Step by Step Instructions

1. Log into the Axis IP camera via it’s IP address in order to check the configuration of: Login credentials, HTTP port (default is 80), and RTSP port (default 554).

2. Use the username and password to login via the Axis camera credentials.

3. Select Setup, and then Select System Options once the page has loaded.

4. Then select Security, and then Users (Axis) or ONVIF (ONVIF). Once here you can make another account and set permissions if you do not want to use the main account credentials for this camera.

5. Now log into your Dahua recorder.

6. Once the Preview page has loaded select the Setup tab and then go to Remote->Remote to add a camera.

7. Select Manual Add to manually add the camera via it’s Manufacturer profile (Axis or Onvif), IP address, RTSP Port, HTTP Port, User Name and Password. Then select save.

8. If you want to use ONVIF please make sure your camera supports ONVIF profile S and is updated to the latest firmware via AXIS’s support site. Also in step 2 you might need to add an ONVIF user credential for the User Name and Password.

9. Once the device had been added make sure that the status indication is green, if it is not please check if the information added in step 7 or 8 is correct.

10. Select the Preview tab, and then select the camera to check if the video is running properly. Sometimes a Dahua recorder might need a firmware update to gain compliance with the 3rd party camera.

This article will show you how to set up Event / Alarms for devices added to DSS Express

Event / Alarm types can be enabled for events for a device such as Disk Full, Device Disconnected, among many others. The Alarm types a device supports will be listed in the Event Configuration Page

Prerequisites

Step by Step Instructions

1. On DSS Express Client main menu, click on Config

2. Select the device from the device tree on the left

Click Event Configuration to enter the event configuration page

3. Start by selecting the Alarm type (for example Disk Full)

Click/toggle to enable

4. Use the dropdown box to select Priority (Alarm Level) and Time Template (Schedule / Arm time for Alarm)

Clicking Time Template will show a list of default schedules

Click Manage time template to create a custom template / schedule

5. Click Add Time Template to create a new Template

Enter a name for the template

Click in the field to edit the day/time for the template

Click OK

6. Click OK to save

7. The schedule has now been created for the Alarm Type

You can use the other sections to enable other outputs when the Alarm is triggered: for example Link PTZ

Follow these instructions to update the firmware on a recorder using a USB storage drive. Be sure to download the appropriate firmware for your device.

How To Upgrade Firmware via NVR Cloud Update

Description

Select NVRs now have the capability of updating firmware from the cloud.

When the NVR detects there is a newer firmware in the cloud, a red ‘1’ icon will appear at the System icon.

The entire process takes about 5 minutes depending on network connection.

1. Connect the NVR and IP Camera directly to your router or modem with a CAT5 cable.

2. Open the ConfigTool and locate your NVR and IP Camera.

8. Go back to the NVR page, go to Settings->Network->WiFi Device Manage

Confirm that the camera is displaying on this page and note the IP address.

9. On the NVR page, go to Setting->Camera->Remote and click, “Manual Add”

10. Input the following:

• Channel: (Any)

• Manufacturer: Private

• IP Address: (Your IP Camera’s IP Address)

• TCP Port: 37777

• User Name: admin

• Password: (Your IP Camera’s password.) Default is, “admin”

Record Schedule Setup

Setup Video and Snapshot Recording for the Thermal Camera

From the Main Menu click Management > Camera

Under Registration

The thermal camera will appear in the Channel list as two channels, one for the visual channel and one for the thermal channel, in this example are Channels 1 and 2

Click Management > Storage

Click Schedule

Click Setting to adjust the Record schedule (when the camera will record) for the thermal camera channel

Use the interface to select the days and enter a Time Period. Select the Record type you wish to record for the camera: Alarm and IVS must be enable for the Temperature Alarm to record.

Click OK

The schedule will be updated

Click Copy

Select the other channel of the Thermal Camera (in this example Channel 2)

Click OK

Click the Snapshot tab

Configure the Snapshot schedule record settings the same way s the previous steps

Click OK to save

Click Storage > Record

Thermal Configuration

Configure the settings of the Temperature Monitoring Solution

1. From the Main Menu of the webUI select AI

2. Click Parameters > Smart Plan

Use the dropdown to select the Thermal Channel

3. Click to enable the Thermal Temperature Monitoring Smart Plan

Click OK

Return to the Main Menu by closing the AI tab (clicking X)

4. Click Alarm

5. Click Thermal Alarm

Use the dropdown to select the Thermal Channel

Select Thermal Temperature Monitoring

6. Check the box to enable feature

Check the box to enable desired camera hardware response on alarm:

• Camera Audio – audio from camera speaker
• White Light – light from camera

To record Alarms, check the box next to Record Channel and select which channel(s) to record

Click More Setting

Check to enable Alarm Upload

Click OK

Set temperature values for the alarm to trigger

5. Click Setting next to Anatomy Temperature Alarm Rule

Check the box to enable Temperature report – this will report/display all temperature values

Check the box to enable High Temperature Alarm – an alarm will be sent when the temperature is higher than or equal to this value

Click OK

Draw Rule for Detection Region

By default the entire camera frame will be set as the detection region

1. Click Clear to default the Rule

Click Draw Rule

2. Left click inside the frame to begin drawing the detection zone.

Click and drag to draw lines to complete a square/box

Blackbody Setup

1. From Main Menu click Alarm > Thermal Alarm

• Use the dropdown box to select the Thermal channel
• Use the dropdown to select Blackbody Error

2. Check the box to Enable

The default Blackbody rule will be displayed on screen as a blue box

Click to drag the box to position

Click the corners to adjust the size of the box

Click Setting next to Blackbody Parameter to adjust the settings of the Blackbody

Check the box to Enable

Enter desired Blackbody parameters (leave at default for most scenarios)

Blackbody temperature should be set to 95 F / 35 C

Click OK to save

Additional Alarm Parameters

Select which Channel(s) will be recorded as a video

Check to enable Picture Storage for snapshot/images taken during event

2. Click More Setting

Check the box next to Alarm Upload

Select any other desired Alarm parameters:

• Show Message
• Buzzer
• Send Email – How To Setup Email Notifications On Dahua Recorder
• Log

Click OK

Click OK to save all settings

Event Verification

Live View will display the detection zone and Blackbody reference

Once configuration is complete, go to Live interface to verify temperature measurement

Live View (at local interface/monitor) will show the detection zone and blackbody reference

Live View (Right click > AI Mode enabled)

• Temperature detection value will appear
• Statistics will be displayed in top right of screen
• Live events will populate the right side of the screen

• Check measurement value on screen
• Compare it with the value on another device for temperature, such as thermometer:

If you don’t have it on your computer already, download the IP Configuration Utility located here. Extract that file and then open up the folder that it created. Double click on the file show below:

Now in the ConfigTool window that was launched earlier, near the bottom left of the window, select IPv4 from the IP Version selection field and you should see some listings for the IP cameras connected. Click on the first one listed and then click on the Login button.

You should then see the following window appear:

Click on the Login button to enter into the menu that will allow you to upgrade your IP camera(s). Then click on the System Information tab and make note of the current build date of firmware that is in your camera and make sure that the version you downloaded is newer than the version on the camera.

Next, click on the System Upgrade tab and then click on the Open button.

Find the firmware file that you had downloaded, select it and then click on Open

After pressing the Open button, you should see the file path of the firmware file you selected in the Upgrade File field. Press the Upgrade button and you should see the progress bar move as the file is being transmitted and again as the upgrade process is occurring. Please do not disconnect or remove power to camera while this process is occurring, otherwise you may cause irreparable damage to the camera.

Once the upgrade process is completed, you will see the following window pop up, indicating that the upgrade process has completed. Click on the OK button and the camera will then reboot and the program will take you back to the main ConfigTool window.

The camera will take anywhere from 1-3 minutes to reboot fully. After this time, you can click on the Refresh button to see if the camera is again seen on the network. If you would like, you can log back into the camera and click on the System Information tab to see if the upgrade process reflects in the new firmware build date. Clicking on the Return button will take you back to main window. You will need to repeat this process for each of the cameras on your network, and also making sure that if you have differnent models of camera to use the correct firmware update file. 3. Use the drop down box to select the Channel

4. Click the IVS icon to enable.

The icon will highlight when selected.

Click Apply

5. Click Parameters > IVS

6. Use the drop-down box to select the Channel

Then click Add in the lower right side of the screen to Add an IVS rule

8. The created rule will appear in the list

9. Use the dropdown box to change the Rule Type to “Intrusion”

10. Click the Pencil icon to draw the Intrusion rule

11. The Channel will fullscreen.

Left click anywhere inside the video frame to begin drawing the detection area for the Intrusion.

Right click to end drawing.

12. You can use the Intrusion menu that appears for additional rule settings:

• Name: A name can be applied to the rule
• Action
  • Appear
  • Cross
• Direction

Click  icon to set the Target Filter (maximum and minimum size size for Objects to follow rule)

Click  icon to clear the current rule

Once the Intrusion rule settings have been created click OK

13. Click the  icon to set the Trigger settings when the IVS Missing Object rule is engaged.

14. The Trigger menu will appear

Once the trigger rule settings have been created click Apply, then click Back to return to the previous menu

15. Once all Missing Object settings have been configured, Click Apply in the lower right of the screen to save all changes

16. The created Intrusion rule is now programmed

This article is to show you how to back up the video file from new system UI.

• Dahua North America device with new latest firmware
• Monitor connected to the device itself

1. From the main menu, go to the second menu page, and click on Backup.

2. Backup page will launch as shown below:

3. You must plug in an external drive to save your downloaded file. Select the path where you want to save the file at. From this pop-up screen, you have an option to create new folder. After you select, click OK.

4. Select the Record Channel you like to search. You can only search 1 channel at a time.

5. Select the Recording Type you like to search.

6. Set the start and end time for searching. Then click Search. All recorded files that meets your search criteria will shown on the list.

7. Select the files, and click Backup.

8. Downloading process start.

9. Once finished, the folder information will pop up, then click OK.

This article will show you three different methods to add a dahua device to our New GUI recorders. We will be adding a dahua camera with all three methods.

Step by Step Instructions

Method 1:

This first method is extremely simple if all the cameras are still set to default credentials and settings. We will do a device search on the network and add them with a click of a button

• First go to Camera>Registration

• Click on “Device Search”, it will scan the network and pick up any cameras on it

• Check the box of the camera you are adding and click on “ADD” and you will see the camera populate on the bottom box

• Give it a few seconds and click on refresh to see if it was added properly. As you can see the status light is now green

Method Two:

The second method is used if there’s an existing camera and it’s password was changed. You will use device search to locate the camera and then go to manual add to change the password it’s being added with

• Do a Device Search to locate the camera. Check the camera and click on “Manual Add”

• A popup window will come up and most of the information will be populated. You will just need to change the password, click on save when you’re done.

• The camera will now be added

Method Three:

This last method is used when Device Search fails and cannot locate the camera on the network. You will need to type in the camera’s information manually.

• Click on Manual Add

• Input all the required information

• After manually inputting the information click on “Save”

• If the information was correct then the camera will be successfully added and have a green status light
