How to properly install the security camera?

 When installing security cameras, LongPlus always recommends placing cameras up high. The outdoor installation location should be 7ft away from the ground. Here are the best places to install security cameras around your home: front & back doors, garage & driveway, yard, common areas, main stairway or hallway, or any side doors or large first-floor windows that an intruder could gain access through.

 🟠 Typically, home cameras are placed in the corners of the room to optimize the viewing angle. LongPlus recommends at least two cameras to fully cover a large space, such as a living room. To fully monitor your home, users can add cameras in each room to achieve a complete home monitoring system.

🟠 Battery cameras can not be installed behind a window/glass if you want to use the “Motion Detection” feature.

Battery cameras use PIR (passive infrared) motion detection, an energy-efficient (saving battery power) technology that captures motions by detecting infrared radiation (radiant heat) emitted or reflected by objects. When the camera is mounted behind a window/glass, infrared radiation does not pass through the window/glass. As a result, the “Motion Detection feature” does not work reliably. If you want the camera to detect motions outside, it is recommended that you mount the camera outside.

For plug-in/wired cameras, the answer is yes, as they use camera video analytics rather than PIR sensors to detect motions. As long as they “see”, they can detect motions. So you can mount the camera behind a window/glass with confidence.

How to find the serial number of LongPlus security camera?

🟠 Each LongPlus security camera has a serial number. These are usually located on the body label of the security camera, starting with S/N:*****. Also, if you’ve added your camera to the app, you can also tap the camera “setting” icon > tap the “>” extension icon > tap the “More info” button to find the camera’s serial number.

Is LongPlus security camera waterproof?

🟠 Yes. The waterproof rating of LongPlus camera is IP65. It can be “protected against water jets from any angle”. Generally, the camera can be used outdoors on ordinary rainy and snowy days. However, it may get damaged in extreme weather. But if the camera is installed under the roof or in a place with some shelter, it can get protection to a certain extent. Besides, please don’t expose the camera’s charging port, power button, and microSD card slot to water.

What do the indicator lights on LongPlus security camera mean?

🔵 Solid Blue Light – The camera is working properly.

What is the default language of LongPlus security cameras?

Can I see the infrared light at night?

How to format a Micro SD card?

🟠 Sometimes after inserting a Micro SD card, the camera will report “Please use the app to format your SD card first”, that’s because your Micro SD card is not the FAT32 format that the camera supports. In this case, please tap the camera Setting icon > tap SD card > tap Format to format it.

How to record/save videos on a Micro SD card?

🟠 Installing a Micro SD card does not mean the camera will record a video to the Micro SD card all the time.

When the camera detects a movement, it will record a video to the cloud and the cloud recording will display in the Library in the app. If apart from the cloud recordings you want to save backup videos on a Micro SD card at the same time, you can insert a Micro SD card into the camera.

🟠 Here are tips:

1. Find the Micro SD card slot and insert your Micro SD card: Mostly, the Micro SD card slot is next to the power button and is under the rubber plug of the camera body. However, for some models of cameras, you may need to take off the outer shell of the camera to find the Micro SD card slot.

2. If the Micro SD card is detected, you will hear “SD card detected” at the time when it is inserted, and you can see both the storage of the Micro SD card and “SD Card Video” in the app.

Please note that the camera only supports legitimate brand-name (SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston) Micro SD cards, but may not be able to support no-brand, fake, expansion (the storage is extended), and read-only (you aren’t able to put a file to it) Micro SD cards

How to view videos on the Micro SD card?

You can view videos on the Micro SD card from the app or on your computer.

To view videos on the Micro SD card from the app, please tap the camera “setting” icon on the app homepage > tap “SD card video” on the “Camera Setting” page > select the date on the top > swipe the screen left and right until the green vertical line overlaps the grey “bubble”( If there is no grey “bubble”, that means there are no motions detected in that period).

If you want to zoom in on the specific time before playing a video, you can swipe two fingers left and right at the same time or tap the “magnifying glass” icon.

How to activate cloud storage?

🟠 The cloud storage we gift you is automatically activated and contains free 3 days rolling cloud storage. You can view the cloud-stored videos in the last 7 days at any time.

When the SD card is full will it overwrite the older files?

🟠 Yes, when the SD card is full, the camera will delete the earlier recorded video so you don’t need to format the SD card manually.

Can the camera be used without a memory card?

🟠 Without a memory card, the recorded video will be automatically saved in the cloud, you can watch the video for nearly 7 days in the cloud.

How long does it take to charge LongPlus camera once?

🟠 It will take about 8 -15 hours to fully charge the camera once. When the security camera is fully charged, the indicator light will turn solid green.

Why can’t the battery be charged?

🟠 The following factors may cause charge failure. Please check them one by one:

(1) The charging device is not suitable, or it malfunctions. Please make sure the power adapter and charging cable are in good condition. The power adapter specification is “5V/1.5A”.

(2) The charging port is defective. Possible causes include: the Micro USB cable and the charger or the charging port of the camera are not plugged in properly; there are objects in the charger or the charging port of the camera.

(3) Please confirm whether there are objects in the camera’s charging port or the charger port and clean it before charging.
Please ensure that the Micro USB cable is in good contact with the ports on both ends of the charger and camera.

(4) You can try to connect the Micro USB cable and the charger to other devices (such as mobile phones or computers) to see if they work normally. If anyone doesn’t work, please change to a new one to try again.

(5) The long-time operation leads to charge port oxidation or internal looseness. Please repair or replace the charge port immediately.
The charging cable is damaged or broken. Please replace the Micro USB cable that can work normally.

(6) The charging cable should not be too long. The required cable length is generally not more than 16 feet (5 m). Please replace the Micro USB cable with a suitable length.

(7) The charging environment is not suitable; excessively high or low temperature makes charging impossible. Please move to a place with an appropriate temperature environment (0°C ~ 45°C) for charging.

If the above are ruled out but the issue still persists, please submit feedback from the app for further technical assistance.

Why can’t the battery be used for a long time?

🟠 The battery life mainly depends on the total working duration of the camera. The following factors may lead to fast battery consumption. Please check them one by one:

1. Users frequently view live streams/The camera is frequently activated to record videos.
In order to make the camera work longer, please avoid turning on the live broadcast for a long time.

2. Poor Wi-Fi connection to the camera
If the camera’s Wi-Fi connection is bad or unstable, it will continue to actively search for networks, so the battery will drain quickly.
Please try to place the camera near the Wi-Fi router. Thick walls, bricks, ceramics, electromagnetic equipment, large amounts of liquid, and large metal objects can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Please try to avoid these objects.

3. Extremely cold weather shortens battery life
The operating temperature of the camera is -10°~45 °C. Please do not place the camera in an extremely cold environment.

4. Night Sight will consume more battery power
When you enable Night Sight, the camera will enter night mode when the light is darker than the threshold (sensitivity level). Camera performance is improved when it is dark.
Therefore, for sharp nighttime images, we don’t recommend disabling it, although it may drain more battery power. But if you still want to disable it, you can tap the camera “Settings” icon > tap “Lighting Settings” > close “Night Sight”.

How can I extend the battery life?

🟠 The battery life is largely determined by the number of recordings and the number and duration of live. Here are the suggestions to extend the battery life:

(1) To reduce false triggers. Change the location or angle of the camera. Please allow us to explain how motion detection works: when the PIR sensor perceives a change in the environment, motion detection will be triggered. The change in the environment can be a moving object, light change, the alternation of hot and cold air, etc. Particularly common false triggers include trees shaking after being blown by the wind, the cold air of the air conditioning, etc.

(2) Set motion detection sensitivity to Low or Medium. After doing that, the distance the PIR sensor can detect will become shorter so that false triggers may be reduced.

(3) Shorten the recording duration of the camera. Currently, the camera-supported recording durations are 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, and automatic (up to 3 minutes). For your reference:

(4) Set Sleep mode. This feature allows you to schedule the working hours for the camera. Whether the camera enters sleep mode on schedule, or you enable Sleep, the camera will be deactivated. Under this condition, the live feed will not be accessed, motion detection (including push notifications, recordings, and camera alarm) will stop working. This can reduce power consumption to save battery life.

(5) If possible, you can try to watch live feeds or adjust camera settings on your mobile phones less frequently.

(6) To avoid or reduce the battery consumption caused by poor network connection. You can place the camera as close to the router as possible, and try to avoid thick walls, bricks, ceramics, electromagnetic wave equipment, a large amount of liquid, and large metal objects.

(7) We suggest that the camera be installed in a suitable temperature environment (14°F~113°F).

(8) It is generally not recommended that you turn off night vision, but if you do not need to monitor at night (watch live and video), you can turn off night vision.

Will Wi-Fi environment affect the camera battery?

🟠 Yes, an unstable or poor network environment will cause the camera to transmit data multiple times, the camera keeps actively searching for the network, or even reconnect to Wi-Fi continuously, which will result in faster battery consumption. Multi-layer concrete walls, brick walls, and overcrowded Wi-Fi channels will cause a bad Wi-Fi environment.

To save the camera’s battery life, please ensure that the network connection is strong.

How to charge the camera?

🟠 Connect the Micro USB cable to a 5V/1.5A power adapter.

🟠 Connect the other end of the USB cable to the camera.

🟠 Plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet.

🟠 Use the solar panel to charge.

How to add users or share your camera with another person?

Once you add a camera to the app, you become the admin of the camera. If you want to add an additional user to watch the camera on multiple devices, let’s say, you want to make another person (your family member or your friend) be able to access the camera on his or her phone, you can share your camera with that person.

🚩Note:

The shared user needs to download the app and register a new account first and the shared user will need to select the same country as you when registering.

Please check if shared user is in the same country/region as you. Click your/shared user avatar to go to “Personal information” >> check “Country” to see if you are in the same country.

If not, maybe you/shared user need to delete the account and re-register by selecting the same country/region to make sure you are in the same country. Click “Account security” >> select “Delete”, then you/shared user can re-register.

Face to Face Sharing

Step 1 Generate the share QR code of the camera

The camera admin taps the Share icon () on the live window on the homepage or taps the Share button on the Camera Setting page, then taps the Camera sharing button to generate a share QR code of the camera.

Step 2 Scan the share QR code using the shared user’s phone

The shared user taps the + icon () on the top right of the homepage, then taps the Add Friend’s Camera button. He/she can also directly tap the Add Friend’s Camera button from the User page. Then scan the generated share QR code.

Step 3 Accept the camera access request

After successfully scanning the share QR code, the camera admin will receive a guest user request. Accept the guest user request, then the shared user will be able to see the camera on the homepage and access the camera. The Person icon indicates this is a shared camera. The camera admin can check the shared account on the Share page.

Remote Sharing

Step 1 Generate the share QR code of the camera

The camera admin taps the Share icon () on the live window on the homepage or taps the Share button on the Camera Setting page, then taps the Camera sharing button to generate a share QR code of the camera.

Step 2 The camera admin screenshots the share QR code and then sends it to the shared user.

Step 3 The shared user saves the screenshot.

Step 4 Scan the screenshot of the share QR code using the shared user’s phone

The shared user taps the + icon () on the top right of the homepage, then taps the Add Friend’s Camera button. He/she can also directly tap the Add Friend’s Camera button from the User page. Then tap the Picture icon on the top right and then choose the saved screenshot to scan.

Step 5 Accept the camera access request

After successfully scanning the share QR code, the camera admin will receive a guest user request. Accept the guest user request, then the shared user will be able to see the camera on the homepage and access the camera. The Person icon indicates this is a shared camera. The camera admin can check the shared account on the Share page.

Are the Cync Indoor and Outdoor Cameras wire-free?

The indoor camera uses a USB power adapter that must be plugged into an outlet, so it’s always on and ready to detect what’s happening. It uses Wi-Fi to connect to the cloud and enable live-streaming, real-time alerts, and clip recording.

The outdoor camera has two versions, a battery-powered outdoor camera and a wired outdoor camera. The wired outdoor camera must be plugged into an outlet. The battery-powered outdoor camera requires it’s battery to be charged.

What is the length of the electrical cord? 

How does the camera save user videos?

Data privacy is extremely important to us. We are giving our users two options based on their personal preferences. You can use a microSD card (sold separately) which allows you to store video locally on the camera and retrieve it securely via the Cync app. Alternatively, the Cam Cync subscription allows video to be backed up and accessed from anywhere via secure cloud storage. For an extra layer of security, two-factor authentication is always required when using the Cync app to view live streams or stored clips.

Does the camera require a subscription or a monthly fee? 

No. Users without a Cam Cync subscription can still view live video, use two-way talk, filter alerts by sound, motion, or people detection, and other great features. Adding a Cam Cync subscription or an optional microSD card for local storage (sold separately) enables clip recording so you never miss a moment.

Can I buy one subscription for multiple cameras, or do I need a subscription for each Cync camera? 

Each camera requires its own subscription at this time.

Do the Cync Indoor and Outdoor Cameras work with voice assistants? 

The cameras work with Alexa and Google. First, pair the camera to the Cync app. Then, enable Alexa or Google through the Alexa or Google Home apps.

Can I view the livestream through the Alexa app and its voice assistant? 

You can view your camera’s livestream through the Alexa app and the Alexa voice assistants that have a screen, like the Alexa Show. You can also enable two-way talk via compatible Alexa devices.

Can the camera be used at night? 

Yes, our camera has automatic night vision included so you can capture videos at nighttime. Note that placing the camera looking through a window will cause issues when using night vision. If using the camera in this way, we suggest turning off the night vision feature in settings.

Why is there a light ring halo when using night vision? 

This happens when you don’t remove the protective cover on the front camera shutter. Remove this cover and the light ring halo will go away.  

Does the camera record and send notifications when motion is detected? 

Yes, when motion is detected the camera will begin recording and send a notification to Cync users who share access to the camera within the Cync app.

Will the camera only notify me if a person is detected, or does it notify me for all motion activity?

You can choose to be notified of sound and/or motion events. You can additionally enable person detection, which filters motion alerts so that they are only triggered when a person is detected (as opposed to a tree branch moving or a dog walking in front of the camera).

Can I view multiple live feeds at the same time? 

Yes! On the home screen of your Cync app, you can see live preview videos of multiple cameras at once.

Who can view my camera feeds? 

Only the Admin can view the camera live feeds. Guests are unable to view or access cameras.

Can I use the Cync Cameras without Wi-Fi? 

No, a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network connected to the internet is required to use the camera. Note that very slow internet speeds will likely impact the functionality of the camera, such as issues loading live streams or recording clips with the Cam Cync subscription.

Can I manually record video or take pictures?

Yes, there are buttons to both take a screenshot as well as record a video when viewing the live stream. These images and videos are stored to your phone’s camera roll.

Will my Indoor or Outdoor Camera continue to record locally from my SD Card after losing Wi-Fi?

As long as your device was commissioned prior to losing WiFi connection, your camera will continue to record clips locally to the SD card.

Why can’t I view my Cync camera’s live feed in the Google Home application?

In order to view live feed from your Cync Camera on the Home app, Google requires a Chromecast or Smart Display to access the camera’s feed.

Can I use this camera outdoors? 

No, the Cync Indoor Camera is rated for indoor use only. 

Can I control the privacy shutter from my phone? 

The physical privacy shutter on the camera can only be controlled from the physical camera. However, you can enable and disable privacy mode from the Cync app when the physical privacy shutter is not pushed up and blocking the camera lens.

Can the Cync Indoor Camera be placed facing out a window to capture outside activity? 

Yes, but automatic night vision will cause image distortion when the camera is facing out of a window due to reflection. If placing the camera in this way, we suggest turning off night vision in settings.

Can I mount the camera on a ceiling? 

Yes! You can mount the camera on a ceiling, and you can enable a 180-degree image flip in the settings menu to show the image right-side up in the app.

What is the Wi-Fi range for this Outdoor Camera? 

Keep the camera in a strong Wi-Fi signal strength. Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the camera’s location. You can do this by looking at the Wi-Fi signal strength on your phone. 1 or 2 bars indicates that the signal may not be strong enough for the camera to connect, or remain connected consistently.

What is the maximum and minimum temperature the plug can be in?

Outdoor Wired Camera Mounting

As the Outdoor Wired Camera will be mounted roughly 7-8ft off of the ground, the camera should be plugged in inside and setup in the Cync app then moved to its permanent outside location.

Install Mounting Bracket

1.After completing setup in the Cync app, choose your mounting location. Use the Cync app’s Wi-Fi signal strength indicator to ensure you’re within Wi-Fi range.

2.Hold mounting bracket in position and mark the hole locations with a pencil.

3.Drill holes with 1/8″ drill bit.

4.Insert screws and mount to wall or soffit, being sure that the arrow on the mount is facing up as shown below.

Attach the Camera to the Mounted Base

5.Identify the two notches at the bottom of the mounting plate.

6.Route the cord through the notches so that the cord going to the outlet is flush with the wall.

7.Align the red notch on the base of your camera with the red notch on the mounting plate.

8.Slide the camera base onto the mounting plate until it clicks into place.

Before installation and app setup, assure your camera’s battery is fully charged.

2.Hold mounting bracket in position and mark the hole locations with a pencil.

4.Insert screws and mount to wall or soffit, being sure that the arrow on the mount is facing up as shown below.

Attach the Camera and Adjust the Position

5.Align the red notch on the base of your camera with the red notch on the mounting plate.

6.Slide the base of the camera onto the mounting plate.

7.Turn the camera base counterclockwise to loosen the ball joint.

8.Adjust the camera to your desired angle (use the camera view in the Cync app to verify your view before locking the ball joint).

9.Turn the neck of the camera clockwise to tighten the ball joint and lock your camera in place.

Recharging and Replacing the Battery

• Recharging

1.Gently pull the camera to detach the magnet from the mounting bracket.

2.Insert one end of the charging cord into the USB port on bottom of the battery. Plug the opposite end of the charging cord into an outlet.

3.For faster charging, remove the battery from the camera and insert the charging cord directly into the battery and an outlet.
NOTE: A full recharge will take an estimated 6 – 8 hours. Charging the battery inside of the camera housing may take longer. The battery LED will change from red to green when charging is complete.

• Battery Replacement

1.Gently pull off the camera to detach the magnet from the mounting bracket.

2.Squeeze the buttons on both side of the camera to release the camera face.

3.Slide up the battery pack to remove it from the camera.

4.Insert one end of the charging cord into the USB port on bottom of the battery. Plug the opposite end of the charging cord into an outlet.

◦ Plug the camera into a covered outlet and secure the power cord tightly to avoid water penetration.

There’s a little bit of everything packed into the Spotlight Cam Pro’s design, including basics like 1080p video, night vision, and two-way audio. But Ring also has some extras, like a siren you can sound, advanced 3D motion detection, and a “Bird’s Eye” view option that gives you a model for where a subject may have gone. We also like that it’s battery-powered with an option to plug into an outlet.

The cam itself is highly capable, with 1080p HDR video, night vision, zoom, two-way audio, and a variety of intelligent alerts. The snap-on mount is also a great way to make installation easy, no matter where you’re putting it. There’s even a feature to keep recording when the power goes down and save an hour of footage into local memory for review.
