Deploying outdoor WiFi is always necessary for deploying outdoor wireless security cameras. There are many options for extending WiFi. The optimal choice depends on the places and environments in that outdoor wireless cameras are installed.

There are two advisable solutions to extend the WiFi just around your house’s outdoor perimeter within 100 meters (300 feet). A network extension to the remote location farther than 300 feet will need a point-to-point wireless bridge.

1. Near Site WiFi Extension to the Outdoor Wireless Security Cameras (up to 100 meters or 300 feet)

It’s hard for WiFi signals to penetrate wire-filled stucco walls or stone walls. To provide strong WiFi outside for the outdoor cameras, one WiFi extender installed outdoors would avoid the stifling impact of walls on WiFi signals. There are two kinds of products—Powerline WiFi extenders and outdoor WiFi access points—to provide WiFi outside the home.

1.1 Near Site Outdoor WiFi for Cameras: Powerline WiFi Extenders

If you install your outdoor wireless camera under your eaves or in the backyard, plugging in a powerline WiFi extender around is an excellent way to solve the outdoor WiFi issues. As the powerline adapters are rated as indoor devices, a covered patio or waterproof electric box is needed to stand the harsh outdoor environments.

If your patio is not enclosed or the outdoor wireless cameras are installed further from your home, you may need an outdoor access point. TP-Link offers Omada EAP series omnidirectional outdoor access points for outdoor WiFi. They come with IP67 or IP65 waterproof and dustproof housing and a -30–70°C (-22–158°F) operating temperature range. They are designed to protect the outdoor access points against harsh outdoor conditions.

1.2.1 WiFi Outside for Relatively Small Areas

One or two outdoor WiFi access points are deployed to connect the outdoor wireless cameras in relatively small areas. With the included passive PoE adapter, connect the Omada outdoor access points with your existing router to simultaneously provide data and power using a single Ethernet cable.

1.2.2 WiFi Outside for Relatively Large Areas

Several outdoor WiFi access points are deployed to connect outdoor wireless cameras across relatively large areas. The PoE switches or passive PoE adapters connect the Omada access points with a single Ethernet cable. Omada Mesh technology can wirelessly connect to the outdoor access points without additional cable if some access points cannot link to LAN ports. With Mesh technology, the maximum distance of extending outdoor WiFi can be multiple hundreds of meters.

2. Remote Site Network Expansion (More than 100 m and up to 30 km)

How to reset TVI DVR/ POE NVR / Wireless NVR (ZSWNVK-H) System when you forgot the password?

If your CCTV DVR or NVR don’t have a built-in WiFi support, then you have to run internet cable (CAT 5 or CAT 6 Ethernet cable) to connect your DVR or NVR to the internet via the router.

• Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet input on the back of the DVR.
• Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable into a device providing an active internet connection, such as a router or modem.
• Test your internet connection to confirm that it is active by going to the Network > Network screen.

1) Right click mouse—go to Main Menu > Setup > Network.

2) On the Network tab, ensure the “Obtain an IP Address Automatically” option is enabled, and that there is no information in the PPPoE fields.

3) Once you’ve ensured there is no information in the PPPoE field and that the “Obtain and IP Address Automatically” option is selected, select the “Test” option.

If “OK” is displayed, the local area network is connected successfully.

If the DVR is not able to connect to the internet, you will get a message that states “Cannot Connect to Network”.

NOTE:

In order for other devices to connect to the DVR through the router, the DHCP setting must be enabled from the router’s settings page.

If you still cannot connect to the network, please ensure that you don’t have a firewall active on your network that may be limiting the connection.

You may need to open ports 80, 5000, and 5001 on your router, if they’re currently being blocked by te firewall. This typically only happens on commercial internet accounts, as they deal with sensitive transactions, but occasionally a firewall on a residential line will also block these ports.

If you’re unsure how to open ports on your router, you will need to speak with the router manufacturer.

1) What’s DHCP?

DHCP is a type of internet networking approach. It stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. It means that a router assigns IP addresses to each of the devices on the network, allowing them to communicate with other devices in or outside the network.

In context of our systems, the setting related to DHCP is called DHCP server status. This setting enables your router to obtain the static IP address on the DVR and broadcast that IP to the app so it can locate your DVR. This setting needs to be enabled on a router for the apps to be able to connect to the DVR systems.

2) For example: How to set up a linksys E5350 Router?

Once you’ve logged into the router settings, you’ll want to select “configuration” at the top, and then “Connection > Local Network” in the menu on the left. You should see this page:

You’ll want to ensure the checkbox beside “DHCP server” is checked off, and set the start IP address to 100 as shown in the image. Leaving the other settings here as they default should be fine. Once this is done, select “save.” Before proceeding with the next steps, try using the app while not connected to local WiFi. If you can see the live feeds, you don’t need to complete the steps below.

If you can’t, you’ll need to open the ports in the firewall. On the left menu, select “Security”, and then “Single Port forwarding” as shown in this image:

The number you want to enter in the “To IP Address” field is the last three digits of the DVR’s static IP, which you can find on the Network page of the DVR. (Main Menu > Setup > Network)

How to Mount Your VIGI Pan & Tilt Camera to a Wall or Pole

This article will show you how to mount your camera to the wall, and how to remove your camera from the camera base.

How to Mount Your Camera

1. Mark Position

Place the mounting template where you want the camera. For wall mounting, drill four holes through four circles on your mounting template.

2. Mount Base or Pole Mounting

Affix the camera base using the screws.

For wall mounting, insert four anchors into the holes and use the self-tapping screws to affix the camera base over the anchors.
There are two ways to install your cameras by the mount base depending on your situation.

How to Uninstall Your Camera

If you mounted it on the wall

Remove the screws from the anchor. Then you can take your camera off the wall.

How to use VIGI cameras with other NVR brands or NAS

The VIGI cameras work with VIGI NVR as well as other NVR brands or NAS for easier batch access and management. It is recommended to use the VIGI cameras with the VIGI NVR. For other NVR brands, make sure they support ONVIF and RTSP protocols. Here we will show you how to use VIGI cameras with other NVR brands.

Step 1: Power on your cameras and connect them to the same network as your NVR.

Step 2: Activate the cameras using the VIGI Security Manager or VIGI App.

1. Download the VIGI Security Manager on your windows computer at https://www.tp-link.com/download-center/

2. Install the VIGI Security Manager and open it.

3. Go to Settings > Discovered Devices. Cameras on the same network as your computer can be automatically discovered.

4. Click + Add to activate your discovered cameras by setting passwords.

5. Follow the instructions to add your cameras.

Step 3: Refer to the NVR’s User Manual to add cameras.

We will show you some basic parameters that it may require to connect the VIGI camera to your NVR.

1. The IP address of the camera.

Open VIGI Security Manger and go to Settings > Device > Device List > My Devices > Settings icon of the camera > Network Settings > Connection.

For some NVRs, you’ll need to modify the IP address of the VIGI camera to the same network segment as the NVR for successful adding.

2. The ports for standard ONVIF and RTSP protocols.

Please select Onvif protocols to add VIGI cameras.

3. The username/password of the camera.

Username: admin

What should I do if VIGI camera is not found?

This article is to solve the problem that VIGI camera is not found. Please check the steps below:

Step 1. Confirm that the camera is powered up.

The camera should be powered up via 12V DC adapter or PoE (802.3af/at). The IR LED will turn on for 20 seconds once the camera is powered on.

Step 2. Confirm that the camera is connected to your network properly.

The camera should be connected to network devices via Ethernet cable.

Step 3. Make sure your device is on the same network as the camera.

Step 4. Reboot your network devices including router and refresh to discover your cameras again.

Step 5. Try other methods to discover devices.

You can try to discover devices via VIGI Security Manager, VIGI NVR or VIGI App.

How to Verify Fake Micro SD Cards When Using with VIGI Cameras

Note:

A security camera that works with a standalone microSD card is primarily designed to store motion-activated recordings or short video clips of movements with local storage, which offers a cost-effective alternative to the subscription-based cloud storage. However, users may run into issues like the camera is unable to overwrite recordings, the SD card becomes full and stops recording or the SD card cannot be formatted by the camera App, etc. These kinds of problems might be caused by the fake SD card.

Micro SD Card and fake SD Card

An SD Card is a small electronic storage medium used by a plethora of storage devices including smartphones, games devices, camcorders, and cameras. Most of the smartphones and security cameras are using the microSD card.

The TP-Link camera supports a microSD card with up to 512GB capacity. If the remaining space of an SD card is less than 500MB or 5% of the total capacity before the first insertion of the camera, it would be impossible to record. There are different speed specifications for microSD cards and it is recommended to use a card with Class 10 or UHS 1 speed rating, which requires a minimum writing speed of 10MB/s.

The most common fake microSD card is the fake capacity expanded card, which uses illegal means and tools to make the cards with a small capacity appear larger. For example, a 32GB card is displayed as 128GB on your computer or other devices. This kind of card is usually having a lower price than the official quality goods. Since the capacity is Manual deceived by the illegal means and tools so that the space beyond the original capacity cannot be used normally.

If the stored file exceeds the actual capacity, the file will be unavailable. Our camera recognizes the microSD card and will format it in Fat32 format and creates index files to save your video data. If your SD card is an expanded card, it will not be formatted successfully and will not work properly on our camera.

We do not support the card due to the particularity of the monitoring camera; we need to ensure that the SD card can work stably for a long time. And since camera data is relatively important, data loss or failure to write data can have a significant impact.

Note: For VIGI cameras, it is required to format the SD card on the VIGI app for local recording.

When it comes to counterfeit memory cards, you will find some different types of them like listed below:

1. Reduced Read / Write Speed: You buy an SD card that shows something like “maximum 95 MB/s read and 90 MB/s write speed” and a “V30” label that is supposed to guarantee a minimum writing speed of 30 MB/s. But when copying a file using a fast SD card reader, you might not even get more than 5-10 MB/s.

2. Reduced Capacity: The SD card might report a large capacity when inserted in your computer, camera, or storage device, while it contains only a very small part of the overall capacity. This happens because the microchip (a tiny part of the SD card that is responsible for reporting the total amount of storage available) within the card has been reprogrammed to report a different size to the host. How to configure VIGI camera’s exposure parameters

Exposure refers to the amount of light entering the camera. Overexposure in surveillance images results in a too bright image, while underexposure leads to a dark image that lacks clarity.

Overexposure can generally be divided into overexposure during the day and overexposure at night. Overexposure during the day is mainly caused by backlighting in the scene, while overexposure at night is caused by excessive infrared reflection from objects.

Underexposure, on the other hand, is primarily due to low ambient brightness, resulting in insufficient light entering the camera.

To address the above issues, we can make adjustments through Exposure setting, Prevent Overexposure setting, as well as BLC (Backlight Compensation) and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) settings to obtain more suitable image effects for specific scenes.

Exposure settings include exposure gain and shutter speed. Higher gain and slower shutter speed allow more light to enter the camera within the same time frame, resulting in a brighter image, and vice versa for a darker image.

Prevent overexposure, the brightness of the infrared illuminator can be adjusted to avoid excessive infrared reflection at night.

In addition, there are WDR settings and BLC settings. WDR processes the dark and bright areas of the image to make the dark areas brighter and the bright areas darker, thus achieving better image quality in environments with high contrast between highlights and shadows. BLC targets specific backlight areas and adjusts the light entering the camera accordingly to achieve the desired image effect.

4 Record video:
If you system don’t come with hard drive, you have to install a SATA
3.5 inch internal hard drive to record. This system works with most
3.5”SATA Hard Disk or 3.5 internal hard disk.

1. Install a Hard Disk (if your system has preinstalled Hard Disk,
please skip this step)
Unplug your DVR from power, unscrew and remove the top cover.
Connect the SATA power and data cables from the DVR to the
corresponding ports on your Hard Disk (as shown).

Place the Hard Disk into the DVR. Any cable should cross up over the
Hard Disk.
Holding the Hard Disk and the DVR, gently turn it over and line up the
holes on the Hard Disk with the holes on the
DVR. Using a screwdriver, screw the provided screws into the holes.
Assemble the cover.
Note: after you install a hard drive, please format the hard drive, right
click the mouse>main menu>record>HDD manage> format Disk
2 Setup to Record video:
Right click the mouse to get into DVR main menu>record>record

[Channel]: select the channel you want to record
Length/min: the recording video length
Schedule: Record according to the set video type (regular, detect, alarm)
and time section.
Manual: Record no matter the channel in any state.
Stop: Stop recording no matter the channel in any state.
Day: From Sunday to Saturday, if you select All.

5 Playback video
Got into the DVR main menu>playback

Record querying conditions include: file storing place, record
time,record channel, record type (regular, alarm, manual). After
chose the querying condition, click search button , If files exist, you
can see the corresponding color displaying in the time column, Click file
list button , you can see the files one by one displaying.
Double click the files you want to playback in the file list or click in the
time column to playback.

Sync Mode: Enable sync mode, multiple channels playback at the same
time.
Zoom in: Click left mouse to drag out an area, and then move mouse into
the area, after that click to enlarge, double click left mouse to exit
amplified state.

Part 1

Don’t Start a Fire or Shock Yourself

Electricity Can Kill You; Avoid Electrical Lines!

Never strap, staple or otherwise run networking cable to conduit or raceways carrying electrical current. Never run any cable within 2 inches of Class I electrical lines, lighting, fire alarm, or power lines or devices.

Give a Wide Berth to High Voltage Devices or Lines

Never run any cable within 6 feet of a conductor or fuse box. A minimum 5-inch distance is required from any fluorescent lighting fixture or power line over 2 kVA and up to 24 inches from any power line over 5 kVA. If unsure about the a device or line, consult an electrician. Route cable away as far as you can from large motors, generators, induction heaters, arc welders, x-ray equipment, and radio frequency, microwave or radar sources. NEC/NFPA 70, Article 800-52

Protect it from Future Physical Damage

You might want to put a nail or screw in later and don’t want to puncture your cables, so when a cable, raceway, or soft conduit (anything you can puncture) is installed parallel to framing members (joists, rafters, or studs), furring strips, or crown molding, keep the cable at least 32 mm (1.26 inches) from the edge. NEC 300.4(D)

Don’t Leave it Dangling – Secure Your Cables

You can connect cable directly to a surface with straps, staples, cable ties, hangers, or similar fittings, but you have to secure it somehow. NEC 800.24; 300.11

Use Plenum rated cable in Areas with Airflow

If you are going to run cables through an area which is used by your heating, air circulation, or air conditioner systems (such as above a drop ceiling in an office), you must use Plenum rated cables, which have a special insulation that has low smoke and low flame characteristics. When securing cable in Plenum required areas, make sure your straps, cable ties, and similar fittings also are plenum rated. NEC 830; NFPA 90A

24 Volt Wiring: PTZ

The Spotlight PTZ cameras uses 24 volt power rather than POE because it requires more power than is capable of Power-Over-Ethernet for its natural white light spotlight. The Laser can also be powered via 24 volt power and can be powered the same way, although it is not required to do so. This guide shows you how to wire these PTZs.

24 Volt Wiring: Sharpshooter

The Sharpshooter IP Bullet cameras uses 24 volt power rather than POE because it requires more power than is capable of Power-Over-Ethernet for its long range infrared. This guide shows you how to wire the Sharpshooter.

Protecting your Cabling

Liquidtight Plastic Tubing

Liquidtight plastic tubing is easier to work with than flexible metal tubing, but is less secure. It is also great for areas with lots of expected moisture as it won’t rust.

Flexible Metal Conduit (FMC)

Ethernet Wall Plates

Not recommended. It can be difficult to find a wall plate that passes POE power and provides grounding. These devices also provide a secondary point of failure, and take up far more room than a cable pass through plate for larger systems.

Dealing with Long Distance

Using POE switches to reduce cabling

You can run one cable to a POE switch and then run several cameras to that switch, however, POE switches are not plug-n-play. POE switches do require you to know a decent amount about computer networking.

Cables run over 300 feet

Cat5e and Cat6 cable data has a limit of 300 feet, but if you need to go further than that you can use a POE extender, POE injector, or POE switch to hear and repeat the signal. This article discusses when you would use each of these tools.

NVR Mounting Options and Hard Drive Installation

Shelf / Desk Mounting NVRs

This is what most people do: just put it on a shelf or desk. This makes it easy to connect to a TV/monitor and use the mouse (included) to control the NVR.

Rack Mounting NVRs

Companies often want to put the NVR in their server rack room. People who do this often to control the NVR only through our apps or web browser. Only our larger NVRs (16 channels and up) are wide enough to be rack mounted (and they come with ears). Our smaller NVRs can use our Rack Mount Shelf.

Wall Mounting NVRs

Many people choose to mount their NVR on a wall near a TV. To do this, you will want to purchase a vertical rack, like this one that matches the height of your NVR. The 16, 32, and 64 channels units have a height of 2U and the 128 channel is 3U. NVRs are heavy and you will want to make sure your wall can support the weight.

Mounting NVRs behind a Wall / in an Attic

People who are afraid of the theft of an NVR often place it behind a false wall or in an attic. People who do this control the NVR only through our apps or web browser. Be aware: Not all attics are insulated well enough to be within the temperature requirements of the NVR. Temperature range is listed on each NVR’s technical specs tab.

“NVR” Lock Boxes

There’s a few companies advertising “NVR Lock Boxes,” but any Server Rack or Computer Rack will do. Most Server Racks or Mounts have locks on them already. This picture is of a Tripp Lite Server Rack with Lock It houses a 32 channel NVR, two of our POE Switches, and a router, but there are tons of companies selling small server racks online.

When to NOT DIY – Get an Expert

Long Distance Wireless

Military-Grade Long-Range Wifi Solution are used when attempting to send wireless IP Camera video data more than 100 feet (and up to 3 Miles). These products will require a professional wireless network technician on location. We can’t offer support on this product remotely, as once we can see it remotely, that means that it is already working.

Aerial Cable

Aerial cable clearance varies based on location (cable over a road needs more clearance than over a sidewalk, for example), needs to be enclosed within 8 feet of finished grade, and requires a on-site structural analysis to make sure the cable won’t break. Hire an expert.

Burial of Cable

Number one, call 811 before you ever dig: know where your power company has buried its power cables! The required cable burying depth also can vary based on your local zoning laws and your certificate of occupancy; you should get an expert.

Elevators

Don’t even try to install any cable in one without a licensed elevator technician’s help as the cable needs to be inside the cable traveler. An error in securing the cable can result in damage to the elevator’s operation – and potentially the people inside it. Don’t mess with it; get a licensed elevator technician to run the cable.

I spent the last two weeks getting to know everything about these cameras and this thread will capture all this information. It will take me several weeks to document all the information so please be patient.

There are a variety of problems that I will try my best to explain and share the possible solutions. I have gotten pretty comfortable with these cameras and have purposely bricked them to various degrees of severity just to validate the recovery process. Most people “brick” their cameras trying to upgrade the firmware. This is not a serious issue and it can be corrected very easily. The camera runs an upgrade service on port 3800. The configTool always shows a default port of 37777 but this is not an issue as it can do the upgrade on port 3800 anyway. Change your port to 3800 and use a firmware file lsted below and you are back in business.

I will keep updating this post as I get more time to write all the details around recovery. I will also post links to over 40+ firmware files that and which cameras they will work with. It will take me a bit of time to capture all this information, so please be patient.

 How to Download and Prepare Firmware

BRICKED CAMERA? How can you tell?

There are several types of “BRICKED” camera conditions and they have varying levels of severity and also varying levels of complexity for recovery. Most are simple and caused by bad firmware uploads. The worst will require a full rebuild of the partitions which load the kernel, software and all other data.

1. The first step in identifying the severity of your issue is to determine what still working on your camera. In order to do that, lets remove as many variables as possible to the troubleshooting process. If possible, connect the camera ethernet and PC ethernet on it’s own switch and make sure that no vlan tagging is enabled on the switch.

Next, you need to figure out if the IP address is still reacheable. Ping the last known ip address. The default address for most cameras is 192.168.1.108.

If you don’t know it you can use the arp/ping method to configure which adds as startic arp entry to a new ip address. (This feature is enabled on the camera by default)

2. Once you have a pingable IP, you need to know what services are still active on the camera. This can be done with a simple port scanner. I have added a link to below in tools.

3. Run the port scanner and record which ports are still open. In many cases port 23 and port 3800 will still be open. If this is your situation, it is a very simple fix. If no ports are open, you will need to do a full image load which is more complex.

The typical ports that you would see are:

23 – Telnet access

80 – Web User interface

443 – SSL

554 – Real time streaming port

3800 – Upgrade Deamon

5000 – UPnP

37777 – TCP Video streaming

37778 – UDP Video Streaming

42323 – Real time remote runner

Plus a whole bunch more of UDP ports and more TCP ports

1A. If port 3800 is open you can connect with the Dahua Config tool (link below in tools). I tdefault to port 37777 but change it to 3800 as this port where the upgrade daemon is listening. Port 37777 is a redirect but it won’t work if your firmware has failed.

Launch the config tool and click on login button. Type the IP address , username and password then port 3800.

Open a know working firmware file and upload to the camera.

1B. If port 3800 is not open, go to the next step to enable port 3800.

2. If you have telnet access, you can login with putty. Link to putty below in tools. The default Web UI password is admin / admin.

In older firmware the telnet account is root / vizxv

In newer firmware the telnet account is admin / 7ujMko0+”web UI password” —> 7ujmko0admin

Once connected you can execute a ps command to see running processes. /usr/sbin/upgraded process is what listens on port 3800 for the firmware binary file.

There is also another copy in /var/tmp/

A useful tip for watching the upgrade process is to kill the “upgraded” process that is running and re-launch it in the foreground to watch the upgrade.

Here you can see each partition being loaded wit the individual img files. I will write a quick how to on loading each one individually at a later time.

If you chose a valid firmware file, you will be back in working order. If you still have problems, repeat with another firmware file till you have a valid file. The IPC-HFW4300S-V2 is not natively compatible with all other 4300S firmware. I am in the process of writing a how to that explains how to over come this issue.

UNBRICK WITH UBOOT via SERIAL

NOTE: This section is coming soon… I’m gathering all the images I need for various camera types

OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION (to be sorted later)

The firmware consists of several images that are loaded into various partitions in flash in a UBI file system. You can load each partition separately if needed. More on this later…. (I’ll put a guide together on flashing and recovering partitions)

Once you telnet into the camera, there are number of useful binaries in the user shell that can help correct and diagnose some of the problems people are experiencing. One of the helpful steps is to kill the /var/tmp/upgraded process and run it in the foreground so you can see what is going on and easily capture error messaged. The /var/tmp/upgraded process is what opens the port 3800 and allows you to connect to the camera with the config tool if your web services have failed. There is also another copy in usr/sbin/.

Also, in there is a command to reset all the parameters back to factory defaults (username, password, ip address back to 192.168.1.108 etc.) This can be accomplished with /sbin/clearparam.

Another issue that people run into is the constant reboot issue. This can be caused by a failed process. The main application which provides all the camera capabilities (web interface, streaming, etc.) is /usr/bin/sonia. This process is what makes most firmware different from version to version (sort of). There are also changes to the web partition which contains the web server pages that /usr/bin sonia hosts on port 80. The sonia process is invoked by a shell script in init.d and if the process is killed, the camera reboots after a few minutes. This has cause many people issues when trying to “unbrick” the camera since you only have a few minutes between reboots.

To stop the reboots you can update the flash. There is a parameter called appauto that tells the camera to auto start /us/bin/sonia. If you want the camera to start and not invoke the shell script that launches sonia, you need to set appauto to 0. This will stop the camera from rebooting when sonia is not running.

This cam be accomplished by running ‘/sbin/appauto 0’. To turn it back on, just run /sbin/appauto 1. This writes the boot parameter in flash that the kernel reads before starting the process. You can check the current status of the appauto bootparameter with ‘cat /proc/dahua/bootpara’ It will only show what the parameter was when you booted up, so if you changes it you need to reboot to see the change in /proc/dahua/bootpara.

You can change the subtype to 1 for the secondary stream also you can add user:password@ in front of the IP address if you have the permissions set requiring it.

You can use the HTTP API to configure some parameters that are not yet in the web UI. For instance, another member discovered he could enable NFS through the web UI in addition to the local SD card. This config is not possible through the web interface as you need to pick one or the other.

These documents details the API of Dahua video products (links provided to some of the versions below). Programmers or users can access and configure Dahua video products through the API. Every setting of the camera is available through the API whereas only a small number are available through the WEB interface. The document with version 1.10 is available with firmware version 2.0 and above. This document with version 1.20, 1.21, 1.22, 1.23,1.24,1,25,1,26,1,27,1,28 is available with firmware 2.210 and above.This document with version 1. 29 ,1.30, 1.31, 1.32, 1.33, 1.34, 1.35,

1.36 is available with firmware 2.210 and above.This document with version 1.37 is available with firmware 2.212, 2.4 and above.

I have also done a bit of testing around the tftp process that is invoked in u-boot that looks for upgrade_info_7db780a713a4.txt and failed.txt. I think with a little more work, I’ll figure out if there is a recovery method using tftp without serial access. This would be necessary if you lose telnet access and need to rebuild the kernel partition that hosts telnetd.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR IPC-HFW4300S-V2 CAMERAS

The new camera appears to have differences (a few that I already found) that makes some of the general firmware incompatible with them. I have found a workaround, but it is complex. I will try to summarize it in a separate thread in the following weeks. I will also repackage the newest firmware files in versions that will work for the V2 cameras. Stay tuned! In the meantime, you can use General_IPC-HX5(4)XXX_Eng_N_V2.210.0000.21.R.20140613.bin or the PAL equivalent to recover your camera.

G:  No Video Display on TV Monitor Or Blank Screen?

My UI Interface shows “No signal” or “Black Screen” ？

We need to divert this issue into two situations:

1.NVR Indicator light is on:

(1) Cause: The camera system’s video output resolution is 1080P. If your TV monitor resolution is below 1080P, this issue will occur.

Steps:

Please right-click and hold your mouse for over 10 seconds to see if the system can reboot or not. Or, please try to connect the system to another TV monitor with a higher resolution (above 1080P)

(2) Cause: The hard disk drive inside of the DVR box is broken, and use the screwdriver to open the DVR box to unplug the wires of the hard disk drive, and reboot the DVR to have a try. If the DVR box can be rebooted after unplugging the wires of the hard disk drive(HDD), which means the HDD is having an issue, and needs a replacement, plz contact email love@hiseeu.com for replacement HDD

After steps, if the thing still cann’t be resolved, which means the NVR box is broken, plz contact email love@hiseeu.com for replacement NVR box if their warranty is still 1 year

2.NVR Indicator light is off:

(1) Cause: The power adapter 52V 2.5 A connected to the NVR box is broken

Step: Use another power supply 52V 2.5 A to power on the NVR unit to have a try ( If you do not have a spare one, can contact us to buy a new one or we send you a new one if your warranty is still under 1 year )

(2) Cause: The hard disk drive inside of the NVR box is broken Step: Use the screwdriver to open the NVR box to unplug the wires of the hard disk drive, and reboot the DVR to have a try. If HDD(Hard disk drive) is having issue or something wrong with record setting, the DVR can’t record/playback the video

If status shows “Error” or No hard drive info , which means the hard drive is broken. (need to replace hard dirve)

2.Check the record plan is set up for 24/7 continuous recording

Period: “00:00-24:00”

Select “Regular”

3. Please make sure the HDD was set up to “Overwrite”. (if it was set to “stop”, the system would stop recording when the storage is full)

If the camera’s user name or password has been changed, you are required to input the info manually.

Move the mouse to the status icon , you will see the error message. “Offline [incorrect Username to Password]”

2.Add Camera to NVR via PoE Switch or Router

NVR will detect the camera under the same WLAN and list IPC here

• Click on plug icon to add the camera. If the camera has default user name: admin, password: 123456.

NVR will add it automatically.

• If the camera’s password has been changed, please click on the setting icon to modify the info.

• In this situation, the camera IP address range should be the same as NVR’s IP range

(You can check NVR IP by navigating to Network>Basic> TCP/IP). If not, please contact the technician to modify the camera’s IP first.

3.Scan the above QR code by app and the security code will be sent to your email address.

When you log in to Verkada Command, you can only access cameras and video in organizations or sites where your user account has permissions.

Note: Even if you are an Org Admin, you still need to grant yourself permission to view all sites. Learn more about roles and permissions for cameras and Command.

If you log in to Command and cameras are missing or have disappeared, always check user permissions. The most common reason cameras are not visible is that your user account needs permissions to the site(s) where the cameras are configured.

Each Verkada camera has night vision capabilities, using a sensor to detect low-light situations. When external lighting is low, the camera switches to night mode and records in black and white, using infrared (IR) LEDs to illuminate the environment. If the IR is emitted improperly through the dome or reflected into the lens, it negatively impacts image quality.

Common night mode issues

It is imperative that the dome remain free of debris and the camera is installed properly to achieve the best image quality. When viewing footage in night mode if the footage appears obscured it is most likely the result of one of the following scenarios:

Camera always in night mode

If your camera is always in night mode even where there is sufficient light in the environment the lux (light) value may need to be adjusted. If this is the case, reach out to Verkada Support for further assistance.

Environmental obstruction

If the camera is mounted too close to a wall, ledge, or light source, the image quality may be degraded due to IR reflection.

Recommendation. Ensure that cameras are mounted sufficiently far away from surfaces that may cause the IRs to reflect, such as light sources.

IR obstruction

If a first-generation Dome camera (D30 or D50) is operating in night mode when there is plenty of light, the IR sensor is likely obstructed by the camera housing.

To fix the obstructed light sensor, physically rotate the lens barrel assembly 180° so the sensor and IRs are visible through the camera case.

Note: After rotating the lens barrel, the camera orientation may need to be changed in Command.

When motion is detected, or when the call button is pressed, there will be live video from that channel. You can also manually wake up the doorbell through the Lorex app, by activating the liveview.

It is worth noting that recordings on the camera are limited due to the size of its onboard storage, while recordings on the recorder are extensive (3TB to 10TB). Continuous recording captures everything in the background, and you can playback to catch anything you missed.

To avoid receiving duplicate notifications from the same camera or accessory, you will need to Turn off Alerts for your Wi-Fi device connected to your recorder. My Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory is not appearing in the device list.

My Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory is not connecting to my Fusion recorder.

• Give your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory a few minutes to establish a connection.

• Check to see if your Fusion recorder has the most up-to-date firmware. New Local UI: Login to your recorder and navigate to System > Update & Reset > Upgrade, then click Check for Updates.  Previous Local UI: Login to your recorder and navigate to Main Menu > Information > Update/Reset > Update, then click Check for Updates. For instructions on updating your recorder’s firmware through USB, see the article How to manually upgrade the firmware of your recorder.

• Ensure that your Fusion Wi-Fi cameras and accessories and your Fusion recorder are powered on.

• The same password created for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory in the Lorex App must be entered in your Fusion recorder. If you have forgotten the password, then reset your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory and connect it to the app again.

• (Applies to the previous local UI only) If your password for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory is entered incorrectly in your Fusion recorder, then your Wi-Fi device will lock itself. Reset your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory and connect it to the app again.

• Ensure that you are entering the password for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory created in the Lorex App, and not the Lorex App account password. Those are two separate passwords.

• Ensure that your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory is connected to a dual-band router (2.4 GHz/5 GHz bands).

• Ensure that you are connecting the Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory to an available Fusion Wi-Fi channel, and not a Wi-Fi channel that already has a Wi-Fi device connected to it.

I don’t know the password for my Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory.

If you don’t know the password for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory, then you will need to reset the device and connect it to the Lorex App again.

I’m receiving duplicate notifications in the Lorex App.

After completing the Fusion setup, your Wi-Fi camera or accessory is connected to the Lorex App twice – once as a single device and then a second time as a device connected to your recorder. To avoid receiving duplicate notifications from the same camera or accessory, you will need to Turn off Alerts for your Wi-Fi device connected to your recorder. Note: To conserve battery life, Wi-Fi Battery Video Doorbells only record when motion is detected. They do not record continuously.

Part One — Wired Setup

Setup your Fusion recorder and wired cameras. For Basic System Setup instructions, refer to your recorder’s Quick Start Guide or Manual on the product support page. Visit help.lorextechnology.com and search your Fusion recorder’s model number.

Important: Network setup is required for your system — use the included Ethernet cable to connect your recorder to your router.

Connect your Lorex Fusion Wi-Fi Camera to the app and then from your recorder scan your network to add it.

Turn off duplicate notifications

After completing the Fusion setup, your Wi-Fi camera or accessory is connected to the Lorex App twice – once as a single device and then a second time as a device connected to your recorder. Adjust the recording settings for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory

After Fusion setup, your Lorex Fusion Wi-Fi camera’s recording settings will automatically adjust to Continuous, recording 24/7 directly to your recorder’s hard disk drive.

To adjust the recording settings (new local UI):

To adjust the recording settings using the previous local UI, navigate to Main Menu > CAMERA > Recording > Recording and follow the same steps as above.

Set the recording schedule for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory

You can set a custom recording schedule according to your needs. For example, you can set the system to record continuously during business hours and record on motion detection only outside of business hours.

• Click-and-drag on each day to customize the recording schedule. The schedule is set up as a grid, with each block representing two hours.

• Click  beside 2 or more days to link schedules (). This allows you to quickly change multiple schedules at once.

• To make fine adjustments to a schedule, click . This will allow you to set exact start and end times for a schedule.

• To disable all recording of the selected type on the selected day, click .

To set the recording schedule using the previous local UI, navigate to Main Menu > STORAGE > Schedule and follow the same steps as above.

Link sensors to cameras

Once you’ve completed the Fusion setup, you can link motion and door/window sensors to any compatible camera, so that when the sensors are triggered the linked automatically cameras record.
