What is Privacy Mode?

Privacy mode allows you to temporarily disable your camera’s remote viewing and recording capabilities. While in Privacy mode, your camera will display a blue screen in your mobile app.    

Can I install a new camera or move my old one?

Normally a Vivint Smart Home Professional will install and position your Vivint Indoor Camera, but after installation you can move your cameras wherever you want. If you move your cameras or receive a new camera and would like to learn how to, see Vivint Indoor Camera – Installation Guide.

What do I do if my recording schedules aren’t working?

If your Vivint Indoor Camera’s schedules are not working, make sure that your camera is working and that the light on the front is green.

If everything is working, check and make sure that your schedules are turned on in the Recording Schedules section for your cameras.

If they still aren’t working, you may need to delete and recreate them. See Vivint Indoor Camera – Create Custom Recording Schedules.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Identify LED Meanings

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

White: Connected/normal operation

No Light: Privacy mode enabled or no power

Blue: Two-way talk

Green: Ready to connect

Yellow: Rebooting

Red: Not connected to the panel

Breathing White: Connected to the panel, but not connected to the internet

Important Notes

• Before any camera troubleshooting, be sure the panel is VPN-connected to WiFi.
• Because the camera does not require mounted installation, some range issues may be resolved by relocating the camera.

Common Issues

• Camera Offline – There maybe an offline alert on the panel. Check that the camera has not been unplugged.
• Missing / No Clips – The panel may be getting some clips but not every clip, which would indicate that the clip creation function is working, but perhaps not uploading all of the clips desired. Double check the camera network results and camera history for evidence.
• Live Video – If live video will not load within 8 seconds, there are many potential causes for this issue, but most commonly it is networking.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Offline

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

If your Vivint Indoor Camera shows it’s offline, you can take these steps to fix the issue.

Make sure the camera has power

Make sure the camera is plugged into a working outlet and the cord is securely plugged into the back of the camera.

To test the outlet, unplug the camera and plug a different device into the same outlet. If it also doesn’t receive power, try restoring power to the outlet.

Restart your camera

Unplug your camera for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

Restart your router

Unplug your router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. If you have multiple routers or a separate modem, restart them as well.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Not Recording Clips

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

If your Vivint Indoor Camera is online and you are able to see the live feed, but it is not recording any clips, there are a few things you can check to fix the problem.

1.First, make sure that your camera is set to record when motion is triggered. Click here to learn how to check this setting from your Vivint Sky App.
2.The next setting you will want to check is your video motion detection settings. You can adjust the motion detection settings from your SkyControl panel by following the steps here.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Installation Guide

Congratulations on your new Vivint Indoor Camera (formerly called the Ping Camera)! Let’s get it set up and integrated into your system right away. This article will walk you through the process, whether you are starting off fresh, or replacing an existing camera.

Disarm your system

Remove your existing Vivint Indoor Camera

*Skip this section if you’re not removing an existing camera.

If you’re replacing an existing camera, delete it from the panel by tapping: Menu, Devices followed by your 4-digit PIN, Cameras (select the device you want to remove), then Delete. Once deleted from the panel, physically remove it and return as instructed by Vivint.

Decide where you want your new camera

Make sure it’s within 200 feet of the panel and there are as few obstructions (walls, furniture, etc.) to line of sight as possible. You can either set your camera on a flat surface or mount it to a wall. To mount the camera, use the included screws and/or drywall plugs to mount the magnetic base plate, then attach the camera to the magnetic base.

Plug in your camera

It will take just a few minutes for it to boot up.

Go to your panel settings

From the home screen, tap the three dot Menu icon in the bottom right corner, tap Devices under SMART HOME SETTINGS, then enter your 4-digit PIN.

Tap Add new device, then tap Vivint Indoor Camera.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Initiate 2 Way Talk from the App

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

Your Vivint Indoor Camera enables you to stay connected to your home and family, even when you are away. When viewing the live feed of your Vivint Indoor Camera, you will be able to hear what is going on in the home. If you would like to initiate the two-way talk feature from the Vivint Smart Home app, follow the steps below. 

1.From the home screen of the Vivint Smart Home app, tap the camera icon from the bottom navigation bar.

2.If you have multiple cameras, scroll up or down to find the thumbnail for your Vivint Indoor Camera.

3.The live feed will begin to play and the microphone icon will turn black when it is ready to use. Press and hold the microphone icon to speak through your Ping. Release the icon when you are done speaking. The icon will be orange when two-way talk is active. At home, the Vivint Indoor Camera LED light will change from white to blue to let people in the home know that you are attempting to speak with them.

◦ Make sure that your phone’s volume is turned up so that you can hear the audio from your Vivint Indoor Camera. Also, note that when you are holding down the microphone icon, you will not be able to hear the person you are speaking with.
4.If someone in the home uses the one-touch call out, you will receive a push notification on your mobile phone with an option to answer and start a two-way talk conversation.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Enable Motion Triggered Clips

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

If you would like your Vivint Indoor Camera to record a clips when motion is detected, you can enable motion triggered clips from your Vivint Smart Home app by following these steps:

1.From your Vivint Smart Home app, tap the camera icon in the navigation bar.

2.Press the settings icon in the top right corner.

3.Press the camera you are working with.

4.Press Recording.

5.Toggle on or off the recording settings for the camera.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Adjust Video Motion Detection

This article explains how to adjust the video motion detection settings for your Vivint Indoor Camera. The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

There are three settings that directly affect the motion detection performance of your Vivint indoor camera. Below is a description of what each setting is and how to optimize them.

To learn how to adjust your video motion detection settings, follow the steps below based on your panel type.

1.Go to your SkyControl panel and tap the camera icon 

2.Tap your camera

3.Tap the settings icon in the top right corner

4.Enter your 4-digit PIN 

5.Tap Detection settings
6.Use the touch screen to adjust the size and placement of the motion detection area. You can also add additional areas. Use the sliders on the right to adjust the sensitivity and target area setting
◦ Motion Detection Box: This is the area in which your camera looks for motion. For optimum results, it is best to have a smaller box that is located where someone is most likely to pass through. The larger the box is, the more likely you are to get false motion detection. For example, if your camera is watching a hallway, your motion detection box only needs to cover a small box where people will pass through. You can also add more than one box for the indoor camera to capture motion. It is best not to place your motion detection boxes on windows, lights, plants or fans. (Lights can cause false motion detection) This allows you to avoid capturing videos of the tree outside the window or the fan moving.
◦ Target Size: The target size is the percent of your motion detection box that needs to be displaced or change to trigger motion detection. For example, if you have a small detection box that someone will walk through, you may want to set the target size to 50% or more to ensure you catch a person and not a cat walking by.
◦ Sensitivity: Motion detection sensitivity is how sensitive your camera is to movement. The sensitivity is best left around 85% for optimum results.
7.Go back to the camera settings menu to save your changes

Vivint Indoor Camera – Enter Privacy Mode

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

Privacy mode allows you to temporarily disable your Vivint Indoor Camera’s remote viewing and recording capabilities. While in privacy mode, your camera will display a blue screen on your online account. To enter privacy mode, complete the following steps:

1.Go to your SkyControl panel and tap the camera icon.

2.Tap your Vivint Indoor Camera.

3.Tap the settings gear icon in the top right corner.

4.Enter your 4-digit PIN.

5.Use the toggle to turn the privacy mode on and off.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Test

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

When your Vivint Indoor Camera is installed and set up, you can test it to ensure it is working properly. You can test your camera from either your SkyControl panel or the Vivint Sky app. To test your camera, follow these steps:

From the SkyControl Panel

1.Go to your SkyControl panel and tap the camera icon.

2.Tap your Vivint Indoor Camera.

3.The live feed will load and play.

4.If your camera is not showing up or you are unable to view the live feed, your camera may be offline. Click here to learn how to troubleshoot the issue.

From the Vivint Smart Home App

1.Login to your Vivint app and tap the camera icon from the menu bar.

2.If you have multiple cameras, scroll up or down to find the thumbnail for your Ping camera and select it.

3.Press the play icon to view the live feed. You can rotate your mobile device to see the video feed in a larger view. If your camera is not showing up or you are unable to view the live feed, your camera may be offline. Click here to learn how to troubleshoot the issue.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Initiate One-Touch Call Out

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

Want a quick and easy way to get in touch with your family? You can initiate the one-touch call-out feature on the Vivint Indoor Camera by following the steps below.

1.Approach your Vivint Indoor Camera and press the button on the top.

2.All admin users that have the Vivint Smart Home app downloaded and are logged in to your system will receive a notification on their mobile phone. The Ping LED light will change to a breathing blue and make a ringing sound while calling out.

◦ The Vivint Indoor Camera will attempt to call out for 45 seconds. If no one answers the call, it will return to the standard white LED.
3.Once an admin user opens the live feed on their app, the LED light will change to solid blue to indicate that the two-way conversation is established.

4.The Vivint Indoor Camera LED will return to white when you are done talking and the admin closes the live feed view in their app.

Vivint Indoor Camera – Delete and Re-Add

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

If your Vivint Indoor Camera camera shows as offline and you have already followed the troubleshooting steps here, you will need to delete and re-add your camera to your panel. Follow the steps below to learn how.

Delete your Vivint Indoor Camera from your panel 

1.From the home screen of your panel, tap the menu icon
2.Tap ‘Devices’
3.Enter your 4-Digit PIN
4.Tap ‘Cameras’ and then tap your Vivint Indoor Camera
5.Scroll down and tap ‘Delete camera’

Factory reset your Vivint Indoor Camera

1.Go to your Vivint Indoor Camera and unplug it
2.While plugging the camera back in, press and hold the top button until the light turns red
3.The camera will go through a series of lights before turning green and announcing that it is ready to connect to your Vivint system

Get the panel ready to add your Vivint Indoor Camera

1.From the home screen of your panel, tap the settings icon
2.Tap ‘Devices’
3.Enter your 4-Digit PIN
4.Tap ‘Add device’
5.Tap the Vivint Indoor Camera
6.The panel will ask you to make sure the Ping is plugged in and ready to connect. Tap ‘Connect’

Add your Vivint Indoor Camera

1.While the panel is looking for the device, go to your Vivint Indoor Camera
2.Press and hold the top button on your Ping for three seconds until you hear a tone
3.The camera will announce that it is now connecting to your Vivint system
4.The panel will take a few minutes to add the camera and the camera will announce that it is finalizing and then ready to view
5.From your panel, you will be able to name your Vivint Indoor Camera and then view the live feed

Vivint Indoor Camera – Create Custom Recording Schedules

The Vivint Indoor Camera was previously known as the Ping Camera.

You can create system-triggered recording or motion-triggered recordings for your Vivint Indoor Camera.

A system triggered recording means your cameras will start recording when an event is triggered by part of your system, i.e your panel, door locks, etc.

1.Login to your Vivint Sky app and tap the menu icon (three horizontal bars) 

2.Tap ‘Custom Actions’ 

3.Select ‘Rule’ and tap the plus icon from the top right corner 

4.Tap ‘Cameras to record’ 

5.Use the check boxes to select the camera you would like to record 

6.Decide what should trigger the recording 

7.Decide during what time this rule should occur 

8.The new rule will be summarized for you here. Tap ‘Done’ to save the new rule
