Use the 2.4GHz Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) to focus a wireless signal onto one specific wireless device (camera or receiver) to increase the range of transmission. A clear line-of-sight between the antenna and the wireless device needing range extension is required.

Use the 2.4GHz Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to enhance the signal of one or multiple cameras that are paired to a single or dual antenna receiver. You may also use two Omni-Directional Antennas to extend the range of all cameras paired to a dual antenna receiver.

If you have installed your accessory antenna according to the recommended installation methods and would like to enhance wireless signal strength even further, you may add an additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) directly to a camera. The additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna can be used with a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna or with an Omni-Directional Antenna attached to the receiver.

Scenario 1: Extend the range of one camera paired to a single antenna receiver

To extend the range of one camera connected to a single channel receiver, use the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9).

The Directional Wireless Panel Antenna can be connected in two configurations.

Configuration 1. Connect the antenna directly to the camera

Configuration 2. Connect the antenna directly to the wireless receiver

REQUIREMENT: The antenna connects using an SMA cable and replaces the existing antenna on either the camera or wireless receiver. Check www.lorextechnology.com/compatibility to determine if your product is compatible with the antennas.

Scenario 2: Extend the range of one camera paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of one camera connected to a multi-channel receiver, use the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9). Connect the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the camera.

Scenario 3: Extend the range of select cameras paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of select cameras on a multi-channel receiver, use the Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8).

Connect the Omni-Directional Antenna to one of the antenna ports on the wireless receiver.

REMINDER: Each antenna port on a dual antenna receiver is associated with specific camera channels. One antenna communicates with odd numbered channels (1, 3, and 5), while the other antenna communicates with even numbered channels (2, 4, and 6). See the table below for dual antenna channel configurations.

If you connect the Omni-Directional Antenna to an antenna port and your wireless signal does not improve, try switching the Omni-Directional Antenna to the other antenna port or pairing your camera to a different camera channel.

Scenario 4: Extend the range of all cameras paired to a dual antenna receiver

To extend the range of all cameras on a dual antenna receiver, connect an Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to each antenna port on the receiver.

IMPORTANT: Two Omni-Directional Antennas are required to accommodate this setup.

Combination 1: Combine two Directional Wireless Panel Antennas

If you are using a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) to enhance the signal of a single camera with a single channel receiver, you can use an additional Directional Wireless Panel Antenna to further enhance the wireless signal.

Connect one Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the camera and one Directional Wireless Panel Antenna directly to the wireless receiver. To maximize signal strength, it is recommended to aim the two antennas directly at each other with a clear line-of-sight.

Combination 2: Combine a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna with an Omni-Directional Antenna

If you are using an Omni-Directional Antenna (ACCANTO8) to enhance the signal of multiple cameras, you can further enhance the signal of a specific camera by connecting a Directional Wireless Panel Antenna (ACCANTD9) directly to the camera.

A clear line-of-sight between the Directional Wireless Panel Antenna and the Omni-Directional Antenna is recommended to maximize signal strength.

Lorex SD Pro App: Changing / resetting the password

If the password for the Lorex SD Pro app to view the Wireless Home Monitor is lost or forgotten it will need to be reset.

To reset the Lorex SD Pro app password:

1.Ensure that your Wireless Home Monitor is connected to a network router using the included Ethernet cable.

2.On the Wireless Home Monitor tap the Menu icon ().

3.Use the joystick to select Settings > Network > Reset Password.

4.Select Yes to confirm.

5.Tap the Menu icon () repeatedly until all the menus are closed.

6.Launch the SD Pro app and enter the default password. Refer to your user manual for your default password. You will be prompted to create a new password.

Network: Wireless camera Internet requirements

Standard wireless cameras that connect to a DVR / NVR, do not need access to the Internet to function. Stand-alone IP cameras do not require an Internet connection for basic functions, but an Internet connection is required for full functionality.

Security Cameras: Understanding Field of View (FOV)

Field of View (FOV) is the maximum observable area that is seen at any given moment through an optical device such as a camera lens. The coverage of the area can be measured using the horizontal and vertical distances to find the diagonal of the area in degrees. Mathematically, the FOV is calculated using the horizontal dimension of the sensor (h) and the Focal Length (F).

The Camera Lens, Sensor and Focal Length

Focal length (F) is the distance between the center of a lens and its sensor. The size of the lens is the aperture size.

These factors affect field of view. A narrower focal length captures more of the scene and displays a larger field of view. A wider focal length magnifies a scene and decreases the field of view. The higher the focal length value the lower the FOV.

Types of Camera Lenses

Fixed: a fixed camera focal length provides an Angular FOV which is permanently set and cannot be adjusted by the user. Varifocal: the camera focal length can be manually adjusted by the user. Generally, this is done manually with screws or dials. At Lorex we have motorized varifocal cameras that allow you to digitally zoom using your phone or NVR without losing details. These lenses provide flexibility and customization for your camera image needs.

The importance of Field of View

A wide angle lens or smaller lenses produce a greater field of view and captures more objects in a scene enhancing your ability to cover larger and wider areas such as foyers, parking lots or warehouses.

A narrow angle lens or larger lenses produce a smaller field of view; capturing a limited area, but the camera quality image improves in detail. These are designed to monitor a specific object, such as cash registers, entrances/exits, hallways or objects of value.

How to Calculate the FOV

To calculate the FOV requires the sensor size and the focal length of the lens: h = Sensor Size F = Focal Length of the Lens

FOV is represented by this equation: FOV = 2tan-1(h) / 2F

Example: h = 4.7mm F = 6mm FOV = 2tan-1(h) / 2F = 2tan-1(4.7)(12) = 2tan-1(0.39) = 2(21.4°) = 42.8°

Wireless Home Monitor: Audio not working

If the audio is not working on your Wireless Home Monitor:

• Ensure that the protective film is removed from the camera lens.

• Ensure that the monitor volume is not muted. A mute icon () will be visible on the screen if the volume has been muted.

• Turn the monitor volume up using the volume buttons on the side of the unit. Location will vary by model. For exact location of volume buttons for your model, refer to your user manual. Click here for downloads and documentation for your product.

• The camera must be in Full Screen mode for audio. Tap the Channel Select icon () to switch between channels in Full Screen mode. Audio is disabled in Quad mode.

If audio is not working after increasing the volume and viewing in Full Screen mode, restore the system to default settings.

To restore your monitor to default settings:

CAUTION: Restoring to default settings will erase any setting input on the monitor. Your monitor will need to be reconfigured.

Connect Your System

Step 1. [Important] Properly install the Antennas for the cameras Step 2. Power up the cameras using the power supplies (12V 1A)

Step 3. Connect the NVR to your wall socket with its power supply (12V 2A) Step 4. Connect the NVR to your router with an Ethernet cable

Step 5. Connect the NVR to a HD monitor (at least 1920x1080p) with either a HDMI or VGA Step 6. Plug the mouse (included) into the USB port at the rear panel of the NVR.

Step 3: If this is the first time that you use IE to view your cameras, you may be asked to download and install some add-ons (i.e. WebClient.exe) in order to gain full access, please go on and follow the on-screen instruction to install the add-on. Once it is installed, close your IE and re-open it to enter the NVR’s IP address. Meanwhile, on your IE, please go to:

⑴ Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > Custom Level.

⑵ Scroll down the mouse until you see ActiveX controls and plug-ins. If you have Internet Explorer 9 or 11, disable

Allow ActiveX Filtering.

⑶ Choose Prompt for the following: Download signed ActiveX controls

Download unsigned ActiveX controls

Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting

Step4: Click OK to exit the Security Settings after you complete the settings.

Add Cameras by Matching Code

2.Add extra camera by Matching Code

2.1Power on the new camera connect it to the NVR through Network cable.

2.2Right-click your mouse on the NVR menu, go to Video Manage. (See the screenshot to the right)

2.3Click Refresh > Find the camera’s IP > Click Match Code. The NVR will start to match code with the camera. After it matches code successfully, the “status” will show as “Connect success”, which means the camera has been added to the NVR successfully. See below:

To do Match Code, you will need to delete the failed channel first, Right click > Video Manage > Added device, choose the failed channel, then click Delete to the right hand side. Then follow step 2.3 as stated above.

Tips: All cameras provided in the box are already pre-paired with the NVR, so normally you don’t need to do Match Code for the cameras supplied.

Video Recording

.

Your system may not include an internal Hard Drive. (This depends on which model you bought, we sell systems with or without hard drive). If your system does not include a hard drive, please install one of your own, the system works with most 3.5 inch SATA Hard Drive.

⑴ Power off the NVR system and unplug all cables, NVR cover is secured with screws. Remove the screws and slide the cover off.

.

⑵ Find the two SATA Connections (power and data) on the NVR main board, plug the two cable connections into the hard drive (They only go one way), place the HDD over the screw slots of your NVR and slide the HDD into place, then install the hard drive with the screws.

Tips: Once the hard drive is installed go to the NVR setting and find HDD Setup: Right click the mouse > Go to System setup > General setup > HDD Setup > Format, then click on Format. The hard drive should format then after a restart be ready to use.

Right click the mouse > Go to System Setup > Record Setup > Choose the Channel > Click Time > Set up the time frame on the grid > Click Copy to > All > OK > OK.

Tips: When you are setting up the time frame for recording, you can left click and drag your mouse, or you can left click the little box on the grid, the color of the little box will change, which means it has been selected. Each day of the week is corresponding to 3 lines, the first line for Time (regular recording), the second line for Motion (motion recording), and the third line for Alarm (alarm recording). You should click Time, Motion, or Alarm above the grid first before you configure the timing below.

Video Playback

Right click the mouse > Video playback. You can set the search criteria: Date, Time, Channel, Record Mode (Manual/Motion/Time/Alarm), and click Search. Left click or drag your mouse on the time bar (at the bottom) to start the playback. Under Search, you can see all episodes of the recording, navigate to your desired page and episode, and click File Playback to play.

Motion Detection Recording

Step1: Right click the mouse, go to System Setup > Record Setup > Choose the Channel > Click Motion > Set up the time frame on the grid > Click Copy to > All > OK > OK. You may click Reset to erase all the selection on the grid, and configure again.  If you schedule the recording the way below (green line from Sun to Sat, 00:00-24:00), it means your NVR will only record when movement is detected within this time frame (Sunday-Saturday, 24/7).

Step2: Go to Channel Setup > Video detection > Choose the Channel, then from the drop-down menu of Detection, choose Motion > Set up the Sensitivity > Check the boxes below for Alarm, Buzzer, Email Notice or App Alarm per your needs > Click Copy to > Choose All > Click OK to save the setting.

Tips: The area being monitored for motion can be edited under Area Edit. Click Area Edit, by default, the whole screen was selected and being monitored, if you want to mask specific area, left click and drag your mouse, or simply left click your mouse on specific boxes of the grid to unselect them. You can also right click your mouse to unselect the whole screen, or select the whole screen over again, right click your mouse and choose Return to exit.

How to Do Video Backup via USB Device

Step 1 Find a USB memory stick. Since there is only one USB port on the NVR, please find the USB adapter provided in the package, connect it to the USB port of your NVR, it will then allow you to connect multiple USB devices (mouse and the memory stick) into the same USB port.

Step 2 Right click the mouse > Choose Video backup > Choose the Channel, Record mode, Search time > Click

Search > Select the video you want to backup > Click Backup.

Tips: The maximum backup capacity is 32GB. Recordings will be backed up at hourly intervals.

The mist is more or less a rapid drop in temperature – one solution might be the use of a see-through rain cover, or a large enough zip-lock bag with appropriate cuts, applied before taking the camera out of doors to minimize the humidity trapped in it.

Otherwise, the same humidity will still condense within the rain cover itself instead of in the camera just like when one uses a rain cover in cold weather with a warm camera. Another, not as practical, but effective solution might be to regulate the temperature around the camera, but isolating it from humidity is the more guaranteed solution, even if it is only applicable in very few situations. If the issue remains, you may send it back for replacement, please contact us via email.

Question: My NVR is not recording, why?

Answer: We sell NVR with / without hard drive, so make sure your NVR comes with a preinstalled hard drive. If your NVR does not include a hard drive, you can source one on your own, or you can purchase one from us. If you have a spare hard drive and you can install on your own, make sure it is a 3.5 inch internal hard drive with SATA connector.

If your NVR comes with a hard drive but it is not recording, please verify the hard drive info, if it is not showing hard drive info, open the NVR case and verify the cable connection. If it shows up error under the hard drive info, Right click the mouse > Go to System setup > General setup > HDD Setup > Format, then click on Format.

Note that because the hard drive records continuously (24/7), it may become corrupted after some time, we warrant the hard drive up to 12 month following the purchase date, if your hard drive is not recording anymore, you may still contact us via email.

Question: I forget my login password and I am locked out?

Answer: You can use the following method to reset your system manually.

On the log-in screen, if you enter the wrong password, it should give you the above error message. Don’t click the OK button yet, instead, hover your mouse there, left click, right click, left click, right click, repeat this operation a few more times, until you see the following screen, which indicates you can reset your system now, click Yes to proceed.

Question: How to set up email notification (for example, Gmail)?

Answer:

Step 1. Right Click > System setup > Network setup > Check the NVR status and make sure it is online, see below:

Step 2. Right Click > System setup > Channel Setup > Video detection, make sure E-Mail Notice is checked. See below

Step 3. Log into your Gmail account, and go to this link to turn on Access for lower secure apps (Allow less secure apps: ON).  Link: https://myaccount.google.com/security?pli=1#connectedapps.

Step 4. Go to System setup > Network setup > E-Mail, enter the following info: SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 587

Username/Password: Your Gmail account/Password Encryption Type: SSL (or TLS).

Sender: Your Gmail.

Sendee 1/2: Receiver email address.

Step 5. Click Test.

Question: My NVR shows Offline all the time, how to get it to show Online?

Answer: 1. Login to your router setup portal (i.e 192.168.x.x) and find the DHCP option, make sure it’s enabled.

Arlo devices only sends notifications according to the rules in the mode that is currently active. To reduce unwanted notifications, you might need to adjust the position of one or more cameras, reduce motion or audio sensitivity, change your notification settings, or create a custom mode.  

To reduce the number of unwanted notifications that you receive:

1. Position your camera so that it does not pick up the motion that is triggering the camera to notify you.
   For example, if Arlo is notifying you about cars passing in the street, aim your camera so that the street is outside the camera’s field of view. For more information about camera positioning, visit: How do I position my Arlo wire-free camera?
2. Create activity zones for your camera to focus on.
   For more information about activity zones, visit: What are activity zones and how do I create them?
3. If you are unable to position your camera so that the field of view only includes motion that you care about, reduce your camera’s motion sensitivity instead.
   You must reduce your camera’s motion sensitivity in the rules for each mode in which you receive unwanted notifications.

   If you are receiving unwanted sound-triggered notifications, reduce the audio sensitivity settings on the camera or cameras that are triggering too often.
4. You can also edit your modes and rules to record based only on motion if all of the sound-based notifications are unwanted.

If you like the amount of videos that Arlo is recording, but you want to receive fewer notifications, either edit the notification settings in your modes and rules or create a different custom mode for when you want recordings without notifications.
For example, you can create a mode that records but does not send notifications so that you can watch pet videos in your Arlo library without getting notified every time your pet moves or makes noise.

Arlo Secure Smart Notification Options

With an Arlo Secure subscription, you can use Smart Notifications to select which notifications you receive. You can purchase a plan for multiple cameras, a single camera, or both. This provides a flexible and customizable experience for your Arlo system. You can activate any combination of the following features in the Arlo Secure app to determine what kind of motion alerts you want to receive.

• Person Detection. With the Arlo Person Detection feature, you receive real-time alerts when people approach your home. The person detection feature also allows you to search your recording library for videos containing people. For more information about camera positioning, visit: What is Arlo’s person detection feature?
• Package Detection. The Package Detection feature allows you to receive rich notifications when your Arlo camera sees a package being picked up or dropped off. With Package Detection turned on in the Arlo Secure app, your camera detects packages as small as a shoe box. For more information, visit: What is the Arlo package detection feature?
• Animal and Vehicle Detection. The Vehicle Detection feature detects cars, trucks, buses, motorbikes, and bicycles, and allows you to receive rich notifications when your Arlo camera detects a vehicle. The animal detection feature allows you to receive rich notifications when your Arlo camera detects an animal. It detects any animal larger than a small rodent.

Alarm Detection. The Alarm Detection feature notifies you on the Arlo Secure app when an Arlo camera hears a smoke and/or carbon monoxide (CO) detector’s alarm. When motion detection is enabled for your Arlo camera, you can choose what type of motion you want to be notified about.

To edit advanced motion alert settings on your Arlo camera: 

1. Launch the Arlo Secure app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
2. Tap or click Settings.
3. Under Arlo Smart or Arlo Secure, tap or click Smart Notifications.
4. Select a camera for which you want to receive Arlo notifications.
5. Tap or click the sliders to choose what type of motion you want Arlo to notify you about.

• People
• Vehicles
• Animal
• Alarm Detection
• All Other Motion

6. Under Alert Options, decide if you want to receive video previews in your motion alerts.

Setting a schedule for your Arlo camera (Optional)

You can set a schedule to activate and deactivate cameras automatically. Schedules recur weekly. For example, the schedule for Tuesday repeats every Tuesday as long as the schedule is turned on.

Arlo is preconfigured with the following schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All motion sensors are on.
• All other times. All motion sensors are off.

The following instructions are the same if you’re logged in to your Arlo account using the Android app, iOS app, or web browser.

To set a schedule for a camera:

1. Launch the Arlo Secure app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
2. Tap or click Mode.
3. Select a device.
4. Tap or click Schedule.
5. Tap the pencil icon or click > next to Schedule.
   The Schedule page displays.
6. Tap or click Add.
   The Add Schedule page displays.
7. Set the days and times for your new schedule.
   Note: To add an overnight schedule such as 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., you need to add two separate schedules, as shown in the screenshot below. First, add 8:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., then add 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
8. Tap or click Done.
   Your new schedule is saved.

How to Reset the Camera to Factory Default

Factory reset a camera from your Arlo account

To factory reset your camera while it is connected to the cloud: 

1. Launch the Arlo app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
2. Tap or click Settings > My Devices and select the camera you want to reset.
3. Tap or click Remove Device.
4. Tap or click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the camera from your account.
5. Return to the Devices page.
6. Tap Add New Device.
7. Select Cameras.
8. Follow the prompts to reconnect your camera to your WiFi network, Base Station, or SmartHub.

Factory reset an Arlo camera with the sync button

To factory reset your camera if it is offline or does not have battery power: 

1. Unmount your camera and find the sync button. The location of the sync button varies for different camera models:

Pro 3, Pro 4, Floodlight, Ultra and Go 2 models:
Release the camera from the camera housing to access the sync button. Example:

Essential Wire-Free, Pro, Pro2, and other models:
Find the sync button on the camera housing. Examples:

2. For Pro and Pro 2: Press and hold the sync button for about 15 seconds, until the camera LED begins blinking blue, then let go.
For Essential Wire-Free: Press and hold the sync button for about 15 seconds, until the camera LED begins blinking blue, then let go. Ensure that the camera LED blinks amber three times.

Note: If you accidentally hold the sync button too long, return to step 1.

3. Launch the Arlo app or log in to my.arlo.com.
4. Tap or click Settings > My Devices and select the camera you just reset.
5. Tap or click Remove Device.
6. Tap or click Yes to confirm.
7. Return to the Devices page and tap or click Add New Device.
8. Select Cameras.
9. Follow the prompts to connect the camera to your WiFi network, base station, or SmartHub.
10. If needed, insert the camera back into its camera housing until it clicks back into place.
