Step by Step Instructions

1. Open the Bosch Configuration Manager and select the Refresh Search button at the top to search for all Bosch devices on the network

2. Right click on the IP address of the camera in the list and select “Set Session Authentication…”

3. Enter the username next to “User” and password next to “Password” of the camera
Select “OK”

4. If the correct credentials were entered the red lock next to the camera’s name in the list should disappear. (If it doesn’t, repeat steps 2 and 3)
Select the “Network” tab at the top and note the network information (You can also modify the network settings in this section of the tool)

5. Log into the Dahua recorder
Select “Setup”, then “Image”, and then “Registration” to open the Camera Registration page
Select “Device Search”

6. Scroll through the list of cameras on the top until you see the Bosch camera you are going to add
Check the box next to the Bosch camera and select “Add”
(If you don’t see the camera in the list, select “Manual Add” and skip to Step 8)

7. If the Status shows a Red X, select the Modify (Pencil) button next to the camera
(If the Status shows a Green Check Mark, skip to Step 10)

8. Verify all of the settings on this page match the network information for the camera from Step 4
Fill in the Username and Password for the camera
Select “OK”

9. You should see the Status for the camera change from a Red X to a Green Check Mark
(If you don’t see it change, select “Refresh”. If it still doesn’t change after refreshing repeat Steps 7 and 8)

10. Select “Preview” and then select the channel for the newly added camera on the left
You should see a live view of the Bosch camera

How to add Remote Portal cameras to Bosch Cloud VMS?

Bosch Cloud VMS supports Bosch IP cameras which are registered to Remote Portal by receiving different triggers to be used in Cloud VMS’es Service Scenario.

So events can be forwarded to Cloud VMS Eventmonitor website, Central Monitoring Stations and Bosch Site Monitor App.

In this article it is explained in a step-by-step guide how to activate the needed services in Remote Portal to be able to connect the cameras to Bosch Cloud VMS.

Step-by-step guide

1. Prerequisites:

1.1 Create your Account in Bosch Remote Portal

1.2 Register your cameras to Bosch Remote Portal

Please visit the article How to add Bosch IP cameras to Bosch Remote Portal? to register your cameras to Bosch Remote Portal.

2. Prepare your cameras to work with Bosch Cloud VMS

2.1 Update the cameras to the latest firmware

Please visit the article What are the configuration options for Bosch IP cameras in Remote Portal? > Chapter 2 Batch firmware update to upload the latest firmware to your cameras.

2.2 Configure the Cloud VMS Initial Configuration (Cloud optimized camera settings)

Cameras which are registered to Remote Portal do not get the VSaaS ‘Initial Configuration’ applied during commissioning these cameras to Cloud VMS.

Therefore we recommend you to perform 10 manual configuration steps – deviating from the camera’s factory default settings – to get correct operation over the given Internet connection.

2.2.1 Save the original camera configuration in Remote Portal

Before changing the camera’s settings, save your original camera configuration in Remote Portal:

1. In Remote Portal, click the related camera card and click Configuration Save / Load in the camera’s detail page.

2. Select Save configuration tab and enter a description (e.g. ‘Original Config’) and click Save.

2.2.2 Configure the optimized cameras settings for Cloud VMS.

Note: The following steps can be either performed in Remote Portal for every camera, or in Bosch Configuration Manager – certain settings even for multiple cameras at one time.

Please follow below configuration steps to configure the Cloud optimized camera settings:

Step 1:

In Bosch Remote Portal, click the related camera card and click Device Page Open.

Step 2: Time Server

1. Navigate to General > Date/Time and configure the Time server address as follows:

ntp-us.cbs.boschsecurity.com (for Americas) or
ntp-eu.cbs.boschsecurity.com (for Europe) or
ntp-ap.cbs.boschsecurity.com (for Asia Pacific Region) or
VRM IP address (when recording on VRM based recorder, e.g. Divar IP)

2. Click Set.

Step 3: Time Stamping

1. Navigate to Camera > Installer Menu > Display Stamping and select Time stamping Top

2. Click Set.

Step 4: Camera settings

1. Navigate to Camera > Installer Menu, select Coding standard H.264 and use the Lens Wizard to adjust camera view, focus and zoom (depends on camera model).

2. Navigate to Camera > Installer Menu > Positioning > calibrate the camera and click Set.

3. Navigate to Camera > ALC and increase Day-to-night-switchover to 0.

Step 5: Stream settings

1. Navigate to Camera > Encoder Profile > select Profile 7 and configure as follows:

Profile Name: CBS Recording
Bit rate optimization > select Low bit rate
Maximum bitrate: 1000 kbps
Encoding interval > move slider to 2 fps
Click Expert Settings button
- GOP structure > select IP
- I-frame distance > move slider to 4 (0.50 I-frames/s)

2. Navigate to Camera > Encoder Profile > select Profile 8 and configure as follows:

Profile Name: CBS Live
Bit rate optimization > select Minimum bit rate
Maximum bitrate: 250 kbps
Encoding interval > move slider to 5 fps
Click Expert Settings button
- GOP structure > select IP
- I-frame distance > move slider to 10 (0.50 I-frames/s)

3. Navigate to Camera > Encoder Streams and configure the Encoder Streams as follows:

Stream 1
- Property: select maximum resolution
- Non-recording profile > select 7: CBS Recording
Stream 2
- Property > select SD
- Non-recording profile > select 8: CBS Live

Step 6: Audio settings

1. Navigate to Camera > Audio and select Audio On

2. Input volume > move slider between blue and red color in level control

3. Line Out > move slider to max value

4. Recording format > select AAC 48 kbps

Step 7: Recording Settings

1. Navigate to Recording > Recording Scheduler > select one profile (recommended: last profile (grey))

Rename the selected profile to CBS
Mark the CBS profile > Click Select All > then click Set.

2. Navigate to Recording > Recording Profiles > select CBS profile

a. In field Stream profile settings

Stream 1 > select 7: CBS Recording
Stream 2 > select 8: CBS Live

b. In field Settings for selected recordings

Step 8: VCA Settings

1. Navigate to Alarm > VCA

2. in VCA Configuration > select Profile #1

3. Analysis type > select Intelligent Video Analytics or Essential Video Analytics (depends on camera model)

4. For MOTION+ cameras: Aggregation time > configure 1 to 4 s > click Set.

5. Click Configuration button and configure your VCA tasks, such as Motion in field, Crossing line, Loitering, etc.

Note: VCA configuration needs to be performed with Bosch Configuration Manager.

Step 9: Network settings

1. Navigate to Network > Network Access

2. Set DHCP to On

Note: If DHCP needs to be off on customer request > configure correct Gateway and DNS server addresses.

Step 10: Cloud Connectivity

1. Navigate to Connectivity > Cloud Services

Set the Cloud-based services Operation to On (if not yet done)

2. Navigate to Service > System Overview

Check Cloud connectivity > should be ‘Connected‘

2.2.3 Save the optimized camera settings in Remote Portal

After you have configured the initial configuration, save the optimized camera settings in Remote Portal.

1. In Remote Portal, click the related camera card and click Configuration Save / Load in the camera’s detail page.

2. Select Save configuration tab and enter a description (e.g. ‘Initial Config’) and click Save.

2.3 Organize your cameras in Bosch Remote Portal

3. Activate the needed Services in Bosch Remote Portal

To connect the cameras to Cloud VMS, certain services need to be activated in Remote Portal. A license is required per camera to activate these services.

3.1 The following services provide the connection to Cloud VMS:

The licenses are valid 1 year after activation and usually belong to one (1) device.

Service	License (CTN)	Features
Alarm Management	CBS-ALMGT-CAM	Activates the connection to Bosch Cloud VMS and enables Security Operation Centers (SOC) or end-customers to self-manage alarms in the Bosch Cloud VMS.
Alarm Transmitter	CBS-ALMGT-CAT	Forward camera events with activated Alarm Management Service in the Bosch Cloud VMS to 3rd party Alarm Automation Platforms.
Alarm Notification	CBS-ALMGT-NOTI1	Use Alarm Notification to receive VCA events via the Bosch Cloud VMS on your mobile device with the Bosch Site Monitor App.
Cloud Storage	CBS-EBR-CAM	Record, store and access video event clips in the Bosch Security Cloud.
Alarm Monitoring	CBS-MON-CMS	Use Alarm Monitoring to connect cameras to services of certified Monitoring Centers in the Bosch Partner Network.

Note: Alarm Monitoring and demo licenses are available through Cloud-based Services Product Manager or Tech Support.

3.2 Add licenses into Bosch Remote Portal

1. Order the required licenses by Bosch Order desk > You will get an e-mail with the related license codes included.

2. Logon Bosch Remote Portal as Administrator

3. Navigate to Service Licenses tab

4. Click the + icon

> click Add licenses

5. Paste the license information of the e-mail into the text box and click Save

6. Confirm the licenses and click OK

7. The new licenses appear in the Licenses tab.

3.3 Activate services in Bosch Remote Portal

1. Logon Bosch Remote Portal as Administrator

2. Navigate to Systems tab

3. Select the required camera

4. Under Services select any available service and click Add Service button

5. Enable

with Auto-Renew to automatically use next available license after expiration and click Save.

Note: The services need to be activated for every camera.

4. Add your cameras to Cloud VMS

Add Remote Portal cameras with the activated related service to Cloud VMS:

1. Open Cloud VMS Configuration website (/config), log on as Integrator or Config Agent.

2. Enter the related Account – or create a new Account for the customer.

3. Enter the related Site – or create new Site.

4. Click ‘+‘ button to add the camera to this Site.

5. Select Remote Portal Devices tab.

6. Authenticate with your Remote Portal user and password (Admin or Technician user required).

7. Click Login to Remote Portal button.

8. Select the cameras to add and click Add button.

9. The cameras are connected to Cloud VMS and ready for use in the related Service Scenarios.
So events can be forwarded to Cloud VMS Eventmonitor website, Central Monitoring Stations and Bosch Site Monitor App.

Notes:

To get the connection from Remote Portal to Cloud VMS,working, the cameras need to be in the same region as the Cloud VMS instance.
If the camera does not appear in above list, verify if the related service is activated for this camera in Remote Portal.

How to add 3rd party camera to Bosch Cloud VMS?

Cloud VMS Configuration: Add a 3rd party camera

Bosch Cloud VMS supports to connect 3rd party cameras from version 2.11.0 and later.

Depending on the 3rd party cameras’ capabilities, there are different ways of adding such cameras to Bosch Cloud VMS.

Overview:

1. Add 3rd party cameras with VX Cloud Agent app

1.1 Axis platforms ARTPEC-5, ARTPEC-6 & -7

1.2 Vivotek Schubert platform

Step-by-step guide

1. Add 3rd party camera with VX Cloud Agent app

1.1 Axis platforms ARTPEC-5, ARTPEC-6 & -7

For these Axis cameras, the VX Cloud Agent app needs to be installed in the camera to establish the connection to Bosch Cloud VMS. The Access Token authenticates the connection from the camera to Cloud VMS.

Please perform the following steps:

1. In the local network, find the related camera with AXIS IP Utility.

2. Open the camera’s website
3. Select Settings

4. Select Apps (1)
5. Select “AXIS Video Motion Detection” app (2), start the app (3) and configure motion detection (4)

6. Add and install the “VX Cloud Agent” app.
Note: currently there are different app versions available depending on camera platform and connection w/o and w/ proxy.

7. Open CBS Configuration, add a 3rd Party camera, select VX Cloud Agent App

8. Then copy the Access Token.

Note: Proxy connection is only recommended for corporate managed networks in critical industry with restrictive outgoing firewall rules and without need for load-balancing video connections. Proxy connection is not recommended for large-scale installations.

a. Select Allow reverse port forwarding (1) and Apply default settings (1)

b. Unselect checkbox Ignore cloud settings (2)

c. Add user name (3), password (3) and Access Token (3) and click Save (4).

10. Then Start the VX Cloud Agent app (5).

11. In Cloud VMS Configuration, configure Recording Mode and Cloud Storage.

Now your AXIS camera is set and you should be able to see video from the camera in the Cloud VMS Live View.

1.2 Vivotec Schubert platform

For Vivotek Schubert cameras, the VX Cloud Agent app needs to be installed in the camera to establish the connection to Bosch Cloud VMS. The Access Token authenticates the connection from the camera to Bosch Cloud VMS.

Please perform the following steps:

1. When you have connected a new camera to your router, you need to open its web interface – just type in the local IP address of your new camera in a web browser – you can find this local IP address (usually in format 192.168.x.x) in your router among other connected devices.

2. When you have opened the camera’s web interface, you need to activate it first by setting up a password:

3. Login to the camera using the password and navigate to Configuration > Applications > Package management and upload the application package:

4. Wait until installation ends and refresh the page. You will see “VXG Cloud Agent“ appeared in the Package list. Click on it to open the app settings page:

5. Open Cloud VMS Configuration, add a 3rd Party camera, select VX Cloud Agent App

6. Then copy the Access Token.

7. Then go back to the camera’s app settings page and enter the following information:

Access token – the one you have copied on the Dashboard
Camera login & password – your camera credentials

8. Save changes.
9. In Cloud VMS Configuration, configure Recording Mode and Cloud Storage.

Now your Vivotek camera is set and you should be able to see video from the camera in the Cloud VMS Live View.

Was tested with the following camera models: M1045-LW, M1054, M3045-V, M3065-V, P3227-LV.

1.3 Connectivity

Outgoing connections usually are not blocked by a router, however in a corporate network with proxy server, firewall, etc. involved, the IT dept might open the needed ports.
The following domains and ports are used for connectivity:

Proxy connection is only recommended for corporate managed networks in critical industry with restrictive outgoing firewall rules and without need for load-balancing video connections.

Proxy connection is not recommended for large scale installations.

2. Add 3rd party ONVIF camera

2.1 Port forwarding

To add a 3rd party ONVIF camera to Bosch Cloud VMS, port forwarding needs to be configured for each camera in the Internet router.

The following ports need to be forwarded:

HTTPS port (default 443) for communication
- optional HTTP port (default 80), if the camera does not support https
RTSP port (default 554) for video streaming

Note: To change the used ports from default, if requested by the customer, please refer to the camera’s manual.

Example:

Public IP = 62.225.116.122
Public domain: mydomain.com
External HTTPS port to be used = 15000
External RTSP port to be used = 15001
Camera’s LAN address = 192.168.2.43
Camera’s HTTPS port = 443 (default)
Camera’s RTSP port = 554 (default)

Port forwarding with public IP address:

HTTPS: In the router, forward public 62.225.116.122:15000 -> to internal 192.168.2.43:443

RTSP: In the router, forward public 62.225.116.122:15001 -> to internal 192.168.2.43:554

Port forwarding with public domain:

HTTPS: In the router, forward public mydomain.com:15000 -> to internal 192.168.2.43:443

RTSP: In the router, forward public mydomain.com:15001 -> to internal 192.168.2.43:554

To configure port forwarding is individual per router manufacturer and model. Please refer to the router’s manual.

2.2 Add 3rd party ONVIF camera

Please perform the following steps:

1. Open Cloud VMS Configuration, navigate to Accounts > Sites > Devices.

2. Add a 3rd party camera, select ONVIF (via Port Forwarding)

3. Enter device name, host (public IP address or domain), HTTPS and RTSP ports, and camera credentials (user name and password).

Note: Some camera brands need to configure an ONVIF user to activate ONVIF communication. Please refer to the related camera manual.

4. Click Add.

5. Then configure Recording Mode and Cloud Storage.

Note: Pre-alarm recording is not available for ONVIF cameras.

Now your 3rd Party ONVIF camera is set and you should be able to see video from the camera in the Cloud VMS Live View.

2.3 Cloud VMS ONVIF compatibility

Basically all ONVIF Profile S and T compatible cameras can be connected to the VX Platform (see https://www.onvif.org/conformant-products/), supporting minimum:

H.264 base or main profile
G711 or AAC audio encoding
ONVIF motion events in case of event recordings & alarms, when the camera supports the Real-time Pull-Point Notification Interface

A quick test in one of our demo cloud accounts on the compatibility for

a certain camera model,
firmware version
specific configuration (stream, recording, local system, etc.)
network router settings
image quality and bandwidth needs

3. VX Video Control

The HTML5 Video Control provides the following functionality for live video and playback.e
