Here we will guide you to reset the password of your PoE NVR by using the super password in the following steps.

Note: To get the Super Password application package, you can download it from the link below: https://s3.amazonaws.com/reolink-storage/website/download/SuperPassword.exe. If you fail to download it, you can contact support.

Step 1: Connect the NVR to a monitor by HDMI cable. (If there is no display, please connect it to a VGA monitor and change the pixel to 1920*1080.)

Step 2: Login in the NVR and click Forgot Password button.

Then you will get this page:

Step 3: Open Super Password application installed on the computer, then input the random code.

Step 4: Click Create Super Password to create a super password.

Step 5: Go back to the System Login interface on the monitor of NVR. Input the generated super password, then click the OK button.

Note: When you finished the steps above, the password of your NVR will be successfully reset and the old password will be removed.

Step 6: Create a new password for logging in.

Step 7: Start to set up configurations on the Setup Wizard interface.

Step 8: Click Finish button when you set up all the configurations.

Done! You have successfully reset the password of your NVR. Now you can make login with the new password.

How to Reset Reolink NVR Recorder’s Password

If you forgot your NVR password, you may refer to the following two methods to reset your password.

Method 1. Reset the Password by Pressing the Reset Button

Step 1. Reboot your device and make sure you can see the live-view on the monitor screen.

Note: Please stay on live view page through the whole process. Please make sure the nvr system on live view page instead of the logging page while pressing the button
Press the usb mouse and make sure all icons hidden and nvr in live view on the monitor.

Step 2. Remove the outer casing of the NVR using the screwdriver.

Step 3. Press the Reset button for 10 seconds until you hear the buzzing “bee”.

Step 4. After the Setup Wizard pops out, create a new password and follow the Setup Wizard to complete the setup.

1. Download and install a software SADPTool on your Windows computer. Here is the download link: For

2. Connect your computer to one of the POE ports (i.e. the camera port) on your NVR.

3. Run the software SADPTool and it will detect the camera‘s IP.

4. Select the camera‘s IP and click forget password at the right bottom of the software.

5. Click “Export” and select the path to export an XML file. Please export the file of each of your nonworking cameras.

7. Send us the XML file and we will give you another key file to continue the password reset.

NOTICE:
1. Please do NOT turn off your NVR and the SADP software after you exported the files. Otherwise, the exported file will be invalid immediately.
2. Please use the key file from us as soon as possible because it’s only valid for 24 hours.

8. Select “Import” and choose the file we sent to you.
Input your NVR’s password as the new password and confirm the password of the camera. Click “Confirm” to finish reset.

NOTICE:
Please follow the matching guide in our email to import the XML file to the cameras accordingly.
(For example, we will say “xxxxxx.xml” for “xxxxxx.xml”)

After resetting the cameras successfully, please turn off your NVR, wait for about 10 seconds, then turn on the NVR again.

For this system, there will be some optional way to reset the password, please kindly find which way is suitable for you.

Here are the methods to reset the password.

1. Please contact technical support to get the general super password according to the system date displayed on your monitor.

2. Can you see a “?” on the login page,? If yes, please refer to this link to find the key number and send it to technical support, and then please don’t turn off your DVR.

3. Can you see a small QR code after you input the wrong password 5 times? If yes, please click it and make it enlarge, and then please send the full and clear picture of this QR code to the technical support. 4. If the above method all not suitable for your case, please kindly note that can you see some prompt message on your login page, such as
“System maintenance, please contact the installer, SN: XXXXXXXX“. If it is in this case, please kindly send us a clear picture of this prompt message window, and then please inform us of the system date displayed on your monitor. After we get your pictures, we will inform you how to do it for the next step.

XMeye – How to Change the System’s Password?

The system’s default password is blank(nothing). We suggest you change the system‘s default password when you hook up the system for the first time to protect your privacy. Below are instructions on how to change the password.

Here are the steps:

1. Use the system’s user name admin and default password blank to log in system.

2. Right click mouse and select the Main Menu

3. Go to advanced

4. Go to Account

4. select admin and click Modify Pwd

5. Input the new password and confirm it. Since the old password is the default password which is blank, leave the old password box blank.

Click OK to save.

XMeye – How to Use Security Questions to Reset Your System’s Password?

Steps:

1. Please go to this login interface and tick the ‘?’ option.

2. You will see these are two Security Questions like the picture below shows. And please input the Answers and then tick OK.

3. Then the system will automatically pop up this interface like the picture below shows. You can input the new password that you want to set up.

Part 1 – Call our Technical Support

Step 1. Locate and retrieve your recorder’s Device ID. In most cases, the Device ID is printed on a label on the top or side panel of the recorder along with the QR Code (see image below) NOTE: The Device ID is NOT the Serial Number.

TIP: There are three ways of retrieving your recorder’s Device ID or QR Code:

1. As mentioned above, you can locate the Device ID on a label on the top or side panel of the recorder.
2. You can also see Device ID by going to your recorder’s app (i.e., go to Settings > Device Info).
3. Finally, using a monitor and a mouse, you can retrieve the Device ID by accessing the Info Page of your recorder (i.e., right-click on mouse, then click Info (see image below).

Step 2. Once you have the Device ID at hand, call our Technical Support at 1-888-425-6739 and ask for a temporary password so you can access your recorder and reset the password.

Part 2 – Log in to your recorder using the temporary password

NOTE: For this procedure, you must (1) connect a monitor to your recorder using an HDMI cable, and (2) connect a mouse to one of the USB ports of your recorder.

Step 1. Right-click on the mouse, then click Main Menu.

Step 2. Now, log in to your recorder to open the Main Menu (see image below). You will need to provide the following credentials:

• Username: admin (default)
• Password: Use the temporary password provided to you by the Technical Support

Click OK to proceed.

Step 3. On the Main Menu, click Settings (see arrow on the image below) > System > Account > User.

Step 4. In the User Settings, click Modify.

Step 5. Then, configure the following settings:

• User: admin (default)
• Modify Password: Check the box
• Old Password: Enter the temporary password provided to you by the Technical Support
• New Password: Enter your new password
• Confirm Password: Re-enter your new password

At the bottom of the screen, click OK to save your changes.

NOTE: Now, make sure to keep your new password in a safe place for future use.

Congratulations! You have successfully reset your password.

When you get the temporary account, you should use this account to connect the camera and then change the password for user: admin or you can also create a new user. Then use the account you just modified to connect the camera. Here is the instruction on how to change password.

Connect the camera in PC client, right click on the live video, click “Remote setting”, and the dialog box appears. Click “System”.

Click “User Setting” tab, select user “admin” and click “Modify”

Input new password twice to confirm, click OK, then the password has been changed. You can also click “Add Account” to create a new account.

If you connect the camera on a NVR system, you should input the temporary account to connect the camera first. Right-click menu—IP camera—double-click the added camera you want to change pwd. And input temporary account, the camera can be connected now.

then right click on the camera live video–remote setup– General–User,  change the password for user: admin or you can also create a new user.

Last but not least, use the account you just modified to connect the camera.

FOR NVR/DVR

When you get the temparory account, login the NVR/DVR system with this account. And right-click menu—system setup—General—User, select the user and change the password, or create a new user.

Go back to main menu—quit – log out. Then login with the account you have changed the password.

In this guide, we will show how to reset the password for generic H.264 DVRs, H.264 Network DVRs, or even NVRs. There are a few methods for resetting an H.264 DVR, follow them one by one until you get your problem solved. If not, drop a comment and we’ll try to help you out.

How to Reset Password for H.264 DVR

First of all, let’s clarify what H.264 Network DVRs are. These H.264 DVRs are a generic type of video recorders manufactured by thousands of manufacturers all over the world and are marketed in many brand names (usually when the DVR starts up it will show up there the H.264 logo).

Since there are thousands of DVR brands on the market and the way to reset the password can vary from one model to another.

The first step of doing a password reset on an H.264 DVR is to consult the equipment’s manual or to contact the DVR’s a dealer/reseller, most of the resellers (TVT, Dahua, Lorex, Swan, FLIR, Samsung, Panasonic, Axis, Uniview, Foscam, Zmodo) support their products.

However, sometimes you have an H.264 DVR with an unknown brand and there’s no manual available or no technical support team. If you have lost the password for your non-branded / generic H.264 DVR, you could try the password reset methods shown in this guide.

Below are listed the techniques and the procedures we will deploy to reset the password for H.264 DVR. As you can see, there are four basic password procedures that work on most H.264 DVRs.

1. Try to use the DVR factory default password
2. Use H.264 DVR master password generator
3. Remove the battery to reset the password
4. Use a jumper to reset the passwords
5. Contact the manufacturer

1. Try to use DVR factory default password

Trying to use the DVR’s default password is the first thing for an H.264 DVR reset password recovery procedure. It happens a lot that the original DVR’s password has never been changed. Check the DVR manufacturer’s manual or website for the factory/default password.

Take a look at the table below with the DVR default password for different manufacturers. Perhaps your DVR is listed there (the empty space on the password means you need to leave the password box empty). Also, you can find more default passwords on this link.

2. H.264 DVR Master Password Generator

Many CCTV manufacturers provide master password generators to allow administrators access to their CCTV products. Usually, they use the current date of the security system in order to generate a super password. Others may use the serial number of the equipment.

A lot of the recorders on the market are generic DVRs manufactured in China and in many cases re-branded by third-party companies. Y

You can tell by the user interface which is exactly the same across many brands such as HD iDVR, Everfocus, Everest, Sansco, Luxvision 5716, 6008T-EL, HA-1648, CP-Plus, Citrox, BB-4CH, Yoko, TVT, Super Live Pro DVRs,  Kare, XVIM, and other generic brands simply named “H.264 network”, “H.264 DVR”, etc.

If your DVR has a login screen similar to the one shown below, then most likely it’s an H.264 generic DVR. Keep in mind that the user’s interface color scheme may have been further modified by the re-branding company.

You need to find out what’s the date on your security system DVR. Run the machine and simply check the timestamp on the screen. The date is used by the password generators to create a unique super password. So, take a look at the monitor and note the timestamp (as shown below).

Note: DVR master password generators will work only with specific DVR models.

HiSilicon DVR password generator

If your DVR runs on a chip manufactured by Hisilicon, then you can check the Hisilicon password generator to get a working password for your recorder. This generator works with these models: Hi3511, Hi3512, Hi3515, Hi3520, Hi3531, Hi3532, Hi3521, Hi3520A, Hi3535, Hi3520D, Hi3530A, Hi3535A.

On the internet, you can find 3 versions of the Hisilicon H.264 DVR password generator that work with the models mentioned above. Try all of them one by one until you’re able to reset the password. Below are the links to download the DVR password generators.

How to use the HiSilicon H.264 DVR password generator?

The image below shows an example of how to use this password generator software. Enter the year, month, and day (format YYYYMMDD) that you see on your DVR’s timestamp. Let’s say the date on your screen is 02/17/2020 you have to type: 20200117.

Below is an example of the password generated by the software that should be entered into the DVR, it is unique and valid only for that date (and day).

As we mentioned, this type of password generator app works with DVR models that use a chipset manufactured by Hisilicon (even though the brand name of the DVR may be different). It’s worth giving it a shot.

Dahua DVR password generator

Dahua is a worldwide manufacturer and in many cases, they sell their equipment under other local brands. Download and test it (refer to this article “Dahua Daily Password Generator” for more details). Click here to download the Dahua DVR password generator.

How to use the Dahua DVR password generator

Below is an example of using the Dahua password generator, type the year, month, and day (format YYYYMMDD) you see on the DVR’s timestamp.

H.264 DVR password generator

In many cases, the DVR has an unknown brand. This is a common thing since many Chinese manufacturers sell their DVRs or cameras to third-party companies which they resell under local not-so-known brands or simply as H.264 DVR. In itself, H.264 is not really a brand but just the name of the compression algorithm. You can download the generic H.264 password generator at this link.

How to use the H.264 DVR password generator

The image below shows an example of using the H.264 password generator. You have to enter the date shown up on your DVR’s timestamp.

Excel DVR password generator

This Excel spreadsheet has a built-in formula that can be used to generate super passwords for the H.264 DVRs. It works the same way as the previous methods, you need to enter the date and the tool will generate a master password. Click here to download the Excel H.264 DVR password generator.

3. Remove the battery to reset the DVR

A few H.264 DVRs can be reset by another technique: removing the battery from the motherboard. By doing that, the clock of the system will be reset and the DVR will go back to factory defaults and you can log in by using the default username and password.

How long do you need to have the battery removed? It depends on the DVR’s model number. Usually, it takes 10 minutes for the card to be discharged. So, keep the battery out until the DVR’s internal clock has gone to default. Remove the battery from the DVR as illustrated below.

When the clock runs out of the battery, the timestamp on the recorder goes to 01/010/2000 and you either can try the default password or use the DVR password generator to create a new password based on this date.

Most likely the default username will be admin and password: empty, 12345, or 123456. For old Dahua DVRs, the password can be “000000”.

4. DVR reset using a jumper

In order to perform this kind of reset, you need to open up the cover of your DVR and find the reset pins on the motherboard.  The H.264 DVRs that have these pins are for example old Dahua DVRs, old TVT DVRs, Swann DVR models, etc.

An example is shown below can be reset by closing the two contacts (pins) for 3 minutes. Once you close the circuit (via the jumper), the H.264 DVR will automatically reboot and come back online without any password or just using the default one. Try to log in.

5. Contact the manufacturer

If you tried all the methods explained above but you still can’t reset the password, then as the last option you should contact the manufacturer or seller and ask for technical support. First, locate the model of the unit, google it and see who is the original seller or manufacturer.

Then, contact them via email or phone and provide the model number and serial code. Usually, they help their customers and you may get your problems solved. If you don’t have any receipt, claim that the system was passed to you by the previous owner. They may ask you for an ID which you should provide.

This type of battery is fixed to the board. Use tweezers with the tip on the top of the battery holder and the other end on the bottom, close the contact for about 1 to 2 minutes to reset the DVR.
