WiFi Camera 3rd Gen setup via Green Feathers app

This guide shows you how to set up your WiFi Bird Box Camera, Solar Powered WiFi Camera, or Garden Wildlife Camera on WiFi

.

Before you begin

Test the WiFi signal strength by taking your smartphone/tablet to the site where you plan to install your camera; if it has a weak signal at the installation site then the camera may struggle to maintain a connection (see section 9 Hints & Tips at the bottom of the guide for help with WiFi signal strength)
.

Insert a micro SD card if you have one; hold the camera with the lens facing up, then insert the micro SD card with the metal contacts facing up. Push it in fully until you feel it click into place. If you have trouble inserting the SD card to the point where it clicks into place, hold it down with your thumb then use a thin object like a pen to push it down fully
.

Before you mount the camera in the bird box, make sure it’s connected to your WiFi router and can be viewed on the app. It’s best to set the camera up when it’s plugged in a different room to your router, then once it’s connected you can unplug it and install it in the final location

Ensure the device being used to set up the camera is connected to the same WiFi network that you want the camera to be connected to (this is only required for the setup process)

Make sure you know the name and password of the WiFi network which the camera will be connected to

Make sure that you are connecting the camera to a 2.4GHz WiFi signal; if you don’t know what this is you can read more here

Plug in the power supply into the trailing cable of the camera; after the camera has powered on you will hear a three note chime, and the camera will start saying “Wait for WiFi config”

Remove the lens cap on the camera, if it has one, and remove the cap on the reset button

Let’s get started

To get started, open the app:

1. Registering an account

Tap ‘Sign Up’ to create an account, then select ‘Agree’ for the ‘User Agreement and Privacy Policy’. If you have already signed up then skip below to the section called ‘Adding the camera to the app’.

Once your account is all setup, just log in to the app!
.

2. Adding the camera to the app

The first time you go to the Home page, you can choose to allow the app to use your device location. This is not essential, but helps with some features. Next, click the green ‘+’ icon at the top right of the screen.

Now select the model of camera you are setting up, then select “QR mode”:

3. Setting to QR mode and resetting the camera

Follow the instructions on the app or below to reset the camera.

Now tick ‘Next step’ and select ‘Next’.

4. Entering the WiFi details

Now you need to enter the details of the WiFi network that you want the camera to connect to. The name of the WiFi network which your phone or tablet is connected to should be automatically filled in, so just enter the password. To change the WiFi network your device is connected to, tap the icon to the right of the WiFi name:

5. Scanning the QR code

When you select ‘Next’, the app will display a QR code to you. Point the camera 15-20cm away from the QR code, directly facing the screen, and the camera should register it and say ‘Connect router’. When it says this, tap the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button.

If the camera is not scanning the QR code, try slowly increasing or decreasing the distance between the camera and phone screen to bring the QR code into focus. It can sometimes be easier with the phone placed on a flat surface to help keep the camera pointed in the right direction while slowly moving it.

It is also possible to re-adjust the focus on the lens which can be done by gently twisting it. The nut around the bottom of the lens will need loosening first. It is best to adjust the lens a small amount at a time as it shouldn’t be far out of focus.

After you have tapped the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button, the app should automatically begin connecting to the camera.

After a minute or so, it should have found the camera and added it to the app, you can set a name for the camera now, or later on in the settings menu.

6. Troubleshooting

If the camera does not connect to your WiFi:

If you have connected it to your internet router, but it shows the message ‘Establishing encrypted channel‘ and doesn’t load: 

Remember, this guide only applies to the 3rd Gen NCIP3WF which was released in December 2020, if you have an older model of the camera have a look at our guide for the NCIP9WF or for the NCIP2WF. If you are unsure which camera you have, have a look at this article.

7. Adding and renaming the camera

Now you can rename the camera by tapping the pencil icon to the right of the camera name. Once it is added, to view the camera go back to the ‘Home’ page using the icon at the bottom left then select your camera from the list.

Let’s get started

To get started, open the app:

1. Registering an account

2. Selecting the connection method

On the Home page, click the green ‘+’ icon at the top right of the screen.

Select the type of camera that you have from the grid shown, for wired setup it will either be Garden Wildlife Camera or Wired Bird Box Camera.

Now select Ethernet mode and follow through the prompts that show on the screen to connect your camera.

The app will start searching for your camera with a 2minute count down, once it has been found you will be presented with the screen below.

Once the circle has filled and the camera is connected to the network, you can set a name for the camera by tapping on it.

If the camera does not connect at this stage, try going through the wired setup steps again without resetting the camera.

5. Resetting the camera

1. Power on the device and wait for it to play three notes to indicate it has started up
2. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds; you will hear it say ‘Reset, camera reboot’.
3. When the camera starts saying ‘Wait for Wi-Fi config’ or has a flashing red indicator light, tick ‘Next step’. Once your camera has been reset you can re-connect it to Wi-Fi.

What is iCSee?

iCSee is a mobile application designed for remote video surveillance. What is iCSee camera?

iCSee Camera refers to any camera compatible with the iCSee mobile application.

Can my camera be connected to iCSee?

iCSee was developed by Xmeye, a company that specializes in security surveillance and video intelligence research and development. They focus on providing technical services, and solutions in the security monitoring field, including various modules, main boards, software, and cloud services.

So, generally speaking, only cameras using Xmeye module solutions can be adapted to iCSee app.

How to install iCSee for PC?

Wired cameras can be accessed on PC by downloading the VMS software. But, for Macbook users, the software currently only supports local area network connection.

For wireless cameras, it is recommended to connect through mobile devices, as accessing via PC may result in connection timeouts or instability.

How to install iCSee app for mobile devices?

Register/Login

1.Open”iCSee” app, click “sign up” then use the phone number or mailbox to register account.

2.Register successfully, enter your phone number or mail number in the login interface, enter the password, login your app.

3.You can also use the wechat, facebook, line or the temporary visit to login app.

[Auto-pairing] WiFi Network Configuration

Note: camera can support 2.4G wifi for the time being, doesn’t support 5Gwifi, plz set the router parameter to2.4G first before configuring network, during the connection, phone,router and camera need keep within the 2m distance

1.Phone connect to the wifi network.

2.Click the “+”in the upper right corner click the “Add WiFi camera” according to the device’s voice prompt, follow the app interface guide to enter router’s password,click “confirm” start to configure network(if the device doesn’t appear voice prompt for a long time, you can long press the reset to restore default, then go on to configure network).

3. Enter the search device’s interface, the device is in the connection process, plz wait.

※ Program search, do not operate other programs ;

※ When the camera prompts “succes  sfully connected to router”, it will automatically go to the next step.

※ The camera fails to hear the prompt “succes sfully connect to router”. Please restore factory Settings and match again.

4. After connecting successfully ,interface will prompt to set device’s password and name for your device, after finishing, follow the app interface guide to complete network configuration .

5. After finishing, device will show in the device’s list, it represent the device is connecting successfully.

6. Click it you can view the monitoring image, and do the relevant operation and setting.

Note: Movement tracking is only for indoor ip cameras , bullet ip camera and dome cameras do not have this function

Note: If the automatic etwork configuration fails, you can choose the following two methods to configure the device

The second type: [Manual configuration] Wired network

1. Long press the camera Reset button for 10 seconds to restore the device to factory settings .

2. Connect your router to camera via network cable.

3. Connect phone to your router wifi network.

4. Login “iCSee” app, click the “+”in the upper right corner, and click “more” in the upper right corner.

5. click “Add the camera on same router.

6. Enter search device interface, click searched camera to add device,device will show in the device’s list, which represent device connect successfully.

7. Click it to view the monitoring image, also can do the relevant operation and setting

Manual configuration: AP netless direct connection mode

When there is no network in the installation environment, please select the following pairing method;

 1. Long press the camera Reset button for 10 seconds to restore the device to factory settings .

2. Short press the camera Reset button 2-5 to enter the direct connection mode (most devices will voice prompt “enter direct connection mode”).

3. Open the mobile phone desktop-settings-wireless network, search for the device wireless hotspot name, Enter the wireless password:1234567890, connect to the wireless hotspot of the device;

Indoor IP Camera hot spot name: robot_xxxx;

Other kind of camera hot spot names: camera_xxxx;

Tips:

AP hotspot mode is only used for installation when there is no network in the environment, and cannot be remotely monitored,can only be accessed within 10 meters of the establishment of the hotspot!

4. Open the ‘iCSee’ APP, and directly add the device in the local direct connection mode.

5. The device is displayed on the device list interface, which means that the device is successfully connected.

6. Click the ‘Play’ button to enter the monitoring screen and perform related operations and settings.

7. If you have already registered an account to log in, please click the “+” sign at the top right, and click the “AP direct connection” mode to add.

How to set up mobile tracking？

Note: Mobile tracking and smart humanoid alert can’t be used at the same time;

●Click the “Mobile Tracking” switch buttonin the preview interface to turn on the corresponding function;

●Motion tracking: when it’s on, as long as an object enters the camera’s illumination range, camera will track the moving trajectory;

●Watch Point: set a fixed position, when the camera is operating or tracking, it will automatically return to the set position after staying for a period of time;

How to set the dual-ligh tal ert mode Star light full color？

Note: Mobile tracking and smart humanoid alert can’t be used at the same time;

Open the ‘iCSee’, click the ‘real-time playback’ , click or slide to the “light” or the “bulb” icon in the screen to open the setting screen;

●Night colored lights：When the light is insufficient, the white light will start, and the image will be colorful;

●Infrared night vision： When the light is insufficient, the infrared light is activated and the image becomes black and white;

●Double light alert：When the light is insufficient, the infrared light will be activated. When someone enters the monitoring screen, the white light will be triggered and the image will be colorful.
After a few seconds when the person walks away, the infrared mode will be switched on and the image will become black and white;

How to s et the humanoid alert function?

Note: Mobile tracking and smart humanoid alert can’t be used at the same time;

Open the ‘iCSee’, click the device real-time playback, click on the upper right button ‘setting’ ，Enter the ‘settings’-smart alarm, open the interface to make related settings.

Function introduction:

 
●Notification: Must be turned on to receive alarm trigger information.

●Humanoid detection: only judge and detect people to trigger an alarm;

●Show Tracking: When the human figure appears on the screen, the human figure can be tracked and reminded; Rule setting: select the designated area [Warning Line], when someone enters the divided area, the alarm can be triggered;

Add shared device

1. Click “Share” in the device list to pop up the QR code page using the main phone.

2. Log in to the ‘iCSee’ APP with the mobile phone you want to share,
click the “+” sign in the upper right corner of the APP main interface, click “Scan QR code to add a camera” , scan the QR code of the device shared by others or input Add the device serial number (the shared device must be connected to the Internet and successfully
added to the APP).

How to Restore factory settings/AP hotspot switching？

1. Long press the camera ‘Reset ‘ button for 10 seconds, and you can let go when you hear ‘ Restore factory setting,please wait’.

2. Short press the camera Reset button 2-5 to enter the direct connection mode (most devices will voice prompt “enter direct connection mode”).

How to query device serial number and info?

1. Open the ‘iCSee’, enter the real-time playback of the device, click on the upper right setting to enter the setting center-about the device , the QR code can be directly scanned and shared with other family members to watch (the QR code valid time is 30 Minutes); if exceeded, it will automatically expire;

2. If you find that the device time is not synchronized, please click the device time to synchronize it;

HOW TO USE THE CAMERA?

1.Please open the software to register one and log in to your account if you do not have an account.

2.Click “+” > Set up “MY DEVICE” to WiFi

3.Enter your WiFi password. Then click “confifirm” and wait for the camera to connect it.

Notes

* Please reset the device if the camera does not have any voice reminders for more than 180 seconds.

* Please check the WiFi password again and make sure the WiFi channel is 2.4GHz.

* Please do not make the device too far away from the Router.

4.Upon a successful connection, you can set up the name and the password of the camera.

SHARE THE CAMERA：

1.The administrator can send the QR code and password of the camera to the other persons.

2.Scan the QR code by the administrator to share with you and add the camera.

iCsee – How to reset the camera

1. Power on the camera, the red indicator light will lit up.

2. Using a pin to hold on press the reset button for 10 seconds until you hear the voice:

Restore factory settings, pls don’t power up. And the red indicator light will flash which indicator the camera is ready to connect to the phone app.

How to View the Camera on Your Phone by Wave Sound?

1. Power on the camera, the red indicator light will light up.

2. Using a pin to hold on press the reset button for 10 seconds until you hear the voice:

3. Search the app “iCsee” on google play or the app store.

4. Sign up for an account and log in with this account.

5. Please click the “+” icon at the right top.

6. Please click ” Set up my device to Wifi”.

If connected to the phone app by the wave sound failed, you can also click the QR code at the right top, then place the QR code in front of the camera lens, the camera will recognize the QR code.

What to Do if Phone Can’t Connect Camera?

1. Download and install the APP

Go to “Google Play” or “App Store” on your mobile phone, search for “iCsee Pro” or “iCsee”, and then download and install it on your phone.

2. Confirm your Wi-Fi status

A. Check if your wireless router has enabled DHCP and if it is the 2.4 GHz network. (The device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi currently.)

B. Ensure your smartphone has been connected to the wireless router.

C. Ensure there is no special character in the Wi-Fi name and password, and their length does not exceed 30 digits.

How to Add the Camera to APP iCsee?

This article will tell you how to connect the cameras to the APP iCsee. If you order a camera I41ES/I41ED, please follow below instruction to add it to the APP step by step.

1. Please download the APP iCsee from Google Play or APP Store
2. Then, please connect the 2.4GHz wifi on the mobile phone.
   Note:
   When configuring the wifi for the camera, the APP will pick up the wifi automatically, and it won’t allow the users to change it. Thus, please make sure the mobile phone is connected to the wifi you want to configure for the camera.
3. Please use an email address or a mobile phone number to register the APP.
   • Firstly, please click Sign Up on the APP
     
   • Then, please input the username, password, email address/phone number, and the verification code and click Sign Up:
     
4. Next, please log into the APP by using the username/email address/mobile phone number:
   
5. After login the APP, please click the screen to add the camera:
   
6.  Next, please click Set Up My Device To Wi-Fi:
   
7. Please input the wifi password of your wifi network:
   
8. Next, please click the QR code icon and click I see, and put the QR code to face the camera lens part so that the camera could scan the QR code:
   
9. Next, please set up a password and a name for the camera.
   Note:
   The password is very important. When you share the camera with other users, you also let him/her know the password, so please keep the password.
   If you forgot the password, please reset the camera to the factory default settings.
   
10. Finally, the camera will be added to the APP successfully, and you could view it on the APP:
    

How to Setup 24 Hours Recording for the Camera?

The camera supports recording constant videos for 24 hours. Please follow below instruction to set it up step by step.

1. Before you set up the recording, please make sure an SD card has been inserted into the camera, and the SD card is recognized. Please go to the Settings of the camera.
   
2. Then, please go to Storage Management to check the Storage Capacity. If the SD card is recognized, the capacity won’t be 0.
   
3. Next, please go to Advanced Settings.
   
4. Finally, please turn on the Record switch.
   Once the Record Switch is turned on, the camera will record videos for 24 hours.
   Pack Duration: it means that each recording file will be 5 minutes. The users could adjust the length of the recordings files manually.
   Audio: the camera will record audio for the video if it is turned on.

How to Set Up the Motion Detection Recording for the Cameras

1. Before you set up the recording, please make sure an SD card has been inserted into the camera, and the SD card is recognized. Please go to Settings of the camera.
   Then, please go to Storage Management to check the Storage Capacity. If the SD card is recognized, the capacity won’t be 0.
   
2. Next, please go to Motion Alarm to enable the motion detection settings.
   
3. On the Smart Alarm section, please turn on the Open option. If you need, you could also turn on Human Shape Detection.
   Finally, please go to Alarm Action to select Take a Video for the Alarm Action so that the camera will record a video when it has motion detection.
   
4. For motion detection, you could set up the alarm sensitivity and the alarm time and alarm area on the Other Settings section.
   
   On the Rule Setting, the users could adjust the alarm area for motion detection.
   
   The Alarm Time is 24 hours as a default, and the users could also custom the Alarm time based on their own requirements.
   

If you follow the instruction to set up the recording, the camera will record videos for motion detection. If you have a concern about it, please submit a request to the technical support.

How to playback videos on the phone APP

If the camera record videos, the users could playback the videos through the phone APP.

1. On the APP, please open the camera for previewing and then select the Playback button.
   
2. It will have three options for playback: Video, Cloud Service, and Photos.
   
3. Here, we select Video for playback as an example.
   • Please click on the date to select the date for the recording:
   • 
   • If you set up the recording for both constant recording and motion detection recording, you could playback the recording at the same time. Or you just select one recording type to playback.
