After Adding to exacqVision

exacqVision defaults to using the Hanwha default H.264 stream (profile 2) but can be changed to H.265. This changes exacqVision to utilize the default H.265 stream on the camera (profile3).

NOTE: It is not possible to set h.265 via exacqVision on a fisheye camera.
You need to log in to the camera interface and manually change the FISHEYE
profile to H.265.

To change the default stream to H.265:

1.Navigate to the exacqVision Camera Settings page and click the Recording tab.
In the Rate Control field, the default is Constant Quality which equates to Variable Bit Rate in Hanwha cameras.

The Quality slider default of 2 sets a low cap.
1 = minimum VBR cap for that stream
10 = maximum VBR cap for that stream
For 4MP+ resolution cameras it is beneficial to increase the quality to 3 or 4; otherwise, the video may be compressed too much thus decreasing quality.

2.If needed, select a stream to add from the Multistreaming dropdown menu and click Add Stream.

NOTE: With high-resolution cameras, it is best practice to create lower
resolution live viewing streams to save on decoding and bandwidth. These
streams can be added in exacqVision on the Camera Settings page.

3.Click the Motion tab to edit motion on the camera (although exacqVision does not have all the options available that are in the Hanwha cameras).

NOTE: It is possible to add motion, including windows, without adding\
multiple points to create unique shapes.

4.Click the Analytics tab to see several options for displaying and recording data.

5.If the camera is a fisheye, click the Digital PTZ/Fisheye tab to configure the proper dewarp code.
a. Select Immervision from the first dropdown menu.

b. Select the proper code from the second dropdown menu.

c. Select how the camera is mounted for proper dewarping from the third dropdown menu.

NOTE: Many of Hanwha’s fisheye cameras can use additional camera side dewarp
channels. These should be created first before the camera is added to
exacqVision, so they are identified and configurable inside of exacqVision.
These channels have no motion detection so they either need to record 24/7
or be used for live video only.

NOTE: The Video tab does not exactly match what is in the camera.

To search AI metadata:

1.From the exacqVision home page, click the Search () icon in the top left corner of the screen.

2.Expand the camera tree then select the camera and the analytic metadata associated with it.

3.Select the Search Range to search for then click Search.

4.Click the Paper () icon to view the raw metadata.

A pane to the right of the video will appear with the raw data of that time.

5.Check the Show Filters checkbox to filter data.

6.In the pane to the left of the video, check the checkboxes to filter.

7. Click Save then click the Search button again.

NOTE: Save filters can be selected from the dropdown menu at the top.

8.If certain overlays for the metadata need to be hidden, click the Green () icon and select which overlays should be hidden.

NOTE: You can find the IP address of the camera in the Wisenet Device
Manager results screen. Click Add and close to enroll the camera.

TIP: If you see a Bad logon error, move your mouse over the text and an Add button will appear.

Enter the username and password of the camera then click the Add button.

After a few moments the status should change to Added.

NOTE: Sometimes the status in Genetec sticks on Bad logon. To resolve this
issue, click Clear All at the bottom of Unit enrollment and add the camera
again. The camera has now been added to Genetec Security Center 5.9.

Configuring a Fisheye Camera

The following additional steps are required if the camera has a fisheye lens:

1.From the Video tab, select the newly added camera under Archiver then click Hardware and edit the Lens type.

2.Select your Camera position from the dropdown menu.

NOTE: Genetec may not automatically pick the correct lens type and
could fail to calibrate.

3.Select the correct Lens Type from the dropdown menu.

4.Click Ok and Apply at the bottom of the page to save changes.
The fisheye camera settings are now complete.

Viewing the Newly Added Camera

To view the newly added camera:

1.Open the Security Desk application from the Windows Start menu.

2.Log in and and select Monitoring.

3.Double-click the newly added camera to see live video.

4.Use the scroll wheel on the mouse or click the Viewing Mode icon to manipulate the image.

There are two advisable solutions to extend the WiFi just around your house’s outdoor perimeter within 100 meters (300 feet). A network extension to the remote location farther than 300 feet will need a point-to-point wireless bridge.

1. Near Site WiFi Extension to the Outdoor Wireless Security Cameras (up to 100 meters or 300 feet)

It’s hard for WiFi signals to penetrate wire-filled stucco walls or stone walls. To provide strong WiFi outside for the outdoor cameras, one WiFi extender installed outdoors would avoid the stifling impact of walls on WiFi signals. There are two kinds of products—Powerline WiFi extenders and outdoor WiFi access points—to provide WiFi outside the home.

1.1 Near Site Outdoor WiFi for Cameras: Powerline WiFi Extenders

If you install your outdoor wireless camera under your eaves or in the backyard, plugging in a powerline WiFi extender around is an excellent way to solve the outdoor WiFi issues. As the powerline adapters are rated as indoor devices, a covered patio or waterproof electric box is needed to stand the harsh outdoor environments.

TP-Link TL-WPAxx series powerline wireless adapter kit is the easiest solution, providing two powerline adapters. One adapter installed indoors relays the data from the network cable to the power line. The second adapter broadcasts the WiFi signal to your cameras. 1.2 Near Site Outdoor WiFi for Cameras: Outdoor WiFi Access Points

If your patio is not enclosed or the outdoor wireless cameras are installed further from your home, you may need an outdoor access point. TP-Link offers Omada EAP series omnidirectional outdoor access points for outdoor WiFi. They come with IP67 or IP65 waterproof and dustproof housing and a -30–70°C (-22–158°F) operating temperature range. They are designed to protect the outdoor access points against harsh outdoor conditions.

1.2.1 WiFi Outside for Relatively Small Areas

One or two outdoor WiFi access points are deployed to connect the outdoor wireless cameras in relatively small areas. With the included passive PoE adapter, connect the Omada outdoor access points with your existing router to simultaneously provide data and power using a single Ethernet cable.

1.2.2 WiFi Outside for Relatively Large Areas

Several outdoor WiFi access points are deployed to connect outdoor wireless cameras across relatively large areas. The PoE switches or passive PoE adapters connect the Omada access points with a single Ethernet cable. Omada Mesh technology can wirelessly connect to the outdoor access points without additional cable if some access points cannot link to LAN ports. With Mesh technology, the maximum distance of extending outdoor WiFi can be multiple hundreds of meters.

2. Remote Site Network Expansion (More than 100 m and up to 30 km)

Make sure it’s within 200 feet of the panel and there are as few obstructions (walls, furniture, etc.) to line of sight as possible. You can either set your camera on a flat surface or mount it to a wall. To mount the camera, use the included screws and/or drywall plugs to mount the magnetic base plate, then attach the camera to the magnetic base.

How to modify the IP address of the VIGI camera

You can use the VIGI Security Manager or VIGI NVR to modify the IP address of your VIGI camera.

Via: VIGI Security Manager

If the camera is not added, go to Settings > Device > Device List > Discovered Devices, select the device and click the Set Network.

How to avoid the overexposure of image

The overexposure of surveillance images can be roughly divided into over-exposure during the day and overexposure at night. The overexposure in the daytime is basically caused by the backlight of the scene, while the overexposure at night is caused by the over-intensity of the infrared reflected light of the object.

Overexposure in the daytime

The light reflected from the counter is relatively strong, making the counter very bright and unclear

The camera will overexpose in the presence of bright light directed or reflected into the lens. Overexposure will lead to unclear details. During installation, we need to consider scenarios and avoid direct light or strong reflections. If it is unavoidable, we need to adjust the image parameters to alleviate the overexposure.

Step 1: We take the overexposure area as the exposure target and do backlight compensation (BLC), so that the IPC takes the overexposure area as the target to reduce the overall light input. The overexposure area in the figure is near the center, and we set BLC area to be center.

Step 2: After we enable BLC, the IPC reduces the overall light input, so the surroundings will become darker. We can increase the brightness of the surroundings by wide dynamic range (WDR).

Step 3: We can fine-tune brightness and contrast to display the best image.

The following picture shows the adjusted result. (BLC area in center + WDR + brightness 60, contrast 40.) As you can see, the area of counter is clearer. You can further adjust the parameters according to your own image quality.

Overexposure at night

Overexposure due to being next to the wall is quite obvious, as shown below.

When the camera is installed next to the wall, if the angle is too biased towards the wall, the infrared light reflected back from the wall will be too strong, and the wall will be overexposed. If the wall is overexposed, the camera will reduce the shutter exposure time to maintain the overall average brightness of the screen, so that the other part of the screen will be too dark.

Step 1. Adjust angle to reduce the area of overexposed objects in the picture.

Without affecting the monitoring, make the wall area in the picture as small as possible. Firstly, the effective monitoring area can be increased; secondly, if the overexposure area of the wall is reduced, the exposure time of the camera will be increased, and the monitoring image will be clearer.

Step 2. Set BLC area to make dark areas brighter

You can increase the exposure time of the camera by setting the BLC area of the camera. Although the wall or reflective obstacles may be brighter, the effective monitoring area can be seen more clearly.

Step 3. Enable WDR to balance the brightness

Increase WDR can strengthen the details in the dark, and monitoring effect in night vision is better.

Note: Too high WDR will increase the noise in the night vision picture. WDR should be properly increased.

How to select suitable lens?

The larger the focal length of the lens, the smaller the angle of view, and the farther the monitoring distance. So the camera lens with low focal length is suitable for observing small areas where need a wide angle. If you want to observe the objects closer with a big distance, you’d better select the cameras with a lager focal length lens.

How to rotate the image of my VIGI camera

You can rotate the image via VIGI App, VIGI Security Manager or VIGI NVR. VIGI Security Manager and VIGI NVR has more mirror option than VIGI App.

Here we take VIGI C400HP-4 as an example.

Corridor mode allows you to rotate the camera’s lens and the video image 90 degrees so that it’s in a portrait, rather than a landscape format. As a result, you can use the camera to really focus on those areas of interest of within in your frame changing the image’s aspect ratio from 16:9 to 9:16 to suit narrow monitoring settings. Part 1: How do I activate the corridor mode function in my camera’s settings?

We suggest getting your camera set up on your network and activating corridor mode in its settings before you try to rotate and position the lens. This way, you can use the live video stream, in the correct aspect ratio, to point the lens in your optimum direction. Positioning the lens often involved a bit of trial and error to get the best result specific to your space.

Note – For the G2 AcuSense models, you will need to connect to the camera directly in a web browser and change the “VCA Resource” to Monitoring Mode by navigating to:​

Adjusting Hikvision IP camera for narrow scenes

Please note that this will disable most of the smart event options, leaving only Scene Change Detection available to use. ​

Locally (via a monitor connected to an NVR):

If your camera is connected to an NVR, then you can easily configure corridor mode in the setting through the NVR’s GUI menu. Just Navigate to:

Menu > Camera > Image

Pick your camera from the top drop-down box beside Camera and then select “Clockwise 270 degrees” in the Enable Image Rotation box

Then, just click Apply

Through iVMS-4200:

If you’re not using an NVR, or don’t have easy access to your NVR’s GUI, then an option is to use iVMS-4200 to set up corridor mode by accessing the camera directly.

To do this, first, you’ll need to navigate to:

Find your camera in the device list. If accessing a camera connected to an NVR, you’ll need to open your NVR within the Group section of the Device Management screen and then the particular camera within the NVR’s device list.

Click Configure (the small cog) on your camera.

If your camera isn’t connected to an NVR, then open Basic Settings, if it is then open Advanced Function.

In the popup window, open the Image tab in the sidebar. You should then see either a tick-box or drop-down that allows you to turn on Rotate, tick or select ON in the applicable box or drop-down and then Save. The camera view should now have been rotated.

In a web browser:

The other method commonly used to access cameras and NVRs is through a web browser. You will only be able to configure the image rotation settings for a remote camera. The image for cameras connected directly to an NVR cannot be rotated in this menu due to the restricted access to the camera’s settings.

To access your camera in a browser, simply input its IP address into the browser’s address bar and hit enter. You’ll be taken to a login screen, here you’ll need to fill out the username and password combination you created for the camera when you first set it up. If correct, you should be taken to a page displaying the camera’s live video stream.

The process of rotating the camera’s image is relatively similar to that in iVMS-4200, just go to:

Configuration > Image > Video Adjustment > Rotate > On

The setting should be automatically saved, you’ll see a popup in the bottom-right corner of your window confirming this. That’s it!

Part 2: How do I position and rotate my camera’s lens correctly?

Rotating the camera’s image through its settings will rotate the image 270 degrees. To rotate the final video stream to the desired 180 degrees, you will manually need to turn the camera’s lens 90 degrees in the opposite direction as compensation. The entire process allows the rotated image to properly fit a 9:16 portrait aspect ratio. You’ll need to follow the below steps in order to rotate the camera’s lens.

For Domes / Mini Domes:

Domes and mini domes are the fiddliest type of camera to move and rotate the lens on. You can do this with the camera either installed or taken down. You’ll need to take the outer casing off the dome first to allow you to move the lens inside. Then, loosen the locking screw located to the right of the lens rotate to allow you to move the lens and bracket. Now twist the lens bracket (the bit that can turn surrounding the lens, see the picture below) 90 degrees anti-clockwise, so that the gap in it is in the 3 o’clock position.

You should see the “90” marker in the middle of the gap once in this position. Now twist the lens (see the picture below) 90 degrees anti-clockwise, holding the lens bracket in place while doing this helps, so the “90” marker is at 12 o’clock and the “0” marker is in the 3 o’clock position. It may take a bit of wiggling and feel unnatural but the lens will move to this position, you won’t break anything!

Finally, rotate the lens bracket 90 degrees clockwise so that the gap is at 6 o’clock, and then move the lens so that is fits into this gap, so it looks like the picture below. This next stage takes a bit of trial and error on your part to get your desired camera view. You’ll need to fiddle around with the lens while looking at the camera’s live stream to ensure it is straight and something you’re happy with. Viewing your stream through iVMS-4200 or Hik-Connect is best as you can look at the image and remotely while fiddling with the lens position at the same time.

For Turrets:

Rotating the lens on a turret camera is a slightly more straightforward process. First, you’ll need to remove the trim ring (shown in the picture below) by twisting it anti-clockwise and lifting it off the base of the camera.

This should expose the locking screw, you’ll need to loosen this using a Phillips-head screwdriver enough for Turret’s ball to be rotated. You shouldn’t need to take the screw out entirely. All these parts are labeled in the picture below. The “UP” marker on the ball indicates the top of the camera. You’ll now need to rotate the ball 90 degrees anti-clockwise so that this marker moved from the 12 o’clock to 9 o’clock position. Now, tighten the locking screw back up and replace the trim ring to its original position. The lens should now be appropriately rotated.

For Bullets and Mini Bullets:

The camera models that allow for the easiest rotation of their lenses are bullets and mini bullets.

It is important to note that the sun shield on these cameras cannot be moved to be above the lens when rotated, which presents a drawback so using them for corridor mode. The sun shield will sit to the side of the rotating lens in this case so you’ll need to make sure that you shelter the camera somewhat (such as under the eaves of a roof) if setting a bullet or mini bullet for corridor mode.

Mini bullets have a locking nut (shown below) at the end of their base which will allow you to rotate the camera when loosened. Larger bullets will require you to loosen the locking screw, which is the screw furthest to the right of the base if looking at them (shown below).

Once you’ve loosened the locking screw/nut as appropriate, rotate the main body of the camera 90 degrees anti-clockwise, so that the sun shield is in the 9 o’clock position. This will rotate the lens. Once you’ve done this, tighten the screw or nut again to secure the camera in its newly rotated position.

Part 3: How do I change the layout of my camera streams to accommodate for corridor mode?

Once your camera is all set up in corridor mode, you’ll want to be able to adjust the way that you view the grouped cameras to avoid the camera’s live stream being reduced in size to fit the standardised landscape 16:9 frame. This is easily done by simply merging two of the landscape frames to make a portrait, 9:16 frame to which you can dedicate your camera. This custom view layout can be set up in an NVRs local GUI and in iVMS-4200. Please see the guides below for an explanation on how to customise your stream layout to accommodate corridor mode.

In iVMS-4200:

Click on the small icon made up of several small boxes at the bottom of your Main View screen in the program, this should bring up the window division page. Click Add to create a Custom Window Division.

In the Add Custom Window Division popup, set the name and dimensions of your new stream layout as desired.

Now, click and drag your mouse over the two frames you want to merge to select them both. Once they’ve both been highlighted by a surrounding red box, click Joint to merge them. Now click Save.

Once back in the Main View, click on the Window Division icon in the bottom right-hand corner again and select your new custom layout from the list. Your new stream layout should load ready for you to assign the individual cameras to.

Locally through your NVR’s GUI:

Please Note – This option is only available on NVRs that are running Version 4 firmware. There is not currently an option to customise your stream layout on K-Series recorders. If you’re running Version 3 firmware then your only option is to configure your layout as per above in iVMS-4200.

It’s also useful to be able to customise the stream layout as viewed directly from your NVR’s GUI as this is many people’s preferred method for observing and configuring their camera feeds.

To do this, firstly, you’ll need to navigate to:

In the Custom Layout Configuration popup, set the name and dimensions of your new stream layout as desired. Now, click and drag your mouse over the two frames you’re going to merge and click the Joint button in the top toolbar, followed by Save.

Once back in the Live View, click on the Split button in the bottom-right hand corner of your screen. Then, select your new custom layout from the Custom Layout list that appears to load your new stream layout. You can then add the camera streams to each frame as appropriate.

In terms of training models, FLEX AI currently supports the MP4 format or tagged WAVE Sync videos for training.

FLEX AI: How do I annotate objects?

Summary:

This article describes how to move through a training video and mark objects. The goal is to take a video clip and pause at several points in the video and annotate objects (draw boxes around) you are teaching FLEX AI to detect.

Step By Step Guide:

Annotating objects

1. Pause the video on any frame that contains the object of interest.

2. Draw a detection box around every instance of the object. There can be multiple instances of an object and each instance should have its own detection box.

3. Click the Tighten button (or the keyboard shortcut T) to resize the detection boxes.
This means you can save time by roughly drawing the boxes and then tightening.

There will be times that FLEX AI does not properly capture the true edges of the object, that’s why the application allows you to readjust the edges of the box. Step 3: Drag the edges/corners of a detection box to finely edit.

5. Click Save (or the keyboard shortcut S) to save the marked detection boxes.

6. Once you have drawn the necessary detection boxes, click the Train button. Your project will be unavailable during the training period which typically takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the number of annotations.

NOTE: Since training is done in the cloud, you can work on any number of other projects
while a project is training.

NOTE: The blue detection boxes also appear in the This Frame’s Detections area after you
save. It is recommended that a minimum of 50 detection boxes be defined before your

Step By Step Guide:

To improve the AI Object Detection model:

1.Click the Improve button (towards the top right of the video player) after you have reviewed the latest model.

2.Select a video to start.
FLEX AI will suggest the top 10 frames crucial for highlighting your object(s) to enhance your object detection model. Markers represent each frame the application is asking you to revisit.

3.Draw a detection box around every instance of the object.
Remember to save your detection boxes.

4.Click the Object Not Present button (towards the bottom right of the video player) if the object of interest is not in the frame.

5.Use the arrows or the orange dots to advance to different/suggested frames.

6.Complete all 10 suggested frames and repeat for all videos to be included in the next training.

7.Click the Add More button to manually look through the video and add detection boxes, if the suggested frames are not enough (ex: different angles and perspectives are needed in the training set).

8.Click Train when you are ready.
The current limit for a (1) year license is to have a maximum of (100) total trainings or improvements.

NOTE: All 10 suggested frames must be completed per video for them to be included
in the training. Detection boxes on any video where all 10 frames are not marked
will be discarded and not included.

FLEX AI: How do I review and download my FLEX AI model?

To review your uploaded videos:

1.Click the Ready to View button to select your trained AI model results video.

2.Adjust the confidence level slider (towards the top right of the video player) to view the identified objects that meet your specified minimum confidence level.

The following model has been trained only once, so there is no option to compare.

3.After training the AI model more than once, click the Single/Compare Player toggle to change your view from side-by-side video player to single video player.

Live View Settings

The Live View is the first screen you will see when your camera connects to the app. It includes the following features:

Camera’s image/screen is blurry.

Adjust your camera’s diopter to your eyesight. Before you begin, it is highly recommended that you adjust your camera’s diopter to your eyesight. Focusing your view will minimize eye strain and fatigue.

Camera’s Wi-Fi hotspot is not showing.

• Wait a moment for it to appear in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.

• When enabling your camera’s hotspot in your camera’s settings, try to press  a couple more times.

• Ensure you have allowed the app to use your location, otherwise it will not be able to detect your camera’s Wi-Fi. Navigate to your phone’s settings, then open the Thermal Connection app settings, and enable Location — While Using the App.

Camera is not connecting to the app.

The Wi-Fi password is case sensitive. Make sure you enter the serial number in the same letter format, whether that is uppercase or lowercase.

Camera has disconnected from the app.

Camera’s Live View is frozen in the app.

If the Live View is frozen perform a hard close of the app, then open it again.

Digital zoom is not working.

Digital zoom will not work while your camera’s menu is open. Press  to exit the menu.

Camera is not recording images and videos.

Recording images and/or videos will not work while the menu is open or when your camera is connected to a computer. Press  to exit the menu.

Camera’s screen is black.

Restart your camera. Press and hold  to turn your camera off, and then back on.

• Ensure you use the supplied micro-USB cable and that it is properly connected.

How does my thermal monocular camera work?

To improve the visibility of objects in complete darkness, haze, or tough conditions, your thermal monocular camera uses infrared sensors to detect heat given off by a person, animal, or other objects. It creates images of that radiation called thermograms, which display the relative temperatures of different objects with different shades or colors. In a thermogram, warm objects stand out in a contrast or often cooler background. It is widely used in outdoor scenarios for hunting, rescue, animal observation, and more.

Is my thermal monocular camera battery-operated or hard wired?

Your thermal monocular camera is battery-operated, however, to charge the battery you will need to connect the micro-USB cable into your camera’s USB port and the other end into a power source.

Does my thermal camera only work at night?

No. Although thermal imaging cameras are most commonly used for nighttime vision, they can also be useful in daylight. • Press  to confirm your setting.

• Connect the micro-USB cable into your camera’s USB port and the other end into an available USB port on your computer.

• The microSD card’s storage will open on your computer desktop. Copy the update program to the microSD card.

• Press and hold  and  at the same time for 3 seconds. A blue screen will indicate that an update is in progress.

After a few minutes the update will complete and you will see your camera’s live view image.

Can I mount my camera to a tripod?

How to start a live-streaming

What is the difference between live-streaming and 10-second Full HD video?

The live-streaming allows you to see what is happening live around your camera. It can last as long as you have live-streaming minutes in your account. It is great when you receive a notification, and you want to check if there are still some movements.

Your camera stores a 10-second Full HD video on the servers at every detection. You can request the video to understand better what happened during the detection. Simply click on a photo and press the button “Request Full HD video”.

What is the impact on the battery life?

The more you use those features, the more it takes a toll on the battery life.

This is especially true if the V300 doesn’t get a steady and strong signal. Just like your cell phone, the camera will work harder to connect to the cellular tower and communicate information.
