4. Stop Auto-patrol

Tap any of the direction on the joystick will stop the auto patrol.

Tips: cameras added to xmartO NVR have the same steps. It’s similar to on the NVR. Only the NVR’s UI is a bit different and the A icon is in the middle of the joystick.

View XMARTO WiFi cameras on PC

CMS is called Camera Monitor System. It is a camera monitoring client for online preview image, video storage, remote playback, device management, video/screen download and other functions. It is suitable for DVR, NVR, IPC, VR CAM, Wifi IPC and other devices.

1. Download xmartO WallPixel CMS Software
Link: https://www.xmarto.com/downloads/

2.Installation and operation

Step 1: Run the xmartO_WallPixel_for_PC_Setup.exe installation package.

Step 2: Select the language that your system needs to use.

Step 3: Read and accept the agreement.

Step 4: Select and determine your software installation path.

Step 5: After the installation is successful, immediately run and use.

3. Login

3.1 Local Login

Default username: admin
Default password: no password, leave it blank

For security reason, we suggest you set a password after you are logged in.

3.2 Cloud Login

Use the app account: Enter the username + password of the app account on the cloud login interface to log in.

Register an account:Click on the registered account in the cloud login interface, enter the mobile phone number / email (if using the mobile phone number to register, you need to add the mobile phone number area code), click OK, enter the password and verification code and click Register now, after verification, you can complete the registration.

Forgot password:Click on the forgot password in the login interface, enter the registered account to obtain the verification code, enter the verification code and the new password and click OK to reset the password.

4. Add Device to CMS

You can add devices to the CMS in two ways:

Method 1: After adding the device using the mobile APP, directly log in to the CMS using the APP account password, and you can view the device you have added in the CMS system;

Method 2: Please make sure that your device is equipped with a network or a network cable, log in to the CMS, and click the add button in the upper right corner.

Add IP / DDNS: manually enter the device “IP / DDNS + port + channel number + device password”, select “type” according to the actual situation of the device, the rest of the information remains the default, click Finish to add successfully.

Cloud ID addition: manually enter the device “cloud ID number + channel number + device password”, select “type” according to the actual situation of the device, the rest of the information remains the default, click Finish to add successfully.

LAN search device addition: select the device management in the function bar below the system, click the interface refresh button, wait for the device to be searched, check the required device and click add (enter the device IP / ID to quickly find the need to add device)

5. Live View
The xmartO WallPixel CMS allows you to view cameras on your computer both locally and remotely.

5.1 Main Menu Introduction of CMS:

Playback: Click to playback videos stored in your hard drive
Device Management: Manage your device(s)
User Parameter: Some basic settings of CMS
Record: Record short videos of live view cameras, videos will be stored to your computer
Screenshot: Take snapshots of live view cameras, pictures will be stored to your computer
Disconnect All: Turn off live view of all cameras on CMS
Screen Number: Choose how many cameras you want to display on one screen, the CMS allows you to view up to 64 cameras simultaneously
More Function: More basic functions of CMS, including creating user, setting password and etc.

5.2 Multi-channel Viewing
CMS allows you to view up to 64 cameras simultaneouly. So if you have multiple systems, you can view all cameras in multiple systems simultaneously on this CMS.

5.3 Record and Snapshot
CMS allows you to record short videos and take snapshots when live view cameras, videos and snapshots will be saved in your computer. You can change the storage path here as shown in the picture.

6. Playback
CMS allows you to playback your history videos stored in hard drive. With this CMS, you can playback videos stored in hard drive or micro SD card from all over the world. Detailed instruction as below:

a. Click “Playback” on bottom navigation, it will pop out message “Close the video being played?” Choose Yes.
b. Select a window on left(1), select a channel from the device(2), choose the Record Type, select a date(3), and click “Retrieval”(4). The CMS will start playback videos of that channel immediately. Move the cursor on the time bar at bottom to locate an exact time to replay the camera per your needs.

c. You can record short videos or take snapshots while playback videos. Videos and snapshots will be stored to your computer.

7. Backup
CMS allows you to download and backup videos to your computer.
The downloaded video files are in .mp4 format, you can playback with any player.

Detailed instruction here:
Click “Playback” on bottom navigation, select a device channel, choose Record type, select a date and then click “Download” on bottom right. You’ll see below interface with a list of all recorded videos.

Videos will be saved to your computer, as shown in below picture. You can also change the storage path.

8. User Management

8.1 Change admin password
Click “More Function” on bottom navigation, choose “System Message” and click “Change Password”. Keep the old password blank, and enter your new password, confirm your new password, and click “Confirm” to save it.

Something important need to pay attention to:
If you have once installed old ESeeCloud version on your computer and plan to upgrade to this new one, you need to uninstall the old version from your computer completely, and delete related files. Then install this new version, otherwise the new one does not work on your computer.

Here is how to uninstall the old one and delete the related files from your computer:
1. Uninstall the current ESeeCloud software from your computer.
2. Go to the place where you install this software on your computer and delete the file named with ESeeCloud completely, usually it is stored here: C:\Program Files (x86)\EseeCloud
3. Go to below path and delete the ESeeCloud file, as shown in below picture.
C:\Users\Administrator (or your username)\AppData\Local\EseeCloud
C:\Users\Administrator (or your username)\AppData\Local\EseeCloud_Data
C:\Users\Administrator (or your username)\AppData\Roaming\EseeCloud

If the file is not shown there, then you need to check “show hidden files, folders and drives “, as shown in below picture.

How to view xmartO cameras on Mac?

EseeCloud is an updated CMS to preview, playback and backup the xmartO cameras/ camera systems on Mac.

1. Download ESeeCloud CMS Software
Download the EseeCloud CMS from xmartO website:
https://www.xmarto.com/downloads

2. Install and run ESeeCloud CMS on your Mac.
Install the CMS on your Mac and run it. If you have problem installing ESeeCloud CMS to your Mac, please refer to,

3. Login ESeeCloud
After that, you will be asked to type in the username and password. The default username is “admin”, default password is blank. For security reason, please set a login password to prevent unauthorized access.

4. Add Device to ESeeCloud CMS

4.1 Auto add, applies to add devices in LAN
EseeCloud CMS will search the devices in LAN automatically and display them in the Device Management list.

a. Click “Device Management” in upper navigation, you’ll see your device(s) listed there.
b. Select the device(s) and click Add. Your device(s) will be added to ESeeCloud CMS. They will show on upper right.

c. Go back to Live View, and click on the “play button”

behind each device to preview. If you want to view cameras from all devices at the same time, simply click “All Connect” at the right bottom. Click on the “stop button” behind each device to stop previewing cameras of this device.

4.2 Manual add, applies to add devices remotely
If you want to view cameras from a remote computer, you need to add the device to your ESeeCloud CMS manually on that computer.

a. Run and login ESeeCloud, then click “+” at top right corner. Or click “Device Management” on upper navigation.

b. You’ll see below interface. There are two ways to add device to ESeeCloud: Add cloud ID and Add IP/DDNS.
Add cloud ID: Add device to ESeeCloud with your NVR’s Device/Cloud ID. It is available for local and remote access.
Add IP/DDNS: Add device to ESeeCloud with your NVR’s IP address. It is available for local access only, so if you want remote access your cameras on this computer, choose the first Add cloud ID.

c. Type in the information required and click “Add”, the device is added to this ESeeCloud CMS, you can preview the cameras now.

Note: If you are adding xmartO VR camera, please turn on the Panorama.

5. Live View
5.1 The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to view cameras on your computer both locally and remotely. Please refer to below image for basic introduction of buttons.

5.2 It allows you to view up to 64 cameras simultaneously.

5.3 It supports all xmartO security camera systems and VR cameras. You can turn on panorama for VR cameras here, and also you can turn on the auto cruise.

6. Playback
The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to playback your camera videos. With this CMS, you can playback videos stored in hard drive or microSD card from all over the world. Detailed instruction as below:

a. Click “Playback” on upper navigation.
b. Select a window on left(1), select a channel from the device(2), choose the type(3), and select a date(4), click “Search”(5). The CMS will start playback videos on camera windows shortly. Move the cursor on the time bar at bottom to locate an exact time to replay the camera per your needs.

Note: The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to playback 4 cameras at the same time.

7. Backup (It works in LAN network only)
The ESeeCloud CMS allows you to download and backup videos to your computer.
The recorded video files are in .avi format, you can playback with any player.

Detailed instruction here:
Click “Resource Management” on upper navigation, then select the channel you want to back up, select the type and date, click “Search”, you will see the recordings on the left. Click the “Download” icon to download the videos you want. Videos will be saved to your computer.

Videos will be saved to below path in default:

/Users/macusername/cms_data/cms_video_download/

You can change the storage path here:
Click the setting icon at upper right corner, then you’ll see below box. Click the three dots to change the storage path, and click Confirm.

8. User Management
8.1 Change admin password
The ESeeCloud CMS’s default username is admin, and default password in blank, means no password. For security consideration, we suggest you set a password for CMS after logged in. Here is how:

Click the “human” icon at upper right corner, then click Change Password. Keep the old password blank, and enter your new password, confirm your new password, and click Confirm.

8.2 Add new user
You can add new user for ESeeCloud CMS, here is how:
Click User Management on upper navigation, then click New, you’ll see below box.
Enter a username and remark name, click Confirm. (Remark name here is your nick name.)

Note: When you create a new user, you are not asked to enter new password for this user. It uses default password blank. You can change the password after logged in.

How to view cameras on the mobile app (WallPixel)

1. Download and install WallPixel App

Download the free WallPixel mobile app from App Store or Google Play Store and install the application on your phone or tablet.

2. Creating an Account

Tap the app, click “Register”, enter the required information to create an app account.
If you already have an account, login with your username and password.

After click “Register”, input your phone number or email address then the app will send you the verification code.

Check the email or text you’ve received and input the verification code.

Then you need to set a password and confirm it again. (The password should be a combination of 6-20 numbers or letters.)

At last, click “OK”,you’ll create the account successfully.

3. Adding NVR Device to App

Tap “+” at the top right corner, then tap the first option ” Wifi Camera Kit with NVR” to add your NVR device to the app.

4. Entering Device Information

Enter the required device information and click Save.

Cloud ID: This is your system’s Device ID, which can be found at the right bottom of your monitor. It is 9 digits. (NVR Device ID can also be found at NVR’s System setting – Network setting)
Username: Your NVR login username, default is admin. If you’ve set a new user for your NVR, use the new username here.
Password: Your NVR login password, default is empty, means no password, leave it blank. If you’ve set a new password for your NVR, make sure to type in the new password here.

* You can also scan to add your NVR device to the app.
a. Right click your NVR mouse, then click System setting – Network setting, click “Show QR Code”. The Cloud ID QR Code will be displayed.
b. Open the app, click + at upper right corner, then choose Scan and scan the QR Code displayed in your NVR’s network setting interface.
c. Enter your NVR’s login username and password, save the settings. Your device is now added to app. You can start live view cameras now.

5. Viewing Cameras on Phone

Once you click “Save”, the device will be added to your account and you’ll be directed to the device list page. As shown in below picture. Click the device to start live viewing your cameras.

6.View live video on mobile

Playback: You can playback the recorded videos in HDD on your mobile. Select any channel and click playback to review recorded videos of that channel.

Window: You can choose to view 1/4/6/8 cameras at a time.

Aspect Ratio:You can adjust the aspect ratio of the cameras’ image.

SD: Change live view resolution. You can select from HD or SD. HD means high definition resolution, while SD means standard resolution.

7.My account info.

Personal info: View your account information and change the password.
App setting: Some basic settings for your app.
Version: Your current app version.
Logout: Log out your current account.

How to set camera’s light mode on the NVR? (solves black night vision)

The light mode of each camera lets you select which lights to use.

Click the camera image, it will pop-out a quick menu on bottom, pls click Color & Light-Light Model.

Infrared mode: uses IR LEDs only. At night you see B&W night vision. And the camera will then automatically adjust the day & night vision.

full color mode: flood lights stay on at night, you see color night vision.(Only cameras with floodlight can do it)

smart mode: B&W IR night vision when nobody detected, flood lights automatically turn on when people detected.

How to Upgrade xmartO IP camera firmware

OTA upgrade cameras firmware from APP (for standalone cameras)

For standalone cameras, in the APP device list, tap “…” at upper right corner of your device, choose “Settings”. It will show a red dot if there is a newer version.
Tap the red dot to upgrade your camera from OTA server.

It will take a few minutes to update your camera; and the update requires your camera to have good Internet connection.

Upgrade camera firmware from NVR

For multiple-camera systems, if you want to upgrade the cameras, you will need to do it from the NVR menu with an USB stick.

1. Please download the camera’s new firmware from xmarto.com or contact customer support for new firmware

2. Copy the firmware to an USB flash disk’s root directory (not in any folder)

3. Plug the USB flash disk to your NVR’s USB port

4. Go to System setting-CH Setting- IPC Maintenance, choose the firmware from USB Storage, and click start to update the firmware of your camera.

The camera will be uprgraded and you will see a new version.

Tips: if your NVR has only 1 USB port, click Start, the NVR will start a 60-second count down. Within 60 seconds, unplug the mouse and plug the USB flash drive, your camera will be upgraded.

How to enhance WiFi connection between cameras and NVR?

While using XMARTO WiFi security camera system, customers may experience video freeze, video lag or even “no video” issue.

This is typically caused by weak WiFi signal from cameras to the NVR.

Based on 2.4Ghz WiFi, all cameras connect to the NVR’s own WiFi, just like your phones/ tablets connect to your home WiFi router.

In line of sight, XMARTO WiFi cameras can be mounted 1000ft (300m) away from the NVR. The camera system handles distance very well.

However, like any WiFi devices, the cameras do not handle obstacles very well. Each wall reduces its WiFi strength noticeably.

How Obstacles Affect Your Signal Strength

When your wireless signal is transmitted through various materials, such as walls and windows, the signal strength is affected. Though the NVR and wireless camera may be very close in proximity, you could still notice high signal interference if the signal passes through certain obstacles. For instance, if the signal passes through a concrete wall it will be severely weakened. Please reference the below chart to see which obstacles highly affect your signal and which do not.

Based on the facts, below are some suggestions of how to optimize your cameras’ WiFi connection.

1. Select a WiFi channel with least interference for your NVR

As the only hub, the NVR’s WiFi performance is crucial. To select a least-interfered WiFi channel for the NVR, ensures its performance not affected by other WiFi devices.

This is how to,

A) In NVR’s System setting – Network setting – WiFi setting. Click “Auto Select Channel“, the NVR will automatically select a WiFi channel with least WiFi interference.

B) For Japanese customers, you can choose region MKK and channel “Other” (channel 14) to avoid some WiFi interference.

2. Place your NVR and cameras reasonably

The NVR is the only WiFi hub, all cameras are WiFi devices that need to connect to the hub. Centralize the position of the NVR so it reaches all cameras well.

Principle of placing NVR and cameras: avoid any possibly avoidable wall, in the line from NVR to cameras.

Do not place near high voltage wires or other sources of electrical interference. Electrical interference will degrade the quality of the signal.

Below are some more tips:

If there has to be obstacles between the NVR and camera, adjust the height of camera or NVR to avoid floor. Floors are normally heavier than walls.

Always find possible open between NVR and camera, mount camera and place NVR’s spot accordingly to allow signal to pass.

Metal walls (including metal garage gate) absorb wifi signal. Use extra extendable wifi antenna to bring camera’s antenna inside the wall. This also works for heavy concrete wall.

Try to keep camera and NVR’s antennas parallel to get better signal pick-up.

3. Bring the camera’s antenna through a wall

If a camera needs to be mounted behind a wall, you may use a WiFi antenna with extension cable to pass the wall.

Search “WiFi antenna with extension cable” on retail website like Amazon, you will find a lot of options.

Mount the camera behind the wall, drill a hole, wire through the hole to bring the antenna inside the wall.

4. Take advantage of XMARTO Dream Liner WiFi Relay technology
The xmartO Dream Liner technology uses cameras in middle as repeaters. That way, further cameras connect to closer cameras 1st, and then to the NVR as a group.

How to pair a camera to an XMARTO NVR?

After you purchased an extra add-on camera, or when you want to swap a certain camera, you need to pair the new camera to your NVR.

1. Add by WiFi (for most cameras)

XMARTO’s “Add Cam by WiFi” feature makes this super easy.

1. Bring the camera close to the NVR, plug it to power.

2. On NVR screen, right click to enter main menu > Add Cam by WiFi. The NVR will search and add the new camera(s). Done.

The new camera will be added to NVR channel within a miniute.

What if: If this does not work, hold the camera’s reset button 6 – 10 seconds to bring the camera into config mode. Run “Add Cam by WiFi” on NVR.

2. Add with Ethernet cable (for cameras without reset key)

Another way: pair the camera with an Ethernet Cable.

1.Plug the new camera to power. Use an ethernet cable to hardwire the camera to your NVR’s LAN port.

2. On NVR screen, right click to enter NVR’s main menu > Camera Manage.

3. In upper box, click “Refresh” button to search the camera out. The camera will be listed out an initial IP address 192.168.1.xxx

4. Click to select the camera, then click in below box to select an empty channel.

5. Click “Match Code“. The system will start to pair the camera to NVR’s WiFi.

6. Within a minute or so, the camera will be successfully paired to channel and displays image. You can now unplug the camera and mount it to where you want.

How to set a closer camera as a WiFi repeater for a camera that is out of WiFi range?

Start from Generation 3 (NVR and camera with ver.3.0+), XMARTO WiFi camera systems come with AUTO WiFi Relay.

AUTO WiFi Relay: when a camera is having weak WiFi signal. It shall come in and out frequently. Such a camera will AUTOMATICALLY find a close-by camera as WiFi repeater, connect to that camera, thus to relay back to the NVR.

First of all, to get good WiFi connection for cameras, you should decide your NVR’s location and WiFi channel well.

1. Centralize your NVR location so it reaches all cameras well.

2. Use a WiFi channel with least WiFi interference, here is how,

A) In NVR’s System setting – Network setting – WiFi setting. Click “Auto Select Channel“, the NVR will automatically select a WiFi channel with least WiFi interference.

A1: It’s set on by default. Right click to enter NVR main menu – WiFi Relay, you can see the status.Make sure Auto WiFi Relay is checked.

Q2: How can I take advantage of AUTO WiFi Relay?

A2: Since it’s an auto feature now, you don’t need to do much setting job.

Here is our suggestions:

Before mounting your cameras, simply place all cameras where you want, plug them to power, wait up to an hour to see whether all cameras can stream smoothly to the NVR. If they do, mount them; if they don’t, adjust the location of your NVR, or a certain camera, till you get a stable connection for all cameras, then mount them.

When you do the test run, most cameras shall be able to connect directly to the NVR. A certain camera that is far, or with more obstables may have weak WiFi signal to connect to the NVR. It may come in and out. When it’s coming in & out, it trys connecting to the NVR as always. If it feels hard to connect, it will find an alternative – a middle camera as repeater.

This is an algorithm, it may take up to 30 minutes for the camera to form a relay chain; and suprisingly you may find it’s a changing relationship. Maybe in the morning the CAM2 connects to CAM1, in the afternoon you find CAM2 connects to the NVR directly.

It’s not hard to understand. WiFi signal is something invisible and changing. Maybe in the afternoon you had your iPad in your room, your NVR in the living room is less interfered, CAM2 finds the NVR itself a better hotspot to connect.

After the test run, as long as you have all cameras streaming well to the NVR, you can mount them to their tested spots. (regardless how many WiFi bars they give you)

If you do have a camera that is hard to connect after adjusting other cameras’ locations, you should go ahead to mount the other cameras, then come back to this very camera.

How to enable PTZ camera auto tracking on the NVR/Phone ?

When you add the PTZ cameras to the exsisting system as add-on cameras:

Go to System setting-CH Setting- Video Detection and enable the Motion Detection Tracking

On NVR version 3.2+

Click the image of a camera to pop-out the quick menu on bottom. Click ‘PTZ control’ to enter PTZ menu.

2. In PTZ menu, use the joystick to move the camera to where you want. Type preset ‘1’ and save. This point is saved as preset #1.

3. Enter ‘Auto tracking’ menu, check ‘Motion detection tracking’ and ‘Home point’, type preset 1 as the home point and Apply.

The camera will return to preset 1 after the tracking.

On the phone：

Run the app, click “…” at upper right corner of your device, Choose “Device Setting”

In “Smart Detection“, Enable the Motion Detection Tracking

If your NVR firmware is earlier than 3.1.4.4, or your camera version is older than 3.6.28; you need to upgrade your camera/ NVR to obtain the auto track feature.

1. Update your NVR version to 3.1.4.4 or higher

Online upgrade: make sure your system is getting online condition.

Right click your NVR mouse>System setting>System Admin>System upgrade, choose Online upgrade, check upgrade when download finished, click Start.

2. Download the camera firmware 3.6.28,

How to set home point for XMARTO Auto-Track PTZ cameras?

The XMARTO PTZ cameras have Auto-Track function. The Auto-Track is an AI feature that tracks activities and record.

It makes sure to record what happened even while you are not watching.

A concern comes along with the Auto-Track: would the camera track and view the wall or ground, and never come back to the entrance it was watching?

You can set a home point for the PTZ cameras. The camera will return to this key point after each track.

Follow below steps, you can set your default view point.

1. Set Home Point On APP

While viewing the camera in App, tap PTZ and use the joystick to move the camera to watch the spot you want. (such as an entrance)

Then tap Preset to enter preset menu.

In Preset menu, tap the + sign to add preset points.

The 1st preset point will be the home point.

The camera will return to this point after each track.

Tap the Edit sign, you can delete and change preset points, including the 1st home point.

2. Set Home Point in NVR Menu

If your camera is used with a NVR, you can also set the home point in NVR menu.

a) while viewing the camera on NVR screen, click the image of a camera, you will see a pop-out menu on bottom. Click PTZ control to enter PTZ menu.

b) In PTZ menu, use the joystick to move the camera to where you want. In preset type 1 and save. This point will be saved as preset #1.

c) Switch to Auto tracking menu, check Motion detection tracking and Home point, type 1 as the home point and Apply.

The camera will return to preset 1 after each tracking.

NOTE:

If your NVR does not have this Auto tracking menu, upgrade your NVR to latest version
If your NVR does not have this Auto tracking menu after the firmware upgrade, set the home point from mobile App.

How to replace my old NVR without pairing each camera again?

XMARTO’s long range WiFi security camera systems have been the best sellers on Amazon during 2015 – 2016.

Many customers’ security camera systems were runnning for 6-7 years, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

With that workload, some customers feel the necessity of replacing their old NVRs, or some of their old cameras.

Is there a way to swap the old NVR out without taking all cameras down for pairing?

The answer is affirmative.

As you may already know, the NVR itself is also a WiFi router.

The theory is simple: each time you replace your old WiFi router, you only need to set your new WiFi hotspot name and WiFi password exactly the same as before, your devices will automatically reconnect. Same thing for XMARTO NVRs.

Here are the steps replacing your old NVRs without re-pairing all cameras:

Step 1: Record the WiFi information of your old NVR.

As showed in below image, in your old NVR’s menu, navigate to System Setting – Network setting – WiFi setting, you will see the ESSID and password information, which is the WiFi name and WiFi password of this NVR. Take a photo to record this information.

Step 2: Revise your new NVR WiFi information to the same as old NVR’s.

Swap your old NVR out and plug your new NVR, enter the same WiFi setting. Revise the new NVR’s ESSID & password to exactly the same as on the old NVR.

Step 3: Find your cameras back

With the old WiFi information on the new NVR, your cameras are connected with the new NVR.

Now you need add the cameras to your NVR channels.

In the NVR menu, right click – Camera Manage; click Search till you see your cameras listed in the above box. Then click ‘Add One’ to add the cameras to NVR channels.

Your cameras will be added to the channels in the below box and work as before.

FAQ

My old NVR is still working fine. Should I upgrade it to a newer one?

Not necessarily. As long as they are working fine. You don’t have to upgrade the NVR, or the camera.

2. I plan to add the latest XMARTO PTZ camera, or solar cameras to my old system. Is it compatible?

XMARTO products are compatible with each other. But if your NVR is 960p or 1080p, they are not capable to take in the new 3MP & 5MP cameras.

Please check your NVR’s version in System admin. If you have version 3.0+, you can feel free to add latest cameras. If your NVR version is earlier than 3.0, please consider to upgrade your NVR (hardware) to the latest model.

3. What if my old NVR does not turn on and I cannot enter the menu?

Please try to open the old NVR, unplug the 2 cables on hard drive, see if you can enter the menu to record old WiFi information.

If you cannot enter the old NVR’s menu to find WiFi info, you will need to pair your cameras to the new NVR one by one. Here is how to,

“Incorrect password” while viewing XMARTO cameras from App

The XMARTO home security systems have 2-layer of security password.

1. The NVR device password (AKA the admin password)

Each time you access the NVR menu, it requires the admin password. Without a device password, users will be locked out.

Device admin password can be set when you follow the 1st time initial setup, or at any time in System setting – System admin – User.

This is very important and we suggest you to set and remember your admin password at 1st time.

This device password (device lock) is local and it locks access to your NVR, no matter whether your NVR has Internet connection or not.

2. App login password

Like using any Internet service, using WallPixel App requires you to create an user account.

Your App user account is normally an email address or a phone number; and the password is the code protecting your user account.

If you don’t have a WallPixel App user account, tap Register to create an user account.

The App user account is different from your device admin password. They are 2 sets of combinations.

The NVR admin password is a local password locking your NVR; the App user account password is an Internet password locking access to your WallPixel user account.

3. The connection

The connection between App user account and the NVR/ camera is based on Cloud ID.

The Cloud ID is an unique ID number of a XMARTO NVR or camera. On most NVRs/ cameras, you can find a QR code indicating the device’s Cloud ID. You can also find the Cloud ID on NVR screen’s below right corner.

To access the Cloud ID corresponding device, you need to provide the device password. Without the password, you will be locked out.

As advised in the manual, when you add the NVR/ Camera to the App, you are lead to provide the admin password,

The password here refers to the NVR/ camera’s admin password, not the App user password.

Provide your admin password, you will be able to view the cameras remotely from the App.

If you are an authorized user by the administrator, provide your user name and your password.

4. Update device password

If you’ve changed your admin password lately, you need to update it to the App.

A few important tips

The default password
If you skip setting a password for your NVR or camera, then the default password is empty.
You leave the password area empty and tap next to view the cameras or access the menu.

That also means, theoretically anyone who knows your Cloud ID can access the NVR/ camera. (although no one will know your Cloud ID unless you show them). So it is strongly suggested to set an admin password; as soon as you start to use the XMARTO NVR/ camera.

2. Secondary users

If you are running a store, an office etc; in the System setting – System admin – User setting, you can add a few users with secondary permissions.

Then give those secondary user accounts to your employees. For example, you added user “JohnWayne” with password “batman”.

When he try to access the NVR’s screen, he needs to change the username from “admin” to “JohnWayne”, then enter password “batman” to access the NVR menu.

Same thing in the App. Obviously John Wayne needs to create his own App user account with his own email or phone #.

Then when he add the NVR system or camera to App, he input or scan the Cloud ID, provide his own NVR/Camera access combination, to access the NVR/ camera, with your nominated permissions only.

3. That sounds way too complicated. “I’d simply let my families know my Cloud ID and admin password so they can view”

Not suggested. Logically, the WallPixel Cloud will take the 1st App user who added the Cloud ID as the owner.

If you have a 2nd or 3rd user adding the same Cloud ID as admin, 1 or few of you may miss some features, such as the App notifications.

The correct way is to use the Sharing feature.

a) let your families download and install WallPixel App, then create his/ her own App user account.

b) in the App, tap sharing, set sharing perimissions and valid time. Then send the QR code to your families.

c) In WallPixel App, your families scan the QR codes to add the camera/ system. (no matter where they are)

4. “My XMARTO security system have 4 cameras and a NVR. Does that mean I have 5 Cloud IDs?”
No, when you use a XMARTO camera system, the App only takes the whole system as a single device; so it recognize only the NVR’s Cloud ID; and let you view 4 to 10 cameras simultaneously in App, just like what you see on the NVR’s screen.

Privacy tips

Does XMARTO know my device admin password?
No we don’t. The device password is a local password you set in the initial setup. We cannot know that.
If you forgot the password, the only way is to hard reset it.
About how to reset password, please contact support@xmarto.com
The hard reset can be done only by yourself, with the hardware in hand.
Does XMARTO know my App user password?
No we don’t. Any App attempts to collect user’s password will not be approved by App Store or Google Play.
If you forgot the App user password, the only way is to tap “Forget password” and follow steps to reset password, or simply create another user account.
If someone hacks my App user account, what should I do?
That never happened. But if you believe someone hacked your App user account, the 1st thing to do is tap “Forget password” in App to reset your user password; or contact support@xmarto.com to know how-to hard reset your device password. Any of the 2 password reset will lock the access immediately.

For standalone cameras, please change the device password in device setting; or hold reset button to reset the camera and set it up again.
For NVR or NVR systems, the way of hard resetting password is not public. Please contact support team with your order # to learn how to reset NVR admin password.

Relax, it’s almost impossible to happen.

UniFi Video Troubleshooting Issues with Playing and Downloading Recordings

Overview; This article provides the most common causes for issues related to playing or downloading a UniFi Video Troubleshooting recording. Please check each section carefully and compare it with your setup before moving on to the next section.

NOTES & REQUIREMENTS:

This article includes a comprehensive list of causes for users to have issues downloading or playing recordings, along with their corresponding solutions. However, in deployments where external elements are involved, the list would become virtually endless. If after troubleshooting with this guide the problem still persists, please post your question in the Community.

Include as much information about the deployment as possible: browser and browser version used, UniFi Video Controller version, what third party devices are involved, along with what you have already tried to fix this issue. There are thousands of users in the Community with installations using various third party equipment that will be the best source of information.

Not Using a Compatible Browser

UniFi Video is designed and tested to work with the stable release of Google Chrome. Although other browsers may work, reduced functionality is expected and performance may not be optimal.

Browser Extension Interference

While Google Chrome offers an impressive library of extensions, some may interfere with UniFi Video’s ability to play back live video or recordings. Try opening UniFi Video in an Incognito window by going to File > New Incognito Window on the Google Chrome top bar and browsing your NVR’s web interface, as this will disable most extensions for that browser session. If this resolves the problem, try disabling extensions in Chrome one by one until you identify which extension is causing the problem.

Insufficient Bandwidth

Because recordings are typically stored at high bitrate and high resolution, they may need to buffer and not play as smoothly when compared to viewing a camera Live View at a lower resolution when connecting over a low bandwidth connection.

The UniFi Video – Troubleshooting Low Bandwidth Warning article describes how low bandwidth will impact your ability to watch a video feed (or in this case a recording) based on where you are located.

Downloading Too Many Recordings at Once

The number of recordings that can be downloaded in bulk (by selecting several recordings and clicking Download All in the Recordings section of the UniFi Video Controller) is limited by the free space available in the temporary filesystem cache, which is typically a system RAMDisk. If you receive an error while trying to download many recordings simultaneously, try downloading less files at a time so that the .zip file generated does not exceed the size of your RAMDisk and fail to download.

Ports Not Forwarded Correctly (WAN Connection)

If accessing UniFi Video over the internet or across subnets using a direct connection, make sure that the required ports have been forwarded correctly on your firewall. Accessing via https://video.ui.com/ does not require any ports to be opened, but outbound ports must not be explicitly blocked. For a list of the ports used, please see UniFi Video – Ports Used.

Cameras are not Recording

If you believe there are specific recordings that are missing from the Events list, or a camera has not been recording as expected, please review the UniFi Video – Troubleshooting Cameras Not Recording.

Database is Inconsistent or Corrupt

In certain scenarios, a database that has inconsistent data may impede the NVR’s ability to play back or process recordings. If all prior options have been exhausted, a database reset will restore the data and structure without losing vital configuration or prior recordings.

UniFi Video – Troubleshooting an NVR that Will Not Start

Overview

This article will assist in troubleshooting an NVR that will not start: it yields a page with a “Starting Controller Services” message without ever yielding a login page.

Introduction

Generally when this occurs, it means the UniFi Video database has become corrupted. Follow the steps below to recover your system.

Steps to Recover the UniFi Video System

In certain scenarios, a database that has inconsistent data may cause this error. In most cases, database reset will be required to restore the data and structure without losing vital configuration or prior recordings.

For specific instructions, please review the article appropriate to your NVR operating system:

ATTENTION:A backup of the NVR’s configuration will be needed to retain all settings. In general, a best practice is to create a backup whenever any additional cameras have been added, a password has been changed, or there has been any other configuration change on the NVR. If at this moment a recent backup is not available, and the UniFi Video UI is inaccessible, find suitable backup files in:

/usr/lib/unifi-video/data/backups/ (UVC-NVR and Linux)

C:\ProgramData\unifi-video\data\backups (Windows)

SSH or an FTP client will be needed to obtain a backup from a UVC-NVR or Linux system.

UniFi Video – Troubleshooting Cameras Not Recording

Overview

This article describes eight possible reasons why a UniFi Video camera could stop recording. Please thoroughly check the configuration each section discusses before continuing to the next one.

NOTES & REQUIREMENTS:

This article includes a comprehensive list of causes for cameras to stop recording, along with their corresponding solutions. However, in deployments where external elements are involved, the list would become virtually endless.

If after troubleshooting with this guide the problem still persists, please post your question in the Community. Include as much information about the deployment as possible: camera models, camera firmware and UniFi Video Controller versions, what third party devices are involved, along with what you have already tried to fix this issue. There are thousands of users in the Community with installations using various third party equipment that will be the best source of information.

Camera Recording Mode not Configured

In UniFi Video, cameras must first be configured to either Always Record or Record Only Motion mode before recordings will be generated. You can view the recording mode in the Camera page of UniFi Video.

To change the recording mode:

Log in to the UniFi Video Controller and go to the Cameras section.
Open a camera’s Properties pane by clicking on the camera.
Click on the Recording tab.
Under the Configuration section, in the Record Mode dropdown, choose either Always Record or Record Only Motion, then click Save.

If Schedules are in use, verify the Schedule configuration is appropriate. You may also need to verify that the time zone is set correctly under Settings > Time & Date, and that the NVR has sufficient internet access to be able to update its time via NTP.

Inadequate Motion Sensitivity Settings

If Record Only Motion is selected, make sure that the Motion Sensitivity settings are configured in a manner adequate for the scene that is being monitored. To configure Motion Sensitivity:

Log in to the UniFi Video Controller and go to the Cameras section.
Open a camera’s Properties pane by clicking on the camera.
Click on the Recording tab.
Under the Motion Detection section (click to expand), click the Configure button in the Zones section.
In the Window that appears, verify that the motion detection zone covers the area you wish to monitor, and increase Sensitivity as needed until motion events are triggered reliably.

Remember to use the Test Zone functionality to test your settings, then click the Save button to store the changes.

Incorrect Recording Path

If the recording path is not set to a valid directory, UniFi Video will fail to store recordings. While the interface will validate that the path is correct during configuration, it is possible that the path may be incorrect after a configuration is restored from backup, or the filesystem has been changed at the OS level.

Verify that the recording path is correct under Settings > System Configuration > Recording Path.

User Tip:Remember that paths on Linux-based NVRs are case sensitive.

For reference, the default recording paths are:

Windows Custom Installs: C:\ProgramData\unifi-video\data\videos
Linux Custom Installs: /usr/lib/unifi-video/data/videos
UVC-NVR / UVC-NVR-2TB: /srv/unifi-video/videos

Recording Path has Incorrect Permissions (Linux-Based NVRs)

On Linux-based NVRs, the unifi-video user and group must be correctly assigned to the target recording directory so that UniFi Video can store recordings. The user and group can be unexpectedly changed while mounting an external device, browsing the structure using software, or making configuration changes.

To correct the permissions, SSH into the NVR and issue the following commands to re-assign all permissions correctly. Be sure to change the path as necessary to reflect your environment. The chown command may take a significant amount of time depending on the number of recordings in storage.

sudo service unifi-video stop
sudo chown -R unifi-video:unifi-video /srv/unifi-video/videos
sudo service unifi-video start

In certain cases—particularly when using network attached storage, the permissions or ownership of the root directory of the mounted storage may change. To avoid this, create a subfolder to use as a recording target and assign the appropriate permissions.

External Storage Device is Not Mounted

If external storage is used as the recording target, such as an external hard drive connected via USB or a NAS appliance, it is possible that the device has unexpectedly become unmounted. In some cases, the storage may not successfully mount after the NVR is rebooted, or the device may become unavailable during operation due to a disconnect, network issue, or configuration change.

Access the storage path on the NVR via SSH or Windows Explorer as applicable, and verify that the expected storage size is available and the storage is correctly mounted with appropriate permissions. In certain scenarios it is possible that UniFi Video may be writing to the local mount path while the storage device is unmounted, effectively consuming storage on the root or C:\ drive and interfering with the mount process.

System is in Emergency Shutdown State

If the available free space in the target recording directory is less than the Space to Keep Free setting, UniFi Video will enter Emergency Shutdown mode to maintain stability. In this mode, no new recordings will be stored to disk. Emergency Shutdown mode will be indicated as a log entry in server.log. To troubleshoot this issue:

Verify the video storage paths, as detailed above.
Verify that the Space to Keep Free storage retention settings are configured appropriately considering the size and configuration of your storage. Go to Settings > click the System Configuration button > Configure tab > Space to Keep Free and modify the slider accordingly. The UVC-NVR / UVC-NVR-2TB use a default setting of 10GB and 40GB respectfully.
Perform a Database Analysis, with Restore Recordings enabled. This feature can be accessed from Settings > System Configuration > Tools. Be sure to check Restore Recordings, then click Analyze. This is particularly important after restoring a configuration backup in order to import old recordings so they can be added to the purge rotation to free space.

If the Emergency Shutdown state persists, review the server.log and purge.log file for further entries that may describe the cause.

RAMDisk is Not Configured Correctly (Windows NVR)

If UniFi Video is unable to store inbound video segments to the temporary cache, recordings will not be processed. Verify that the RAMDisk has been correctly configured, is mounted with sufficient space (minimum 3GB), and that the path has been properly set in system.properties.

Database is Inconsistent or Corrupt

In certain scenarios, a database that has inconsistent data may impede the NVR’s ability to process recordings. If all prior options have been exhausted, a database reset will restore the data and structure without losing vital configuration or prior recordings.

UniFi Video – Troubleshooting Cloud Connections

Overview

This article includes the most common issues that arise with UniFi Video connections done over the cloud. Cloud connections with UniFi Video are those done via https://video.ui.com/.

NVR Doesn’t Appear When Accessing Via Cloud

After logging in to https://video.ui.com, a prompt to Select NVR with a list of NVR options should appear. If an NVR is missing from that list, follow these steps:

NOTE:This only applies if for NVRs that have previously been adopted to Ubiquiti Cloud. Otherwise the appropriate step would be to click on Set Up New NVR.

Solution Steps

Log in to your UVC-NVR locally via its IP address. If you don’t know what the IP address of the NVR is, find it using the Ubiquiti Discovery Tool (Download Chrome App).
Verify that you are logged in with the email address of the Super Admin as seen in the Users section of the UniFi Video Controller.
Check to make sure the NVR is still adopted via the NVR UI in Settings.

Cannot Connect to NVR Via Cloud

After the NVR has been successfully adopted via video.ui.com, if the NVR is inaccessible via Cloud, determine the NVR has a red or green status icon in video.ui.com. The red or green status indicates whether or not the NVR is connected to the Ubiquiti cloud. Many times, even an NVR with a red (disconnected) status could still be fully functional, aside from the loss of Cloud access.

Solution Steps

Red Status. This means that your NVR is not reaching out to Cloud. Follow these steps to troubleshoot:

Check the UI Status page to see if there is any issue on our side.
Verify that the name of the NVR as shown in the UniFi Video Controller’s Settings matches how it appears in video.ui.com.
If the NVR in question was restored from another UVC-NVR, it should be re-adopted. To do so, select the NVR that is inaccessible and click “Remove selected NVR”. Then proceed to re-adopt the NVR to the Cloud.

Green Status.

If your NVR has a green status, but you still cannot connect to your NVR, that means the the NVR is connected to Ubiquiti Cloud, but the device being used and the NVR can’t reach each other. See this guide for best networking practices: UniFi-Video – Ports Used to fix this issue.

Issues Adopting NVR to Cloud

Solution Steps

Make sure that all outbound Ports from the NVR are open and available, as per UniFi-Video – Ports Used.
This functionality makes use of some special features of ES6. It is recommended to use Google Chrome for best results.
Try clearing the browser cache and try an incognito window as well. Some browser extensions may interfere with this functionality.

UniFi Video – Troubleshooting Camera Disconnects

Overview

This article provides several possibilities to test when facing a camera that will disconnect for no apparent reason.

Introduction

UniFi Video cameras may disconnect from the NVR for a variety of reasons. Identifying whether the behavior affects specific cameras or all of them, whether the disconnects follow a pattern (such as disconnecting during sunset), or simply remain disconnected, will help identify the root cause of the issue.

Most importantly, consider if the camera disconnections warrant troubleshooting in the first place. Often camera disconnects can be triggered by changes made to the network, such as disconnecting a cable, restarting a switch, changing configurations, or even a power outage. Comparing the timestamp of the disconnect with the events and alerts from your UniFi Controller or network hardware may reveal the cause.

For cases where further investigation is required, this article discusses the common causes for camera disconnects.

Faulty Cable Infrastructure

Faulty wired infrastructure may cause unpredictable behavior, including camera disconnects or random reboots. Even though a camera may initially establish a network connection when first installed, a damaged or unreliable signal path can present problems that don’t become apparent until external factors such as interference, vibration, temperature fluctuations or further wear and tear affect the cabling.

The easiest way to quickly rule out wired infrastructure faults is to remove the camera from it’s installed location, and connect it using a short, known-good patch cable to the same switch that the NVR is connected. If the problem is resolved, then the issue is either related to the network hardware between your NVR and cameras (network switches, wireless links, etc), power related (as discussed below), or network cable related.

Problems caused by faulty network cabling are often seen in conjunction with:

Long cable runs (exceeding the 100 meter maximum)
Poor quality or damaged cable
Faulty or incorrect RJ45 terminations
Not using outdoor rated STP cable when appropriate
ESD damage, due to improper grounding / shielding

Inadequate Power Supply

UniFi Cameras require a stable power supply in order to operate reliably. If the camera does not receive enough power, the camera may behave erratically causing disconnects.

A common symptom of a camera that doesn’t receive adequate power is when the device disconnects around sunset, as the camera will switch to night mode thus enabling the IR LEDs which more than double the power draw. Additionally, if a single power source is supplying multiple devices simultaneously, one or more devices may not boot properly after a cold start such as a power outage.

The power draw requirement for each camera model is documented in the product Data Sheet, which is downloadable in our Downloads page or at the bottom of each model’s page when navigating from our products page. Keep in mind that the cabling and associated infrastructure between the power source and the camera will generate resistance increasing the amount of power used and should be factored into the total wattage required from the power source. The length and quality of cable, quality of terminations, and additional in-line connections such as a patch panel should be considered.

To test if inadequate power is the root cause of camera disconnects, uninstall the camera from its mounting location and connect it to a suitable power supply such as a PoE switch or PoE injector using a short, known-good patch cable. Cover the light sensor typically located on the front of the camera in order to trigger a switch to night mode and turn on the IR LEDs or leave it overnight to go through a full 24 hour cycle.

If powering multiple devices off a PoE-IN switch such as a NanoSwitch, factor in the power draw of all connected devices, the power consumption of the switch itself, and estimate loss from cabling infrastructure. A NanoSwitch will typically require at least a 24V 1A PoE injector in order to power more than one camera or a camera and an airMAX radio.

If powering the cameras using a PoE switch, verify that the connected devices are not exceeding the total power budget available from the switch. A PoE switch should generally not be operated near its maximum power rating, as headroom should be allowed for the increased draw during startup.

If powering a camera using a PoE injector or an Instant 802.3af adapter, verify that the injector and adapter are adequate for the camera, and if necessary test using a different known-good injector or adapter. Instant 802.3af adapters in particular may work best if installed on the camera-side of the network cable, rather than at the switch.

Cabling infrastructure problems may also be a source of power related symptoms, and the troubleshooting steps from the previous section should be followed.

Unreliable Wireless Connection

If the camera is connected to the network via a wireless connection, as would be the case of a G3-Micro, or when using external hardware like an airMAX radio as a client, verify that the wireless connection is stable enough to sustain the connection.

To help determine if the wireless connection is the cause for your disconnects, consider moving the camera or client radio within a few feet of the access point (AP). If the connection stabilizes, then the wireless connection needs to be addressed. Even if the connectivity issue persists, the wireless connection should still be investigated.

Factors that may cause frequent wireless disconnects include:

Low wireless signal (SNR), as read either by the AP or the client (or camera)
High interference (noise) caused by external sources, such as non-802.11 networks, machinery or appliances
High wireless channel saturation, caused by high client density or nearby networks on the same channel

To improve the wireless connection, you can:

Move the camera or the AP closer to each other, in order to reduce the distance and improve the wireless signal.
Move the camera or the AP away from sources of interference, such as microwaves or cordless phone bases.
Change the wireless network channel to one with lower utilization and fewer networks. You can use Ubiquiti’s WiFiman mobile application (available for iOS and Android) to identify channels with less networks, or UniFi’s built-in RF Environment scan.
Install an additional AP closer to the camera on a separate channel, in order to reduce the wireless network load and improve the connection quality.

IP Address Conflicts

If the camera and another device on the network have the same IP address configured, it may cause the camera to frequently connect and disconnect. This will occur as the NVR will receive conflicting information as to what MAC address is associated with a specific IP address and as a result, NVR and camera traffic will be incorrectly routed to the wrong device.

If the camera IP address has been manually configured, verify that the IP chosen is outside of the DHCP scope configured for the subnet on your router.
Make sure that no other device on the network has been configured with the same IP address, either manually in the device configuration, or via a DHCP reservation (Static IP assignment) in the UniFi Controller or third-party router.

Inconsistent Camera Authentication or Configuration

Incorrect credentials, bad certificates, or other configuration related issues may cause connection failures and repeat disconnects from a camera. This is typically easily resolved by resetting and re-managing the camera:

In UniFi Video webUI, navigate to the Cameras section, and click on the corresponding camera to open the configuration pane.
Select the Manage tab and click Unmanage to expand the section. Click the Unmanage button and confirm.

User Tip:In some browsers if there is another subsection expanded in the Manage tab, when you click on Unmanage it seems like nothing is happening. Collapse all other sections by clicking on them and try again.
In a new browser tab, open the camera’s web interface by browsing to the camera’s IP address as seen in the camera’s configuration pane.
Log into the camera interface using ubnt as the username. Depending on whether the camera was able to reconnect after it was unmanaged, the password may have been reset to ubnt, or you may need to use the Camera Password as configured in UniFi Video’s Settings page.
Take note of the network configuration settings if necessary, then proceed to factory reset the camera.
Once the reset is complete, re-manage the camera and verify configuration and connectivity.

Installation Environment

In rare circumstances, cameras that are installed in extreme conditions may experience overheating and become disconnected from the controller. Refer to the maximum environmental temperature rating for your camera model if the camera is installed in a high temperature location and relocate if necessary.

Low Bandwidth Warning

Overview

This article describes a few options to improve slow video streams which trigger the “Low Bandwidth” warning on the UniFi Video live view.

Introduction

Streaming is a very intense process for any machine. Even with newer and newer hardware, it is difficult to keep up with the demand for real time video in most use cases. This article includes a few pointers on what to check to determine the cause of the slow video stream(s) that triggers the Low Bandwidth warning in UniFi Video Live View.

This warning will appear if the client machine (i.e. computer where Live View is being used) is struggling to keep up with the demand for video decoding, or if the NVR hardware is slowing down due to some CPU intensive process. It does not necessarily mean the camera or NVR have low bandwidth.

ATTENTION:If you do not see the Low Bandwidth message like in the picture above, skip to step 2.

Step 1: Network Troubleshooting

In most cases the upload speed of one of the elements in the network is the culprit of triggering a Low Bandwidth warning. Always perform a thorough troubleshooting as described in this section first, before moving on to troubleshoot the camera.

Check the upload speed. Check the machine’s connection to the NVR—specifically the NVR’s effective upload speed. If the NVR is separated over the internet (WAN) then that network’s upload speed is a factor. You’ll need to make sure your network speed is up to the task. The following diagram shows a scenario where the UBNT cloud or port forwarding is being used to reach the NVR.

Notice the numbered connections from the camera all the way to the mobile, where a user is viewing the live video. Any one of these five connections could be the cause of the slow stream. In other words, the slowest upload speed of any of these will be the maximum speed available for the video stream.

In this second scenario, a local machine is used to view the video streams from the NVR, so the path from camera to user is shorter. Again, any of these connections can be the cause of low bandwidth. Check what the speed of each one is to determine if one of them is the cause. Typically, we find step 4 to be the culprit: make sure to check your WAN upload speed with your internet provider.

Step 2: Camera Troubleshooting

In the vast majority of cases, the Low Bandwidth warning is related to upload speeds and would become evident once the investigation mentioned in the section above is performed. In rare cases the issue will be related with the cameras. There are three ways this error could appear:

On one camera stream
On multiple camera streams
On all camera streams

One Camera Stream

If symptoms only exhibit on one camera, it’s most likely a connection issue, or camera firmware issue. Try the following:

Reboot the camera.
Make sure the camera’s firmware is up to date.
Try swapping the camera’s ethernet cable, port, and uplink switch to cover all bases.

Multiple Camera Streams

1. If the same cameras present symptoms every time, it is likely a camera connection, or camera firmware issue. Try to establish a commonality between the cameras:

1.1 Are they on the same Switch? Test one of them on another switch or compatible POE injector.

1.2. Are they on another LAN? Make sure ports 7442 and 6666 are open to the NVR.

1.3. Are they on the same firmware? Try manually uploading a new firmware from our Downloads page on one of the cameras.

2. If symptoms appear on different cameras every time, it’s most likely a client-side processing issue. In other words, the computer used to view the video stream. To verify: open Task Manager (Windows) or the Activity Monitor app (macOS) and view the computer’s CPU usage.

You should be looking at the stats for the browser used to run UniFi Video. Mobile devices don’t always include a CPU monitor, you may have to install an app that functions as one. Alternatively, you can test on a computer to verify if the Low Bandwidth message appears, if it doesn’t, then the issue is with the mobile’s CPU is very probable that the phone’s CPU usage is at a very hione, or you can test the connection on a computer first to determine if the mobile’s speed is the problem.

All Camera Streams

In most cases this is indicative of a poor connection or a slow client-side CPU. Make sure to check the client’s CPU usage using the same instructions shown above, both before and after opening the video stream.

How to Reset a Camera to Factory Default Settings

Overview

There are two ways to reset your camera. The recommended method is to physically reset the device by using the reset button on the camera. Resetting via the WebUI is also possible in most cases. Find both processes described below.

Introduction

If you are unable to manage or otherwise configure a camera, it’s likely it will need to be reset back to factory settings. Once the reset has been completed, the camera login credentials should revert back to ‘ubnt’ for both the username and password.

Physical Reset

The reset button’s location will vary from model to model. Please check the camera’s Quick Start Guide to find its specific location. QSGs can be found in the Downloads page. Use a paper clip or a similar object to push the button within the small reset hole.

While the camera is powered on, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
Release the button (the LEDs will stop glowing).
Do not disconnect the camera from its power source during the reboot process.
The camera will restore factory settings after a few minutes.

Camera WebUI Reset

Although the physical reset is the recommended method of taking your camera back to factory defaults, sometimes a WebUI reset can be more convenient. Find the camera’s IP address via WiFiman, or UniFi Video and then follow the steps below:

Connect to the camera’s IP address in your browser, and log in.
Go into the System tab.
Under the Maintenance section you will see the link for Reset to Defaults.
Click it and wait for your camera to be reset. Don’t unplug the device during this process.

How to Factory Reset an NVR Appliance

Overview

This article explains how to reset an NVR Appliance to its original factory settings.

NOTES & REQUIREMENTS:

The following guide is based on UniFi Video version 3.1.x and later.
Factory resetting an NVR will remove all previous management settings and video data. Any custom configuration changes applied by the system administrator will be lost, such as file-systems mounted on iSCSI volumes or locally attached external disk drives.
The default IP address of the NVR appliance is 192.168.1.30 (but will retrieve a DHCP-assigned address if a DHCP server is present).

Introduction

There are three methods to factory reset your NVR: via Graphical User Interface, Command Line Interface, or the reset button on the actual device. After resetting your NVR to factory defaults, please follow this article to bring it back to current firmware: UniFi Video – How to Update the NVR via SSH.

Graphical User Interface (GUI)

Open the NVR landing page in a browser (http:///). You do not need to include the default port “7443” as the NVR hardware itself is what will be managed, not UniFi Video.
Click on the gear icon on the upper right hand corner of the page to access the Configure Device page.
Log in as “root” system account (username/password should be either ubnt/ubnt or root/ubnt). If you’ve changed this password, and don’t have it anymore, proceed to the Hard (physical) reset method.
Navigate to the Maintenance tab.
Click “Reset to Defaults” button next to “Reset To Factory Defaults:”
Re-open the NVR landing page in a browser (http:///).

Command Line Interface (CLI)

Open a shell session to the NVR appliance e.g. ssh root@
Enter the following command-line
nvr-systool reset2defaults
Re-open the NVR landing page in a browser (http:///).

For more options, type nvr-systool --help to list other administrative parameters. The nvr-systool is used by the NVR management console where this CLI approach is equivalent to the GUI steps.

Hard (Physical) Reset

Press and hold the Reset button (the crescent moon button) located below the Power button for 10+ seconds. The device will take up to 60+ seconds to restore the default configuration and return to the original factory version.
Re-open the NVR landing page in a browser (http:///).

UVC-Micro/G3-Micro Recovery

Overview

This article demonstrates how to recover a UVC-Micro and UVC-G3-Micro.

Introduction

The methods described in this article are comparable to a TFTP recovery done on a UVC, UVC-Dome, or UAP for example. The difference is that the UVC-Micro does not have an Ethernet interface, therefore, there is no direct way to interface with the unit via TFTP. Instead, the UVC-Micro makes use of the SD-Card slot on the back of the unit. In the case of the UVC-G3-Micro, on-board storage is used instead.

Steps: UVC-G3-Micro Recovery

Disconnect power from the UVC-Micro.
Insert a paperclip or similarly narrow object in to the reset hole on the opposing side of the LED and press down.
Continue holding this button while you apply power to the UVC-Micro. The LED will turn on and remain steady.

User Tip:Hold the camera in one hand, and the paperclip pressing the button in the other. Have the magnetic base on a flat surface with the power adapter connected to the base. Slowly lower the camera over the base. The magnet will snap on, applying power. Be careful not to release the button.
After approximately 15-20 seconds, the LED will flash once. This is the indicator that the reset button may be released.
After an additional 30 seconds or so, the UVC-Micro will start emitting a tone indicating that the camera is in a default state and is ready to be provisioned.

Steps: UVC-Micro Recovery

NOTES & REQUIREMENTS:

If performing this recovery with a Windows computer, it will be necessary to download and install Win32 Disk Imager (Free). The firmware binary can be obtained from the firmware downloads page, or the Video Controller in the following places:

Windows: C:\ProgramData\unifi-video\fw\A5S\
Linux: /usr/lib/unifi-video/fw/A5S/

*The filename has been intentionally omitted as it will change depending on the software installed. There will be only one file in this folder.

Insert a microSD card (20MB or larger).

WARNING:Contents will be overwritten. Please back up any contents that you wish to retain.
Write the firmware file to the microSD card. For Windows, see Note 1 below. For Linux & Mac, see Note 2 below.
1. If using Windows follow this process:If using Windows, copy the .bin file to the same folder, then rename the copied .bin to have an extension of .img instead of .bin. Use Win32 Disk Imager to write the image to the drive letter of the microSD card. Your result should look like this:
  
  Where:
  
  D:/Downloads/UVC.gen2.v3.1.0.38-devel.89002e2.150421.2034.img would be a firmware binary renamed to have a .img file extension
  
  [I:\] is the drive letter assigned to this microSD card by Windows. Then, all that is left is to click the Write button.
2. If using Linux or Mac OS X follow this process:If using Mac or Linux, the dd command is used:
```
dd if=/path/to/firmware/file.bin of=/path/to/microsd/card bs=8M; sync
```
  Root privileges may be required to be able to use dd. If this is the case, issue the following command prior to the dd command:
```
sudo su -
```
  To find the path to your microSD card (what follows the “of=” part in the command above), you can use diskutil (Mac) or dmesg or fdisk (Linux). Here are options for both Mac and Linux.
Unmount and remove the microSD card from the computer.
Disconnect power from the UVC-Micro.
Insert the microSD card into the spring-loaded slot in the back of the UVC-Micro.
Insert a paperclip or similarly narrow object in to the reset hole on the opposing side of the LED and press down.
Continue holding the reset button while you apply power to the UVC-Micro. The LED will turn on and remain steady.

User Tip:Hold the camera in one hand, and the paperclip pressing the button in the other. Have the magnetic base on a flat surface with the power adapter connected to the base. Slowly lower the camera over the base. The magnet will snap on, applying power. Be careful not to release the button.
After approximately 15-20 seconds, the LED will flash once. This is the indicator that the reset button may be released.
After an additional 30 seconds or so, the camera will start emitting a tone indicating that it’s in a default state and is ready to be provisioned.
To reuse the microSD card, insert it back into the computer and reformat it.

How to Adopt a Remote Camera that is not Displaying in the NVR

Overview

This article helps troubleshoot a remote camera that is not appearing in UniFi Video.

NOTES & REQUIREMENTS:

This procedure is not necessaryif all devices are on the same Layer 2 Network, or Broadcast domain.
UniFi Video v3.1.5 is the last version that supports airCam models.

Introduction

This article is useful if your cameras are on a different network than your NVR, or are otherwise not appearing in your NVR’s camera list. There are two methods to adopt directly, Manual adoption, or Token Adoption. Token adoption is faster than Manual Adoption, especially when configuring multiple cameras.

Steps: Manual Adoption

Navigate to the camera’s web interface by entering its IP address in the browser.
The default username and password is ubnt/ubnt. (If unsuccessful try root/ubnt)
Enter the IP address of the NVR in the UniFi Video server field.

5. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

6. Return to the NVR web interface by entering the NVR’s IP address in the browser.

7. On the Cameras view, enable the Unmanaged filter and locate the camera.

8. Proceed to adopt the camera.

Steps: Token Adoption

Navigate to the NVR’s Settings page.
If the Camera Adoption Token field is empty, click NEW TOKEN.

ATTENTION:The token is only valid for 30 minutes, it will then disappear.
Navigate to the camera’s web interface by entering its IP address in the browser.
Enter the IP address of the NVR in the UniFi Video server field.
Enter the Adoption Token in the Adoption Token field.
Click SAVE CHANGES. The Camera will automatically be adopted to your NVR.

How to Reset a UniFi Video Installation for Windows

Overview

This article will outline how to reset a UniFi Video installation and how to restore recordings under the Windows operating system. The article for resetting a Linux installation (or our hardware NVR), can be found here.

NOTES & REQUIREMENTS:

Please note that this will clear out all settings and managed cameras but therecordings will remain. If you do not restore a configuration backup, it will be necessary to re-manage the cameras, set up motion zones/sensitivities, reconnect the install to the cloud, etc. This method should only be used after a database repair has been attempted and been advised by a Ubiquiti employee.

Steps to Reset a UFV Installation

For versions 3.10.1 or Earlier:

1. If you wish to restore your current configuration after the reset, ensure you have a configuration backup, or generate one from the Settings page in UniFi Video before proceeding.

2. Shutdown UniFi Video via the notification area icon.

3. Run Notepad as an Administrator.

ATTENTION:Do not use a rich text editor such as Word, or Wordpad when editing configuration files, as they will add hidden characters that may prevent UniFi Video to load the file correctly.

4. Select File > Open and navigate to C:\ProgramData\unifi-video\data\system.properties

NOTE: The C:\ProgramData\ directory is hidden by default, so you may need to type in the path or configure Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders.

Make sure to select All Files near the bottom right of your window to see the system.properties file.

5. Locate the line that reads:

is_default=false

and change it to:

is_default=true

6. Restart UniFi Video via the notification area icon.

7. It will take a moment to wipe out the database and restart the web service.

8. Access the install as usual (https://[Your UniFi-Video IP address]:7443). The complete process of how to access the initial setup wizard can be found in the UniFi Video User Guide.

9. The initial setup wizard will appear. Either restore the backup saved prior to recover your configuration or complete the configuration wizard to configure the system.

10. As always, the first thing you should do after completing the wizard is to go to Settings > NVR Settings > Configure tab and check your storage path as well as the ‘Space to Keep Free’ setting.

For versions 3.10.2 or Later:

If you wish to restore your current configuration after the reset, ensure you have a configuration backup. You can generate one from the Settings page in UniFi Video.
Navigate to Settings > System Configuration > Configure > Tools > Controller – Check the Reset Box, and Click the Restart button. (You will need to be the Super Administrator to see this option.)
After a couple minutes, The initial setup wizard should appear (you may need to refresh your browser) – Either restore the backup saved prior to recover your configuration or complete the configuration wizard to configure the system.
As always, the first thing you should do after completing the wizard is go to Settings > NVR Settings > Configure tab and check your storage path as well as the “Space to Keep Free” setting.

Steps to Restore Recordings

The following methods demonstrate how to restore recordings.

ATTENTION:Please note that the analysis tool may actually remove the recordings. It is recommended to make a backup of your recordings prior to performing these steps.

For versions 3.9.0 or later:

Go to Settings > NVR Settings > Configure tab > Expand Tools section.
Check the “Restore Recordings” option, and click ANALYZE:

For versions 3.8.5 or earlier:

Edit the system.properties file (C:\ProgramData\unifi-video\data\system.properties) and add the following to the bottom:
recording.recovery=true
Restart the UniFi Video service via service unifi-video restart.
Log in to the web interface.
Go to Settings > NVR Settings > Configure tab > Expand Tools section > Click the Analyze button. Your recordings will only restore if the storage path is correct.
Restoring recordings can take some time (anywhere from 30 minutes to 5+ hours depending on how many you have). You can continue to use the system as normal, as well as continue to manage your cameras and set up your configuration, but make sure you stay logged in while the analysis is complete. A simple way to do this would be to open a Live Feed from a camera or a Live View to prevent the system from logging you out.

For versions 3.10.1 or Earlier:

SSH into the UniFi Video server or hardware NVR.
Edit /usr/lib/unifi-video/data/system.properties
- You can use vi, nano, or pico to do this. However, on our hardware NVR, vi is the only text editor. You can quickly install nano by executing apt-get update; apt-get upgrade; apt-get install nano; apt-get clean
Locate the line that reads: is_default=false and change it to: is_default=true
Restart UniFi Video service unifi-video restart
It will take a moment to wipe out the database and restart the web service.

Recovering an Inaccessible Camera

Overview

In the event you need to perform a reset or a recovery, the camera can be restored by following this guide.

Introduction

TFTP Recovery is useful for cameras that become unmanageable: they might turn on but have no WebUI access or simply unresponsive. TFTP Recovery is a last resort type of troubleshooting: attempt this when the usual troubleshooting didn’t fix the issue. The device must be able to turn on for this method to work. Some basic configuration on the computer will be needed and inputting commands via CLI.

For UVC-G2 Cameras – TFTP Recovery

1. Locate the correct firmware file on disk.

2. Copy that firmware file to your current users home directory, using the path found in step 1:

cp /path/to/firmware.bin ~/

3. Unplug the PoE cable from the camera.

4. Configure the computer to use a static IP/netmask on 192.168.1.254/255.255.255.0 subnet.

5. Start a ping to 192.168.1.20.

6. Press and hold the Reset button, then power on the camera.

7. Wait at least 10 seconds (until both LEDs flash once) or until a ping response from 192.168.1.20 resumes.

8. Release the Reset button to keep this unit in TFTP mode.

9. Upload the firmware file using the tftp command.

ATTENTION:Replace firmware in the command below with the correct name from steps 1-2.

tftp 192.168.1.20; bin; put ~/firmware.bin

This command may need to change depending on your Operating system. This will work in macOS and most Linux OS’s but your operating system may make use of other methods.

9. After the new firmware bin file is uploaded to the camera, the device will automatically reboot, update the firmware, and reset the unit to factory defaults.

For UVC-G3 Cameras and G4 – POR Recovery

For UVC-Gen3 cameras, the recovery process does not make use of TFTP, and is therefore much simpler. If this process is not successful on your G3/G4 cameras, please try the steps above for G2 models.

1. Unplug the PoE cable from the camera.

2. Press and hold the Reset button, then power on the camera.

3. Wait at least 10 seconds, or until you see the LED’s flash rapidly, 3 times.

4. Release the Reset button.

5. The device will now automatically reboot to an older firmware.

6. To update to more recent firmware. Go to our Downloads page, find your specific camera model using the left hand menu, and copy the .bin file link of the firmware. Use that link to upload it via the webUI of the camera, in System Settings. Alternatively, you may adopt the camera to your NVR to perform upgrade via the NVR-hosted UniFi Video user interface.
