Detail Solutions:

A:  Forget NVR Password?

1. Please click the mouse from the home screen, and “Logo Out–>Log Out”

2. Right click the mouse again, click “ Main Menu”–> “Forget password –> Forget answer”, you will see the “QR Code”

3. Please open your mobile APP “XMeye Pro”

（1）Click the Scan icon on the top left corner

（2）Scan the “CAPTCHA” on the TV monitor, then you will get a code from the mobile phone APP or from your email, and enter the code into “CAPTCHA”, so you will be able to reset the password on the Monitor connected to DVR

1. Download PC Client “VMS” and installed

2. Login with the default User Name and Password. Click “SIGN IN”.

Default User name is: admin

3. Navigate to “Device Manager”–>”Manual Add”

4. Login Type: Cloud ID Device Name:

Name Your Device as you like

Cloud ID : Device Serial Number. We need to go to the TV Monitor connected to the NVR , and find out the information on TV Monitor UI, then right click the mouse to navigate to the path of “Main Menu–>Advanced–>Version” to find out the information “serial number”

User Name and password: Input the user name and password that you created for the NVR , and we also need to find this from the Monitor UI.

5. Navigate to “Live View”, Click on the device name(serial number), then select “Open All By Sub Stream”

C:  How to Sign up account on Mobile APP (XMEye Pro) ?

Please follow these instructions to sign up for an account via your mobile number.

1. Click on Sign Up

2. Sign Up by email or Select Mobile Number

3. Select the correct country code +1, input your mobile number and click on “Get code”

4. A code will be sent to the mobile phone number, input the verification code and continue.

D:  Add Device on Mobile Phone APP (XMEye Pro)?

Steps:

–>1. Please connect the NVR/DVR box to your Router via Network Cable; (Some customers think it can support WIFI connection, while wired systems only support wired router connection, and have to be wired to router via ethernet cable)

–>2. Go to Monitor UI Interface, and Navigate to “Main Menu > Network > Net Service”, if the “Cloud Status” shows connected, means NVR/DVR is online (Please skip step3),

–>3. If the cloud status shows “Probing DNS”, Please Navigate to “Main Menu > Network > Check the icon of “Enable DHCP”–>Apply;

–>Reboot the DVR by unplugging the power adapter and re-plug it, then double-check the cloud status ( only cloud status shows )

–>4. Go to your TV Monitor, navigate to “Main Menu–>Advanced–>Version”–> You will see the serial number.

The QR code contains Serial number info. We need this information after we add the device to mobile phone APP

–>5. Open the mobile APP “XMeye Pro” and register an account by your email first

–>6. Click”+” to add device–>Choose “NVR”

Device Serial Number: Click the “Scan” icon to Scan QR Code On the NVR UI Interface (Main Menu–Advanced–Version), (QR code contains username and password)

No need to input the username and password manually.

And click “OK”, and go back to the Device page on App,and you will see the device shows status:online ,

E:  How to enable Alarm Notifications on APP XMEye Pro?

1.Make the Alarm setting is already set on Monitor UI Interface

2. Please right-click mouse and navigate to “Main Menu–> Alarm–>Motion Detect/Human Detect/Face Detect–> Enable “Mobile Reported”–>click “OK”

(Default Setting is for Channel 1, Please select “All” channels.)

2.Open “XMeye Pro” mobile App, and navigate to “Event–>Device (the one you named)–>Enable “Allow Notifications”

F:  Configure Offline Camera or Add a New Camera?

—>1. After connect the camera to NVR via network cable, if the camera power on properly, the camera’s indicator light should be blinking.(see picture attached)

When you cover the camera’s photocell or put the camera in dark place, the infrared LED should turn on red color.

—>2. If camera powered on properly please follow below instructions.

1.Right-click mouse navigate to “Quick Setup(or Channel Set) –>Cancel

2. In the second box, if any camera status is offline or not connected, please select it and click ”Delete” first

3. Click “Search”, can you see new IP address showed on the topper box?

4. Select the IP address in topper box and click Network–>Auto Assigned–>OK

5. If auto assigned successfully, please click “Add” to add the camera.

G:  No Video Display on TV Monitor Or Blank Screen?

My UI Interface shows “No signal” or “Black Screen” ？

We need to divert this issue into two situations:

1.NVR Indicator light is on:

(1) Cause: The camera system’s video output resolution is 1080P. If your TV monitor resolution is below 1080P, this issue will occur.

Steps:

Please right-click and hold your mouse for over 10 seconds to see if the system can reboot or not. Or, please try to connect the system to another TV monitor with a higher resolution (above 1080P)

.

(2) Cause: The hard disk drive inside of the DVR box is broken, and use the screwdriver to open the DVR box to unplug the wires of the hard disk drive, and reboot the DVR to have a try. If the DVR box can be rebooted after unplugging the wires of the hard disk drive(HDD), which means the HDD is having an issue, and needs a replacement, plz contact email love@hiseeu.com for replacement HDD

After steps, if the thing still cann’t be resolved, which means the NVR box is broken, plz contact email love@hiseeu.com for replacement NVR box if their warranty is still 1 year

2.NVR Indicator light is off:

(1) Cause: The power adapter 52V 2.5 A connected to the NVR box is broken

Step: Use another power supply 52V 2.5 A to power on the NVR unit to have a try ( If you do not have a spare one, can contact us to buy a new one or we send you a new one if your warranty is still under 1 year )

(2) Cause: The hard disk drive inside of the NVR box is broken Step: Use the screwdriver to open the NVR box to unplug the wires of the hard disk drive, and reboot the DVR to have a try. H:Why DVR/NVR can’t record or playback video?

If HDD(Hard disk drive) is having issue or something wrong with record setting, the DVR can’t record/playback the video

1.Check if the hard drive status is normal or error

Navigate to NVR/DVR Monitor UI Interface: Navigate to “Main Menu–>Advanced–>HDD info”

If status shows “Error” or No hard drive info , which means the hard drive is broken. (need to replace hard dirve)

2.Check the record plan is set up for 24/7 continuous recording

Navigate to “Main Menu–>Record Conf”

Channel : select “All”

Period: “00:00-24:00”

Select “Regular”

3. Please make sure the HDD was set up to “Overwrite”. (if it was set to “stop”, the system would stop recording when the storage is full)

Navigate to “Main Menu–>General–>Storage Full”

1. Add camera via NVR PoE Port

• If the camera is connected to NVR PoE port directly, the IP address

range should be modified to “172.16.0.X” (X is between 2 to 255)

Please right-click mouse and navigate to Camera

For brand new camera (password is 123456 by default), NVR will detect

and add camera automatically.

If the camera’s user name or password has been changed, you are required to input the info manually.

Move the mouse to the status icon , you will see the error message. “Offline [incorrect Username to Password]”

Please click on the edit icon to input password manually and click on “OK” to continue.

2.Add Camera to NVR via PoE Switch or Router

NVR will detect the camera under the same WLAN and list IPC here

• Click on plug icon to add the camera. If the camera has default user name: admin, password: 123456.

NVR will add it automatically.

• If the camera’s password has been changed, please click on the setting icon to modify the info.

• In this situation, the camera IP address range should be the same as NVR’s IP range

(You can check NVR IP by navigating to Network>Basic> TCP/IP). If not, please contact the technician to modify the camera’s IP first.

Camera Not working

Camera not working?

1.(Port issue) Insert the camera to another port of the NVR to have a try, and wait at least 5 minutes

2. (Camera issue) Make sure if the camera infrared light will turn on red or not in the night time

3. Also plz right click your mouse to “Menu-Camera”, and take a photo of this whole page and send it to us

（Check how many cameras are discovered）

Also go back to the home screen and Check connection status, to see if it shows” Network disconnected” or “incorrect user name and password”

Device Offline on APP or NVR?

Device Offline on APP or NVR?

If the device shows offline on mobile phone app  “Guard Viewer” , we need to make sure the NVR is connected to network perfectly or not

Go next to your Monitor that connected to NVR, and check out the network status

first navigate to this path first : “Menu–Network–Basic–P2P” , also check the device status is online or not,

if it shows: network disconnected, plz enable the DHCP in this path ” Menu–Network–Basic-TCP/IP ” and click “Apply” . After that, go back to “P2P” and check if the device status is online or not

Also , please make sure the PPPOE needs to be disabled, plz navigate to “Network–Advanced–PPPoE”

1. Set up the Alarm light First Right-click your mouse to “Menu– VCA — Intrusion Detection/Crossing Line Detection– Triggered Actions” , and draw the rules for the alarm type

After you set up an alarm type (Like”Intrusion Detection”, or “Crossing Line Detection”), Click on “Alarm Linkage”, you will have the option to Enable “Alarm Light” (Spotlight is only Available During the Night)

2. Enable Alarm Light on “Triggered Action– Alarm Light” for each channel, and Click “OK”

Forget NVR Password？

If you forget your current password, please follow the instructions to reset it.

1. In the system login interface, please click on “Enter Password” > “Forgot Password”

2.If you filled in your email address as a reserved email when you set up the system, you can reset the device password via the APP(Guard Viewer) by navigate to “Me–General–Forget Device Password”

3.Scan the above QR code by app and the security code will be sent to your email address.

4. Enter the security code from email to reset the password

Add Device to APP(Guard Viewer)

Auto add is not suggested. Please tap on “Later” if you see this message box.

In this situation, it will Auto Search to discover the NVR device connected to the local network. But once your mobile phone disconnects with LAN WiFi, you will not be able to view it anymore.

How to share Device to others via APP Guard Viewer?

One device linked to One User ONLY. The NVR system ONLY can be controlled by one authorized account, who can share the device with others in order to prevent attacking or hacking.

For admin user, please follow the instructions to share the device with others:

1.Type on “Menu Icon ” and navigate to “Devices”

.

2.Tape on “… ” > “Share”, You can select a single channel to share or select the entire NVR system to share

(1) Share device by typing in the user name you wanted to share with and selecting function as needed.

• The other user needs to register a Guard Viewer APP account and provide the user name for sharing.

• After that, when this user login the APP will find the device by navigate to “Devices”

(2) Share device by generate a QR code

• Create a sharing password and set the valid period

• Click “Generate”, your APP will generate a QR code

• Other users can use the APP to add the device by scanning the QR code you sent

How to Install xmeye poe nvr systems

1.Power on the NVR with the 48Vor 52V power adapter.

At your first login to the system, there will be a quick guide to help you set up the basic information of your NVR.

Time Setup

Please adjust the time and date to be the same as your local.

Network

On this page you could see the network information about your system. Click “Next” to continue.

Install XMeye App

Scan QR code of the App to download the app.After the app downloaded, please create your own profile account on the app. And then scan the QR code of the serial number of the NVR to add it into the app. Please ensure the NVR is online before you watch videos of it on the App.

CameralChannel Setting

Before installing your cameras to the final position, please check and adjust the position and the angle of the cameras.

Adjust the display settings of the monitor images

General Setting

In the General Settings, you can change the language, the action when the storage is full and the auto logout intervals if you want to get a better protection of your NVR.

Record Configuration

In the Record Configuration, you can set up the record mode for each channel to save space of the HDD and only record the important videos. 

Channel: The channel which you want to do settings of record configuration.

Length: The standard length of each video segment.

Mode:The way you want to record videos. 

1.Schedule:The selected channel will only record during the chosen time period.

2.Manual: The selected channel will record 24/7.

3.Stop:The selected channel will not record any video.

*Notice: If you would like to set the recording mode to “Alarm”, please make sure that you have enabled the alarm function of the corresponding channel.

The Al smart security camera system supports intelligent alerts.such as human detection and face detection. In order to adjust the related settings, please enter “Intelligent Alert “in “Alarm” menu.

Channel:Choose the camera which you want to do alert settings. 

Enable:When you tick off it , the camera will not detect any movements. 

Human Detect:The camera will detect human activities by recognizing humanoid body shape.

Face Detection:The camera will detect human face when this is ticked. 

Record: When this option is ticked on, the camera will record a video segment when human detected. 

Mobile Reported: When it is ticked on, the camera will send alert notifications to your mobile app when it detects movements or human activities.

Alarm Sound: When it is ticked on, the camera will sound a voice alarm when it detects movements or human activities.

Sensitivity:Adjust the detection sensitivity of the camera. 

Rule:Set advanced detection rules like safe zone or line cross alarm. 

*Notice: If the “Enable” option is on and the “Human Detect” is off, the camera will detect all movements, including pets, vehicles, plants, trees, etc. Therefore, we recommend you to active “Human Detect” to reduce false alerts. It shows that “Human Detect” function can reduce 98%-99% of the false alerts.

Advanced Settings of Human Detection

Period: The time period of the detection. 

MD Interval: The interval between 2 human motion movements alerts. 

PostRec: To adjust the length of the video after the camera detects abnormal movements.

Tour: Not applicable. 

Snapshot: When it is ticked on, the camera will take snapshots when it detects abnormal movements.

On screen of the monitor with live video , you can view the human faces detected by the cameras. You can easily and quickly get whether the persons detected by the camera are your friends or an intruder. If it is an intruder, the face detection function can help take some actions as soon as possible to protect your safety and property. Please follow the path below to enable the “Face Detection”.

When the cameras detect human faces, the NVR will show you these faces on the right side of the screen like the image above.

How to Set Up Your Email to Receive Alert Notifications

Please follow the paths below to set up the email which you want to get alerts from the security camera system.

Right-Click Menu > Main Menu > Network > Net Service > EMAIL (Please OUBLE CLICK on “EMAIL” to enter the setting interface)

Please enter the required information of your emails in the “User Name” “Sender” and “Receiver”.
If you want to receive the alert notifications with an email different from sender email address, you can input a different email in the “Receiver”.
In the “Password”, you need a 16 digits App password. Let’s take “Gmail “as an example to show you how to get this password.

How To Get 16-Digit App Password

Enable IMAP access of your e-mail.

Log into your Google account. In “Security” section, find “Signing in to Google”.

If the “2-Step Verification” is off, please enable it.

Enter ”App passwords”. Select the app and device for which you want to generate the app password, or you can name your own app and device, then click “GENERATE”.

You will get a 16 digits password, this is the password you need to use later to set up your e-mail notice in NVR system.

* Notice: You are not able to review the password after you click “DONE” so please note it down or leave this page open.

Rule – Safe Zone & Line Cross Alarm

We can set up a safe zone for our camera.

The camera will only detect or sound alarm when there’s abnormal activities in the safe zone. Click on the “Set” button next to “Rule”.

Choose the safe zone shape which you would like to use. In this user manual, we use rectangle as example.

Enable: The master switch of the video blind alarm.

*e.g. You have set channel 1 and channel 2 to record videos in “video blind” interface. One day, a burglar walks to your front door and your channel 1 camera sounds an alarm. The burglar covers the camera with his jacket and run to your driveway, where your channel 2 camera is installed. When the video blind alarm is triggered by channel 1, because you have set channel 2 to record videos too, so the channel 2 camera will also record videos and you will have videos with multiple angles of this burglar. These evidence will help police officers to catch this criminal.

How to Setup DDNS on Camius DVR and NVR Surveillance Recorder?

To setup DDNS for Camius security cameras, you’ll first need to register for a DDNS service, obtain a domain name, activate DDNS in your camera’s network settings, and then input your DDNS account’s hostname, username, and password.

If you want to access your Camius DVR or NVR recorder remotely from your PC, you might encounter some difficulties with dynamic IP addresses. A dynamic IP address is one that changes every time you connect to the internet, making it hard to establish a stable connection with your recorder. That’s where DDNS comes in handy.

What is DDNS?

Dynamic DNS, or DDNS, stands for Dynamic Domain Name System, and it allows you to assign a static domain name to your recorder, regardless of its IP address. This way, you can always connect to your recorder using the same URL without worrying about IP changes.

Dynamic DNS lets you access your Camius security camera device on the internet with an easy-to-remember web address like “camiusnvr.dyndns.com” instead of a hard-to-remember IP address like 216.144.47.245. Setting up DDNS

In this guide, we will take you through the steps of setting up DDNS on your Camius DVR or NVR recorder. You will need to have an account with a DDNS service provider, such as DDNS_3322, DYNDNS, NO_IP, CHANGEIP, or DNSEXIT.

Step 1:

Create an account on your preferred DDNS service provider website and a domain name (which is a hostname for your Camius DVR/NVR or an IP camera). Each of these providers offers free and paid accounts, which you need to select based on your requirements.

You will need to provide your email address and create a password. After verifying your email, you will be able to log in to your dashboard. The process of creating an account with DDNS service providers is similar.

Create a domain name for your recorder on the DDNS server. You can usually choose any domain name (hostname) you like, as long as it is not already taken. For example, you can use something like camius.no-ip.org or camius2023.dyndns.com

Installation

You can connect either hard-wire the PoE cameras or connect WiFi cameras wirelessly (except for battery-powered cameras) to the NVR. Below is a common network topology of the connection.

You can do the initial setup on a monitor or TV connected with an HDMI/VGA cable, or through the Reolink App or Reolink Client.  

Step 1. Connect the NVR to a Monitor or TV via the VGA or HDMI cable.
Step 2. Connect the camera’s RJ45 network socket to any PoE Camera port on the NVR using the Ethernet cables provided.
Step 3. Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the NVR to the LAN port of your router.
Step 4. Connect the mouse to the USB port.

Step 5. Connect the Power Adapter. Please use the supplied power adapter. For the PoE NVR device, it is 48 volts.
Step 6. And then you will see the below splash screen. System booting up might take a few seconds.
Step 7. Follow the Setup Wizard to set your NVR, click Next to continue and at the last step, click Finish to save all the settings.

How to Add Reolink Cameras to Reolink PoE NVR

Reolink PoE NVR allows you to record videos for Reolink IP cameras without using a computer. To do that, you need to add the camera to the NVR first. The cabling for PoE NVR is shown below.

Applies to: All Reolink IP cameras (excluding battery-powered cameras) and PoE NVRs with the hardware version H3MB02/H3MB16

You may then follow the steps below to add Reolink cameras to Reolink PoE NVR.

Step 1. Connect your Reolink IP cameras to the Reolink PoE NVR. There’re two different ways of powering your IP cameras:

There are two ways of connection:

 a. Connect the PoE cameras to the PoE NVR directly via an Ethernet cable. (suggested way)

 b. Alternatively, you can power on this camera by a PoE switch/injector and connect to your router, then add this camera to the POE NVR system in the same local network.

All Reolink WiFi cameras (except for battery-powered cameras) can be used with Reolink PoE NVRs, too. You need to connect them in LAN, the connection diagram is as below:

Note: Make sure all the IP cameras you want to add to the NVR are connected to the same network (LAN) as the NVR. Otherwise, the cameras won’t be shown on the scanned list and cannot be automatically added to the NVR.

Step 2. Log in to your NVR, and go to the IP channel.

Step 3. Select Auto Add, and click Scan so that all the cameras in the same LAN can be automatically shown on the list.

Note: The number of cameras that can be added to the NVR may vary depending on the NVR channel numbers of the NVR.

Step 4. If you have never changed the password of the IP cameras (the default password of the IP camera is blank) and there are enough channels for all the cameras, you may click Apply to add all the IP cameras to the NVR.

However, if you have changed the login passwords of the IP cameras or there is no spare channel to display all the IP cameras, you may need to go through a few more steps.

Step 5. If you have an 8-channel NVR and more than 8 IP cameras, please choose the 8 of them you want to add to the NVR and manually change the other cameras’ Channel to None.

Note: You may assign the IP cameras to any channel you want, but you cannot have two cameras on the same channel, otherwise configurations would fail to be saved.

Step 6. If you have changed the User Name and the Password of your cameras, please drag the menu bar to the password column and use the soft keyboard to input the required information.

Step 7. Click Apply to save and apply the configuration.

RLN8-410 (with the hardware version H3MB02) and RLN16-410 (with the hardware version H3MB02 and H3MB16) don’t work with 8MP cameras including B800/D800. The 4k cameras can only work with RLN8-410-E (with the hardware version H3MB16 and H3MB18) and RLN16-410 (with the hardware version H3MB18). And only the RLN8-410(H3MB18, N3MB01) and RLN16-410 (H3MB18) support the Human/Vehicle detection function.

How to Initially Set up Reolink NVRs with Monitor Connected (New UI)

1. If there is no display, please connect it to a VGA monitor and change its resolution to 1920*080.
2. If you need audio output on your TV monitor, the resolution MUST be set to 1920*1080 or 1280*720.

Step 3. Connect the camera’s RJ45 network socket to any PoE Camera port on the NVR using the Ethernet cables provided.

Step 4. Connect the NVR to a power outlet with the supplied power adapter, and then turn on the power switch.

Step 5. And then you will see the below splash screen. System booting up might take a few seconds.

Note: If the monitor screen remains black, check if you flip on the power switch on the back of the NVR.

Step 6. General configurations. Set up the language, screen resolution, date Format, and time format. Then click Next.

Step 7. DST settings. Set up the system time and time zone, and enable/disable the DST option. Then click Next.

Step 8. Create a password for your NVR, and enable/disable screen auto-lock. Then click Next.

Step 9. Set up a password security question. Then click Next.

Step 10. Name your device and manage your HDD. Then click Next.

Step 11. Configure the network for your NVR. Then click Next.

Step 12. Set up E-mails for your NVR up to your need. Then click Next.

Troubleshooting for RLN8-410

Here are some troubleshooting tips for RLN8-410. You may check whether your camera’s issue is listed below. If not, you may go to the Troubleshooting section to find suggestions for more issues or you may contact Reolink support for help.

If the NVR stops working and the power LED is not on, you may follow the troubleshooting tips listed below to solve the problems.

Cause 1. Power adapter issue

Solution: Check the status LED on the power adaptor of the NVR. If the LED isn’t on, please plug the power adaptor into another socket as well as change another working power adaptor (48V) for a try. If the LED is on, please check the HDD issue below.

Cause 2. HDD issue

Solution: Please unplug the HDD and check if the NVR will power on when no HDD is plugged in. You may open the NVR housing and refer to How to Change the HDD for Reolink NVR to remove the HDD. 

Cause 3. The voltage is not sufficient.

Solution: Unplug the cameras. If the NVR power LED goes on, please replug the camera back one by one.

When you connect the NVR via a monitor and start up the NVR, the NVR is freezing on the Reolink Logo Page. There are several possible causes for the issue. You may follow the troubleshooting tips listed below to solve the problem. 
.

Cause 1. HDD issue

Solution: Please unplug the HDD and check if the NVR will power on when no HDD is plugged in. You may open the NVR housing and refer to How to Change the HDD for Reolink NVR to remove the HDD.

Cause 2. The voltage is not sufficient. 

Solution: Unplug the cameras that are connected to the NVR and check if the NVR can boot up.

Cause 3. Firmware issue

Solution: Please refresh the firmware using a USB drive.

If there’s no video output on the monitor from Reolink NVR, you may follow the troubleshooting tips listed below to solve the problem. There are several possible causes for the problem.
.

Cause 1. The video output resolution of the NVR is not supported by the monitor/TV. 

Solution: Ensure that the lowest resolution of the TV/monitor is no less than 720p.

Cause 2. HDMI/VGA port on the NVR or the monitor/TV is defective. 

Solution: Check whether the cable is defective by using it to connect other devices to the router and see if it works. Or please test with another HDMI/VGA cable or monitor/TV.

If you found that the NVR is rebooting, below are some possible causes and solutions that you may refer to. 

Cause 1. UPS issue

Solution: If you use the UPS to power the NVR on, please plug the NVR directly into a wall socket and have it run for one or two days then check if the NVR reboots.

Cause 2. HDD issue

Solution: Please unplug the HDD and have the NVR run for one or two days then check if the NVR reboots. 

Cause 3: The cameras and the NVR are both grounded. 

Solution: Please unplug all the cameras from the NVR and have the NVR run on its own for one or two days and check if it still reboots (Please disable auto-reboot before you run the test). If the NVR doesn’t reboot, the issue may be caused by both the NVR and the cameras being grounded. Please check whether the cameras and the NVR are grounded. If yes, please unground either the NVR or the cameras to fix the issue.

If you noticed that after plugging the new cameras into the NVR, the camera’s image does not show up on the monitor and it prompts “video loss”. The following troubleshooting may be helpful to you.

Cause 1. No available channels

Solution: Delete the offline cameras from the IP channel, or manually assign a channel for the camera. 

Cause 2. The new camera is distributed with the same IP address as the other cameras. 

Solution: Please reset the camera and restore the NVR.

Cause 3. The camera shows “invalid password” or “incorrect username and password”. 

Solution: Put the password of the camera.

If you fail to connect the NVR through the network, below are some possible causes and solutions for your reference.

Cause 1. NVR is powered off. 

Solution: Check whether the power light is on. If it is off, please refer to POE NVR Failed to Power on.

Cause 2. The LAN port is defective. 
Solution: Please check if the LAN port on the back lights up or not. If not, please try another ethernet cable and port on the router for a test.
Cause 3. The gateway is 0.
Solution: Please change a router or switch and further check the issue. Please also reboot the NVR and check if the issue remains.

Please upgrade the NVR’s firmware to the latest firmware.

When you fail to playback the videos of the NVR and find the capacity of the HDD is 0GB, or it shows “HDD not detected”, here are some possible causes for your reference.
.

Cause 1. The firmware version of the NVR is old. 

Solution: Please find out the firmware version of the NVR and go to the Download Center to download and unzip the package to upgrade it. 

Cause 2. The format of the HDD is wrong. 

Solution: Please format/init the HDD to try again, please refer to Check/Init HDD via PoE NVR.

Cause 3. Defective HDD

Solution: Please unplug and replug the HDD to see if it works. If possible, please test with another working HDD.

Configuration – RLN8-410

RLN8-410 is an eight-channel network video recorder that is used for centrally controlling the devices that are connected to it. With diffenernt hardware versions, RLN8-410 can acheive different features. Generally, it can be used for setting up detection for the cameras, managing the channels, upgrading the devices that are connected, etc. 

To better learn the working principles and settings of this NVR, here are some instructions for your reference.

Motion Detection

Generally, Reolink cameras are capable of motion detection. RLN8-410 is able to manage the configurations of motion detection for cameras that are connected to it. 

To achieve the detection settings you want, you could try on the monitor, the Reolink App, or Reolink Client. Below are some instructions for your reference. 

Old UI: 
1. Log into your NVR on a monitor and go to the NVR settings. 
2. For configuring motion recording, go to “Menu>Recording>Schedule” page, then select the channel (camera) and check the Enable box. Select “Motion” and tap on the grids to choose the time that you want to enable motion detection recording, and then click Apply to save the settings.

3. For setting up motion detection, go to “Menu>Alarm”. Click on “Motion Detection>Set”, then you can configure the motion detection settings (including motion detection area and sensitivity), motion schedule, and action.

Smart Detection

Smart detection includes Smart Person, Vehicle, and Pet Detection. It is based on the traditional motion detection but with advanced algorithms and technology, which can tell people, vehicles, and pets from other objects. You can set up detection sensitivity, detection zone, object size, etc. for the cameras via the NVR. 

Please notice that for 8-channel NVRs, only if the hardware version is N2MB02/N3MB01 can it achieve the smart detection settings.
To check the version of your NVR, you can refer to How to Find out System Information via Reolink App or contact Reolink Support Team for confirmation. 

On Monitor

1. Please go to the Menu of your NVR, and go to “Surveillance>Record>Daily Schedule”.
2. Under the Record Schedule page, please choose the camera model/channel you want to set up the record schedule. 
3. Under the Alarm schedule, please enable/choose the detection type and then enable the time & date for detection.

There are three detection types: ” Any Motion”,” Person” and ” Vehicle”. Please enable/choose either of them or combine two options or all of them together according to your own needs.

Buzzer

Buzzer includes motion buzzer and exception buzzer. It is the sound that comes from the NVR when the cameras detect motions or the NVR detects abnormalities. Conditions like HDD full, HDD error, network disconnected and IP conflict will be marked as exceptions.

You could set up motion buzzer via the monitor, Reolink App, or Reolink Client. Please notice that the exception buzzer can only be set up via the monitor.
Below are some basic instructions for your reference. 

Old UI:
1. Set up Motion Buzzer:
Go to “NVR>Menu>Alarm>Motion>Action”, and tick Buzzer for selected cameras (channels). Click Apply to save the settings.

2. Set up Exception Buzzer:
Go to “NVR>Menu>Alarm>Exception”, select the exception type you want, and tick Buzzer then click Apply to save the settings. Choose the Type for the exception alarm based on your requirement.

1. Set up Motion Buzzer:

1.Click  button to go to Device Settings>Channel Setting>Buzzer. If you want to enable/disable the alarm buzzer, please turn it on/off the Buzzer.
Please notice that this setting will apply to all the cameras connected to the NVR.

Channel Management

When a camera is successfully connected to the NVR, it will be distributed an IP address and a channel by the NVR for connection. Hence, with the NVR, you’re able to check the status of all the connected cameras at the same time. On the channel management page, you’re able to check the status of each channel/camera, delete the offline devices, arrange channel orders, etc.

Below are some basic instructions that you may refer to. 

On Monitor (Old UI)

1.Launch your Monitor of NVR, go to Menu>IP channel page. Then you will find the camera status in the sidebar of the IP channel page.

2.If you would like to delete the offline cameras, change the Channel of the disconnected IP camera to None and then click on Apply.

3.If you would like to change the display order of the camera, expand the selection bar to assign a channel for each camera. After that, click Apply to save the settings.

On Monitor (New UI)

1.Launch your Monitor of NVR, then chooseMenu>Channel>Replace. You will find the camera status in the sidebar of the IP channel page.

2.If you would like to delete the offline camera, click on the offline camera and tap the Delete button to delete it from the NVR. Then the channel this camera was taken is free now.

Upgrade

As a centralized management system, RLN8-410 is able to upgrade both the NVR and the cameras that are connected to it. Below are some basic steps of upgrading for your reference. 

1.Unzip/extract the firmware file on your PC and transfer the PAK file to a USB, then insert the USB to the NVR USB port. 
Please notice that there are two USB ports on the NVR. One is at the front and the other one is at the back of the NVR. 

2.Log in to your Reolink PoE NVR on an NVR monitor, then go to Device Settings>System>Maintenance page.

3.Choose the correct firmware file and start to upgrade.
*If you only want to upgrade the firmware for the PoE NVR, you may click the Upgrade From USB and select the correct firmware file, then tap on the Upgrade button.
*If you need to upgrade the firmware for cameras that are connected to the PoE NVR, please choose Upgrade IPC From USB, then select the correct firmware for each channel and click on the Upgrade button to start upgrading.

Chapter 1 Startup

1.1 Activate Your Device

For the first-time access, you need to activate the video recorder by setting an admin password. No operation is allowed before activation. You can also activate the video recorder via web browser, SADP or client software.

Patrol refers to a path consists of a series of presets with designated sequence. It provides dynamic live image for monitoring several presets.

1. Preview a camera in live view and click on shortcut menu.

3. Select a desired patrol.
4. Click Set.
5. Click + .
6. Configure key point parameters, such as the key point No., duration of staying for one key point and speed of patrol. The key point is corresponding to the preset. The preset number determines the order at which the PTZ will follow while cycling through the patrol. Duration refers to the time span to stay at the corresponding key point. Speed defines the speed at which the PTZ will move from one key point to the next.

Select a patrol and click Call to call it. The PTZ camera will move according the predefined patrol path.

3.4 Back up Clip

You can clip videos during playback. Video clips can be exported to the backup device (USB flash drives, USB HDDs, USB writer, SATA writer, etc.).

You can reset your password when you forgot your login pattern and password.

1. Click Forgot Password at the password login interface.
2. Click Next if you agree the Privacy Policy, you can scan the QR code to read it.
3. Follow the wizard to reset password.

5.1.3 Exception

You can receive exception events hint in alarm center, and set exception linkage actions.

1. Go to Configuration ^ System ^ Exception .
2. Optional: Configure event hint. When the set events occur, you will receive hints in alarm center.

4. Click at the upper-right corner of local menu to enter alarm center.

4. Scan the QR code to read the service terms and privacy statement.
5. Check I have read and agree to Service Terms and Privacy Statement. if you agree the service terms and privacy statement..

7. Optional: Check Stream Encryption. It requires to enter verification code in remote access and live view after this function is enabled.
8. Optional: Check Custom, and edit Server Address.
9. Enter a code in Verification Code. You can click Refresh to randomly generate a verification code.
10. Bind your device with a HiLookVision account.
11. Use a smart phone to scan the QR code, and download HiLookVision app. You can also download it from https://appstore.hikvision.com, or the QR code below. Refer to HiLookVision Mobile Client User Manual for details.

Add Network Camera Manually

Before You Start

• Ensure your network camera is on the same network segment with your video recorder.
• Ensure the network connection is valid and correct.
• Ensure the network camera is activated.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ IP Camera .
2. Click + .
3. Set network camera parameters, including IP address, protocol, management port, etc. You can check Use IPC Active Password to use the device password to add network camera(s).
4. Optional: Click Add More to add another network camera.
5. Click OK.

Edit Connected Network Camera

You can edit the IP address, protocol and other parameters of the added network cameras.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ IP Camera .
2. Click / to edit the selected camera.

Channel Port

If the connected device is an encoding device with multiple channels, you can select the channel port No. to choose a connecting channel.

1. Click OK.

Sort Channel Order

Channel layout windows are ordered by channel number. You can change the camera linked channel number by dragging windows.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ Camera .
2. Click Sort Channel.
3. Drag a channel window to the channel number as your desire.
4. Click Apply.

After sorting channels, the device will reconnect to network cameras.

Configure Remote Settings

For the camera parameters that were only configurable via web browser, remote settings function provides an operation interface to configure remote camera parameters.

Before You Start

Ensure your camera is properly connected.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ IP Camera .
2. Click Remote Settings
3. After the device resource is initialized, select a camera.
4. Set camera parameters.

Upgrade Network Camera

The Network camera can be remotely upgraded through the device.

Before You Start

• Ensure you have inserted the USB flash drive to the device, and it contains the network camera upgrade firmware.
• Ensure your network camera is on the same network segment with your video recorder.
• Ensure the network connection is valid and correct.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ IP Camera .
2. Click O .
3. Click Yes to confirm.
4. Select the camera upgrade firmware from your storage device.
5. Click Upgrade to start upgrading. The camera will restarted automatically after upgrade completed.

Configure Advanced Camera Parameters

You can configure advanced camera parameters like camera IP address, camera password, etc.

• Ensure your network camera is on the same network segment with your video recorder.
• Ensure the network connection is valid and correct.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ IP Camera .
2. Click ® .
3. Set camera parameters like IP address, camera password, etc.

5.3.2 OSD Settings

Configure OSD (On-Screen Display) settings for the camera, including date format, camera name, etc.

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ OSD .
2. Select a camera.

5.3.3 Event

Motion Detection

Motion detection enables the video recorder to detect the moving objects in the monitored area and trigger alarms.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ Motion Detection .
2. Select a camera.
3. Check Enable.
4. Set the motion detection area.

• Click Draw Area or Clear to draw or clear areas. The first area is set as full screen by default.
• Click Full Screen to set the motion detection area as full screen. You can drag on the preview window to draw motion detection areas.

The operation may differ according to different models.

1. Adjust Sensitivity. Sensitivity allows you to calibrate how readily movement triggers the alarm. A higher value results in the more readily to triggers motion detection.
2. Set analysis mode as AI or PIR.

AI

The motion detection event will be analyzed by your device.

PIR

The motion detection event will be analyzed by certain analog PIR cameras.

1. Optional: Set Target Detection as Human or Vehicle to discard alarms which are not triggered by human or vehicle.

US Note

This function is only available for certain models.

1. Set the arming schedule. Refer to Configure Arming Schedule for details.
2. Set the linkage actions. Refer to Configure Alarm Linkage Action for details.

Configure Arming Schedule

Steps

1. Select Arming Schedule.
2. Choose one day of a week and set the time segment. Up to eight time periods can be set within each day.

Full Screen Monitoring

The local monitor will display the alarming channel image in full screen when an alarm is triggered. It requires to select the alarming channel(s) in Trigger Channel.

It will trigger an audible beep when an alarm is triggered.

Notify Surveillance Center

The device will send an exception or alarm signal to the remote client software when an alarm is triggered.

Send Email

It will send an email with alarm information when an alarm is triggered.

PTZ Linkage

It will trigger PTZ actions (e.g., call preset/patrol/pattern) when smart events occur.

5.4 Device Management

• • 1. Switch

Add and manage switches.

Quick Add Switch

Quick add switch(es) in the same network segment with the video recorder. If the switch is not activated, it will be added with the channel default password.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Device Management ^ Switch.
2. In the Online Device List, check the switch(es) to be added and click Add to add switch(es) in the same network segment with the video recorder using the channel default password.

Add Switch Manually

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Device Management ^ Switch .
2. In the Online Device List, click Add and set the parameters of the channel.

5.5 Recording Management

• • 1. Storage Device

Initialize HDD

A newly installed hard disk drive (HDD) must be initialized before it can be used to save videos and information.

Before You Start

Install at least an HDD to your video recorder. For detailed steps, refer to Quick Start Guide.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Storage .
2. Select an HDD.
3. Click Init.

Repair Database

Repair an HDD that with error in database. Please operate it with the help of professional technical support.

Secure Erase

Secure erase will delete videos in the selected disk(s).

Add Network Disk

You can add the allocated NAS or IP SAN disk to the video recorder, and use it as a network HDD.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Storage .
2. Click Add.
3. Select NetHDD.
4. Set Type as NAS or IPSAN.
5. Enter NetHDD IP address.
6. Click Search to search the available disks.

7. Select NAS disk from the list, or manually enter the directory in NetHDD Directory.

8. Click OK. The added NetHDD will be displayed in the storage device list.

5.5.2 Configure Recording Schedule

Video recorder will automatically start/stop recording according to the configured schedule.

Configure Continuous Recording

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Parameter .
2. Set the continuous main stream/sub-stream recording parameters for the camera. Refer to Configure Recording Parameter for details.
3. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Schedule .
4. Select recording type as Continuous. Refer to Edit Schedule for details.

Configure Event Recording

You can configure the recording triggered by the motion detection, line crossing detection, and intrusion detection.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event ^ Smart Event .
2. Configure the event detection and select the channels to trigger the recording when an event occurs.
3. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Parameter .
4. Set the continuous main stream/sub-stream recording parameters for the camera. Refer to Configure Recording Parameter for details.
5. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Schedule .
6. Select recording type as Event. Refer to Edit Schedule for details.

5.5.3 Configure Recording Parameter

Main Stream

Main stream refers to the primary stream that affects data recorded to the hard disk drive and will directly determine your video quality and image size. Comparing with the sub­stream, the main stream provides a higher quality video with higher resolution and frame rate.

Sub-Stream

Sub-stream is a second codec that runs alongside the mainstream. It allows you to reduce the outgoing internet bandwidth without sacrificing your direct recording quality. Sub-stream is often exclusively used by smartphone applications to view live video. Users with limited internet speeds may benefit most from this setting.

Frame Rate

Frame rate refers to how many frames are captured each second. A higher frame rate is advantageous when there is movement in the video stream, as it maintains image quality throughout.

Resolution

Image resolution is a measure of how much detail a digital image can hold: the greater the resolution, the greater the level of detail. Resolution can be specified as the number of pixel­columns (width) by the number of pixel-rows (height), e.g.,1024×768.

Bitrate

The bit rate (in Kbit/s or Mbit/s) is often referred to as speed, but actually defines the number of bits/time unit and not distance/time unit.

C® Note

Higher resolution, frame rate, and bitrate provide you better video quality, but it also requires more internet bandwidth and uses more storage space on the hard disk drive.

Chapter 6 Configuration (Expert Mode)

Go to Configuration , and click Expert Mode at the lower-left corner.

Configure Basic Settings

You can configure the language, system time, output resolution, mouse pointer speed, lock screen password, etc.

Go to Configuration ^ System ^ General ^ Basic Settings , configure the parameters as your desire, and click Apply.

Language

The default language is English.

VGA/HDMI Resolution

Select the output resolution, which must be the same with the resolution of the VGA/HDMI display.

Lock Screen Password

You need to enter password for authentication if the screen is locked.

Mouse Pointer Speed

Set the speed of mouse pointer. 4 levels are configurable.

Wizard

The wizard will pop up after the device starts up.

Enhanced Decoding Mode

Disabling enhanced decoding mode will reduce the local decoding capability by half and restart the device.

Configure DST Settings

DST (Daylight Saving Time) refers to the period of the year when clocks are moved one period ahead. In some areas worldwide, this has the effect of creating more sunlit hours in the evening during months when the weather is the warmest.

Go to Configuration ^ System ^ General ^ DST Settings , configure the parameters as your desire, and click Apply.

Configure More Settings

You can configure your device name, lock screen time, output mode, etc.

Go to Configuration ^ System ^ General ^ More Settings , configure the parameters as your desire, and click Apply.

Device Name

Edit the video recorder name.

Device No.

The number is required in the connection with remote control, network keyboard, etc. Edit the serial number of video recorder. The device number ranges from 1 to 255, and the default value is 255.

Lock Screen

Set timeout time for lock screen.

Menu Output Mode

Choose output to display local menu.

Configure Channel-Zero Encoding

Enable the channel-zero encoding when you need to get a remote view of many channels in real time from a web browser or CMS (Client Management System) software, in order to decrease the bandwidth requirement without affecting the image quality.

6.2 Network Configuration

TCP/IP must be properly configured before you operate video recorder over network.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Network ^ General ^ TCP/IP .
2. Configure network parameters.

Working Mode

Multi-address Mode

The parameters of the two NIC cards can be configured independently. You can select LAN1 or LAN2 in the NIC type field for parameter settings. You can select one NIC card as default route. And then the system is connecting with the extranet and the data will be forwarded through the default route.

Net-fault Tolerance Mode

The two NIC cards use the same IP address, and you can select the Main NIC to LAN1 or LAN2. By this way, in case of one NIC card failure, the video recorder will automatically enable the other standby NIC card so as to ensure the normal running of the whole system.

Load Balance Mode

By using the same IP address and two NIC cards share the load of the total bandwidth, which enables the system to provide two Gigabit network capacity.

NIC Type

Select NIC type as your desire. If your device supports Wi-Fi dongle function, the NIC of Wi-Fi dongle would be selectable after a suitable Wi-Fi dongle is installed.

DHCP

If the DHCP server is available, you can check Enable DHCP to automatically obtain an IP address and other network settings from that server.

MTU

The maximum transmission unit (MTU) is the size of the largest network layer protocol data unit that can be communicated in a single network transaction.

Default Route

Select a route as your desire. If your device supports Wi-Fi dongle function, the route of Wi-Fi dongle would be selectable after a suitable Wi-Fi dongle is installed.

Auto Obtain DNS

If DHCP is checked. You can check Obtain DNS Automatically to obtain Preferred DNS Server and Alternate DNS Server.

Dynamic domain name server (DDNS) maps dynamic user IP addresses to a fixed domain name server.

Two ways are provided for port mapping to realize the remote access via the cross-segment network, UPnP™ and manual mapping.

Before You Start

Enable the UPnP™ function of your router if UPnP™ is required. When the device network working mode is multi-address, the default device route should be on the same network segment as the LAN IP address of the router.

Steps

1. Configuration ^ Network ^ General ^ NAT .
2. Check Enable.
3. Select Mapping Type as Manual or Auto

Auto The port mapping items are read-only, and the external ports are set by the router automatically. You can click Refresh to get the latest status of the port mapping.

Manual Select an external port type. Click / to edit External Port. You can use the default external port No., or change it according to actual requirements. External Port indicates the port No. for port mapping in the router.

The value of the RTSP port No. should be 554 or between 1024 and 65535, while the value of the other ports should be between 1 and 65535 and the value must be different from each other. If multiple devices are configured for the UPnP™ settings under the same router, the value of the port No. for each device should be unique.

1. Set the virtual server of your router, including internal source port, external source port, etc. The virtual server parameters shall be corresponding with your device port.

Set different port types to enable relevant functions as your desire.

Go to Configuration ^ Network ^ General ^ More Settings .

Alarm Host IP/Port

The device will send the alarm event or exception message to the alarm host when an alarm is triggered. The remote alarm host must have the client management system (CMS) software installed.

Alarm Host IP refers to the IP address of the remote PC on which the CMS software (e.g., iVMS-4200) is installed, and the Alarm Host Port (7200 by default) must be the same as the alarm monitoring port configured in the software.

Server Port

For remote client software access. Ranges from 2000 to 65535. The default value is 8000.

HTTP Port

For remote web browser access. The default value is 80.

Multicast IP

Multicast can be configured to enable live view for cameras that exceed the maximum number allowed through network. A multicast IP address covers Class-D IP ranging from 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255 and it is recommended to use the IP address ranging from 239.252.0.0 to 239.255.255.255.

When adding a device to the CMS software, the multicast address must be the same as that of the device.

RTSP Port

RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) is a network control protocol designed for use in entertainment and communications systems to control streaming media servers. The port is 554 by default.

Output Bandwidth Limit

You can check the checkbox to enable output bandwidth limit.

Output Bandwidth

After enable the output bandwidth limit, input the output bandwidth.

If your network camera is on a different network segment, the device can search its IP address within a range of IP addresses, and add it.

If an inactive network camera or third party ONVIF camera is connected to your network, the video recorder may automatically detect and add the camera, or notify you to manually add it.

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ Camera ^ IP Channel .
2. Click More.
3. Select Plug-and-Play.
4. Optional: Enable Auto Add Network Camera. The video recorder would automatically detect and add the inactive network camera or third party ONVIF camera.

Edit Connected Network Camera

You can edit the IP address, protocol and other parameters of the added network cameras.

2. Click / of an added network camera.

Channel Port

If the connected device is an encoding device with multiple channels, you can choose the channel to connect by selecting the channel port No. in the drop-down list.

Upgrade Network Camera

The Network camera can be remotely upgraded through the device.

Before You Start

• Ensure you have inserted the USB flash drive to the device, and it contains the network camera upgrade firmware.
• Ensure your network camera is on the same network segment with your video recorder.
• Ensure the network connection is valid and correct.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ Camera .
2. Click .
3. Click Yes to confirm.
4. Select the camera upgrade firmware from your storage device.
5. Click Upgrade to start upgrading. The camera will restarted automatically after upgrade completed.

Add Network Camera Through PoE

The PoE interfaces enable the device to transfer electrical power and data to connected PoE cameras. And the PoE interface supports the Plug-and-Play function. Connectable PoE camera number varies with device models. If you disable a PoE interface, you can also use it to connect to an online network camera.

Add PoE Camera

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ Camera ^ PoE Settings .
2. Enable or disable long network cable mode by selecting Long Distance or Short Distance.

Long Distance

Long-distance (100 to 300 meters) network transmissions via PoE interface.

Short Distance

Short-distance (< 100 meters) network transmission via PoE interface.

C® Note

• The PoE ports are enabled with the short distance mode by default.
• The bandwidth of IP camera connected to the PoE via long network cable (100 to 300 meters) cannot exceed 6 Mbps.
• The allowed max. long network cable may be less than 300 meters depending on different IP camera models and cable materials.
• When the transmission distance reaches 100 to 250 meters, you must use the CAT5e or CAT6 network cable to connect with the PoE interface.
• When the transmission distance reaches 250 to 300 meters, you must use the CAT6 network cable to connect with the PoE interface.

You can use the PoE channel resource to connect a non-PoE network camera.

The camera is physically connected to the PoE interface. You can click ® in the added device list to edit its parameters.

You can disable a PoE channel to additionally increase a normal IP channel resource.

Import/Export IP Camera Configuration File

The information of added network camera can be generated into an excel file and exported to the local device for backup, including the IP address, manage port, password of admin, etc. And the exported file can be edited on your computer, like adding or deleting the content, and copy the setting to other devices by importing the excel file to it.

Before You Start

Connect a backup device like USB flash drive to your video recorder.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Camera ^ IP Camera .
2. Click El
3. Click Export to export configuration files to the connected backup device.
4. To import a configuration file, select the file from the selected backup device and click Import. After the importing process is completed, you must reboot the video recorder.

H.265 Auto Switch Configuration

If you enable the option, video recorder will automatically switch to H.265 stream for the network camera (which supports H.265 video format) for the initial access.

Channel Default Password Management

Change the default password of activating and adding network camera.

Exposure

Set the camera exposure time (1/10000 to 1 sec). A larger exposure value results in a brighter image.

Day/Night Switch

The camera can be set to day, night, or auto switch mode according to the surrounding illumination conditions.

Backlight

Set the camera’s wide dynamic range (0 to 100). When the surrounding illumination and the object have large differences in brightness, you should set the WDR value.

Motion detection enables the video recorder to detect the moving objects in the monitored area and trigger alarms.

Steps

4. Set the motion detection area.

• Click Draw Area or Clear to draw or clear areas. The first area is set as full screen by default.
• Click Full Screen to set the motion detection area as full screen. You can drag on the preview window to draw motion detection areas.

1. Adjust Sensitivity. Sensitivity allows you to calibrate how readily movement triggers the alarm. A higher value results in the more readily to triggers motion detection.
2. Set analysis mode as AI or PIR.

AI

The motion detection event will be analyzed by your device.

PIR

The motion detection event will be analyzed by certain analog PIR cameras.

1. Optional: Set Target Detection as Human or Vehicle to discard alarms which are not triggered by human or vehicle.
2. Set the arming schedule. Refer to Configure Arming Schedule for details.

Audio Alarm Output

When light and audio alarm camera is connected, you can set the parameters and arming schedule of the audio alarm.

Before You Start

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event ^ Normal Event ^ Flashing Light Alarm Output.
2. Click S for any row.
3. Select the Audio Type as Alarm Sound, Prompt Sound, or Custom Audio.

• When you select the Alarm Sound, you also need to upload the custom audio, enter the audio name and select the uploaded audio in the drop-down box of Custom Audio.

Exception

Exception events can be configured to take the event hint in the live view window and trigger alarm outputs and linkage actions.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event ^ Normal Event ^ Exception .
2. Configure event hint. When the set events occur, you will receive hints in alarm center.
3. Enable Event Hint.
4. Select events to hint. Choose from:

• Click @ of Event Hint Configuration to select events.

6.5.2 Perimeter Protection

Perimeter protection includes line crossing detection, intrusion detection, region entrance detection, and region exiting detection.

Perimeter protection is only available for certain device models or camera models.

Line Crossing Detection

Line crossing detection detects people, vehicles, and objects crossing a set virtual line. The detection direction can be set as bidirectional, from left to right or from right to left.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event ^ Perimeter Protection ^ Line Crossing .
2. Set Camera.
3. Select VCA Mode.

By NVR

The event will be analyzed by NVR. The device can analyze videos that contain human and vehicle. Only the target of selected type (human or vehicle) will trigger alarms, which can reduce false alarms that are caused by other objects.

By Camera

The event will be analyzed by camera.

1. Turn on Enable.
2. Set the detection rules and detection areas.
3. Set Arming Area.
4. Set Direction as A<->B, A->B, or A<-B.

A<->B

Only the arrow on the B side shows. An object crossing a configured line in both directions can be detected and trigger alarms.

A->B

Only an object crossing the configured line from the A side to the B side can be detected.

B->A

Only an object crossing the configured line from the B side to the A side can be detected.

1. Click Max. Size and draw a quadrilateral in the preview window to set the maximum draw area size.
2. Click Min. Size and draw a quadrilateral in the preview window to set the minimum draw area size.
3. Click Draw Area and draw a quadrilateral in the preview window by specifying four vertexes of the detection region.
4. Adjust Sensitivity. Sensitivity allows you to calibrate how readily movement triggers the alarm. A higher value results in the more readily to triggers motion detection.

Intrusion Detection

Intrusion detection function detects people, vehicles, or objects that enter and loiter in a pre­defined virtual region.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event ^ Perimeter Protection ^ Intrusion .
2. Select Camera to configure.
3. Turn on Enable.
4. Set the detection rules and detection areas.
5. Select Arming Area.
6. Adjust Time Threshold and Sensitivity.

Sensitivity

The size of the object that can trigger the alarm. The higher the value is, the more easily the detection alarm will be triggered. Its range is [1-100].

Time Threshold

Range [1s-10s], the threshold for the time of the object loitering in the region. When the duration of the object in the defined detection area is longer than the set time, the alarm will be triggered.

3. Check Enable Region Entrance Detection.
4. Check Save VCA Picture to save the captured pictures of VCA detection.
5. Set the detection rules and detection areas.
6. Select Arming Area. Up to 4 arming areas are selectable.
7. Click Draw Area and draw a quadrilateral in the preview window by specifying four vertexes of the detection region.
8. Adjust Sensitivity. Sensitivity: Range [0-100]. The higher the value is, the more easily the detection alarm can be triggered.
9. Set the arming schedule.
10. Set the linkage actions.
11. Click Apply.

Region Exiting Detection

Region exiting detection function detects people, vehicle or other objects which exit from a pre­defined virtual region, and some certain actions can be taken when the alarm is triggered.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event ^ Smart Event ^ Region Exiting .
2. Select Camera to configure.
3. Check Enable Region Exiting Detection.

Thermal Camera Detection

The device supports the event detection modes of thermal network cameras: fire detection, temperature detection, etc. You can configure the arming schedule and linkage actions of the selected event.

Before You Start

Add a thermal network camera to your device and make sure the camera is activated.

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event ^ Other Events .
2. Select a thermal camera detection event.
3. Set Camera.
4. Set the arming schedule. Refer to Configure Arming Schedule for details.
5. Set the linkage actions. Refer to Configure Alarm Linkage Action for details.
6. Click Apply.

2. Choose one day of a week and set the time segment. Up to eight time periods can be set within each day.

Configure Full Screen Monitoring

When an alarm is triggered, the local monitor displays in full screen the video image from the alarming channel configured for full screen monitoring. And when the alarm is triggered simultaneously in several channels, you must configure the auto-switch dwell time.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ System ^ Live View ^ General .
2. Set the event output and dwell time.

Event Output

Select the output to show event video.

Full Screen Monitoring Dwell Time

Set the time in seconds to show alarm event image. If alarms are triggered simultaneously in several channels, their full-screen images will be switched at an interval of 10 seconds (default dwell time).

1. Go to Linkage Action interface of the alarm detection.
2. Select Full Screen Monitoring alarm linkage action.
3. Select the channel(s) in Trigger Channel settings you want to make full screen monitoring.

OS Note

Auto-switch will terminate once the alarm stops and back to the live view interface.

Configure Audio Warning

The audio warning enables the video recorder to trigger an audible beep when an alarm is detected.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ System ^ Live View ^ General .
2. Enable Audio Output and set Volume.
3. Go to Linkage Action interface of the alarm detection.
4. Select Audio Warning alarm linkage action.

Notify Surveillance Center

The video recorder can send an exception or alarm signal to the remote alarm host when an event occurs. The alarm host refers to the computer installed with client software (e.g., iVMS-4200, iVMS-5200).

Steps

1. Log into video recorder in web browser.
2. Go to Configuration ^ Network ^ Advanced Settings ^ Other .
3. Set Alarm Host IP and Alarm Host Port.
4. In local menu, go to Linkage Action interface of the alarm detection.
5. Select Notify Surveillance Center.

Configure Email Linkage

The video recorder can send an email with alarm information to a user or users when an alarm is detected.

Steps

1. Switch to easy mode.
2. Go to Configuration ^ System ^ Network ^ Email .
3. Configure the Email settings.
4. Go to Linkage Action interface of the alarm detection.
5. Select Send Email alarm linkage action.

Trigger Alarm Output

The alarm output can be triggered by the normal and smart events.

Steps

1. Go to Linkage Action interface of the alarm input or event detection.
2. Click Trigger Alarm Output.
3. Select the alarm outputs to trigger.
4. Go to Configuration ^ System ^ Event ^ Normal Event ^ Alarm Output .
5. Select an alarm output item from the list. Refer to Alarm Outputfor the alarm output settings.

Configure PTZ Linkage

Video recorder can trigger the PTZ actions (e.g., call preset/patrol/pattern) when the alarm event, or VCA detection events occur.

Steps

1. Go to Linkage Action interface of the alarm input or VCA detection.
2. Select PTZ Linkage.
3. Select the camera to perform the PTZ actions.
4. Select the preset/patrol/pattern No. to call when the alarm events occur.

2. Set the continuous main stream/sub-stream recording parameters for the camera.
3. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Schedule .
4. Select recording type as Continuous.

Configure Event Recording

You can configure the recording triggered by the normal event or smart event.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Event .
2. Configure the event detection and select the cameras to trigger the recording when event occurs.
3. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Parameter .
4. Set the continuous main stream/sub-stream recording parameters for the camera.
5. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Schedule .
6. Select recording type as Event.

Edit Schedule

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Schedule .

Main stream refers to the primary stream that affects data recorded to the hard disk drive and will directly determine your video quality and image size. Comparing with the sub-stream, the main stream provides a higher quality video with higher resolution and frame rate.

Sub-stream is a second codec that runs alongside the mainstream. It allows you to reduce the outgoing internet bandwidth without sacrificing your direct recording quality. Sub-stream is often exclusively used by smartphone applications to view live video. Users with limited internet speeds may benefit most from this setting.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Parameter to configure camera main stream and sub-stream parameters.
2. Configure recording parameters.

Frame Rate

Frame rate refers to how many frames are captured each second. A higher frame rate is advantageous when there is movement in the video stream, as it maintains image quality throughout.

Resolution

Image resolution is a measure of how much detail a digital image can hold: the greater the resolution, the greater the level of detail. Resolution can be specified as the number of pixel­columns (width) by the number of pixel-rows (height), e.g.,1024×768.

Bitrate

The bit rate (in kbit/s or Mbit/s) is often referred to as speed, but actually defines the number of bits/time unit and not distance/time unit.

Enable H.264+

The H.264+ mode helps to ensure the high video quality with a lowered bitrate. It can effectively reduce the need of bandwidth and HDD storage space.

Audio Source

The audio input signal source. If you select Audio Source as Camera Audio, it will transmit audio via coaxial cable, and make the local audio input signal unavailable. Ensure the camera supports to transmit audio via coaxial cable before selecting Audio Source as Camera Audio.

Initialize HDD

If it is the first time you use your HDD, please initialize it after it is installed.

Before You Start

Install at least an HDD to your video recorder.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Storage .
2. Select an HDD.

Repair Database

Repair an HDD that with error in database. Please operate it with the help of professional technical support.

Secure Erase

Secure erase will delete videos in the selected disk(s).

Add Network Disk

You can add the allocated NAS or IP SAN disk to the video recorder, and use it as a network HDD.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Storage .
2. Click Add.
3. Select NetHDD.
4. Set Type as NAS or IPSAN.
5. Enter NetHDD IP address.
6. Click Search to search the available disks.
7. Select NAS disk from the list, or manually enter the directory in NetHDD Directory.
8. Click OK.

Result

The added NetHDD will be displayed in the storage device list.

Each camera can be configured with an allocated quota for storing videos.

Steps

1. Go to Configuration ^ Record ^ Storage Mode .
2. Select Mode as Quota.
3. Select a camera to set quota in Camera.
4. Enter the storage capacity in the text fields of Max. Record Capacity (GB) and Max. Picture Capacity (GB).

Restore the device to the inactive status, and leave all settings unchanged except restoring user accounts.

RTSP

You can specifically secure the stream data of live view by setting the RTSP authentication.

RTSP Authentication Type

Two authentication types are selectable, if you select digest, only the request with digest authentication can access the video stream by the RTSP protocol via the IP address. For security reasons, it is recommended to select digest as the authentication type.

ISAPA

ISAPI (Internet Server Application Programming Interface) is an open protocol based on HTTP, which can realize the communication between the system devices (e.g., network camera, NVR, etc.). The video recorder is as a server, the system can find and connect the video recorder.

HTTP

The admin user account can disable the HTTP service from the GUI or the web browser. After the HTTP is disabled, all the related services, including the ISAPI, Onvif and Gennetc, will terminate as well.

HTTP Authentication

If you need to enable the HTTP service, you can set the HTTP authentication to enhance the access security. Two authentication types are selectable, for security reasons, it is recommended to select digest as the authentication type.

IP Camera Occupation Detection

The function detects the network camera status. If the network camera has been added by another video recorder, the network camera status will show as □ in Online Device list.

You can enable or disable buzzer with alarm linkage or exceptional linkage.

Dual-Stream

Dual-stream is a technology used to record high resolution video locally while transmitting a lower resolution stream over the network. The two streams are generated by the DVR, with the main stream having a maximum resolution of 1080P and the sub-stream having a maximum resolution of CIF.

DVR

Acronym for Digital Video Recorder. A DVR is device that is able to accept video signals from analog cameras, compress the signal and store it on its hard drives.

HDD

Acronym for Hard Disk Drive. A storage medium which stores digitally encoded data on platters with magnetic surfaces.

DHCP

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network application protocol used by devices (DHCP clients) to obtain configuration information for operation in an Internet Protocol network.

HTTP

Acronym for Hypertext Transfer Protocol. A protocol to transfer hypertext request and information between servers and browsers over a network.

PPPoE

PPPoE, Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, is a network protocol for encapsulating Point-to- Point Protocol (PPP) frames inside Ethernet frames. It is used mainly with ADSL services where individual users connect to the ADSL transceiver (modem) over Ethernet and in plain Metro Ethernet networks.

DDNS

Dynamic DNS is a method, protocol, or network service that provides the capability for a networked device, such as a router or computer system using the Internet Protocol Suite, to notify a domain name server to change, in real time (ad-hoc) the active DNS configuration of its configured hostnames, addresses or other information stored in DNS.

Hybrid DVR

A hybrid DVR is a combination of a DVR and NVR.

NTP

Acronym for Network Time Protocol. A protocol designed to synchronize the clocks of computers over a network.

NTSC

Acronym for National Television System Committee. NTSC is an analog television standard used in such countries as the United States and Japan. Each frame of an NTSC signal contains 525 scan lines at 60Hz.

NVR

Acronym for Network Video Recorder. An NVR can be a PC-based or embedded system used for centralized management and storage for IP cameras, IP Domes and other DVRs.

PAL

Acronym for Phase Alternating Line. PAL is also another video standard used in broadcast televisions systems in large parts of the world. PAL signal contains 625 scan lines at 50Hz.

PTZ

Acronym for Pan, Tilt, Zoom. PTZ cameras are motor driven systems that allow the camera to pan left and right, tilt up and down and zoom in and out.

USB

Acronym for Universal Serial Bus. USB is a plug-and-play serial bus standard to interface devices to a host computer.

Sunba IP Camera Recording Option

Note an IP camera can work standalone without a NVR, which is different from a traditional analog system where Digital Video Recorder is a must-have.

In terms of recording, there are few options you can select from:

A. Record to a computer. This requires you to have a dedicated computer that is on for 24/7. This means if you shut down your PC/Mac, then the recording will stop as well.

B. Record to a TF card. Most Sunba IP cameras would have a built-in TF card slot that support up to 128GB micro SD card. 405-D20X can have the TF card pre-installed before shipment if you order from our website. 406-D20X, 305-D4X 405-ECO don’t have any built-in TF card slot (as of 12/31/2019). 405-ECO and 305-D4X would support micro SD card in the future. Please refer to the product detail page for the latest specification.

The limit for the TF card is 128 GB, Class 10 (Kingston recommended), so it is great for recording small motion detection clips instead of recording 24/7. This is also a good alternative/back-up for videos recorded on PC or elsewhere.

C. Record to a NVR. NVR is a dedicated recording storage device for IP cameras and it also has the benefit of viewing multiple different cameras together. In China and most East Asian countries, NVR is used very common. In USA and western countries, Blue Iris and other software + PC combo is used as an alternative to NVR. If you use Sunba IP camera with NVR from another manufacturer that is also ONVIF compliant, then basic functions such as PTZ, recording shall work but there is no guarantee that presets, motion detection will also work perfectly.

D. Record to a NAS. Your NAS must either support ONVIF or support Sunba private protocol. You will have to add our camera in the specific NAS’s interface instead of in Sunba camera’s interface.

Steps to add Sunba IP cameras to Hikvision PoE NVR

For Sunba Illuminati, it should be plug and play with Hikvision PoE NVR. Just make sure the NVR supports 802.3at and has sufficient power budget (at least 30W left) for the camera.

For Sunba 601-D20X, 601-D25X, 405-D20X, 405-ECO, 406-D20X, FT-HD and 305-D4X. Please see the instruction below.

The following instruction is made based on Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2, but should be applicable to all Hikvision PoE NVR.

The following tutorial assumes that you are using the back switch of the NVR to power the camera.

You need to first ensure that the PoE NVR is 802.3at (instead of 802.3af) with 25W as the maximum power output per port otherwise the NVR cannot supply enough power to the camera.

You can google to check the NVR Spec and if you are not sure, please contact Sunba support with the NVR model to double check.

Step 1. Check the PoE Gateway of your Hikvision NVR 

Usually the PoE NIC gateway of Hikvision PoE NVR is 192.168.254.1.

Step 2. Modify Sunba IP camera network information. 

Connect the camera to a generic PoE switch, to PC or to router to modify the camera’s network info first.

Go to Device Config-Network of the camera in IE/VMS, or use the Device Manger tool to modify the camera IP to match Hikvision POE NIC.

In the picture above, we modify the IP of the camera to be 192.168.254.XXX and the gateway to be 192.168.254.1 (that matches the PoE gateway of the Hikvision NVR).

Under Device Config-ENCODE, please select H.264 instead of H.265 as H.265 is only supported by Sunba Private Protocol.

Step 3. Connect the camera to Hikvision PoE NVR. 

Wait for the camera to finish the self-diagnostic rotates upon receiving power from the NVR. This can usually take 1-2 minutes.

Step 4. Go to Camera Management of the NVR Interface. 

Select and modify the channel that the camera is connected to, and input the corresponding info of the camera that you just input.

Step 5. Click OK and wait for the camera to connect, which takes usually a minute. 

You can also refresh the page. The camera is now online.

Step 6. Live view and set up preferred recording plan. 

Contact support@sunba.net if you still have trouble connecting to Hikvision PoE NVR or if you would want to connect to Hikvision PoE when powered using DC12V adapter.

Sunba Illuminati NetHDD Requirement

To record videos of Sunba Illuminati to NAS (NetHDD), there are a few prerequisites:

1.The NAS must be able to set individual volume to the camera. You cannot set an individual shared folder for the camera, and set as the storage path as the NetHDD would not successfully initialize/formatted (it will revert back to uninitialized status). The NAS must have the ability to create multiple volumes. In short, you need to create a separate partition on the Net Disk for the camera.

2.Each camera should use an exclusive volume. Two cameras cannot share the same volume.

Sunba Illuminati YouTube RTMP Connection Issues [Warp-up]

The following troubleshooting is based on the assumption that all network-related devices are connected well and functioning properly, and the camera lens module is not defective.

a) YouTube stream would disconnect after a while.

We’ve also encountered another case that the YouTube stream is dropping off every 10s. This turns out to be an IP conflict. It is recommended to switch to another Static LAN IP address.

b) There is no “stream selection option” under the RTMP url configuration page.  

Please clear browser cache/browsing history, power cycle the unit and re-load the page.

c) Cannot connect to YouTube stream at all. 

Please try each of the following measures:

1. Check whether the P2P status is offline. Normally it should be “online”. If it shows offline, then this means the camera cannot communicate with the Internet. You will have to try setting the camera from static IP to DHCP to see if it resolves the issue. Or you could try setting the DNS of the camera to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

2. Set the DNS of the camera to

Google DNS:

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

Or use the router’s DNS as primary DNS, and use 8.8.8.8 as secondary DNS.

3. Try lowering the camera bitrate and FPS. Make sure the to use constant bitrate and the bitrate shall usually not exceed 4000 Kbps otherwise the upload bandwidth consumption will be extremely high, preventing the camera from communicating with YouTube server.

Disclaimer: If you have multiple cameras that you are attempting to stream at the same time under the same LAN network, it is critical to have sufficient upload bandwidth for your network otherwise the stream might stuck, drop frames or lose connections. 

Sunba IP Network Camera: Underpower Issue

Typical Symptoms 

A. Camera reboots repetitively during night time with the following cycle:

low light environment detected -> infrared on -> not enough power -> reboot -> low light environment detected -> infrared on -> not enough power -> reboot …… (cycling)

B. Camera panning by itself without gaining control over PTZ.

 

Why will this happen? 

A. PoE Camera

Wrong PoE+ Injector: The PoE injector/switch must be able to deliver at least 30W for an individual port! Must be 802.3at standard but NOT 802.3af, which is for bullet camera and can only deliver 15.4W.

Long Distance of Travel: PoE will also drop power along the Ethernet cable. If you are using a 300 ft long Ethernet cable, you may be at risk. Please try using the Ethernet cable less than 200 ft. The maximum travel distance also depends on the quality of the cable but generally it should not exceed 200 ft for the 30W power. If you increase the distance, the corresponding watts of the injector should increase as well to 48W or 60W.

 

B. Non-PoE Camera:

Long Distance of Travel with thin AWG power extension cord.

For over 50 ft of travel distance, please try using the AWG 18 standard or thicker (the smaller the AWG, the thicker the wire).

A quick test to perform is to plug the camera directly to the wall power (for power adapter) without any forms of extension.

Tips for optimizing the auto tracking performance

Before mounting the Illuminati camera outside, there are few installation tips to consider to optimize the tracking performance.

The accuracy rate of auto tracking is great involved with installation location, ambient light (such as backlight) and so on. In order to ensure the better effect, Sunba proposes some installation and setup suggestions as follows:

1.Ratio of detection object size to image size

To recognize small moving objects, you will need to turn up the tracking sensitivity. However, this would usually result in false trigger of other equivalently smaller moving objects.

We recommend adjusting the zoom level of the camera to ensure the moving object is at least 180 x 180 pixel for a 2MP 1080p camera.

2.Light (no backlight)

With backlight, it is extremely difficult to recognize moving object from the overall scene because of the overall shaded videos.

3. Draw virtual lines/polygons only on static background

It is recommended not to draw virtual lines/polygons on dynamic objects such as trees/shrubs which will move along with strong wind and thus might trigger false alarms.

What is port forwarding?

Configuring port forwarding for your IP camera enables you to access your locally connected camera on the secure side of the router (via LAN) anywhere with internet at a different location (VIA WAN) through PC/Mac or Smartphone. It basically just forwards all traffic of your private camera to a public network.

Port forwarding must be supported by your router, and configured in your router’s interface. Therefore, for specific steps of port forwarding, please refer to the manual of your router or contact the manufacturer of your router for help (user interface extremely router specific). There are many different resources on YouTube that we find helpful. And you may also explore this webpage where it has the port forward interfaces for most routers: http://portforward.com/

Though different routers have different ways of setting up the port forwarding, generally you need to 1) log in the config page of the router and 2) find the port forwarding option within the config page 3) add and configure the camera’s relevant ports to be forwarded.

The picture below has forwarded the http, ONVIF, media and rtsp ports of the camera but in reality only http and media (tcp) are required ports.

To port forward most Sunba cameras, you’ll at least need to know:

• The camera’s local IP address;
• HTTP Port of the camera;
• TCP Port of the camera (also called media port).

Note: To access your IP camera in certain software or mobile app (such as iVMS or IP Cam Viewer), RTSP port may need to be forwarded as well.

After port forwarding, you will get a dynamic WAN IP of the camera where you can use to access the camera remotely anywhere.

Use canyouseeme.org to check your WAN IP and whether the ports are forwarded successfully (or “open”).

Go to Internet Explorer and type in WAN IP: HTTP port as the address to remotely log in the camera for a quick test.

Finally, please remember that the WAN IP changes constantly (normally after 24 hours) so it may be good for you to use free DDNS service such as NO-IP.com to have a fixed domain name, which can be memorized easily.

Other Dynamic DNS service provider:  DynDNS.org and TZO.com

Please first register an account at the DDNS service provider’s site. And you will get an unchanged name for your home WAN IP: such as myname.dyndns.org  

This fixed domain will be representing your home WAN IP!

Then you can login to your router again, go to DDNS option built-in your router and enter your DDNS service provider information to make sure your router recognizes them.

What is the RTSP stream URL for Sunba IP cameras?

The fundamental format of Sunba RTSP url is below:

For SUNBA Lite Series camera:

rtsp://IP:554/user={put your username here}&password={put your password here}&channel=1&stream=0.sdp?real_stream

For example with the default network setting (RTSP port 554), username and password, the camera’s RTPS url would be as follows：

For SUNBA Performance Series camera:

Corresponding to main stream/sub stream/three stream respectively;

Below is an example of an IP camera with H.264, an IP of 192.168.1.10 and the default username and password.

where 554 is the default RTSP port h264 is the encoding format, and can be replaced by h265 or mpeg4

What screws do I have to use for installing the camera?

Fundamental Standard: 

601-D20X/805-D20XB (wall bracket/Ceiling Mount) – M6

405 Series Wall Mount – M4

405 Series ceiling Mount – M6

We do not offer bolt with the camera as there are too many types available and the application is very critical and depends on where/how you would like to install the camera.

For example, many people are using the camera with their pole or corner mount that has smaller hole size as compared to the camera’s mount bracket. So you will probably need one size smaller.

Also, if you are installing the camera on wood board, you generally will choose self-tapping screws for safety concerns.

Similarly, if you are installing the camera on concrete, it is recommended to use concrete expansion bolt (or expansion anchor).

Brick walls are also different. These are the variables we are unable to control by the time of shipment.

If you need any help in selecting appropriate bolts for your specific application, we would be more than happy to offer our advice.

Why only half 1/2 of the IR LEDs are on? Is my camera defective?

The short answer is, the camera isn’t defective and what you see is normal. And below is why:

Sunba IR lights work in a same way as vehicle lights; you only need low beam to view nearby objects, when your camera isn’t zoomed in.

Thus, if your IR is in “AUTO” mode (this should be the default you are in), when you focus at near objects, the IR lights are half on. And when you “zoom in” and look at distant objects, the other half IR lights will be on as the high beam. Meanwhile, the low beam side will be OFF to avoid any extra light interference. In other words, you can change the focal length to adjust the IR lights.

Alternatively, you can manually control IR lights using the “presets call” method. For example, using “103+call” as a special presets code (just enter 103 in the preset box and hit either “enter” or “go to” or “call” depending on the software you use), you can turn on BOTH sides of the IR lights.

However, both sides of IR may not necessarily increase the visibility at night due to light interference. That’s why auto high beam and low beam are designed to be separate.

Another thing you can do is to change the photo sensitivity of the camera by going to the menu (95+CALL). This is a threshold that you can control. Does Sunba produce WiFi camera?

The answer is, not yet. And we currently don’t plant to develop a wireless outdoor camera due to concerns primarily over connectivity and user experiences. Chances remain that we will develop wireless models for indoor cameras as well as low-zoom in mini PTZ.

IP Cameras, compared to analog cameras, may have lags in image transmission as they are very dependent on the local network. In case of wireless, problems such as stability and connectivity may happen, especially for high zoom IP cameras. Wireless plans should work better for smaller and fixed lens cameras.

PoE is usually considered a great alternative for wireless cameras because for wireless cameras, you still have to run a power cable  (one cable solution). For PoE cameras, it is the same one cable solution but instead of the power cable, you need to use ethernet cable.

If there isn’t any forms of running a network cable, you can consider using wireless bridge to connect the camera.
In short, as you said, you can use a client wireless AP to connect to your root wireless AP:

The recorded files of illuminati is in MP2 that you can playback by using iFollow/Guarding Vision program. To convert it into the universal MP4 format, please download the FileConverter below:

How to get Synology NAS to record Sunba Illuminati IP camera?

There are two methods:

1.Using Synology’s built-in surveillance station.

Note in this way, you could have Synology record all-day, by schedule, or by motion detection.

With motion detection, you can have Synology to record using the camera’s own algorithm or using Synology’s algorithm.

Below is the fundamental setup:

Make sure the camera is set to H.264 and the username and password you entered is the camera’s ONVIF username/password, which is set at Network-Advanced Settings-Integration Protocol.

2. Recording as NetHDD

Please enable the NFS protocol for your NAS.

Then please go to Shared Folder to create a folder dedicated for recording and setup the name and location. It is NOT recommended to set the entire NAS as the recording destination.

Add encryption to the shared folder.

Confirm to apply the setting for the new shared folder.

Edit user permission for the shared folder.

Now we can go to the camera’s UI.

Under Configuration-Storage-Storage Management, please go to Net HDD and add the IP address of the NAS and the corresponding file path for the “shared folder” you set above. Make sure the mounting type is SMB/CIFS. Then enter the username/password for the NAS. Click “test”.

If the test succeeds, you will see the NAS drive under “HDD Management” as “uninitialized”. This means you will have to format the space.

We select and format the drive.

How to record to videos to TF card for Sunba Illuminati cameras?

1.Make sure the TF card is recognized by the camera and in “normal” status. If it shows error, please format to initialize the card.

2. If you want to enable motion detection recording (including line cross, intrusion and regular motion detection), please go to Events-Basic Events and enable motion detection.

PS: For motion detection, it is suggested to go to “EXPERT MODE” under the dropdown list next to Configuration to modify the parameter in order to define the minimum percentage of detection objects. This is to avoid false motion alarms on flies or tree movements. The percentage setting only applies for regular motion detection.

And then under Linkage Method, please select “trigger recording”.

Similarly, if you want to record intrusion tracking or line cross tracking, go to Smart Events, under Linkage Method, please select “trigger recording” as well.

3. Go to Storage Schedule, and select the recording type.

For regular motion recording, please select motion and click “advanced” to specify the recording length.

Again this will record all motion events including regular motion detection, and anything triggered under the current tracking mode (line cross/intrusion detection).

If you want to exclusively record just the line cross tracking or intrusion tracking, please select Events and double click the purple time bar to specify the type of Events that you want to record.

Don’t forget to click “Save” to take effect.

4. If you go to Playback section, select a date and click “Search” you will find a series of pink/red bar indicating recorded events.

How to reset password for your Sunba Illuminati camera?

Method A. Safety Questions

This is the easiest way and can be done in both SADP (choose security questions in “Mode”) or Web UI.

There are 3 pre-loaded answers (sunba) to the following 3 questions.

Method B. Safety Email

Before You Start:
1) You should have set up a reserved email account already.
2) You are on the same network as the camera.

Enter the camera web interface (you can use ANY browser even if it doesn’t support live view), and click “Forgot password”.

Select Email Verification as the Verification Mode, and export the QR code.

Save the QR code and send it to
pw_recovery@device-service.com as an attachment (PNG format).

Note:
1) You can use either your reserved email or any email to send this QR code. Only the reserved email will receive a valid verification code within 5 mins.

2) The verification code is only valid for 24 hours.

3) The QR code changes when you change the reserved email address.

Method C. XML Verification File

If you don’t have upfront security questions set, you can send security verification files to Sunba support team.

Go to SADP tool, and search the camera.

Note: If the SADP IPV4 search doesn’t identify online device, make sure the camera is connected to the main router (instead of any secondary router/switch) and is on the same network with your computer. You can also try directly connecting the camera to the computer with Ethernet.

Select the device and click “Forgot Password”.

Select “Export/Import Secret Key Mode” and click “Export” to select a path that exports the XML key request file.

An XML key file will be generated automatically in the selected path.

Please send the following information to support@sunba.net:
1)XML key request file
2)Order ID or proof of purchase

Sunba support team will return an “input key” within 24 hours.

Alternatively, you can self-generate the password via our server: http://122.152.220.16:8000/

If you cannot access the server, please contact support@sunba.net and we will reboot/re-activate the server.

Note:
1) You can power off the computer or exit the SADP tool waiting for the key from Sunba.
2) Please do NOT power off/reboot the camera. The camera needs to stay powered before getting the return verification key, otherwise the previously sent key request file will expire.
3) After you receive the verification key file from Sunba, please import it within 24 hours otherwise the file will expire.

If you want a quick remote session, Sunba Support (support@sunba.net) will generate an immediate password based on the QR code from the SADP tool.

How to resolve the “Device Rejected” error in SADP tool

If you are going to make changes over SADP tool, and you are seeing this error prompt, it usually occurs for the following reasons:

1.The password entered is incorrect.

2.The security level of SADP is not authorized to modify the camera’s network information.

Note ONVIF media user doesn’t have permission to control PTZ for the camera.

I am unable to live stream on YouTube with Sunba Illuminati

Only H.264 (video) and AAC (audio) is supported by YouTube (below is quoted from YouTube):

Incorrect stream format
Your encoder is set to something other than H.264 video and AAC audio. Adjust to H.264 video and AAC audio for the stream to be properly ingested.

Please change the container format for the video. The current container format isn’t right for this configuration.
The audio stream is encoded with an unsupported codec. Please set the audio codec for the stream to a supported codec (AAC, MP3).
Please set the video codec for the stream to H.264. The video is encoded with the wrong codec.
Please correct the video codec profile for the stream. The video is encoded with the wrong codec profile.

You can change the video and audio codec info in Configuration-Video/Audio.

2. Please make sure you input the correct RTMP url in the camera configuration page.

For example:

If the YouTube Stream key is 5zkh-ptxp-08t6-8ykc

And the YouTube Stream url is rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2

Please enter the following format under Configuration-Network-Advanced Settings-RTMP:

3. Frame rate/bitrate too high with limited bandwidth. Please note streaming to YouTube takes your upload bandwidth.

However, please be aware that globally download bandwidth is generally higher than upload bandwidth (e.g., 200Mbps download vs 10Mbps upload). So it is essential that you know the upload bandwidth of your network package before determining the quality of streaming.

For HD level live streaming, at least 5Mbps is required and you should leave some bandwidth for less competitive upload events.

Therefore, if your stream lags a lot or if the stream fails to connect despite 1&2, you should try lowering the bitrate and frame per second.

Internet Explorer Snapshot/Video Record Failed

Please add the camera’s IP or domain to the trusted sites of your internet explorer browser as follows and try restarting the browser.

Do NOT check the “require server verification (https:)” option.

Is there a joystick available for my IP cameras?

The answer is yes but we would not recommend that.

The reason is because IP cameras can already be remotely controlled via Smartphone anywhere with internet so it is generally very redundant to have a joystick (3D keyboard).

However, if you really want to have a joystick to control your IP camera, you can google “ONVIF joystick” on amazon.com. All of our IP cameras are ONVIF compliant.

We have customers who have used PTZOptics IP ONVIF keyboard and the PTZ function does work. The preset function, however, only works for the performance and smart series.

Is there an additional dome cover for the camera?

Please note if the camera is infrared, then it is unable to put a plastic cover on it because it will interfere with the infrared lights coming through.

You will need to use infrared transmissible materials to make such a cover. However, that will result in additional expenses.
That’s why infrared cameras are usually not covered.

If you put cheap plastic cover around your infrared camera, then at night it will generate blurry images.

However, if you are not interested in having the infrared feature, you may be able to put a plastic cover around the camera.

Our 502S and 205 series are infrared-free and thus has an external plastic cover.

Live View Failed Issue on Chrome (PC)

This is for model Illuminati only. Please follow the steps below to fix the issue:

2. While live viewing via Chrome, please make sure no “screen recording software” type software is running, which will cause a conflict with Chrome live viewing.

3. Make sure the camera is in TCP mode for Live View Parameters:

My auto tracking camera doesn’t track when ONVIF is enabled

This is usually because the NVR that the camera was connected to is sending other preset commands to the camera.

You will see a list of users for the camera under Configuration-System-User Management if you have the camera added to more than 1 client.

The “user operation time” is the last time the NVR sends the commands.

Note for ONVIF, there is a process of preset matching between the camera and NVR (you will see that in the log if you are familiar with Blue Iris).

Some NVR will override or interrupt the presets set in the camera, so if you encounter this, set the ONVIF user as media and only use the NVR for recording purpose.
