Deploying outdoor WiFi is always necessary for deploying outdoor wireless security cameras. There are many options for extending WiFi. The optimal choice depends on the places and environments in that outdoor wireless cameras are installed.

There are two advisable solutions to extend the WiFi just around your house’s outdoor perimeter within 100 meters (300 feet). A network extension to the remote location farther than 300 feet will need a point-to-point wireless bridge.

1. Near Site WiFi Extension to the Outdoor Wireless Security Cameras (up to 100 meters or 300 feet)

It’s hard for WiFi signals to penetrate wire-filled stucco walls or stone walls. To provide strong WiFi outside for the outdoor cameras, one WiFi extender installed outdoors would avoid the stifling impact of walls on WiFi signals. There are two kinds of products—Powerline WiFi extenders and outdoor WiFi access points—to provide WiFi outside the home.

1.1 Near Site Outdoor WiFi for Cameras: Powerline WiFi Extenders

If you install your outdoor wireless camera under your eaves or in the backyard, plugging in a powerline WiFi extender around is an excellent way to solve the outdoor WiFi issues. As the powerline adapters are rated as indoor devices, a covered patio or waterproof electric box is needed to stand the harsh outdoor environments.

If your patio is not enclosed or the outdoor wireless cameras are installed further from your home, you may need an outdoor access point. TP-Link offers Omada EAP series omnidirectional outdoor access points for outdoor WiFi. They come with IP67 or IP65 waterproof and dustproof housing and a -30–70°C (-22–158°F) operating temperature range. They are designed to protect the outdoor access points against harsh outdoor conditions.

1.2.1 WiFi Outside for Relatively Small Areas

One or two outdoor WiFi access points are deployed to connect the outdoor wireless cameras in relatively small areas. With the included passive PoE adapter, connect the Omada outdoor access points with your existing router to simultaneously provide data and power using a single Ethernet cable.

1.2.2 WiFi Outside for Relatively Large Areas

Several outdoor WiFi access points are deployed to connect outdoor wireless cameras across relatively large areas. The PoE switches or passive PoE adapters connect the Omada access points with a single Ethernet cable. Omada Mesh technology can wirelessly connect to the outdoor access points without additional cable if some access points cannot link to LAN ports. With Mesh technology, the maximum distance of extending outdoor WiFi can be multiple hundreds of meters.

2. Remote Site Network Expansion (More than 100 m and up to 30 km)

How to reset TVI DVR/ POE NVR / Wireless NVR (ZSWNVK-H) System when you forgot the password?

If your CCTV DVR or NVR don’t have a built-in WiFi support, then you have to run internet cable (CAT 5 or CAT 6 Ethernet cable) to connect your DVR or NVR to the internet via the router.

• Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet input on the back of the DVR.
• Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable into a device providing an active internet connection, such as a router or modem.
• Test your internet connection to confirm that it is active by going to the Network > Network screen.

1) Right click mouse—go to Main Menu > Setup > Network.

2) On the Network tab, ensure the “Obtain an IP Address Automatically” option is enabled, and that there is no information in the PPPoE fields.

3) Once you’ve ensured there is no information in the PPPoE field and that the “Obtain and IP Address Automatically” option is selected, select the “Test” option.

If “OK” is displayed, the local area network is connected successfully.

If the DVR is not able to connect to the internet, you will get a message that states “Cannot Connect to Network”.

NOTE:

In order for other devices to connect to the DVR through the router, the DHCP setting must be enabled from the router’s settings page.

If you still cannot connect to the network, please ensure that you don’t have a firewall active on your network that may be limiting the connection.

You may need to open ports 80, 5000, and 5001 on your router, if they’re currently being blocked by te firewall. This typically only happens on commercial internet accounts, as they deal with sensitive transactions, but occasionally a firewall on a residential line will also block these ports.

If you’re unsure how to open ports on your router, you will need to speak with the router manufacturer.

1) What’s DHCP?

DHCP is a type of internet networking approach. It stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. It means that a router assigns IP addresses to each of the devices on the network, allowing them to communicate with other devices in or outside the network.

In context of our systems, the setting related to DHCP is called DHCP server status. This setting enables your router to obtain the static IP address on the DVR and broadcast that IP to the app so it can locate your DVR. This setting needs to be enabled on a router for the apps to be able to connect to the DVR systems.

2) For example: How to set up a linksys E5350 Router?

Once you’ve logged into the router settings, you’ll want to select “configuration” at the top, and then “Connection > Local Network” in the menu on the left. You should see this page:

You’ll want to ensure the checkbox beside “DHCP server” is checked off, and set the start IP address to 100 as shown in the image. Leaving the other settings here as they default should be fine. Once this is done, select “save.” Before proceeding with the next steps, try using the app while not connected to local WiFi. If you can see the live feeds, you don’t need to complete the steps below.

If you can’t, you’ll need to open the ports in the firewall. On the left menu, select “Security”, and then “Single Port forwarding” as shown in this image:

The number you want to enter in the “To IP Address” field is the last three digits of the DVR’s static IP, which you can find on the Network page of the DVR. (Main Menu > Setup > Network)

How to Mount Your VIGI Pan & Tilt Camera to a Wall or Pole

This article will show you how to mount your camera to the wall, and how to remove your camera from the camera base.

How to Mount Your Camera

1. Mark Position

Place the mounting template where you want the camera. For wall mounting, drill four holes through four circles on your mounting template.

2. Mount Base or Pole Mounting

Affix the camera base using the screws.

For wall mounting, insert four anchors into the holes and use the self-tapping screws to affix the camera base over the anchors.
There are two ways to install your cameras by the mount base depending on your situation.

How to Uninstall Your Camera

If you mounted it on the wall

Remove the screws from the anchor. Then you can take your camera off the wall.

How to use VIGI cameras with other NVR brands or NAS

The VIGI cameras work with VIGI NVR as well as other NVR brands or NAS for easier batch access and management. It is recommended to use the VIGI cameras with the VIGI NVR. For other NVR brands, make sure they support ONVIF and RTSP protocols. Here we will show you how to use VIGI cameras with other NVR brands.

Step 1: Power on your cameras and connect them to the same network as your NVR.

Step 2: Activate the cameras using the VIGI Security Manager or VIGI App.

1. Download the VIGI Security Manager on your windows computer at https://www.tp-link.com/download-center/

2. Install the VIGI Security Manager and open it.

3. Go to Settings > Discovered Devices. Cameras on the same network as your computer can be automatically discovered.

4. Click + Add to activate your discovered cameras by setting passwords.

5. Follow the instructions to add your cameras.

Step 3: Refer to the NVR’s User Manual to add cameras.

We will show you some basic parameters that it may require to connect the VIGI camera to your NVR.

1. The IP address of the camera.

Open VIGI Security Manger and go to Settings > Device > Device List > My Devices > Settings icon of the camera > Network Settings > Connection.

For some NVRs, you’ll need to modify the IP address of the VIGI camera to the same network segment as the NVR for successful adding.

2. The ports for standard ONVIF and RTSP protocols.

Please select Onvif protocols to add VIGI cameras.

3. The username/password of the camera.

Username: admin

What should I do if VIGI camera is not found?

This article is to solve the problem that VIGI camera is not found. Please check the steps below:

Step 1. Confirm that the camera is powered up.

The camera should be powered up via 12V DC adapter or PoE (802.3af/at). The IR LED will turn on for 20 seconds once the camera is powered on.

Step 2. Confirm that the camera is connected to your network properly.

The camera should be connected to network devices via Ethernet cable.

Step 3. Make sure your device is on the same network as the camera.

Step 4. Reboot your network devices including router and refresh to discover your cameras again.

Step 5. Try other methods to discover devices.

You can try to discover devices via VIGI Security Manager, VIGI NVR or VIGI App.

How to Verify Fake Micro SD Cards When Using with VIGI Cameras

Note:

A security camera that works with a standalone microSD card is primarily designed to store motion-activated recordings or short video clips of movements with local storage, which offers a cost-effective alternative to the subscription-based cloud storage. However, users may run into issues like the camera is unable to overwrite recordings, the SD card becomes full and stops recording or the SD card cannot be formatted by the camera App, etc. These kinds of problems might be caused by the fake SD card.

Micro SD Card and fake SD Card

An SD Card is a small electronic storage medium used by a plethora of storage devices including smartphones, games devices, camcorders, and cameras. Most of the smartphones and security cameras are using the microSD card.

The TP-Link camera supports a microSD card with up to 512GB capacity. If the remaining space of an SD card is less than 500MB or 5% of the total capacity before the first insertion of the camera, it would be impossible to record. There are different speed specifications for microSD cards and it is recommended to use a card with Class 10 or UHS 1 speed rating, which requires a minimum writing speed of 10MB/s.

The most common fake microSD card is the fake capacity expanded card, which uses illegal means and tools to make the cards with a small capacity appear larger. For example, a 32GB card is displayed as 128GB on your computer or other devices. This kind of card is usually having a lower price than the official quality goods. Since the capacity is Manual deceived by the illegal means and tools so that the space beyond the original capacity cannot be used normally.

If the stored file exceeds the actual capacity, the file will be unavailable. Our camera recognizes the microSD card and will format it in Fat32 format and creates index files to save your video data. If your SD card is an expanded card, it will not be formatted successfully and will not work properly on our camera.

We do not support the card due to the particularity of the monitoring camera; we need to ensure that the SD card can work stably for a long time. And since camera data is relatively important, data loss or failure to write data can have a significant impact.

Note: For VIGI cameras, it is required to format the SD card on the VIGI app for local recording.

When it comes to counterfeit memory cards, you will find some different types of them like listed below:

1. Reduced Read / Write Speed: You buy an SD card that shows something like “maximum 95 MB/s read and 90 MB/s write speed” and a “V30” label that is supposed to guarantee a minimum writing speed of 30 MB/s. But when copying a file using a fast SD card reader, you might not even get more than 5-10 MB/s.

2. Reduced Capacity: The SD card might report a large capacity when inserted in your computer, camera, or storage device, while it contains only a very small part of the overall capacity. How to configure VIGI camera’s exposure parameters

Exposure refers to the amount of light entering the camera. Overexposure in surveillance images results in a too bright image, while underexposure leads to a dark image that lacks clarity.

Overexposure can generally be divided into overexposure during the day and overexposure at night. Overexposure during the day is mainly caused by backlighting in the scene, while overexposure at night is caused by excessive infrared reflection from objects.

Underexposure, on the other hand, is primarily due to low ambient brightness, resulting in insufficient light entering the camera.

To address the above issues, we can make adjustments through Exposure setting, Prevent Overexposure setting, as well as BLC (Backlight Compensation) and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) settings to obtain more suitable image effects for specific scenes.

Exposure settings include exposure gain and shutter speed. Higher gain and slower shutter speed allow more light to enter the camera within the same time frame, resulting in a brighter image, and vice versa for a darker image.

Prevent overexposure, the brightness of the infrared illuminator can be adjusted to avoid excessive infrared reflection at night.

In addition, there are WDR settings and BLC settings. WDR processes the dark and bright areas of the image to make the dark areas brighter and the bright areas darker, thus achieving better image quality in environments with high contrast between highlights and shadows. BLC targets specific backlight areas and adjusts the light entering the camera accordingly to achieve the desired image effect.

3.5 inch internal hard drive to record. This system works with most

1. Install a Hard Disk (if your system has preinstalled Hard Disk,

Unplug your DVR from power, unscrew and remove the top cover.
Connect the SATA power and data cables from the DVR to the
corresponding ports on your Hard Disk (as shown).

Place the Hard Disk into the DVR. Any cable should cross up over the

Holding the Hard Disk and the DVR, gently turn it over and line up the
holes on the Hard Disk with the holes on the

Sync Mode: Enable sync mode, multiple channels playback at the same

Note: You can add one Wi-Fi camera or accessory to one Fusion Wi-Fi channel. The number of Fusion Wi-Fi channels varies per Fusion recorder. For full technical specifications, refer to the Product Specifications on your recorder’s product support page. Visit help.lorextechnology.com and search your Fusion recorder’s model number.

Turn off duplicate notifications

After completing the Fusion setup, your Wi-Fi camera or accessory is connected to the Lorex App twice – once as a single device and then a second time as a device connected to your recorder. To avoid receiving duplicate notifications from the same camera or accessory, you will need to Turn off Alerts for your Wi-Fi device connected to your recorder.

Adjust the recording settings for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory

After Fusion setup, your Lorex Fusion Wi-Fi camera’s recording settings will automatically adjust to Continuous, recording 24/7 directly to your recorder’s hard disk drive.

To adjust the recording settings (new local UI):

To adjust the recording settings using the previous local UI, navigate to Main Menu > CAMERA > Recording > Recording and follow the same steps as above.

Set the recording schedule for your Fusion Wi-Fi camera or accessory

You can set a custom recording schedule according to your needs. For example, you can set the system to record continuously during business hours and record on motion detection only outside of business hours.

• Click-and-drag on each day to customize the recording schedule. The schedule is set up as a grid, with each block representing two hours.

• Click  beside 2 or more days to link schedules (). This allows you to quickly change multiple schedules at once.

• To make fine adjustments to a schedule, click . This will allow you to set exact start and end times for a schedule.

• To disable all recording of the selected type on the selected day, click .

To set the recording schedule using the previous local UI, navigate to Main Menu > STORAGE > Schedule and follow the same steps as above.

Link sensors to cameras

Once you’ve completed the Fusion setup, you can link motion and door/window sensors to any compatible camera, so that when the sensors are triggered the linked automatically cameras record.

WiFi Camera 3rd Gen setup via Green Feathers app

This guide shows you how to set up your WiFi Bird Box Camera, Solar Powered WiFi Camera, or Garden Wildlife Camera on WiFi

Before you begin

Test the WiFi signal strength by taking your smartphone/tablet to the site where you plan to install your camera; if it has a weak signal at the installation site then the camera may struggle to maintain a connection (see section 9 Hints & Tips at the bottom of the guide for help with WiFi signal strength)
.

Insert a micro SD card if you have one; hold the camera with the lens facing up, then insert the micro SD card with the metal contacts facing up. Push it in fully until you feel it click into place. If you have trouble inserting the SD card to the point where it clicks into place, hold it down with your thumb then use a thin object like a pen to push it down fully
.

Before you mount the camera in the bird box, make sure it’s connected to your WiFi router and can be viewed on the app. It’s best to set the camera up when it’s plugged in a different room to your router, then once it’s connected you can unplug it and install it in the final location

Ensure the device being used to set up the camera is connected to the same WiFi network that you want the camera to be connected to (this is only required for the setup process)

Make sure you know the name and password of the WiFi network which the camera will be connected to

Make sure that you are connecting the camera to a 2.4GHz WiFi signal; if you don’t know what this is you can read more here

Plug in the power supply into the trailing cable of the camera; after the camera has powered on you will hear a three note chime, and the camera will start saying “Wait for WiFi config”

Remove the lens cap on the camera, if it has one, and remove the cap on the reset button

Let’s get started

To get started, open the app:

1. Registering an account

Tap ‘Sign Up’ to create an account, then select ‘Agree’ for the ‘User Agreement and Privacy Policy’. If you have already signed up then skip below to the section called ‘Adding the camera to the app’.

Once your account is all setup, just log in to the app!

2. Adding the camera to the app

The first time you go to the Home page, you can choose to allow the app to use your device location. This is not essential, but helps with some features. Next, click the green ‘+’ icon at the top right of the screen.

Now select the model of camera you are setting up, then select “QR mode”:

3. Setting to QR mode and resetting the camera

Follow the instructions on the app or below to reset the camera.

Now tick ‘Next step’ and select ‘Next’.

4. Entering the WiFi details

Now you need to enter the details of the WiFi network that you want the camera to connect to. The name of the WiFi network which your phone or tablet is connected to should be automatically filled in, so just enter the password. To change the WiFi network your device is connected to, tap the icon to the right of the WiFi name:

5. Scanning the QR code

When you select ‘Next’, the app will display a QR code to you. Point the camera 15-20cm away from the QR code, directly facing the screen, and the camera should register it and say ‘Connect router’. When it says this, tap the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button.

If the camera is not scanning the QR code, try slowly increasing or decreasing the distance between the camera and phone screen to bring the QR code into focus. It can sometimes be easier with the phone placed on a flat surface to help keep the camera pointed in the right direction while slowly moving it.

It is also possible to re-adjust the focus on the lens which can be done by gently twisting it. The nut around the bottom of the lens will need loosening first. It is best to adjust the lens a small amount at a time as it shouldn’t be far out of focus.

After you have tapped the ‘I Heard a Prompt’ button, the app should automatically begin connecting to the camera.

After a minute or so, it should have found the camera and added it to the app, you can set a name for the camera now, or later on in the settings menu.

6. Troubleshooting

If the camera does not connect to your WiFi:

If you have connected it to your internet router, but it shows the message ‘Establishing encrypted channel‘ and doesn’t load: 

Remember, this guide only applies to the 3rd Gen NCIP3WF which was released in December 2020, if you have an older model of the camera have a look at our guide for the NCIP9WF or for the NCIP2WF. If you are unsure which camera you have, have a look at this article.

7. Adding and renaming the camera

Now you can rename the camera by tapping the pencil icon to the right of the camera name. Once it is added, to view the camera go back to the ‘Home’ page using the icon at the bottom left then select your camera from the list.

The app will start searching for your camera with a 2minute count down, once it has been found you will be presented with the screen below.

If the camera does not connect at this stage, try going through the wired setup steps again without resetting the camera.

5. Resetting the camera

1. Power on the device and wait for it to play three notes to indicate it has started up
2. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds; you will hear it say ‘Reset, camera reboot’.
3. When the camera starts saying ‘Wait for Wi-Fi config’ or has a flashing red indicator light, tick ‘Next step’. Once your camera has been reset you can re-connect it to Wi-Fi.

Step 1: Login to your Synology NAS via a browser​

Step 2: Click the Package Center icon​

Step 3: Search for and install the Surveillance Station software (it should be on the home page of the package center, if not you can use the search bar to find it)​

Step 4: Click the Synology main menu at the top left of your screen and open the newly installed Surveillance Station software​

Step 5: Click the IP Camera icon​

Step 6: Click the add button when the new window open and then click add camera from the drop-down​

Step 7: Select Quick Setup and then click the next button​

Step 8: Enter the camera details manually or click the Search icon next the IP Address box​

Step 9: Check both the Synology Supported Cameras and ONVIF lists (some camera models are not directly supported by Synology, but as long as the camera is ONVIF compliant you should be able to add it to the Surveillance Station software)​

Step 10: Select the camera you want to add from one of the lists and click OK​

Step 11: Check that all the camera details are filled in, including the cameras username & password (also give the camera a unique name to help you identify it from other cameras)​

Step 12: Click the Test Connection button and if the test is successful you’ll get a green tick and a live shot from the camera, you can then click Finish and the camera will be added to your Synology NAS​

If the test is not successful you will have to go back and check the camera’s settings are correct, the most common problem is that the camera has an IP address that is not on your network, after you have followed our instructions from a previous video on how to change the IP address you should get a successful connection and be able to add the camera.

At your first login to the system, there will be a quick guide to help you set up the basic information of your NVR.

Time Setup

Please adjust the time and date to be the same as your local.

Network

On this page you could see the network information about your system. Click “Next” to continue.

Install XMeye App

Scan QR code of the App to download the app.After the app downloaded, please create your own profile account on the app. And then scan the QR code of the serial number of the NVR to add it into the app. Please ensure the NVR is online before you watch videos of it on the App.

CameralChannel Setting

Before installing your cameras to the final position, please check and adjust the position and the angle of the cameras.

Adjust the display settings of the monitor images

General Setting

In the General Settings, you can change the language, the action when the storage is full and the auto logout intervals if you want to get a better protection of your NVR.

Record Configuration

In the Record Configuration, you can set up the record mode for each channel to save space of the HDD and only record the important videos. 

Channel: The channel which you want to do settings of record configuration.

Length: The standard length of each video segment.

Mode:The way you want to record videos. 

1.Schedule:The selected channel will only record during the chosen time period.

2.Manual: The selected channel will record 24/7.

3.Stop:The selected channel will not record any video.

*Notice: If you would like to set the recording mode to “Alarm”, please make sure that you have enabled the alarm function of the corresponding channel.

The Al smart security camera system supports intelligent alerts.such as human detection and face detection. In order to adjust the related settings, please enter “Intelligent Alert “in “Alarm” menu.

Channel:Choose the camera which you want to do alert settings. 

Enable:When you tick off it , the camera will not detect any movements. 

Human Detect:The camera will detect human activities by recognizing humanoid body shape.

Face Detection:The camera will detect human face when this is ticked. 

Record: When this option is ticked on, the camera will record a video segment when human detected. 

Mobile Reported: When it is ticked on, the camera will send alert notifications to your mobile app when it detects movements or human activities.

Alarm Sound: When it is ticked on, the camera will sound a voice alarm when it detects movements or human activities.

Sensitivity:Adjust the detection sensitivity of the camera. 

Rule:Set advanced detection rules like safe zone or line cross alarm. 

*Notice: If the “Enable” option is on and the “Human Detect” is off, the camera will detect all movements, including pets, vehicles, plants, trees, etc. Therefore, we recommend you to active “Human Detect” to reduce false alerts. It shows that “Human Detect” function can reduce 98%-99% of the false alerts.

Advanced Settings of Human Detection

Period: The time period of the detection. 

MD Interval: The interval between 2 human motion movements alerts. 

PostRec: To adjust the length of the video after the camera detects abnormal movements.

Tour: Not applicable. 

Snapshot: When it is ticked on, the camera will take snapshots when it detects abnormal movements. 

Send Email: When it is ticked on, the camera will send alerts to your e-mail address. 

Buzzer: When it is ticked on, the NVR will make beeps alarm after the camera detects abnormal movements. 

Write Log: When it is ticked on, the NVR will note down the alarm record. You can
review the records by following this path: Right-Click Menu > Main Menu > Advanced > LOG. 

FTP Upload:Not Applicable. 

Voice Prompts:To choose the different alarm sounds for the voice prompts. 

Advanced Settings of Face Detection

Period: To Set the time period of detection. 

MD Interval: The interval between 2 alerts.

On screen of the monitor with live video , you can view the human faces detected by the cameras. You can easily and quickly get whether the persons detected by the camera are your friends or an intruder. If it is an intruder, the face detection function can help take some actions as soon as possible to protect your safety and property. Please follow the path below to enable the “Face Detection”.

Right-Click Menu > Face Detection

When the cameras detect human faces, the NVR will show you these faces on the right side of the screen like the image above.

How to Set Up Your Email to Receive Alert Notifications

Please follow the paths below to set up the email which you want to get alerts from the security camera system.

Right-Click Menu > Main Menu > Network > Net Service > EMAIL (Please OUBLE CLICK on “EMAIL” to enter the setting interface)

Please enter the required information of your emails in the “User Name” “Sender” and “Receiver”.
If you want to receive the alert notifications with an email different from sender email address, you can input a different email in the “Receiver”.
In the “Password”, you need a 16 digits App password. Let’s take “Gmail “as an example to show you how to get this password.

How To Get 16-Digit App Password

Enable IMAP access of your e-mail.

Log into your Google account. In “Security” section, find “Signing in to Google”.

If the “2-Step Verification” is off, please enable it.

Enter ”App passwords”. Select the app and device for which you want to generate the app password, or you can name your own app and device, then click “GENERATE”.

You will get a 16 digits password, this is the password you need to use later to set up your e-mail notice in NVR system.

Rule – Safe Zone & Line Cross Alarm

We can set up a safe zone for our camera.

The camera will only detect or sound alarm when there’s abnormal activities in the safe zone. Click on the “Set” button next to “Rule”.

Choose the safe zone shape which you would like to use. In this user manual, we use rectangle as example.

When we choose “Tripwire” in stead of “Intrusion”, there will be a line on the screen and the camera will only detect or sound alarm when people cross this line.

Video Blind: The camera is covered and blinded.

Video Blind

Channel: Choose the right channel of which you would like to adjust the settings. 

Enable: The master switch of the video blind alarm. 

Sensitivity: Change the sensitivity level of the video blind alarm.

*e.g. You have set channel 1 and channel 2 to record videos in “video blind” interface. One day, a burglar walks to your front door and your channel 1 camera sounds an alarm. The burglar covers the camera with his jacket and run to your driveway, where your channel 2 camera is installed. When the video blind alarm is triggered by channel 1, because you have set channel 2 to record videos too, so the channel 2 camera will also record videos and you will have videos with multiple angles of this burglar. These evidence will help police officers to catch this criminal.

Snapshot Configuration

In “Snapshot Configuration”, we can set our cameras to take snapshots.

Cycle Capture

When we choose “Cycle Capture”, the camera will take snapshots periodically. For example, the default snapshot period is 64 seconds, it means the camera will automatically take snapshot every 64 seconds.

EMAIL: When this option is on, the NVR will send the snapshots captured by the cameras to your e-mail address. 

FTP: Not applicable. 

Storage: When this option is on, the NVR will store the snapshots captured by the cameras in the HDD. 

Timing Capture

When we choose”Timing Capture”, the camera will take snapshots at the time that we set.

Playback

In this part, we can review the video records taken by the cameras.

There are 6 different playback modes:

Common Playback: You can review all the video records.

Common Playback: You can review all the video records.

*e.g.:
On May 1st, you only have your channel 1 recording videos;
On May 2nd, You have your channel 1 and your channel 2 recording videos;
In “Common Playback”, you will see that there are records on May 1st and on May 2nd;

Dayparting: You can review the video records of the chosen channels during the selected period.

Smart Express: The selected alarm type videos will play at normal speed. The remaining videos will speed up to save your time. 

Smart Search: You can review the video playback of the selected alarm type within the selected time period. 

Face Search: You can review the video playback of detected human faces in the selected time period.

How to connect a LaView Saturn Series IP Camera to a Non-Saturn Series NVR

5a. If you are connecting the camera to the NVR PoE port, set up the Target IP to 192.168.254.xxx (xxx being a random number from 2-254), and Gateway to  192.168.254.1, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0. Then unplug the camera from the PoE switch or Router and connect it to the NVR using Cat5e cable.

5b. If you are connecting the camera via LAN, use DHCP or set up the IP address to your network range. For example: Target IP 192.168.0.217, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1

6. Go the NVR Menu => Camera => Camera.

7. Click on the channel which the camera is connected to (ie if the camera is connected to port 3 on the back of the NVR, click on channel 3). If you are connecting the camera via LAN, Click on any unused channel.

8. Change ‘Plug and Play’ to ‘Manual’ and enter the camera IP address (192.168.254.xxx or 192.168.0.217 as in previous example)

9. Change protocol to ONVIF and Management port is 80

10. Enter user name and password you set up when you activated the camera in step 3.

How to reset LaView Saturn IP Camera

What should I do if I connect a LaView Saturn Camera to LV-N96, LV-N95, LV-N98 series NVR but only get 720P maximum resolution in main stream?

If you only get 720p in mainstream, it means the IP camera is set to H.265. Please use the following instruction to switch the camera to H.264 compression.

The system worked seamlessly until last week when it suddenly shut off and now won’t come back on

Would suggestion you follow the instruction below for troubleshooting,

1.Please ensure the cameras are connected, would suggest you to connect them directly to the PoE ports at the back of the system.

2.At the day time, try to cover the camera lens with your hands to see if there is a IR red light on the problematic cameras. And please also check if the camera goes hot when it is connected.

3.The camera appears not to get powe if there is no light and heat. We will need to check if it is the camera/port/cable issue.

1.At first, please switch the problematic camera to the workable PoE ports to test. You can also go to your PoE Configuration setting to check the power.

2.If it still doesn’t work with another port, please exchange the cable to check again. If possible, you can also add the camera to another system to confirm the problem.

NVR is showing offline on Platform Access menu

In this case, please check the connection between the router and the NVR. Unplug and plug the ethernet cable to make sure the connection is solid. 

Then go to the NVR system, enable ‘DHCP’, “Obtain DNS Server Address” and ‘Platform Access’, disable  ‘DDNS’ and check if the status of the NVR changes from “Offline” to “Online”. Please see the pictures attached as a reference.

If it doesn’t work, please try to reboot the system to see if the issue can be resolved.

How to add Wi-Fi Cam (One PT ) to your NVR

1. Make sure One PT camera and the NVR are well connected to the same LAN. 

2. Enter the camera management menu of NVR, select an unoccupied channel, and click the “Edit” icon to add the camera manually.

3. Make sure the adding method is manual, select the ONVIF protocol, enter the correct IPv4 Address and password of the camera. 

 (Please click the link below, download the IP Portal software to your PC/laptop. Then open it to locate the IP Address and the management port of your camera.)

4. Click ‘Ok’ to save the settings and then you will be able to view the One PT camera on

Password Reset via XML files

Please find a 12V power adapter to power up your camera. And directly connect this camera to the router with an Ethernet cable if you need to reset the password via XML files.

Please power on the device (NVR/DVR/cameras) and connect it to the router via an ethernet cable first.

Then find the attachment and follow the instructions to export the XML file and send it to us. We will help to generate a key file and send it back to you to reset the password.

Kindly pay attention to the following when you export the file.

1. BOTH THE EXPORTED AND IMPORTED XML FILE IS VALID FOR ONLY 24 HOURS.

2. MAKE SURE THE DEVICE STAYS POWER ON AND ONLINE AFTER EXPORTING THE FILE.

Setup Email Notification

Please refer to the instructions to set up the email notifications. Here I will take the Outlook account as an example. (Sorry that Gmail is not supported anymore, please use other email addresses to set it up.)

First, please go to the Outlook mailbox settings and enable POP option.

Secondly, please go to your camera management settings -> tap into ‘Settings’ -> find ‘Linakge Action’ to enable ‘Send Email’ for each of your camera.

Thirdly, please go to your system menu -> find ‘Configuration’ -> find ‘Network’ -> click the ‘Email’ option and enter the email information:

Set up DDNS

You may follow the steps below to enable the DDNS feature,

1.Log in to http://laviewddns.com/ and set up an account

2.In the NVR interface, enter the correct account and setting in DDNS menu

3.In the router menu, assign Port 80, Port 8000 and Port 8554 to the IP address of the system

4.Go to www.canyouseeme.org to ensure the ports are opened

Set up PC viewing by PT Cloud

If you need to remotely view your system when you are not under the same Wi-Fi, please try to follow the steps below to set up the P2P connection.

Before adding your system to the PC software, please make sure your system is connected to the router(network) and is showing ‘Online’ status. Please go to your system menu -> Configuration -> Network -> PT Cloud/Platform Access to double-check your system’s online status.

Here I will take my NVMS V3 as an example.

1. Go to NVMS V3, go to ‘Maintenance and Management.

2. Click ‘Add’ here.

3. Choose ‘PT COULD’ here.

4. Log in to the LaView Connect app. Go to the ‘More’-> ‘Account Management’. Note down the ‘Username'(which belongs to your LaView P2P account) and ‘Country/Region’ information.

5. Get back the Client Software.

6. After logging in to the PT cloud account, please tap ‘Online’ and search for and choose the online device you would like to add.

7. Input the verification code set in ‘Platform Access’ in NVR and tap the “Add” icon.

8. Then you are good to go now.

9. Go to ‘Main View’ on the Client Software, you are also required to input the same verification code to watch the cameras. Please input the one as #7.

Set up PC viewing by IP address

Please download the PC software NVMS V3 or NVMS 7000 on your laptop to set up PC viewing. Kindly find the tools at this link: http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/downloads

Here are more instructions about the NVMS V3.

In the example, NVMS V3 will automatically detect the online device so we are adding the device with its IP address. In this way, the system and the computer will be requested to connect to the same local network so that the software can auto-detect the online system.

1. Please go to ‘Device Management.

2. Please go to ‘Online device’ and your system will be found automatically.

3. Please choose your system from the online device and click on ‘Add’.

​4. Please enter the admin name and the admin password of your system in the box popping out.

5. Your system should be added and please go to ‘Main View’ on the home page.

No video on monitor

Will need to confirm the resolution of the camera first. Kindly note that the resolution of the monitor should be higher than the camera’s. Otherwise, the monitor will go black. Please get in touch with our LaView Support Team and provide the model number of your camera as well as your system if you do not know the system resolution.

If the monitor and system work fine before but quit working suddenly, please change the HDMI/VGA cable to check this issue.

If you have another monitor, please also exchange it to see if it can work. If necessary, you can also try to access your system on your computer to double-check.

As for PC viewing, please download the PC software NVMS V3 or NVMS 7000 to your computer/laptop to get access. (Kindly find them from this link: http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/downloads) NVMS V3 tool is the latest version. NVMS 7000 can support the Mac system.

I tried to change the name of my camera, but I’m getting “Camera Does not support this function”.

It is possible that there are no cameras connected to that specific channel or the camera has lost connectivity. If you are using a third-party camera it is possible the ONVIF protocol supported by camera is outdated which does not support OSD configuration.

Is it possible to connect a third-party camera to a LaView NVR, or a LaView Camera to a third-party NVR?

Yes, if the third-party devices support the ONVIF protocol and you are using the correct setup for the specific camera.

I’m having issues connecting my NVR to my phone

Possible Fixes:

1.Please go to Menu-Configuration-Network and under the General tab make sure enable DHCP is selected, if it is not enabled then select enable and apply. If you had to enable it, restart the NVR and try the P2P setup again.

2.If you are still having issues, make sure DDNS is NOT enabled(unchecked). If DDNS is checked, uncheck it and apply then go back to Platform Access and disable P2P and apply. Once both are disabled, do a power cycle and reboot the unit. After the unit restarts enable P2P again, and do another power cycle.

3.Go to Extranet Access, Platform Access or DDNS and make sure LaView P2P is selected then apply, also make sure “Enable Stream Encryption” is disabled.

4. If none of these work, then it could be a network issue. Try to restart your modem/router by unplugging it for about 45 seconds. Plug it back in and restart the NVR, then try to reconnect your system to the P2P account.

How Do I find my system’s IP address?

To find your system’s IP address go to Main Menu>Maintenance>System Info>Network. The IPv4 Address at the top is your local IP. If your IP address is 0.0.0.0 or 192.0.0.64, this means your system is offline. There are a few causes from this, but usually, it’s a bad ethernet cable or the cable is not plugged in properly to either the DVR or Router. If those are checked to be correct, try restarting your router by unplugging it for a minute and restarting the DVR.
